Infidelity. Chid custody drama. Childhood trauma. The protags of Elizabeth Webster’s fabulous novel, Summer Triangle, have a lot to navigate in this beautifully crafted beach read. Filled with descriptive prose and plenty of emotion, Summer Triangle is the story of Natalie, Eliana, and Allegra - three privileged women whose lives intermingle during a getaway on Rehoboth Beach. Each woman is working to navigate complex personal issues and relationships - and Webster blends the lives of these characters seamlessly. It’s a perfect balance of emotion and smart dialogue, set against the backdrop of an idyllic setting. If you’re a fan of multi POV women’s fiction that focuses on marriage/motherhood woes and female friendships, this one should be at the top of your TBR.

3.5⭐️

Elizabeth Webster is a master wordsmith. This book is full of beautiful descriptions.

The story itself focuses on 3 women working through their past trauma and current obstacles, and finding comfort, friendship, and strength in each other and their found family.

This is not a book I would typically read. I usually like my books a little heavier on the romance. That said, I liked it.

Elizabeth Webster's Summer Triangle is a poignant women's fiction novel following three women, Natalie, Eliana, and Allegra, whose lives are intricately interwoven through shared histories, personal struggles, and the unyielding bonds of friendship. Set against the backdrop of their respective family lives and professional careers, the novel explores themes of identity, maternal responsibility, and the enduring power of past experiences.

Webster's prose is evocative, emotionally charged, and effortlessly draws readers into the lives of her characters. I particularly enjoyed her ability to weave complex narratives for each woman while maintaining a cohesive story. Natalie's journey, grappling with a challenging past and its impact on her present, is particularly compelling. The nuanced portrayal of her struggle to balance her professional ambitions with personal demons adds another emotional layer to the narrative.

Eliana's character arc, exploring the dichotomy of her public life as a celebrity's wife against her private struggles with identity and motherhood, offers a fascinating insight into the world of superficial glamor. The author's subtle critique of societal expectations placed on women, especially in the public eye, was thought-provoking.

While equally engaging, Allegra's storyline sometimes feels overshadowed by Natalie and Eliana's more dominant narratives. However, her battles with personal loss and the complexities of motherhood in the face of societal judgment add a valuable perspective to the novel's overarching themes.

The book's title, Summer Triangle, serves as an apt metaphor for the interconnectedness of the protagonists' lives, much like the asterism it's named after. Webster's skill in aligning their stories to reflect on each other while each retains its own brilliance is fantastic.

Summer Triangle is a beautifully written exploration of the multifaceted nature of women's lives. It's a novel that will resonate with anyone who appreciates complex character-driven stories. It is ideal for readers who enjoy women's fiction that delves into the intricacies of relationships, identity, and resilience.

Summer Triangle by Elizabeth Webster is a delightful, lovely, and meaningful read. Two childhood friends (Eliana and Natalie) spend the summer at the beach to heal, reconnect, and face painful wounds. They bring their children with them, and it isn't long before they all become family. Friendship and family are two very important themes in this novel. Despite the many problems they both bring with them to Eliana's summer home, the bonding of their deep friendship helps them to overcome heartbreak from the present and the past. Eliana and Natalie meet Allegra over the summer, and it isn't long before Allegra becomes part of their sisterhood. Allegra is also battling her own pain and meeting Natalie and Eliana begins a road towards transformation, belonging, and new love. Her children also enjoy the time they spend at Eliana's beach house enjoying the company of new found friends of their own in Natalie and Eliana's sons and daughters.
Natalie is a nationally known designer, and she helps Allegra redecorate her home which coincidentally is the home Natalie grew up in as a child. Her childhood was difficult, and the work is deeply therapeutic for Natalie. This beautifully redone home also gives Allegra a fresh beginning. Natalie's career involves redoing, "fixing" things, reconstructing, and designing. Themes of redoing, mending, new beginnings, and recovery are also a large part of Summer Triangle. Eliana's husband Josh, Natalie's husband, Harris, Eliana's brother, Andy, and Natalie's past love, Damon all play significant roles in this story.
The writing is beautiful and descriptive. The author makes you feel that you are also on the beach for the summer with these characters. You will find togetherness, fun, love, deep friendships, and the allure and restorative nature of the seashore in this novel. I loved this story and found it hard to put down. This book can be enjoyed at any time of the year, but if you don't have a "beach" or a "pool" read yet, you won't be disappointed in Summer Triangle. I give this novel 5 stars and highly recommend it. Don't miss this carefully crafted, vivid, and uplifting read!
