When Reina Baudoin goes missing from a university, her parents make their way to Alabama to find out what has happened to their beloved daughter. Reina’s mother relies on her faith for strength, while her dad, OSCAR, has other ideas.
When the people responsible for Reina’s disappearance begin turning up dead, one by one, Oscar questions his disbelief in his family's legends. The police don’t believe in coincidences, but they can’t tie Oscar to the murders. Unwilling to shrug it off as the streets taking care of its own, Detectives Cooper and Sharp are determined to solve the crimes.
Did Reina’s frantic call to her ancestor’s bring on deadly consequences? Is Oscar behind the deaths of the suspects? The police may never know the answers to those questions, but the criminals who harmed Reina are about to find out that some families bring their own brand of justice.
I haven’t felt like typing a review for my last few reads but this needs more love! You got a family that sticks together, ancestors who played no games, kidnapping, murders, revenge, a lil love & solving a case. This box checked my boxes!
I have no words. This was such an amazing read. I wanted to give an amazing review to encourage others to read it, but I can not form any semblance of a sentence to describe this book and how amazing it was. Emotion evoking is an understatement. Ancestral magic, vengeance, family unity, this book surprised the heck out of me.
That was a great storyline about family protecting their own and the people who helped in saving their niece. I just hope Monty learns his lessons and not try get revenge because it didn’t work out good with tay tay
I read this book twice it was that good, and Reina was so loved. When she comes into her power, she will be amazing. But they should have left none alive because Monty, Bugeye And Dog didn't learn or listen. The ancestors protect their own. Now I want ro read about the uncles and the parents.
This book was so good! Ms. Reina was protected by her entire family and her ancestors. When I first started, I wasn’t sure I was going to finish because of what Reina went through, but baby listen: The Sweet Retribution I knew was coming would not let me put this book down. I would love to read more about Santos and Deidre..he definitely gives me protector bae vibes🕶️🩶🩶
Interesting book, in particular for someone who knows the areas well. I've met the real versions of the characters and the author has captured some of the reality.
As a fellow indie author, I try to support others, but this was the first time it turned out to be something that I'd choose to read but with a difference. I'm a genres hopper in support of indie authors, but crime thriller is my genre of choice. The element of the supernatural and legendary ancestors was something new for me, but I enjoyed all aspects of this story. It gripped me from the first page and proved that sometimes you just have to pick a random book, read it, and you might just like it. I will definitely be checking out this author's other titles.
It was after reading these four words “Ti fi sa bél” when I realized I would follow CD Davis’s silver eyed Baudoin Family to the end of the earth. This is my first book by this author but it felt so familiar and was such an easy read. After I finished, the books based in Louisiana by V C Andrews I’d read in my youth came to mind. This book was gifted to me and I’m left wondering why does my spirit attract Louisiana time and time again. What ancestral spirits might flow from me asking to be returned home. Trigger warning it may not be for all readers because of the violence however there is so much love between these pages that I hope you give it a go anyway.
I was like a personal cheerleader for the ancestors the entire time, like, Let's get it! Let's go! This is the first story I've ever read of this nature (with the ancestors and whatnot), and it was very well done. The story flowed easily, and kept me wanting to read, to know who was next to have Justice served up piping hot! I would definitely read more from this author!
What a fantastic combination of a thriller mixed with the supernatural! A very compelling read that kept me interested throughout. Characters were developed with skill and the subplots within the main story kept me engrossed in each one. Dialogue was well done. Bravo, C.D. Blue!
March 27, 2024, I ordered and read 'The Eyes of Death' written by C.D. Blue. In this book, the author turned her gut-wrenching pain from spiritual warfare into purpose and power. Knowing some of her backstory, I was intrigued with how she alchemized her painful energy into artistic creativity in her book. I felt an emotional connection and empathy that made me cry while reading her book.
This author knows how to tell a story. The characters were true to life and the author showed the depths of their feelings. The story is fast paced which for me made it hard to put down.
If you agree that the strength of anyone is in the relationships with family, friends and ancestors, this book will support your beliefs.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. The importance of love and who will fight for you when all else is said and done. I was mad, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat, and I rejoiced.
This was strange and entertaining, although I do believe in spirits, I don't believe that that do us the living that good..your book was a good read about a loving close family that comes when needed no questions asked
I was hesitant at first just because it seemed like it was going to be another urban language environment book but this Book Superceded any and all my expectations I couldn't stop reading Kudos to the writer on pulling me into the story
Don’t mess with the Baudoin Family! Oscar is a dad that doesn’t play about his daughter. The ancestors were no joke. That’s how you get revenge! This was an amazing story. My first C.D. Blue book, won’t be my last.
Yes, I absolutely loved this book. It gave me "Next of Kin" vibes, which is one of my favorite movies. I loved the way each family member came through and did their thing!!!!
It has been a long time since I had read a real page turner. The plot, the characters and the pace of the story, exquisite! We need more of this flavor!
This Author has a masterful imagination and insight in storytelling. Allowing the reader to get engaged in a good thriller mystery. Definitely a page turner and a must read.
