Can you tell if you're being possessed by a ghost?
It was no mystery why I hated Genesis Gusano. She liked to take other people’s things. The bitch stole a pair of my cutest shoes along with my favorite necklace and a school paper I’d written, which had nearly gotten me expelled from Haverick University entirely. But the last straw came when she dared to take the one thing I’d been pining over for two years.
Him.
I had craved Hudson Ivey in a way I didn’t even know craving was possible, and that was before I’d learned his dang name.
He had no idea he’d become a possession that two enemies were warring over. All he wanted to do was graduate with his culinary arts degree and become the best chef possible.
But now he’s stuck in Genesis’s sick game until a ghost from his past changes all the rules, possessing him in a whole new, far more dangerous way.
I promised myself I was done with the paranormal life. I was determined to be a normal, everyday, average girl. But I can’t just stand aside and watch him be destroyed. So I guess it’s time for a little Faith to step in and save the day.

Guest, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
I didn't particularly like or was impressed by the female lead in this story, Faith. Thankfully, Hudson and the rest of "The Seven" along with Oaklyn, made up for it. The plot, both relationship-wise and ghost-wise felt OTT at times and too far-fetched. Still, I'm intrigued by all the guys, their past and what the future holds for them to not read the next book.
"...let me tell you, darlin', I think you and I are going to be great friends."
Faith Woods was kinda obsessed with Hudson Ivey, but he didn't even know she existed. Which was just as well, as he was her arch-enemy's boyfriend. However, things aren't really quite what they seem. When Faith and Hudson's paths finally collide, Hudson is taken with this young woman who his friends keep saying has a massive crush on him. He's curious as well as attracted. And, the more time they spend together, the more he's coming to realise that she might well be the girl for him...but, again, life is about to throw him another curveball.
"...you need to step out of my arms and physically back away from me because I don't think I can let go of you on my own....I don't ever want to let go of you again."
I loved this story! Faith and Hudson's exchanges were cute, flirtatious and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the unfolding of their storyline and Faith coming into her own. I loved Hudson's found-family of broken guys - the love and brotherhood they had was heartwarming. Faith and Hudson were so natural with one another and I enjoyed the way their friendship evolved into something more. Looking forward to the next story in this series.
For me, yes. Emotionally. But that is not the reason why this garnered a lower rating from me. It's because I was bored as hell. As simple as that. OK, that's all.
I absolutely love Linda Kage, so I was super excited to receive an ARC of book 2 in her paranormal romance series, The Seven.
While not necessary, I highly recommend reading the first book in the series before diving into this one. Here is a link to my review of book 1, Vacancy: https://brittanicaboldsbabblings.word...
What I loved about the book: 1. I loved Hudson with all my playboy loving, himbo lusting heart! He was hilarious and definitely the heart of this story. I loved his happy-go-lucky attitude and the fact that nothing surface-level bothered him. Of course, this is because of his deeply tortured soul and grief he was still enduring 10 years after the events that changed his life forever, but boo got through it like I knew he would!
2. I adored Faith. She was an incredibly smart and resilient woman who happened to have some stunning secrets of her own. I loved her complex character arc from being closed off and Type A to embracing the mess that came along with her secrets and her twin flame. Her undying support for Hudson was beautiful to see.
3. This story had a lot of humor! Some of the antics that Hudson got up to were just ridiculous and completely adorable. All the stuff he did in Faith’s apartment when he was supposed to be in and out quickly had me rolling in laughter. Who does that?!?! Well, Hudson Ivey apparently. I also found Faith’s reactions to his antics equally hilarious and really couldn’t help but feel they were truly perfect for each other.
4. Despite all the opportunities available and almost justifications (ALMOST!), there was no cheating! I loved how realistic Faith was about wanting to given the background for revenge (I mean, I can’t say most of us wouldn’t at least THINK to do the same); but I also loved how adamant Hudson was that even though he was only with Gen for reasons X, Y, Z and he didn’t like her at all (was, in fact, waiting for her to break up with him), he was no cheater! I honestly would have lost a lot of respect for these characters if anything happened, and I believe Linda Kage knows that, thus she kept her MCs faithful.
5. I loved watching Oaklynn’s abilities change in this story, as well as Keene’s deep interest in figuring out just what the hell was going on! I like that no one understands Oaklynn’s abilities or the extent of them at this point, which I feel will continue to develop as the series progresses and will be fun to watch. I foresee a lot of “what the hell is happening with Oaklynn now?!?” moments in the future.
