As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.
I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.
I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.
Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.

The entire premise of this story rests on the heroine pretending to be her evil identical twin in order to be with her sister’s baby. It’s the worst kind of idealism since the sister is still alive and the heroine has no legal right to the baby. The gig will be up eventually – it’s just a matter of when.
The hero is the baby’s uncle, his brother is dead after he and his fiancée were killed in a car accident. The brother never acknowledged his child and the evil twin (behind the scenes) is working on selling her four month old to the highest bidder.
Enter the hero who has the bright idea of *marrying* the mother of the baby – a woman he calls a whore and a golddigger - in order to have custody of the child. (Cause mean old dad is dying and the baby is the only thing left of his favorite son).
So H/h marry with the heroine being the worst liar who lies and the hero who believes her. What happened to the alpha billionaires who are suspicious of everyone, who have private investigators on speed dial, who have their minions follow the heroine around? The heroine *goes to work* at her job as a librarian and after being caught tells the hero she is trying to improve herself. For eight hours. And the hero shrugs it off.

Romance authors, contain your OWs if you want a believable HEA! Although, to be fair, there wasn’t much that was believable in this story.
Still, I kept reading and yes, I was entertained by the silliness.

It was a bad move to pick book up this past 3 am this morning when I knew I had to go to bed and get up semi-early. 'Cause I got sucked in, big time! I don't normally like when the hero or heroine lies to each other or puts on a charade, but there is something about the twin storyline that gets you. Especially when one twin is 'bad' and the other twin is 'good', and they take over each others' lives. In this case, Nina was the good girl. I loved her. Her caring heart and devotion to her young niece Georgia won me over on the first page. Which is why I couldn't put this down this morning. I also liked that she was sassy with the hero. She was no wilting female. She was a tough and loving woman of very strong principles. While it wasn't really wise how she played along to Marc's sexist prejudices about women, it was actually kind of cool that Marc fell in love with her, even with her so-called notorious life. I think that there was a real connection between Marc and Nina, that overcame all those obstacles between them. Heck, that is why I am a bonafide romance novel fan. I love seeing love overcome all kinds of obstacles. And Georgia was such a sweet little baby.
I think it was interesting that Nadia truly was a bad seed. I mean bad! Oh my, the things she was up to were kind of eye-opening. And so soon after having a baby! It was also interesting to see how twins with the same start in life could go in such different directions. I also appreciated the contrasting or comparing dynamic between Nina and her sister, and Marc and his brother. I felt for Marc that he had been forced to shoulder the burden for so many things that went wrong in his family. He did use some terms I hate for a man to use for a woman, but other than that, he was a good guy. I liked how he stood up to his father for Nina. I think a man should definitely demand that his father show respect for his wife.
Despite reading a few books I enjoyed by her, I haven't been a huge fan of this author in the past, but I think I will have to reevaluate that. This is the second book in a few days I read by her and really liked. She definitely writes intense and emotional books. And unlike the one star book I read by her, I really liked Nina and the heroine in the last book I read. They are well-developed, complex heroines. That's what I like in a book, when the hero and heroine can meet on equal terms, even if their lives and paths have been so different.
So, even though I ended up with a sleep-deprived hangover, it was kind of worth it for this book. Definitely a well-earned four stars!

StMargarets suggested I suspend my disbelief as I re-read this little gem.
I didn’t leave a review when I first read this as I was not wise in the ways of HarleyLand and its tropes. I am sadder, wiser and more bitter now.
Dropping a star for the heroine. She’s a bad record stuck on repeat. Sorry chica, but if you are going to take up the mantle of your epically heinous, greedy, immoral, blackmailing and totally worthless sister, even of it is to protect your niece, then suck it up. The h embraces all that is shallow and Katrashian about her sister and then pushes the envelope a tad more in order to convince the hero that she IS her sister. She then pouts when he addresses her as the lying, manipulative slut that she portrays herself as.
When you dress like a slut, talk like a slut, and act like a slut…Yes, really. She does all that. She wears her sister's too tight clothes; she is sexually aggressive and taunting and not in a charming way, and she grabs the H's crotch to prove a point. Not only that, besides being much more evil than her twin, the evil woman is a lot more intelligent.
The H states on more than one occasion she is not as she seems. Does she ever take the opportunity to explain, maybe even collude to keep our little plot moppet. No. He’s ends up getting blackmailed by the Evil Woman to sell her baby for millions. Sorry tycoon, now’s the time to start throwing your weight around.
I hope they don’t reproduce.

