Justuju Ka Safar

Rate this book
Justuju Ka Safar defines the struggles of an ordinary man to come to terms with extraordinary circumstances in order to discover the exact nature of his identity. Though the characters are fictitious, the land, with its convoluted internal struggle as well as its abysmal darkness of ignorance, corruption, illiteracy, and its defiance and obstinacy to come to terms with this malevolence is very much real.

Justuju Ka Safar takes its start in an impoverished, rural village in Pakistan where the question of the day is survival, even at the cost of dignity. Abdullah, the protagonist, is a nameless son of a ploughman who sets out to defy the odds and change the course of his life. His odyssey of self-discovery is through the channels of religion and spirituality. Abdullah realizes that his greatest battle is finding a voice in a third world country where poverty is a man's greatest foe. Using faith and spiritual guidance as his weapons, he nurtures his relationship with God and seeks spiritual leaders. As his education increases, so do his questions about the morality and ethics of the society in which he struggles to make his place as a Muslim. A coveted scholarship allows him to move to the US. Here he challenges every assumption he has made throughout his life about the country, its culture and its people.

The questions about life that Abdullah seeks to answer are real life narratives that frame the current political and social position of Pakistan on the global stage. Justuju Ka Safar is not only a social reformist novel but also a seething satire on modern Pakistani society. It is the story of a traveler who begins his journey without a destination in mind. A traveler who hitches a ride on any caravan that is headed anywhere. It is only at the end of the journey that he realizes that it was the wrong caravan and the wrong destination. All of the people whom he yearns would join him do not share his passions nor his visions to make the land as pure as it could-and should-be.

This is an amazing read for me at least. This book is written in the form of novel which is actually filled with questions about knowing ourselves and our real purpose here in this world. The story of the book started with a boy named Abdullah, who was the son of a poor village. His father and mother used to work at the landlord farm. The boy was very curious. He managed to get scholarship for abroad studies, despite all the hardships that he had faced throughout his childhood and during college/university in his own country, Pakistan. The book described his journey from nothing to one of the world's top Data Scientist in a very profound way. Furthermore, the second half of the book displayed his eagerness and curiousity to find out his real purpose of life. He tried really hard and travelled every nok and corner of his country to find answers to his questions. A very fascinating, valuable, and mind changing book for me.

Note:
If you are happy with your current life and read it for enjoyment purpose only, then this book is not for you. Only read this book, if you want to change yourself. This book will change your perspective of seeing the life and things that are happening around us. Even your beliefs may be changed.

It is really a beautiful book to read. It made me engrossed in it all the time. Didn't get bored for even a single time. The success story is inspiring. Simplicity of thoughts and the way the writer gets his ideas from normal daily tasks made me admire him more. I'll read it again in near future to get more pearls of wisdom. The writer has narrated his story in such a away that I felt like I was talking to my mentor and he was giving me a step-by-step guidance, whether it be spiritual or materialistic. A must read and highly recommended.

A good story with suspense and narrative built not too slow neither too fast. I think the book deserves a 3 star review because in many parts of the book it was very emotionally convincing, however the book shifts between being rag to riches story and a spiritual journey of a man. I personally didn’t like unnecessarily elongated prayers of Abdullah in the book which overall ruined my interest and i started skimming the book.

first of all i want to write here some thing about my favorit author sir zeeshan usmani
he is a best author in my readings he belongs to poor family and backward area but he was intelligent and dedicated and now he is a Data scientist and work in many more international companies i really like this type of person he got success without any source this is a man of hope and struggle .

after that this book is a novel and story about a poor and a needy boy and he lived in a backward area of Pakistan and that area is under the "wadera" system and these "waderas" did'nt want poor people to get educated however this boy got education & achieved success after many diffculties , this is a moral of this novel .

but i think this novel is based on a real story of Sir Zeeshan usmani . But i can not confirm.

Brilliantly wrote! An inspiring book to do some research about self - what's the real purpose of life and what direction we're following. An excellent guide for those who are lost in the journey of life and want to reflect and start from a point that can lead to a satisfaction zone. Sometimes illusions take us so far and in the end, leave us empty-handed and scrunched.

Great and inspired:

Very well written. Author has a very good taste in using words. Depiction of scenarios (manzar kashi) is at its very best.
Author has pictured the current society of Pakistan at a very efficacious manner, everything is mentioned as it is in reality.
Hope to read more of Mr. Usmani in future.
