Sariah Thornton, a beauty industry mogul, dedicated herself to her brand and jet-setting around the world. Life hands her a lemon when her father’s passing bequeaths her ownership of a basketball team. She knows nothing about basketball and even less about why her father would choose to leave his prized team to her. As the new owner, she grapples with the complexities of the basketball world and enlists the help of the team’s charismatic coach.
As coach of the Las Vegas Ramblers, Justus Chappel is determined to secure the elusive NBA championship. But with the team suddenly under new ownership, Justus worries that his years of work will be undone. To his surprise, when his new boss seeks his assistance, he agrees, recognizing the opportunity to foster a positive relationship. Justus is caught off guard when he realizes the new owner is smart, funny, and easy on the eyes.
Together, they must overcome professional rivalries, personal insecurities, and the pressures of the game to discover that love might lead to a slam dunk for both their careers and hearts.
My second read by Kasha and I must say, I was thoroughly entertained. Sariah Thornton is the daughter of mogul billionaire Grover, the owner of the Ramblers. Sariah Thornton is such a badass. She’s free, she’s independent, and she's got great head on her shoulders. Despite a strained relationship with her father, she inherits both the team and a significant portion of his fortune after his passing.
Justus, a retired player due to a knee injury, was the head coach of the team. His main goal was winning a championship. He met Sariah Thornton in the cutest way and was attracted to her, but she was his new boss, so to him, that's all there was to it. But once she enlists his help to learn everything basketball, both find out their attraction was reciprocated. I appreciated how their relationship unfolded so smoothly and so unproblematic. Two adults who were attracted to one another. I love their maturity, I love the communication between them and I love how smooth and beautiful their arrangements transitioned into love. This story had a beautiful plot that was so well developed with even better character development. I loved every page of this. Kasha gave a great story with some grown and sexy characters and boy were they sexy. Even with that crooked knee, Justus was laying it down. So ready to take a deep dive into KT’s catalog.
I really enjoyed Sariah and Justus' love story--a child free by choice career woman in he late 30s and a mature 40-something single dad. We need more stories like these. But don't get it twisted--these two got down! Kasha Thompson is good for the hot and heavy. Only thing I would've really enjoyed--the playing up of the workplace/forbidden romance element. Can't wait to see if there's a third book in the Las Vegas Ramblers series.
Sariah Thornton is a successful entrepreneur who owns a luxury beauty brand Genuine Beauty with her best friend Tracy. She is a socialite and is living her best life jet-setting around the world while growing her brand. Being the daughter of Grover Thornton's business comes easy to Sariah, while her life seems to be perfect on the outside, Sariah is battling some serious abandonment issues. Having a strained relationship with her father, the last thing she was expecting was, one his untimely passing and two for him to leave her all his businesses, including his basketball team the Las Vegas Ramblers. Sariah is baffled by this news, for one she has her own company to run, and second, but most importantly she knows NOTHING about basketball. Not being a quitter she decides to enlist the help of coach Justus Cappel. And what starts as a mentor/mentee relationship quickly escalates into more.
Justus Cappel is a single father of two beautiful twin girls Ebie and Jhené. Justus is on a mission to secure an NBA championship but with the team under new management, not only is he concerned about his role on the team but also the team making it to the finals. He quickly learns that Sariah is not to be underestimated. He also can’t deny his attraction to the smart, determined, and beautiful Sariah Thornton. He agrees to mentor her and bring her up to speed. Promising himself that he would keep it professional and not pursue Sariah on a romantic level, he breaks that promise almost immediately 😂.
These two fell for each other almost immediately. I love how they were each other's support system. And they did lean on one another, even when it was hard things to hear, the respect between these two was so beautiful to witness. Sariah had a lot of healing to do when it came to trust. Justus was up for the challenge and wasn’t going to let her pass determine her future.
Some of my Favorite parts: 1. The Twins! Love them 🥰 2. Anytime Sariah called Justus, Coach 🥵 3. Sariah reading the letter from her Father 🥹🫶🏾
4.5⭐️ and 2.5🌶️ I received this ARC for an honest review of the book.