6. The found family vibes in this series continued to be *chef’s kiss*. Starting book 2 definitely felt like I was returning to a friend group I loved. I liked how Oaklynn definitely was just one of them now, and how Faith was brought into the fold. This group of seven is going to become fourteen real quick!
7. Despite this bad boy clocking in at 468 pages, the story was so quick and engaging that I couldn’t help but complete it in no time at all.
8. I’m going to make my prediction now: Parker is going to be my heart in this series. The prickly/loner alpha lover in me is seeing some delicious signs.
Thank you to BookSirens and Linda Kage for the opportunity to read a copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
I’ve been a fan of Linda Kage’s since I first read Price of a Kiss (Forbidden Men Series) Book 1 back in 2013 and have many of her books. Her Forbidden Men Series universe books are my go to re-reads and I’ve lost count of how many times that I’ve read them. I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down and was hooked from page one. Wow, after reading the prologue I never would’ve guessed how bad things got with Hudson after the death of his best friend Brett. I knew that he’d gone off the rails for a bit from mentions during book 1, Vacancy but just not to what extent. All I can say is that Genesis Gusano is a complete and utter b*tch and doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as Faith and Hudson.
I loved seeing Faith and Hudson’s relationship grow throughout the book, even if it was only as friends who desperately wanted to cross that invisible line drawn in the sand but never did because Hudson was with Genesis, even though he was only with her because of certain reasons. It made me respect the hell out of both characters so much that they never did. Yes, it did get close a couple of times but they refrained. I thought they were perfect for each other but they do have quite a few hurdles to get through before they can be together but totally worth the wait. I found it cute how Hudson affectionately called Faith his Stalker after Keene pointed out that he noticed that she was always staring at Hudson, so that must’ve meant that they’d already had sex and Hudson wasn’t saying anything. Keene was the stalker in that moment.
It made me smile seeing all the changes that Hudson made in Faith’s apartment after she’d given him her keys so he could go get his watch that he’d left at the restaurant the night before. She’d taken it home to clean it since it had gotten dirty after he’d thrown up all over himself the night before. She’d planned to give it back to him once she’d cleaned it. It was also awesome to see how protective Faith was of Hudson when his friends left him in that state in the restaurant and then gave Parker hell when he came back to get Hudson telling him that he needs to keep an eye of Hudson for the night. I also really liked the paranormal element during this book and that it was different than book 1. Seeing the lengths that they’d all go to try and save Hudson was beautiful. I wonder how Oaklynn’s gifts will grow the more she uses them?
I also thought it was cool that Faith’s gifts were basically the opposite of Oaklynn’s. I absolutely love the Seven. Hudson and his friends/found family all met at a grief support group as kids. They all have such distinct personalities that shine through the pages and have each other’s backs. They don’t mind giving each other sh*t as well as happily calling each other out on it. Oaklynn is part of their found family and Faith has been brought into the fold. They’ll definitely be 14 soon enough. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of their books as the series continues. It’s Foster’s turn next and I’m looking forward to reading his book when it’s released later this year. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
I received this book for free. This does not impact my review in any shape or form.
My Enemy’s Boyfriend, by Linda Kage, is a paranormal new-age romance about letting go of the past, no matter how painful it may be. After celebrating Damien finding his true love, Hudson is left with a girlfriend he doesn’t want to keep his job at a restaurant where he hopes to become a chef. When he starts to experience strange symptoms, such as headaches, he is left scrambling, trying to find answers that might no longer exist. Meanwhile, Faith is reeling from a former friend's betrayal, from getting her paper plagiarized and almost expelled from college, to finding out her crush had been snatched away. Despite the chaos, Fath tries to keep her head down and finish school, only to run into said crush at the restaurant where she is waitressing. So begins a turbulent tale of humor, comedic stalking, and unwitting horror as Hudson and Faith try to navigate their way through the shitshow life dumped on their laps.
