"Jugglers Rule! And here’s your blueprint to living and loving the Juggle Life." —Kevin Roberts, CEO Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi
Ian Sanders has written an easy-to-read guide for learning the art of juggling - that seamless balance between career, family, commitments, and fun. The "juggling manifesto" he nicely walks us through is, contrary to 'juggling' commitments, more like incorporating them seamlessly. The Parts One and Two are a bit repetitive and a slog to get through. Parts Three and Four are where Sanders' manifesto really shines. I particularly liked the "Retire Retirement" section in Part Four, where Sanders' notes the changing concept of waiting until retirement to start living the life you want: " Work hard but flexibly. Mix up work and play so you see you kids while you're still young...Live for the moment. Find time for your passions." Sanders delivers this new way of thinking so smoothly - it's a very refreshing read brimming with positivity exactly when the 9 to 5 commute needed it.
This is a short, very easy to read book with the feel of a blog - short, pithy posts that you can dip in and out of. A great book to help you think about how the world of work has changed and how you can custom-design your ideal work- and life-style.
I particularly liked Ian's take on: - 7 of the old, outdated (and risky!) rules for success at work that most people are still following unwittingly. - Why work/life balance isn’t the answer to a healthy, happy life. - How to create work that you love, and be productive and focused and get stuff done, when you have multiple interests and don’t want to choose between them.
