I anticipated a tranquil mountain retreat with just my daughter, but fate had other plans when I rescued Harper Jones from a crash - the relentless attorney who represented my ex in our divorce. Now stranded together, tension crackles between us. She certainly looks down on my blue-collar lifestyle. But the longer we're stuck together, I see there's more to Harper than meets the eye.
She is passionate, quick-witted, and undeniably charming. Despite my efforts to resist, I find myself drawn to her. I'm fighting this attraction every step, but how long until I give in to our explosive chemistry?
I never expected to see Lorenzo Garcia again after handling his difficult divorce, especially not stranded together in the mountains with him and his daughter. I know he resents me for the past, but there's more to me than just my job.
If only I could get the brooding single dad to see that. I'm falling for his strength and loyalty, resisting the urge to run my hands over his rugged firefighter physique.
Bonding over his daughter brings us closer. Just when it seems like we've moved past the baggage of our history, I discover I’m pregnant. This surprise pregnancy threatens to divide us again just as our walls are coming down.
Is there hope for a second chance between us, or will the ghosts of our past keep us apart? Can an ambitious lawyer and a grumpy single dad move beyond their preconceived notions and open their hearts to true love?
The book pulled me in from the very beginning, and I laughed so hard at the MC, Lorenzo, who found himself stopping to help someone who had been in a car accident. His POV description of the injured driver, practically removing his clothes, and some of the things she said in her delirium had me laughing and rereading the section over again. At first, I thought I had misread something and then realized that it was the scene of an accident where they had stopped. He was on his way to a cabin with his daughter to spend a little quality time. Unknown to him, the driver of the wrecked vehicle was actually his ex-wife, Mary’s former best friend, Harper Jones. She was also the lawyer, who had handled Mary’s custody matter, almost ripping his daughter, Winlow from his life. They each had held misconceptions about the other, all brought about by Mary’s lies.
It was quite eye-opening for both Enzo and Harper to realize that they had been taken in five years ago by Mary. Mary had led Harper to believe that Enzo had been cheating on her, had threatened to hit her, and if she did not guarantee that Winlow would remain with her, she was certain that he would be beating on her as well. Angry feelings, festered between the two of them. Enzo had held such animosity toward Harper as he viewed her as the one person who was attempting to take his daughter from him. Harper worried that in leaving Winlow with her father, that she had actually doomed her to a possible life of abuse. Mary, disappeared after the court, hearing and information, eventually surfaced that she was actually the one having an affair, and she practically dissed Winlow. Neither Harper nor Winlow had had contact with Mary in years. Harper felt extremely guilty for having pushed to have her removed from Enzo’s custody, realizing as she watched their interaction that he was a kind and loving father and Winlow was exactly where she belonged.
As they let down some of their defenses, and each one saw the other in a different light, feelings began to take over, and they basically received their happily ever after.
I guess my complaint would be that feelings, went from anger and hatred to love and wanting to be together in a matter of days. It just did not seem feasible to me. Although, I could understand them, breaking down their defenses, and seeing the other in a different light, I just don’t know that I believe that the “I love yous” would have been said that quickly. my second complaint would be that there were a lot of typographical and grammatical errors. I don’t know if a proof reader was employed, but if so, they missed quite a few mistakes. On several occasions, I had to reread sections over and over again to figure out what was being said. My last complaint would be that once the characters are introduced with their full names, I don’t think that it is necessary to refer to them by their full name throughout the entire book. There may be times when a point is being made, and I can see the full name being used but when the characters point of view is being presented, I found it somewhat annoying that the majority of the time Harper was referred to in Enzo’s thoughts as Harper Jones.
I’m glad I read the book and it was worth the time but I don’t know that I would put it in my group to reread.
I really liked the relationship between Enzo and Harper. Even though it was the definition of complicated from moment one. When Harper gets in a car accident, and firefighter Enzo stopped to help, he had no idea that the woman he was helping was his ex-wife's lawyer and former best friend. Not that it stopped him from helping her, or affected how well he did what he was trained to do. But it certainly made things interesting.
I appreciated that the two of them were able to allow each other to understand Mary had been the catalyst to them going against each other the way they did. That her lies were the root of so many issues. And I loved that they were able to allow themselves to open up to one another. Part of me felt like it happened very quickly, maybe even too quickly. But I do realize that they knew of each other and the attraction was there from before, they just couldn't act on it then and had so many misconceptions about one another.
I do recommend this book and I think it was an enjoyable read. I just can't help but feeling that the relationship seemed to turn around even quicker than I would have expected it to. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Enzo and his daughter Winlow were heading up to a mountain cabin that belonged to a friend for some much needed vacation time together when they came across a car that had hit a tree and the driver was injured, when Enzo got her out of the car, realised it was Harper, his ex wife’s lawyer in their child custody case and he hated her! His daughter Winlow was worried about her Auntie Harper and his job as a Firefighter meant that it wasn’t in his nature to abandon someone who needed assistance, especially medical assistance. When Harper finds herself in the same holiday cabin as Enzo and Winlow and she is so angry, her friend Frank had offered her the cabin to take a break after she resigned from her job, and she so needed a quiet relaxing time, and definitely not share with a man she hated so much! An enticing story of two people who hate each other and are forced together by circumstances and find their way through their disaster of a relationship to the truth about each other. In the subcategory of "transgressive, politically incorrect" romance, this one rates high. I believe a man was involved in writing the male-point-of-view chapters. On page one, where Lorenzo is dragging Harper out of a wrecked car, she shows her concussed and confused state not with a tasteful "Where am I?" but with a grope and a boys'-locker-room joke. That such a joke crossed her mind will later be explained by her carrying around erotic fiction disguised as law textbooks. There's a detailed bedroom scene, a detailed bathroom scene, a detailed food fight scene, and a comparatively tasteful presentation of flu symptoms. Also, a nine-year-old child supervises the adults' romance and plays relationship counsellor.
If that's your kind of romance, you know who you are...you'll like this book. Hide it from the children and politically correct people in your life.
(It's not officially published yet, so Goodreads is prodding me to mention that I received an Advance Readers' review copy in exchange for honest reviews.)
Harper was the lawyer who acted for Enzo's ex, Mary, in their divorce and custody battle over Winlow, their daughter. Mary, told lots of lies, so Harper thought Enzo was an adulterer and wife beater but still Harper lost the custody case, her only ever loss in the courtroom. Now they are both at Frank's cabin a mutual friend’s place, and bizarrely she's attracted to him, as he is to her, at the same time they both hate each other, they are both working hard not to act on the attraction and bicker constantly, as Winlow is there too they try to get along and at times do actually change their views after froths are told, and in a couple of days they are I. Love. I liked the idea of this story however the inconsistency got too me. Enjoy us burning up with a fever but minutes later it’s forgotten about, one minute they are drinking whiskey and the next moment it’s magically turned to wine, then suddenly it’s 6 months later in a sentence. Several spelling errors also, it this was edited and corrected it would be a much better read.
I was super excited to read this book as grumpy MMC are some of my faves. But this writing style was not my fave; honestly, the characters were super annoying to me. I felt there were too many flashbacks if you will to what literally just happened in the storyline. It was irritating and made me want to skip sections.
Enzo was not the typical fireman that we have all read about and he was guarded since he had trauma in his past. But honestly, the way he approached Harper throughout the story was frustrating. I felt that since most firemen are paramedics (sorry being a fireman's wife for over 25 years gives me knowledge) his lack of concern over her head injury and her fever bothered me so greatly.
I would give this a 2.5 stars at best.

