Squaring the Circle is a new age ghost story using the Holocaust as a past life historical backdrop. It delves into the mechanics of reincarnation, karma, and just retribution. The author tries to outline a path for final redemption despite horrific past deeds against others in past lifetimes. To quote the book: "there is no deadlier combination than murderous vengeance fueled by just retribution." But, the final outcome overcomes the metaphorical mathematical impossibility of the title. I was deeply moved by the author revealing in layers recurring themes and motifs of love, prejudice, vengeance, and the ultimate culmination of the past upon the lives of the characters we come to know. The author's skill in crafting the story lies in his ability to allow his characters to find humor, comfort and love amidst the revelations of disturbing past life atrocities. I would highly recommend this book for those who are interested in the concepts of reincarnation and karma, or for those who just love a good ghost story.