I read stories with the same exact trope of evil twin vs good twin and a baby in the mix. I still really liked this one but the evil twin was way over the top in this one. She was horrendous. She didn't want the baby only money. At the end I even cried at the cruelty of the sister and the H. H was pretty harsh all throughout the book. He called her "who!@" on every page for the first part of the book. Yes he thought she was her evil sister but it was a little too much. Same with the sick Father. I hated that she never told him the truth. That always frustrates me the most in HP 's. It's irritating. I still gave this four stars simply because they both loved the baby so much and he fell in love with her in spite of everything. They definitely had passion. I will re-read this unfortunately I like this trope. I am so ashamed of myself!!! but they are fun! Especially when the H realizes he was an idiot. That is my favorite part! I think I have a cruel streak.

Loved this book the hero and heroine were awesome, had great chemistry and they were both extremely decent and likable people! This hero made me swoon like nonstop! It still needed an epilogue though.

I was in the mood for hating someone so I thought a book with a twin evil sister would do the trick... And it did!
I won't even start with the legal or better say illegal and illogical side of everything happening in this book, but if you omit it you can enjoy the story like I did.
You get a mean H, but he did have very good reason for being mean to Nadia, problem was Nina made him think she was evil Nadia.
I loved Nina especially when she gave Marc pains in you know where.
Nadia was everything you wish for... In a character to hate.
The plot moppets were nicely used.
Only problem was the lack of epilogue

I was very pleased with this book! My five stars might be a little generous (let that in no way belittle the book, it just didn't hit all the buttons some other 5-star reads did) but I gave the extra star because the author went where no HP has ever gone before...
Dum dum dum....
Our heroine... wait for it... explored herself!!!! (Shrieks of puritanical horror!!!) No, just kidding. I loved this! HP heroines NEVER master their baits (spelled incorrectly to throw-off any visiting minors - wouldn't want any googling (hehe) leading to a blindness epidemic now, would we?) Now, while the book doesn't say this outright, it does allude strongly enough that I can't see how I could have possibly misread it. Hurray! That's the first I've ever seen it in an HP (holla if you have, and which book) and it's about time. I like stories about innocent heroine's, I prefer the first love last love aspect, but what non-religious prude who doesn't have hang-ups because of possible past trauma doesn't... ahem?!
Another thing, there were scenes in this story that reminded me of the romance we read HP's for. Case in point, Nina is seeing her period and having major cramps and, even though there is a very present, though slightly cooling, war between them, he takes her into his bed (the first time since they married) and just holds her... and kisses her... and strokes her... and tells her he doesn't mind bodily functions :O (WHAAAAT?) Yes folks, one more ground-breaking declaration in the same 50k words HP! (On the side, forgive me for sounding impossibly innocent, but do people actually do that? Like, people who aren't Bill Clinton or don't do it for kinks? No judging, I just want to know if it's normal practice).
Anyway, loved the hero, loved the heroine, hated the gawd-awful twin-sister, and absolutely adored baby Georgia. I usually don't notice the kids too much in these baby-mamma drama novels, but this four-month old had a definite presence.
Thanks Ms. Milburne. I needed this as a palate cleanser after reading The Odds Against, a book so disappointing I must malign it in two reviews.

Good, entertaining read with lots of the traditional HP angst. My only complaint, is I think she forgave him way too easily.... But this is HP land.
But the dynamics between the two, the baby, the evil twin sister were all very compelling and I found I couldn't put it down.