This is Harper Jones(divorce attorney)and Lorenzo Garcia’s (firefighter/single dad) story. Talk about hate ant first sight , this was a classic! They 1st met when she represented his ex-wife Mary in their divorce/custody battle for his daughter Winlow. Now fast forward 5 years they meet again. They get trapped in a cabin together after Harper had an accident and then got caught in a storm that caused a landslide. Enter Winlow, what a 9 years old who is older in her head than the both adults!! Because of their confined circumstances together, and a little help from Winlow, they begin to realize that they both were played by Mary. Now there is no holds barred, their amazing chemistry and attraction can be let loose! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a story about Harper divorce attorney and Lorenzo firefighter. They hate each other due to Harper representing his ex-wife Mary in their divorce and she made him feel so bad over the fight for custody of his daughter Winlow. They get trapped in a cabin together after Harper had an accident and the rain storm caused a landslide. As they are stuck together they begin to realize that they both were played by Mary. Once they figured this out they was able to explore the astronomical attraction between them. This is an enemies to lovers story.
I thought this book was OK. I had a hard time getting into the storyline. I liked the characters and the banter between them, but I felt the story lacked depth. I've read lots of books where the couple falls in love fast and that wasn't the issue it was more that I didn't feel that they connected enough to fall in love that way. On a positive note, the writing was good so I may give this author another chance. Maybe it was just the book and I didn't connect well with it.

