In a world where lies can spark wars, a heart's betrayal could be the deadliest move.
Carmine Carmine has been groomed to lead the Gaudino empire with an iron fist. I live by loyalty, power, and vengeance. Then, I receive a shocking Marry Arianna Bencivenga, my rival's daughter, to forge peace and secure an heir. Her innocence is a glaring contrast to the bloodstained world I command, a symbol of everything I've been taught to exploit. Falling for her is not an option. Men like me don't yearn for love; it's a weakness to be crushed. Yet, her resilience draws me in against my will. Now I'm a man divided—torn between the empire I was born to lead and my new desire to protect what I was meant to break. Amidst family betrayals and a looming showdown, the biggest threat might be one I never saw coming—falling for my enemy. Gaia I’m face-to-face with Carmine Gaudino, the heir to a family that killed my brothers. I agreed to swap places with my vengeful twin until the wedding day—it’s the only way to secure our family's fragile peace. But Carmine's magnetic presence draws me closer. His aura of power and danger defies my intentions to remain pure. His unexpected tenderness beneath that ruthless exterior challenges my beliefs. I can’t succumb to my desires—it would be a betrayal of my family and faith. And Carmine would never forgive me for hiding my true identity. Yet my heart won’t stop longing for a man I was never meant to have. How will I survive this?

We have two crime organization families the Bencivenga and the Gaudino’s. There is a war going on between them and they both have lost son’s and soldiers due to this war. The Bencivenga’s Father want’s to offer a peace treaty by marrying off one of his twin daughter’s. The Gaudino’s who only have one son Carmine will accept this offer if the woman is fitting for Carmine.
The sister to be giving to Carmine is Arianna she is strong willed, slighly over bearing and promiscuous even though her father is lying to pass her off as a Virgin as well. She asks her sister Gaia to meet Carmine and go along with his courtship as her. Because her sister is meek and innocent and actually is a virgin who spends her free time volunteering at the church and focusing on her studies in college. She believes Carmine will fall for her sister and set a wedding date Quickly. She believes that if she goes along with Carmine as her self he will see that she hates his very soul and blames him for her brother’s death and call off the engagement.
She wants the engagement to happen because she plans to kill him on their wedding night. Even Gaia does not know this! Gaia agree’s to play as her identical twin sister but believes she has bitten off more than she can chew! Carmine is thirty-two and doesn’t hold back anything when it comes to Twenty year old Gaia or should i say Arianna…
But Gaia began’s to have feelings for Carmine as the months move along and finds out her sister’s plan! She has to stop her sister and also tell Carmine the truth and hope that he still wants to marry her and that he won’t kill her after learning she has been deceiving him.
This book was so good! The breakdown of the character’s was very well put together! I loved every character’s POV. You can feel the angst and slow burn! As you wait to see how everything pans out!! I cannot wait to read the next book which is about Arianna.
For the author's first book, the editing is amazing. Usually, it isn't very good, but color me pleasantly surprised.
The story is about Carmine and Gaia, both of whom have lost multiple brothers to the war against each other. So Gaia's father arranges for her twin sister, Arianna, to marry Carmine, in order to reach a truce between them. Arianna knows that if Carmine gets to know the real her, he won't proceed with the marriage and she needs him to because her plan is to kill him and his family after the wedding, so she manipulates Gaia into pretending to be her and date Carmine.
The story started very slow to the point that I almost DNF'd it several times, but I skipped until I got to the actual story and not the background. I wish Carmine was a little darker - it is a mafia romance, after all and that probably would have bumped my rating up, but he's very chill and easygoing.
Samara is one of my favorite authors! She writes amazing, fast-paced, action packed and super spicy mafia books. This one is absolutely amazing! I have been recommending it to everyone I know and I want to recommend it here too! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love the sweet moments of the MCs falling in love and learning both family dynamics. The 3 POVs made the story even better for me. There's so much to say about this book, but it's tough to avoid spoilers. The characters are so compelling. The story is so well written. And this series has me hooked. Add to the top of your TBR immediately!
This one took me longer to read but not because it wasn’t good, it was simply well because motherhood & hurricane Milton but I do see why you said “see how much Gaia gets on your nerves” because I love how their story plays but she really did annoy me had me rolling my eyes left & right but I loved it I plan to start reading Forgive me Father sometime this week I can’t wait to read how Arianna’s life turns out
WOW! As a newcomer to the world of mafia romance, I found myself completely enthralled! The plot's numerous surprising twists and the opportunity to explore the realm of the New York Italian mafia truly captivated me. I am truly fascinated by it! Additionally, I appreciate the impracticality of the book and the ruthlessness of its characters. Enjoyed it all!
I really liked this story. Loved the candor and raunchiness of the characters. The author did not play it "safe" with her writing, and there are some unexpected turn of events that were surprising and welcomed by this reader. I will be following this author. Looking forward to book #2. Thanks for the trip, Samaria Jones!
Good book I read it super fast and kept me interested most of the time I unfortunately saw the big twist coming at the end and then it sorta felt rushed for the HEA. Also... why when he wants to suck on her breasts do we have to say "feed" or "feeding" definitely pulled me from the moment but thats probably just a me thing! 😅

Wow. I’ve read a few mafia romances before and I find them entertaining enough but usually very predictable. That was NOT the case with this book. The characters have meaningful depth and development, and the storyline is so unique and unexpected that it sucked me right in. And it’s spicyyyy. All the emotions and angst come together for an intense and very satisfying read. This is an incredibly well written story, especially from a new author. Can’t wait for more of her books! More more more!
The Bencivenga's Gaudino's are at war and mercilessly killing men on both sides, and the only way to establish peace is for Carmine Gaudino to marry one of the twins, a fiesty-disappointment to the Bencivenga family. With the engagement set and the soon to be bride less than pleased to be apart of this marriage as she'd rather have every Gaudino's head on a spike for killing her brothers will this couple ever make it to the alter. Especially with everyone around them trying to continue this war behind their backs.
Holy cow, what an intense read! It is truly a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Samara is an insanely talented writer, and honestly, this is the fastest I've completed a read in a hot minute. I've literally lost sleep over this one. Like I didn't go to bed until 3 am because I was hooked! There's drama, passion, and betrayal at every turn. The twists and turns will keep you itching to read more.
