The story of Robert Johnson as a sailor on the Coast Guard Cutter Haida from 1941 to 1944, details furnished by ships logs and research in addition to memory and personal letters.

Well written, fast paced little book, filled with stories of life on board as the Haida does her jobs running the gamut from convoy escort to picket duty and humanitarian relief as part of the U.S. Navy's Alaskan Sector.

Easy and interesting read.