Harper and Lorenzo did not expect to ever run into each other again but when it turns out that they were headed to the same cabin she is in need of being rescued. This story was definitely an enemy to lovers as their perspectives of each other were skewed for various reasons. Overall, this was a very charming love story that was very enjoyable.

An enemies to lovers story. Boy the hate was strong! The 9 year old was quite mature for her age and the adults were quite immature for their ages. So, they oddly met in the middle with maturity. A little bit of a turn off. About 75% of this book was internal dialogue. Lots of sexual tension. There are some inconsistencies. He was a former Marine (page 88) in the beginning of the story but later in the book it's mentioned that he had joined the Army (page 204).
this was so good JFMDM BUT the jump at the end took me off guard like they only just came to terms with their attraction for eachother and then suddenly they’re saying i love you and he’s hinting that she’s going to be his wife HELLO
also wish it was longer so we could’ve seen more domestic family scenes but coool
OMG 😱 this book is coming in FIREY HOT 🥵 and it’s not going to be easy to extinguish the flames 🔥 that these characters portray. So, if you enjoy reading about SEXY HOT firefighters then look out because this book is going to start a FIRE 🔥 inside of you and it’s not going to be extinguished until the very end.
Grumpy Firefighter Save Me by Luna Lovelace was difficult to finish. I liked the storyline but I felt there were too many flashbacks. The flashback at times made the book confusing. I am a fan of Luna Lovelace's book and look forward to reading more of them, this one just wasn't for me.

A fast paced hate at first sight story . A dad with the love of his daughter, a spicey lawyer . A bantering daughter who just wants her dad to be happy and her "aunt" and he to be civil to one another.
Emily and Jack have a lot in common. They both have issues with trusting someone else with their problems. This is sweet and has a real good storyline.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance about Enzo and Harper. When they end up stranded in a mountain cabin alone with Enzo’s daughter Winlow they find that the truths each of them believed about the other are false and attraction blossoms. I liked Enzo’s character because he always puts his daughter first…and hello FIREMAN MC! Overall this was a good contemporary, slow burn romance.
Ugh yes we love a good enemies to lovers with a lot of tension and banter. And this one definitely delivered on that note. I really enjoyed the plot development and the stuff that is uncovered throughout the story. The mmc seems grumpy and moody at first but once we get to know him more we see a completely new side of him. I first thought I wouldn’t really like the fmc but dang she proved me wrong. She was strong and caring in all the ways but it was hidden behind defensive behaviour first. I loved that the mmc was a caring and loving single dad, damn that was hot the way he cared for this daughter. And the spice was definitely spicying! Because of the enemies part we get hot and explosive chemistry. Would definitely recommend!
Harper was the lawyer who acted for Enzo's ex, Mary, for their custody battle over Winlow, their daughter. She, Mary, told lots of lies, so Harper thought Enzo was an adulterer and wife beater. Now they are both at Frank's cabin she's attracted to him, as he is to her, but they are both working hard not to act on it, especially as Winlow is there too, but the more they learn about each other the more difficult that becomes.

Enzo and his daughter go to his friends cabin for a vacation. On the way to it. They notice a woman has hit a tree. He procedes to save her. Harper has also gone to her friends cabin. Trying to get away from her job. Her car doesnt do the best on the country road and runs her into a tree. Harper had been best friends with Enzo's ex. She also representer her in their custody battle. So, needless to say Enzo was not fond of her. When a landslide happens and traps them together with Enzo's daughter Winlow. Will they be able to get along in front of her? This was a great Forced Proxmity romance! I love how Winlow sticks up for Harper against Enzo. After they both put their realize their assumtions were wrong. They're chemistry is off the charts! I recommend this book. If you like single dad's and enemies to lovers. This is defintely for you!