Me reading the first sentence: What an introduction to Sariah Thornton! 🌶️🥵
Sariah Thornton's life is turned upside down (or maybe right side up) when we first meet her as owner of a multimillion dollar beauty company. She is now the new owner of the Las Vegas Ramblers NBA team. When men told her that a woman couldn't do a man's job, she hit them with the "I can show you better than I can tell you." I love a boss FMC. Justus Chappel. As head coach of this all boys club, he is offered an opportunity to teach Sariah all about the game of basketball. And teach her he does!
Their physical chemistry was undeniable. But it takes communication and trust to build a solid relationship and the drama from the team executives played a major role in their relationship. I wish Sariah would've listened to Justus when he tried to tell her about the executives. I wanted to shake her a few times. And at the same time, I wish Justus would've just put his foot down and told her. "Let him guide you. Let her care for you." Those are the words that came to mind as l journeyed through Ramblers Nation with Sariah and Justus. I enjoyed their story and I hope we get more of them and Sloane + Deck in the future! ✨Boss/Employee + Sports Romance ✨Billionaire Romance
I enjoyed this read. The characters were so relatable and likeable. I laughed out loud and really enjoyed getting to know both main characters. So happy we also kind of got to check in with our favorite menace, Deion.
Kasha Thompson really is good at writing contemporary and RomComs! Although this was a sports romance trope, there were so many rom-com moments that had me chuckling and smiling. Justus and Sariah were a fun duo as they navigated all of their challenges together and separately. Sariah's grief was not only for what was lost with her dad, but something a bit more that was also a strain in her relationship with Zander. Justus's main dilemma was his knee injury and the fine line between dating and being romantically involved with your boss. Lots of lessons and fun journeys with these two, and they couldn't keep their hands off each other, whew. They were getting it! Lol, Justus and Sariah were able to get to the other side of the drama and make it to the HEA. I'm looking forward to book 3!

I’m quickly grasping that two things are definite when you pick up a book by Kasha Thompson
1. You’re in for a boat load of laughter. The banter between the cast of characters will have you in tears. 2. This woman holsters a mean right and left hook when it comes to spice. Be prepared to be absolutely breathless.
𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨:
In the second installment of the Las Vegas Ramblers series “Jump Ball”—we meet Justus Chappel (the seemingly brooding NBA coach) & Sariah Thornton (the feisty jet setting beauty mogul). When Sariah’s father passes; leaving her nearly everything…including his beloved basketball team. The beauty is not only shocked due to the state of their relationship prior to his passing. Sariah is thrown into a world she has less than minimal knowledge of.
🏀 . .
Recruiting Justus to teach her the fundamentals of the sport and the ins and outs of the organization was where their relationship was supposed to begin and end. But with two very attractive people in one another’s space …the attraction becomes a living breathing thing. Sariah not only gains a love for the sport. But she finds herself facing emotions she’s attempted to bury & face feelings she thought weren’t a part of her plans.
But can Sariah trust the beautiful single dad to lead her in the right direction or are there other forces working to subtract her from the equation all together….
🏀 . .
Two books in and NO MISSES. I loved Justus and Sariah’s story. Their chemistry had me cheering throughout the entire book. I love nothing more than seeing grown ass deserving people fall head over heels in love. As an elder millennial, books like this, featuring characters my age replenishes hope for my own love story. Kasha is one my queens for “love languages” in books. Her MCs ooze “Acts of Service” and “Words of Affirmation”. My highlights are filled with the sweetest words and the naughtiest gestures. And I want so much more.
🏀 . .
This story features the topics of abandonment, sibling and parental loss. I saw a lot of my own struggles displayed in Sariah’s character. I want thank Kasha for writing those subjects with sensitivity and compassion. I took that journey with her and I basked in Sariah’s healing in hopes that one day I find my own.
I absolutely 100% recommend this book. This series & this author. YOU MUST
I loved it. Right amount of heat and spice, a really good man, a smart and beautiful woman, not too much drama, and character growth make a beautiful love story.