Re-reading this gem, my first ever Mills and Boon read.
Nadia Selbourne wants to give up her four-month-old daughter, Georgia. Her identical twin sister Nina, pleads with her and requests her to at least consider raising her in memory of Andre, Georgia's deceased father. As soon as Nadia steps out to pursue her future somewhere else, leaving Georgia in Nina's care, where she anyways stays most of the time, in comes Marc Marcello, billionaire playboy of Sydney and Andre's older brother. Marc, who hasn't even shed a tear for his dead brother, in order to smoothly run the Sydney branch of the Italian Marcello merchant bank, seeing also that his father is terminally ill. But now, per his Papa's instructions, he is there to 'buy' the child from Nadia.
Yep, buy, because Nadia had threatened senior Marcello of giving up the baby for adoption. Nadia is a bad, bad woman. She tries to pawn off her daughter, in order to lead a better life. But there's also to consider the background the sisters come from. Nadia is obviously a very disturbed lady if she can hurt a helpless baby like that. There's plenty of angst in this story as he believes her to be the reason for his brother's death, she who has slept around all of Sydney. He mistakes Nina for her sister and the fear of giving up on Georgia makes Nina go on with the charade. Nina is also contemptuous of him, his views, and his lifestyle. They marry on Marc's coercion because both have something that will end up in neither of them getting custody of Georgia.
I loved the beautiful relationship and love that is between Nina and Georgia, that an aunt can love her niece more than her own mother is indeed something special! But I also felt a little sad for Georgia, neither of her parents wanted her. It was wonderful to see Marc and Nina step up in that role. In spite of the hatred, he couldn't help but get lost in her smoky grey eyes.
Marc's behaviour towards Nina, in the beginning, is understandable but, later on, the way he protects her is so sweet. And the climax is just heartbreaking. Though when reading it for the first time, I somehow missed a tiny detail. While Nina gets to know about Marc's past, Marc doesn't get to know hers. At least not fully, and not in a way of a proper conversation. And the ending seemed hurried, without an epilogue.
In spite of all that, this one is a keeper. A fantastic twin story! Although my views can be considered to be prejudiced because this was my first Mills and Boon and it will always be very special to me. Among the five books that I've since read, this one's my favourite work by Melanie Milburne.

First off, contrary to Goodread's and Amazon's summary, Nina's twin is *not* dead, nor does it ever suggest in the book that she is. In fact, Nadia is very much alive and is determined to cause all kinds of trouble throughout the book.
This was a good story of Nina pretending to be her twin so the baby's uncle will accept her as Georgia's mother. Nina is determined to protect the baby from her mother, Nadia, at any cost- even marriage to Marc, the uncle, who loathes Nadia for killing his brother.

The was a nice predictable easy reading book. The h is trying to convince her trampy twin sister to not give away her baby conceived in sin. The sister couldn’t care less and would rather barter off her baby to the highest bidder in the system or get some fat dollars from the baby’s paternal family. The father of the baby in question passed away in a freak accident.
So the h is left to look after her niece. Enters H. He’s the baby’s uncle and threatens the h with removal of this baby if she doesn’t comply with his demand for custody or marriage. Sadly there isn’t a way for him to tell apart that she’s the nice twin in place and not the OG trashy blonde who slept with his brother.
So now the nice twin has to keep playing evil twin to let this farce go on smoothly. Was beyond me why it was truly needed.. as in I wasn’t convinced. The h switching personalities and playing shallow turned me off a bit. She also has to face the H’s father’s wrath who thinks the h is her sister.
Tbh I got bored with their play. There is an HEA once the H finds out every thing. I liked how the h made a move this time to claim the man who took her heart.

Nina And Marc are lovely characters . They both love each other yet there is an invisible wall in between them that was nothing but a pure mask of lies .
I could help but wonder how similar these two are , As they would describe , A match made in heaven . Soulmates perhaps .
I wish the ending lasted a little long , It was too soon of her to forgive him so easily , of course there is no mistake of his but still I longed for a lil more romantic ending and perhaps an epilogue with a pregnant Nina and a happy Georgia in Marc's lap . Sigh *

Nice book. I like the confession of love made by the lead characters. In most of the books the girl will be love with the boy for 3/4 th of the book. But when the boy tells his love it ends in a single line. But that's different here. I liked it when both marc loved nina from the first.

This book started strong but fell apart completely at the end. Uh...the sister wants more money...and...nothing is said about it at the end? Please use force to get that baby away from her ABUSIVE mother! That's what ticked me off the most. This poor baby is in literal danger from it's mother and the heroine is all weepy about it. No, lets lock this uncle down and tell him that we need a game plan to make sure the sister NEVER sets eyes on the baby again. But terrible flat ending, which is sad because it was building to a good climax but it never got there.

