When Opal returns to the mystical shores of Crystal Cove, she doesn't expect her welcome home to include stumbling upon a chilling mystery — a dead body floating in the serene waters of her quaint hometown. This grim discovery, however, feels like a bizarre sign, urging her to embrace her newly-honed magical talents to aid in the town's dilemmas alongside her skeptical grandfather, the town's police chief.
Despite her grandfather's reservations about magic and his overprotective instincts to keep her out of harm's way, Opal senses that her abilities might just be the key to unlocking the secrets surrounding the murder. Complicating matters is the enigmatic assistant chief, Lucas Keller, whose undeniable allure is matched only by his mysterious reluctance to share crucial evidence.
Undaunted, Opal is determined to showcase her worth and crack the case wide open, especially as the police's efforts seem to wane. With time running out and a killer potentially on the loose, she's ready to prove that her magic is more than just parlor tricks.
In Crystal Cove, where magic intertwines with the mundane and secrets float just beneath the surface, Opal will discover that her powers, heart, and friendships are the keys to unlocking a mystery that's as enchanting as it is deadly. Well, I guess that'll teach me. I read the other series first and loved Opal in that one. Lucas was fine. This one? Each had their moments, both good and bad. Didn't realize just how much Lucas hated his demon side, and resented his uncle. Opal was interesting but not that same girl. Here she is newly returned to Crystal Cove after six years of school in AZ, wanting to see her grandpa and maybe use her magic to help the police solve their cases. Meeting Lucas and learning that things have changed more than she expected was something she needed to work through. And although the police did not want her help, she and her best friend where going to help solve the murders plaguing her hometown.
Some paranormal cases, some regular bad people, and some misguided, but at the end, Opal does manage to help solve the cases.
The story of Opal is a delightful read. I was guessing what would happen next. I felt that the characters were well written and the witchcraft was not to far out there in the supernatural vein. It was entertaining and informative but realistic to the modern solitary witch practitioner. Hope there will be more story to come for Opal, Lucas and Bandit.
Crystal Cove Paranormal Cozy Mysteries Books 1-6 by Cindy Stark. Opal returns to Crystal Cove after 6 years at witch school. Her grandfather, the Police Chief, is acting strange and his deputy Lucas sets her heart racing but there’s something dark about him. Before she can get to her home she finds a dead body.
This is a solid story! The characters are amazing. I truly enjoyed reading this series. I hated when it ended. I don’t believe you would be disappointed . The heroes of this story is a blurry line because so many step up, you still know who’s at the top. I look forward to reading more of your books.
Loved the 6 book series! So creative and fun. Sad to see them go. I hope you will bring them back for further adventures, more family (Lucas and Opal Wedding, children, etc.) It doesn't feel they are done yet! Here's hoping! 🥰
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these books, they have everything you could want in a book, great storyline, fantastic characters, magic, mystery, demons and animals
A light and easy read of a series of mystery stories. A lot of teenage angst amount the adults and a lot of dangling and loose threads but entertaining
