My Gift of Light: A Bereaved Mother's Loving Pilgrimage from Skeptic to Psychic Medium

Rate this book
Sandy Wiltshire was an average mom who never gave much thought to spiritual matters such as life after death. But when her daughter was killed by a reckless driver, Sandy fell into the depths of despair and depression. As she opened ways to communicate with her deceased daughter, she found herself becoming a channel of reaffirming messages from others who had crossed over to the other side. As she learned to trust her new "gift of light," Sandy began to hold private readings with those who are bereaved-bringing words of love and hope to anyone cast adrift in the seas of sorrow. Sandy lives in Ontario with her husband and their two daughters.

I had a reading with Sandy years ago. She is not authentic and seemingly has fooled everyone with her (explainable) accuracy, despite poor acting skills. I was extremely disturbed when I listened to the tape of my amazing reading. As I am claircognizant and have my own sixth sense, I could both hear and feel (through energy) the “craft” of what she was doing, the way she acted as if she was fumbling for my parents’ first names, which were both in my dad’s obituary (I made the mistake of giving her my full name, and my surname is unusual). She also mentioned my dad's sister, who was the only sibling named in his obit, and named the number of his (many) siblings, traceable from birth and ancestry records.

Most telling was how she erred a few times by outright asking about "the sister", then quickly self-correcting by saying "or other person". Think about it. Why would any medium self-correct if they were simply delivering spontaneous information?

All her info related to relatives, my address, and how many times I’d moved, are traceable (knowing people who work in credit/collections and investigation can be very handy when you pay them enough).

Why should you even consider what I'm saying? Well, for about two years I provided accurate random information to online strangers, while playing games, to validate my own claircognizance (I "receive information" randomly, a gift I have had since young), and I can “cut with a knife” the deception that Sandy utilized in her “readings”.

I am not discounting that Sandy may have some mediumship abilities. However, when I read other comments about her spot-on initials and (feigned stumbling of) very close first names, identification of relatives, I saw the pattern. She studied material and delivered premeditated information. This became obvious only after I returned home and had a careful listen to the tape.

It also looks like Sandy has completely disappeared, while the unfortunate person with her old phone number continues to get regular calls for her, years later. If she were legitimate, wouldn't she at least let everyone know she was leaving the scene, especially knowing that bereaved parents would be looking for her for years? Perhaps she extracted enough money to simply not care and retire comfortably.

Conniving psychics are plentiful, I'm sure, but it is disturbing when I discover a medium who gives false hopes to vulnerable, grieving parents for profit. And by the way, I am a spiritualist myself, not a general skeptic.

If anyone doubts what I am saying here, I would be happy to connect personally with them and share our taped recordings. If someone is intelligent and discerning, they will agree with me after a comparison of her spot-on first names, and how all “tangible” information is that which is easily traceable with the right resources. Anyone in the collections/credit field, or investigation, can easily access current and past addresses (she will tell you the person is validating how many times you've moved etc.).

While I will never be able to prove what I have no doubt about, the fact remains, even the BEST of the best psychics/mediums don't consistently pull out first names accurately, nor with poorly feigned "stumbling" around very close-sounding names, or nailing first initials every time. Traceable information (birth/death records, ancestry/relations, addresses), for the "WOW EFFECT" that has fooled her clients, comprised the majority of Sandy's private readings. Just listen to your tape, put aside what you really want to hear, and detect how most of her accurate information is all traceable.

What an amazing journey Sandy Wiltshire had to become a psychic medium. I'm envious of her ability to talk to her daughter on the other side although I fully understand she would much rather have her here in her physical body. Parts of her story were difficult to read and had me in tears many times because I'm going through the same grief having lost my son so recently. When she talks about getting through Christmas, birthdays and the anniversary of her daughter's death I understood the anxiety and pain. Those events are just around the corner for me and I'd give anything to not go through them but I realize I need to in order to start healing and reach something that is different, not better, but different.

I'm really hopeful that i will meet Sandy one day and receive a message from Blake. I believe that he is with me and he's OK and that I'll see him again one day. it's just so hard being here without him.:(

What a wonderful book. I'm lucky enough to know Sandy in person, and this book is truly a representation of how wonderful she is. Her story is moving and compelling. The writing is so clear and you feel as though you are on the journey with her. My heart broke many times in this book trying to fathom the immense pain she experienced and am so happy she was able to use her journey to not only heal but to grow spiritually. Her purpose in life is so clear, to love and help others.

An incredible book. Prior to reading it I would have thought it was fiction but it was truly eye opening. Sandy happens to be a neighbour of mine so I can relate to this book even more. I highly recommend this book to anyone, whether or not you are grieving a loved one. This book was so inspiring and amazing in every way. I can't say enough good things about it.