I couldn’t put this book down! So grateful to have received an ARC! I really really enjoyed it! I loved Sariah and Justus!
Sariah’s life just took a huge turn, and now she has a new huge responsibility, new owner of the Las Vegas Ramblers. This change has impacted Justus as well, since he is the head coach, but he is willing to help in anyway possible.
Their relationship was hot! The chemistry and attraction between these two was to die for. The drama and plot of this book definitely played a huge role and played an obstacle in their relationship, but thankfully they never gave up and it allowed them to become stronger together. ❤️
First let me say I am a romance girlie. I live for a Black love story. I love the spice and the well established financially stable characters. I also enjoy this author. I have read a few books by her and enjoyed them. When I saw there was a second book in the series, I was looking forward to it.
May contain some spoilers but not too much. * * * * * First I thought the two main characters were under developed. Almost boring. Basketball coach and millionaire daughter turned owner of said basketball team. They connected under the idea of him being her coach on all things NBA basketball related. I think in the book they discuss that once. I am not a huge basketball connoisseur I enjoy the sport but I wasn't looking for NBA history either. It seems like as soon as they met to discuss their plan they were instantly attracted and in love. They never really mentioned the reason they "hooked up" to teach and learn basketball. Everything just seemed too perfect and tidy in the book she liked him he liked her He had the perfect two daughters....the perfect ex-wife.... The perfect house etc. He was a coach during basketball season but was always available. I am not saying I need difficulty and I want a man that's too busy but c'mon! The climax was very muted in the fact that we all knew what was coming and the mailman character already told us that it wasn't going to happen due to the female main character status within the company. We didn't know what they gained from trying to ambush the female main character until later but even that was unevenful.
I am disappointed because I live in Las Vegas and there are things that someone who lives in Las Vegas knows aren't exactly accurate. And those things could have taken just a bit of research.
Between the boring main characters, everything working out, no real conflict, the setting being slightly inaccurate; I just found this book was a waste of my time reading.
There were so many different characters that could have played a major role and they were just left on the sidelines. Overall the story was uninteresting.
I feel so guilty writing this review because I am rooting for all thing Black...books, authors, etc but this was not it, at all. Once I finish the book I'm not even sure I thought about the characters once. Normally when I finish a book I still wonder about the characters and think about them in a part of them stays with me in this case I definitely will not remember them.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Boss Babe Alert!!!! Sariah Thorton is THAT woman. I don't think in my recent years of reading romance that I enjoyed a fmc more than I do her love interest. However Sariah connected with me something fierce. She is queen of the court and any misogynist will have to bow down. I love that Kasha never made her choose kids over career as many times the narrative turns to that.
Jump Ball couldn't have come out at a better time than this very moment. Women in Basketball are breaking barriers and visibility is at an all time high. While IRL a lot of the focus is on the players and their coaches, it is also important to talk about ownership and control of the team where is it still a man's game. The microaggressions and demeaning comments from Nolan and Derek worked my last nerve but don't worry, Sariah is also in the business of getting her lick back.
My only critique is of the MMC Justus. His character felt very wishy washy to me and I just wanted him to stand on business. I'm not even talking about the 3rd act conflict, because I totally understand his position. In leadership you can't expect others to save you... a lesson I am quickly learning. No I'm talking about everything else. Don't ask me to open up to you and spill my guts after biting my head off about your injury! Nah playboy, you got it. That was really the straw that broke the camel's back for me on him.
Nevertheless I enjoyed the second installment of the Las Vegas Ramblers series, especially seeing my favs Deck and Sloane again. Interested to see who the next book will be about. I'm assuming Colin Pratt?
Let me start off by saying Sariah Thornton is a BOSS!! Something about the FMCs in this series just hits different. Sariah is a beauty industry mogul who traveled the world and was living her best life until her father’s death changes everything. She becomes the owner of the Las Vegas Ramblers (and much more). Even though she knows nothing about basketball and the haters are determined to see her fail. She is determined to lead the organization, with the help of Coach Justus Chappell.
