Born and raised in the Faerie realm of incessant darkness, Kheelan Sincleir's present and future changes when he stumbles through a portal into the human world filled with light and into the arms of the woman of his dreams.
Single mom, Jamie Kramer leads a simple life . . . work, raising her daughter, and work. The victim of a seemingly random late-night attack, Jamie finds her trouble is only beginning. Kheelan steps in to lend a hand and support her through her ongoing problems but the stress causes her to push away from him and rethink the relationship.
Kheelan's worries are compounded when evil from his past reaches out to capture and force him back to the dark realm for eternity. He must take steps to eliminate the danger to both his worlds.
Can he deal with the threat on his life and convince Jamie to give love a chance?
3 1/2 out of 5 stars Kheelan has been running for his life , his whole life has been lived in the realm of the fairies in the dark court. Until the day he finds a portal to the human world and tumbles through it. Where he finds the woman who fulfills his dreams and lights up his life . But the darkness is out to find him and try and rip him back to the realm where he will stay for eternity . Will he be able to stay in the light and convince Jamie to give love a chance . Kheelan has come from a world of darkness and just feels like he is not worth it sometimes . But when he finds Jamie his life changes for the better. He is a sweet guy who well you know how it goes is holding on to some secrets . He is like a knight in shining armor in Jamie's eyes but she is gun shy after her ex and his underhanded ways of getting her to launder money for her. They are surrounded with a cast of characters that help them along on their journey to find the happiness that they both deserve. These characters are well written and I feel that they could be a little more complex. This is one of those books that had me a bit confused . The author takes us on an adventure on the human side of the realm with a love story starting . The story starts off as a sweet paranormal romance and soon goes dark with war and evil haunting them Overall I did enjoy the book and the characters but I do believe that the author could flesh out the backstory of a few things that were happening to make the characters just a little more complex and less one dimensional. Take a chance and try a book about love and romance and what love can over come to find that love .
The idea was there, so this book wasn’t completely terrible. Two stars in Goodreads means “it was okay,” so that’s what I’ll rate it.
The intriguing premise didn’t deliver an exceptional story, but it kept me turning the pages. The opening chapters were promising, and I liked the twist with the “stowaways” who came with Kheelan to the human world.
As I read on, though, I was disappointed in the lack of cohesion between the threats the main character faced in the human world and the faerie world. The author could have done more to tie those together and avoid the scattered and episodic nature of the narrative.
The main antagonists were one-dimensional and the world-building shallow. I didn’t get the sense of a vast faerie realm. It didn’t feel any bigger than a tiny neighbourhood. Especially since at one point the main characters are able to feed “all the needy” by distributing supplies they picked up from one trip to the market in the human realm.
Finally, there were open door love scenes that I wasn’t expecting. They felt tacked on since they added no emotional depth to the story, and I’m not sure they were titillating enough for readers who actually enjoy such content. So, it felt pretty pointless to put them in.
The writing lacked polish overall, but I think that the author has potential if she keeps working on her craft or perhaps pivots to writing for an age range that doesn’t require complexity in world-building, character development, and engaging prose.
Wow—what a story! From the very first page, Into the Light pulled me in with its vivid world-building and compelling character development. The author does a fantastic job of crafting a universe that feels both magical and grounded, and I was immediately invested in the journey of the characters.
The beginning of the novel is especially strong—funny, upbeat, and full of charm. I found myself smiling at the humorous moments, especially as the main character and his companions tried to navigate the quirks of the human world. These scenes added a delightful layer of comedy that balanced the more serious undertones beautifully.
As the story progressed, I noticed a shift in tone. The lightheartedness gave way to a darker, more introspective atmosphere. While this transition took me a moment to adjust to, it ultimately deepened the narrative and added emotional weight. I appreciated how the author didn’t shy away from exploring more complex themes beneath the surface.
The romantic tension between the main characters was another highlight. It was subtle but intriguing, adding just the right amount of emotional depth without overwhelming the plot. I found myself rooting for them and enjoying the slow-burn dynamic.
Overall, Into the Light was an engaging, fast-paced read—perfect for curling up with on a rainy weekend. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting. If you enjoy stories that blend humor, fantasy, and a touch of romance with a deeper emotional core, this one’s for you.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
It's definitely a quick read, so if you're looking for an action-packed story that's short and sweet, this is a safe bet. Really love but hate all the talk of baked goods that are made fresh and all the other yummy food 😅 Starts off with Kheelan, a mystical being running to escape what I'm assuming is the tyrant ruler of a dark magical world. I do wish the author spoke more about this world, the types of magical beings that are part of this world, and the abilities they have. Jumps right into a budding love story with a coffee shop owner who's caught in the crossfire of her ex-husbands' money laundering plans. Also a bit of a missed opportunity to understand the back story of the illegal activity a little more. Goes back into the magical realm for an epic battle to save everyone and the end... There's definitely no setting or character building whatsoever, but I still found it enjoyable to read.

Kheelan Sincleir knew that with the loss of someone he loved he could no longer delay leaving the dark Faerie realm and start a new life in the light. Jamie Kramer is a single mom and owner of a popular cafe when the handsome stranger nearly stumbles over her in the park. She had never really considered entering into a relationship, but when she is attacked late one night it will be Kheelan who steps up to care for her and her daughter. While Kheelan would love nothing more than to declare his feelings for Jamie and be a permanent addition to her small family it soon becomes clear that the evil he left behind is determined to drag him back into his dark realm. These are absolutely wonderful and compelling characters in a sweet paranormal romance with some surprising twists and a happily ever after. I recommend this book to others.

I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems and this is my honest, unbiased review. I really enjoyed this book which was a quick, fun read that will allow you to escape for a while. I did find it a bit slow at first but it quickly picked up and kept me hooked. Larynn Ford was a new author to me and I was happy with her writing. I definitely recommend this book.

Kheelan, from the Faerie realm, goes through a portal and discovers a wonderful new world. He accidentally meets a woman who's perfect for him. Jamie, a single mother, is attacked one night, and Kheelan steps in to help. Will she push him away? Will his enemies intrude on them?
Kheelan has been planning his move for a long time. He learns fast and faces challenges in both realms. Good thing Jamie is open-minded about all she learns. I enjoyed this books suspense.
