After a meteoric rise from third-string quarterback to projected first round draft pick, I’m a college legend. But she walks into the party like she’s the celebrity, not me.
She says we share a connection. By the end of the night, I have every intention of proving her right.
First Down Fake is a short, first introduction scene between Cassandra and Diego, set four years before the events in Second Down Fake.
Could be that most of this was read at 2 am. But I’m not really sure what I read. There were too many characters and not enough of a book to develop them all. Not at all what I expected and was quite sad about this.
Cute prequel lead up to the first novel in the series. Perfect set up for the future story and we see the instant attraction and want for each other and the build up to what makes them go on separate paths. Love a good sports romance and this quick read packs a lot in a few pages and makes you want to dive right into the next book to find out what happens years later. One of my favourite authors and never disappoints!
In this 30-page prequel, we’re introduced to the male lead, as he sets his sights on the female lead. Deigo, the male lead, is this almost pro football player, sees Cassandra, and finds himself intrigued. She’s claiming he should know who she is, and he’s racking his brain to see if he knows her, etc.
This vignette is a teaser from male lead POV for the story Second Down Fake, and I enjoyed that it was on the shorter end. As a reader, it really allowed me a sample taste of Second Down Fake without having to fully commit. I really liked the communication and banter between the two main characters and thought this prequel highlighted them perfectly!
Its a cute little story but it was also a little skippy. It made me smile at parts and overall I think it was written good but there is parts that could be better
Diego, the male lead and almost professional football player, is at a sponsor’s party making nice. When he spots Cassandra, the female lead, helping herself to the top shelf alcohol, he’s intrigued. He’s even more intrigued when she suggests he should know her. He’s sure he doesn’t - he wouldn’t have forgotten her…
Spending time in a date, he remains intrigued and uncertain about who she is, working it out at the last minute and knowing they can’t begin a relationship because their lives are taking them to vastly different locales. A pity really…
This vignette is a teaser from male lead POV for the story Second Down Fake. I enjoyed the playfulness of the character interactions and the interest both characters had in each other. I’m looking forward to the main romance.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
As a novella that provides the start to a longer story, this was a fun read to start my week. From the setting of a party to the connection between Diego and Cassandra, it wasn’t something I’d read before when it came to sports romance. To be fair, I don’t read a ton of football-based sports romances, since it’s not a sport I’m as interested in, but this balanced the need to know information with what was happening in the moment well. I’m incredibly jealous of the fancy treehouse and I hope it’s somehow included in their longer story.
I DNF’d this book. It just wasn’t my style of book, but maybe it is for anyone else! It’s college sports romance and idk a lot about sports (especially football) so I was also clueless wile reading this.
I’m just gonna say it might be for you it might not be for you. It sadly enough wasn’t it for me, because I was actually really excited to read this.
Ps: remember, reading preferences are subjective and can vary from person to person.
First Down Fake is a prequel novella to Second Down Fake by Sarah Everly. In this short novella, we get to see how Cassandra and Diego meet. This is really just a teaser for her new book, so way too short, but definitely has me excited to read the upcoming sports romance centered around Diego Salazar, who we first met in Noa's story Sidelined. I cannot wait to dive back into this series!
Short, almost sweet and almost to the point. Didn't really set up much for a backstory. Introduces characters that may or may not be in the following book. A lot of mystery with no actual substance. Not a standalone type of novella. And maybe not worth reading until the actual first book in the series comes out.
This is short and definitely could have been the prologue to a longer book for sure but it was cute.
She knows him and won’t tell him how he should know her. They steal whiskey and hang out in the treehouse at a football party. The banter is pretty good.
A really sweet little foretaste of the rest of the story, which I have now pre-ordered. Despite the small number of pages, there is enough story building without any strange plot jumps.