Justus was a great guy. He was someone that everyone could trust and depend on and that showed in his interactions with everyone from his team to his personal life. His love and Support of Sariah was just what she needed. Even though they made me wanna scream sometimes 😂.
It was nice to read a more mature love story. I wish I would’ve gotten to see a little more development of Justus and Sariah’s relationship. Overall I liked the story and it kept me laughing. Also seeing Deck and Sloane was a highlight. I look forward to the next book in the series. (Please check your triggers)
I am so excited to get a second installment in the Las Vegas Ramblers series. A whole new couple to fall in love with. Sariah is such a powerhouse. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and fierce. I adore her spunk. Justus is the steady reliable man that she can cling to in a sea of chaos. He is so upstanding and attractive. Their chemistry is hot and intense. Their courtship develops quickly, but it makes sense for a more mature couple. I really love them together. Their intimacy is extra spicy and drool worthy. The background drama with the workplace nemesis makes this love story even juicier. I love getting a little update on Deck and Sloane’s union. They are so cute. This is such a fun follow up to Defensive Stance. For my fellow sports romance enthusiasts, this is a must read!
Thank you to Kasha Thompson for the advanced copy to read and review.
I just did not understand this man’s reasons for not sharing with the FMC that they’re trying to sabotage her. “I wanted you to work it out yourself” I’m sorry but no.
Ok Kasha!! Thank you so much for sending me this ARC to review!
Yall know how you see a cover and say I need to read that. Yeah. That’s how I felt when I saw Jump Ball! Now I’ve heard the girlies giving Kasha Thompson her praise. And I’m now a believer!
We start this story meeting Sariah Thornton, the daughter of Las Vegas Ramblers owner Grover Thornton and business woman in her own right. When Sariah is given some devastating news. She heads back to Vegas where she meets the head coach of the Ramblers Justus Chappel. When sparks begin to fly between Sariah and Justus, they have to decide do they want to mix business with pleasure?
Listen yall. I really enjoyed this story! It had a little bit of everything in it! As a girl who truly loves sports, I love a good sports romance but this had some billionaire romance mixed in, blended family, strong friendships, and it had some spice ok! But what i really loved was Sariah and who she was as a woman. This girl was a boss ok! Before everything happened she was a bad ass in her own right. But even so, she still took everything Justus had to offer her and made it work for her. She also figured out in order to be better you have to take your own healing into your hands. But Never underestimate a woman. Cause baby they will show you who to play with! And while Justus mad me the teeniest bit mad, I do understand his reasoning behind it. He loved Sariah wholeheartedly and it looked good on both of them.
All in all I’m definitely recommending this one! For the sports girlies who love romance and the for the girls who just want to read a great book. Be sure to grab this one when it comes out!! @kashatompson I can’t wait to read more of your work ✌🏾❤️
Out of nowhere Kasha Thompson has become one of my favorite authors. Her Las Vegas Rambler series started off strong with the complicated characters Sloan and Deck in Defensive Stance, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But there's something about Justus and Sariah that makes them even better!
In Jump Ball we meet troubled boss babe Sariah Thornton working through familial drama after her estranged father dies and leaves her a substantial part of his wealth and Justus Chappel, basketball player turned NBA coach eager focused on two things: a championship and his twin daughters.
Jelly Bean, create the life you want and you'll never be unhappy a day in your life.
Though this is the advice that Sariah reflects on her first day at the Las Vegas Ramblers executive offices, it sets the tone for the entire story. We find two people trying their hardest leaning on one another and working together to create a happy life on their own terms. Along the way, we get an attempted corporate takeover, a sibling reconciliation, and a spicy HFN.
This is my fifth 5 star review for Kasha Thompson's books. I cannot say enough about how good her writing and storytelling is. You're in for an entertaining story with lovable characters every single time.