Good premise but bad execution. The story reminds me a bit of baby of shame, one of the best harlequin I have read, but the plot doesn't make a lick of sense here. It is so contrived I cannot understand of imagine a person will act like that given their personality.
The h is ridiculous right off the bat. I have no idea why she agreed to the deal at all. She doesn't have the right to keep the child, so going into it knowing what the H wants is just so absolutely wrong. I can understand her stalling but cannot understand her agreeing. Her acting like her twin is just as ridiculous, considering she doesn't know anything about being a seductress. I don't get why she does it when her twin is so anal and it doesn't endear her much nor does it help convince the H that she is a fit mother. The whole thing will make more sense if she stalls till forced by the twin later. All through the book she is more or less a doe caught in the car light, always got caught in this one lie and afraid of being found out. There is no room to show her personality much besides being a good nanny, just a glimpse of it when H has family issues, but all these are only brief sentences, so I can hardly connect well with her.
Her twin also doesn't make much sense. If all she wants is a meal ticket, it will seem more likely she take over the h's place right from the start instead of chasing after another maybe.
Now the H is a decent guy. Though again with so much focus on the h there is hardly any glimpse of him to know what type of hubby he will be. Seems we don't even see him being tender or loving to the h much. We just know he is great with kids and loves the h being in his bed. His outburst blaming his dad also doesn't make sense. Dude you have been the meek son for years, so why would you upset your dad when he has only a short time left to live? weird...
Even the reconciliation scene is bad. I think I will feel better if H actually locate h and confess his feelings, instead of h running back to do do. And considering how evil the twin is, I would definitely feel better if she got her comeuppance instead of her ultimate millions. I really am real upset about that. Since she is such an unfit mother, there is no chance any sane court will grant her custody anyways, so no idea why both h and H got their hands tied and it just makes me real mad and think both real weak.
I think this could have been a great book of more time is spent on the relationship instead of h freaking out then making out with H every other page. I have no idea that people can fall for others because they are great parent, just absolutely weird reason. They hardly spend time together and most of them are bickering or having their tongues in each other's mouth, so again I don't get why all of a sudden they are in love, especially when h kept up the bitchy personality according to H's confusion, so I don't even know if the H is falling for a real person or not. This is not a good one in my book...

Harlequin has (tentatively) arrived in the 21st century. The hero is still allowed to have episodes of chauvinistic asshattery (equating promiscuity with prostitution; demanding celebacy from his bride-of-convenience without willingness to do the same) but now the outspoken heroine calls him out on it and makes him see reason. This actually sounds more terrible than it was because the hero turned out to be a relatively sensible, sensitive and caring guy.
There was a small problem with the fact that he falls for her while she plays the role of her superficial twin-sister. She lets her real persona slip once in a while and he picks up on it but I would have liked to see them interact as themselves more before the big ILY. Nevertheless - this was a decent variation of a story told about 1000 times before and I enjoyed it.
As all Harlequins are practically the same I thought I try a visual review for once:

okay...so i dont have a lot of time on my hand right now but i'll just say that i love this book! i mean LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!!! it had everything there was to a romance story that i love...and i'll rewrite my review of it at a later time...when i find some time...but everyone who loves romance should give this book a try.

This book should be retitled The Twin from Hell.
SPOILERS AHEAD.........
Evil twin- This chick is messed up! She is a true blue slut. Not just because she sleeps around at the speed of light, but because she is always looking for a return on her investment. She throws herself continuously at the hero’s brother, pokes holes in his condoms and proceeds to get pregnant. She wants to abort the the baby if she can’t get cash for it, but the heroine convinces her to keep it. After having the baby she proceeds to harass the lover and his family to get money. The lover ends up dying in a car crash after evil twin visits him. He’s dead, so she goes after the dying dad. When she doesn’t get the response she wants, she decides to haul her cookies to America for the new guy, leaving her baby to the heroine until she can essentially sell the baby to the highest bidder. She has no maternal instincts what so ever and has even been abusive with her child.
Heroine- is the good twin, pretends to be her nieces mother when the hero arrives to make claim of his dead brothers baby(the only grandchild to boot)The heroine can’t stand the thought of losing her beloved niece and takes on the identity of the evil twin. She also knows if the hero sees the bruises on the baby there is no chance in hell(her sisters birthplace) of having access to the child. So she acts the part of a manipulative, slutty, gold digging tramp so hero will believe she’s the evil twin. She marries hero as a convenience and has to fork any money she gets to the evil twin or the evil twin will spill the beans.
Hero- uncle to the plot moppet, hates the heroine with a vengeance and blames her for his brothers death, decides to marry heroine thinking she is mother to his nephew so he can have access to the baby and maybe eventually get custody....it doesn’t take long for the hero to start developing feelings for heroine, you see our heroine may have model worthy looks, but her acting skills are not on par with Meryl Streep. She slips in and out of her role often...leaving the hero confused and wondering who the “real” Nina is. Heroine loses her virginity to hero, (this is explained away as the heroine obviously had a difficult birth 🤔) He feels guilty about this episode, because he probably felt he didn’t need to be delicate with a woman who opens her legs with the same consistency as the automatic doors in a busy airport. They overcome this and begin to have frequent love making sessions...all the while our heroine is still mum about her true identity.
The beans get spilled.....heroine was going to tell hero about her identity, but sex against the car temporarily silenced her...they go in the house to be greeted by the evil twin...who goes out of her way to make the heroine look just as money grubbing. In a moment of anger, because of the heroine’s betrayal, he tells her he wants her gone in the morning . While he is hashing out the particulars with the evil twin, our heroine sneaks away into the night and heads back home. Once the hero gets the evil twin out of the house, he goes to heroine quickly only to find she has left....After a few days apart, the heroine returns to the hero where they declare their undying love and plan to adopt the niece....unfortunately until the papers are signed, they keep paying the evil twin who really needs to reunite with Hades and disappear!
I like StMargarets review and some of the implausible things that come up. First of all, there is no doubt in my mind that our extremely wealthy hero wouldn’t had used his ultra talented super sleuthers to uncover everything there was to uncover about our heroine...a twin would have been discovered! I also wasn’t a fan that the heroine kept the secret that long!!! It got annoying. I am wondering if the story could have been angstier if this secret had been discovered earlier.