Spice: 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Content Warnings: Graphic: Sexual content Moderate: Grief and Abandonment Minor: Death of parent and Child death

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The imagery is so vivid! The connection between the FMC and MMC Is constructed beautifully and authentically. Their meet cute gave me all the feels. It was so mundane but filled with electricity that foreshadowed their love connection. The spice was delicious 🤤 The FMC and MMC were simply good for another. They are both at the height of their careers which is giving grown man grown woman energy. I loved how they communicated their feelings and were able to choose one another in the end. Ultimately the MMC gave the FMC a soft spot to land.
Sorry 47% in and I just couldn't continue. Sariah and her father had a horrible relationship. So imagine her shock when he leaves her millions of dollars and his lucrative basketball team. However, every time the story gets really challenging for Sariah, here comes another down, dirty and raw sex scene. In addition, the kind of bacteria laden bodily fluids, Sariah and Coach Chappell were exchanging, was hazardous to everyone's health!
I really wanted to see if Sariah could juggle her own Skin Care business along with everything her father left her, but the repetitious sex scenes were just out of control!
This is the second book in The Las Vegas Ramblers series. It’s the story of Justus, the Ramblers Coach and Sariah, the owner of the team.
To me this quote was the essence of the book, “Life is funny. You can be existing, perfectly content and happy. Then randomly meet a person who changes how you see the world and shifts the things you find most important.”
That’s the essence of Justus and Sariah’s story. While I loved this book the sex is spicy so be forewarned if you want to read it.
BTW, I really like Kasha Thompson’s ability to tell a story so I’m reading through her back catalog. Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.
Oh, this was a sweet and sexy one. Boss babe with a supportive and loving king? All the yesses. At first, I was unsure how this was going to go, considering Sarah's dad was a first rate douche. But I knew we were in for some emotional and generational traumas and hopefully their healing conclusions. And Justus was ready to scorch the earth for Sariah whenever any weapons tried to form against her. And if not for her fear of failing at her father's prized possession, she may have been more receptive of Justus' warnings about Nolan and they would have been able to set him up even better, without the misunderstanding and her incorrect belief that Justus had betrayed her.
This author is quickly becoming one of my favs. Her books are always a good mixture of a great plot, steam, and most of all love. We meet Sariah as she learns her father has passed away and she has inherited an NBA team. We also meet the head coach Justus who is the coach and turns into her mentor and eventual love interest. I loved Sariah’s strength and how she grew emotionally in the book with Justus’ love and support. The surrounding characters were a good supporting cast. Great book and definitely can’t wait for the next!
this was such a great read! i loved how the sudden death of her dad brought both Sariah and Justus together. what started off as a ‘teach me the ropes of this thing so i don’t fuck it up’ turned into ‘finding my lover, soulmate and best friend in one person’ the way Kasha Thompson puts the words together was beautiful! the imagery was there, the passion was there, the love was there and the spice was THERE OKAYY!!! i really enjoyed this book. i hope this is a series bc i love me a good sports romance 🥰
I am a new reader of Kasha Thompson so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. It kept my attention and didn’t really drag like some books tend to. I will definitely be reading more of her catalog in the future. I also loved the heat factor in this book. The spice was spicing!
My only suggestion is to perhaps give us an epilogue. I would have loved to see how the characters were doing a year from the book’s end but perhaps she will continue this series so we can see how Justus and Sariah are doing in the future.
Baby, Kasha knows how to write a love story. From their first meeting until their makeup, the chemistry was instant and electric. I absolutely loved how they grew together and even what they realized when they were apart. My feet were swinging the whole time I was reading, and I loved every second of it, even when I was boohooing from Grover's letter. This is definitely a grown and sexy masterpiece. 10/10.
This book was sooo cute, funny & surprisingly spicy. I don’t remember the first book being this spicy lol. Sariah was a woman that was basically handed this NBA team ownership which is completely out of her wheelhouse & she gotta figure out her new normal & Justus is a single father to twin girls (I do like that there was no baby mama drama) that’s the head coach of the Ramblers. This felt like a mature but at the same time fluffy read. I really enjoyed it
An amazing story. Justus and Sariah made a good couple. Justus was a great man, coach and father. Despite the hiccup he redeemed himself. Sariah had a sad but successful life. With her business partner Tracie life was good. This is a great story. I loved reading it.