Romance novels usually require a buy-in. An agreement from the reader to accept the story and suspend reality.
Bought for the Marriage Bed is a twin swap story. The good twin steps in to raise the daughter of the "evil" twin and through twists of fate takes on the role of her sister to marry the brother of the infant's late father. A lot of this could have been cleared up with a background check. And considering Marc Marcello has Nina followed and her bank account watched it seems odd to me that he didn't do one.
I'm not a huge fan of men who bully and constantly need to assert their dominance. Marc does this in spades, towering over Nina, clenching his fists (as though controlling his need to hit her - described in the book) and saying nasty things. All of this is written off as an emotional response to having to marry who he assumes is his late brother's ex. I guess what bothers me is the fact that him being barely able to control his temper (with serious hints of underlying violence) is considered a good thing. To me he felt dangerous and unsafe. Poor Nina.
But this is an easy read and in the end Nina, Georgia and Marc have one another. They are able to build a found family and it's very sweet. I really like the emphasis on family. It gives the book a wholesome core which is kind of needed considering the amount of times Nina is called a gold digger and a whore. That being said, I would have liked the "evil" twin to show some growth or get what was coming to her. Either one and I would have found the ending more satisfying.

Could have been a 4 star story. But a couple of things held me back.
It's a twin sisters story, with one being the angel virginal heroine. And other being a slutty villainy one. But the bad twin was a bit too bad to be believable. Came across as over dramatic and phony.
The second thing that put me off a bit was that the hero never managed to figure out that his wife was the angel, not the slut ! Until the bad one actually turned up at his door step. Come on, we love our heroes to be rich and dashing, yes. But we wouldn't settle for a dumbo !! She was throwing clues all the time.
Anyway, the book held my attention. Good attempt, could easily have been much better. But I won't complain. 3 stars.

Twins but not the same
Nadia is a selfish, self-centered, money grubbing *itch and Nina suffers for it. It is sad that she is not a good person or a good mother. However Nina loves her niece with everything that is in her. Marc had the same misfortune as far as siblings go. They don't say much about Marc's motives, but I deduce that he was just as self-centered as Nadia. Nina and Marc are trying to protect their niece in different ways. Him by being a demanding a**hole and her by pretending to be her niece's mother. In the process, they fall in love. The story is great. I'm not so fond of the ending. I kind of wanted to see Nadia actually suffer some real consequences. Sigh. The lack of actual closure on Nadia is why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5.

Esta historia engancha desde el inicio cuando vemos a la gemela buena luchar y mentir para proteger a su amada sobrina de su avariciosa hermana, madre de la niña, y de su tío Marc Marcello.
Me encantó su naturaleza fiera para defender a la niña de la maldad y maltratos de su propia madre.
Marc la desprecia nada más conocerla, pues piensa que la atractiva mujer es culpable por la muerte de su hermano, pero quiere hacerse cargo de su sobrina y eso lo lleva a hacer un trato de un matrimonio de conveniencia con Nina.
Ella acepta aún sabiendo que él la odia, todo por proteger a la bebé, pero no puede evitar también sentir atracción por el italiano.
Disfruté mucho este libro y su trama. El final se sintió un poco apresurado y me hizo falta un buen epílogo.