Just like in Damien and Oaklynn’s relationship, Hudson and Faith’s strengths lie in their friendship with others. I loved how easily the group accepted Faith and how far they would go against Hudson’s wishes to keep him and Faith safe. True, it might not be the best option at the moment, but it’s better than letting him die alone. It’s something I can’t help but respect, especially in my line of work; clients who struggle with self-harm tend to isolate themselves from their loved ones. If you add substances to the mix it can get dicey. So for Hudson to practically force himself to rely on them even though he wants to run and hide says a lot about his maturity. It’s the same with Faith; true, their initial connection might seem a little immature, but it developed despite its short time frame. I felt like both characters were fleshed out, and though the circumstances might’ve been goofy at times, they gave me a reason to root for their happy ending.
But the flaws that were plaguing Vacancy are present here. It feels like I’m reading a young adult novel, from the mean girl on campus who can control whomever she wants just by flaunting her money and status to the untouchable hotties that no one can seem to get to know. There’s less sex present in the second book than in the first, but it seems like Kage thinks all college students have on their minds is sex. To be fair, this is the case for some, but in my opinion, the mindset seems to detract from Hudson and Faith’s relationship rather than add to it.
However, Kage definitely knows how to add humor to the situation. I like the idea of a priest coming there to exorcise a ghost, only to bail and say,” You’re on your own” with a mischievous spirit chasing everyone around with a knife. I also enjoy the concept of a stalker’s “prey” breaking into said stalker’s house to rearrange everything and cook meals for them.
As such, I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
MY ENEMY'S BOYFRIEND is the second book in The Seven series. You could read it as a standalone, but you'd be missing out on friendships/relationships/history if you did. If you're not bothered about that, then go for it.
Faith hasn't had it easy at Uni, from having her work stolen and plagiarised, to her nearly being expelled for said plagiarism. And I don't even need to mention that her long-time crush is now with her arch-nemesis. Faith is a fighter though and manages to stay in Uni, even if she does lose her so-called friends. She keeps her head down and does her job/assignments, determined to do the best she can. As for Hudson, well, he's doing what he has to to try and secure his future, however distasteful it may be.
I loved this pair! Hudson and Faith are so funny together, especially when you see how Hudson reacts to having his very own 'stalker.' I laughed out loud when he went to Faith's apartment and did what he did, especially when I read her response. These two are so good together, and I appreciated Hudson's morals in wanting to but not doing anything while he wasn't free to do so, no matter the circumstances.
This was a great story that focussed on Hudson and Faith, but also let me catch up with Oaklynn and Damien too, as well as giving hints to Foster's story. A great addition to the series and absolutely recommended by me.

An engaging read with vast emotion, tension, and humour. A lively novel set against the backdrop of high school rivalries and intricate relationships delivers a really interesting read to capture the readers' interest from the first page to the last.
Reese is a really likable, imperfect heroine, struggling with her emotions, guilt, and her burgeoning attraction to Mason. Her inner struggles are very relatable, making the reader understand her situation in an easy way. Mason too is an equally developed character and gives more than just playing the role of the "boyfriend," and it feels like they have some kind of real chemistry going on.
The novel moves at a terrific pace, bolstered with just the right amount of tension and suspense that will keep those readers completely engrossed in the novel. There is nothing so out of place and naturally flowing within the dialogue, making their interactions very authentic.
I was unsure why the author's name was familiar when offered this arc, but the moment I realized that I had LOVED two of her other books, I very greedily took this copy for free!
I read the first in the series already, so I was really excited to be able to get an advanced copy of the second book. I'm not sure why, but I never would have expected it to be Hudson's story. He seemed like a bit of an ancillary character, to me. I was not disappointed! In fact, I learned something new about one of the other characters while reading it. The concept of Hudson being "haunted by a ghost" seemed really bizarre to me, but once you read a bit, it all becomes clear. Not any less bizarre, mind you, but clearer… I know that I have been a bit like Faith, myself. Pining after someone that I would never have the gumption to talk to. To see how it all worked out in the end, gives a person hope.
If you enjoy reading great stories, you have to read this book! But ONLY if you want to read a GREAT story…
I received an ARC and this is my honest review. I absolutely loved this book. It was fast paced, emotionally gripping and all around a fantastic read for me. I absolutely ate it up. It is book two of The Seven series that are interconnected stand alones, you don't have to read book one but I highly recommend it. This book follows Hudson and Faith in their journey to finding acceptance and love. Their story is so beautiful and emotional, and the slow burn? Let me tell you this book burns SLOW, I mean they didn't even kiss untill like 70% in. Let me tell you I freaking loved it! The build up, the tension and angst, so good. Honestly while I was reading this book I got the same feelings I got when I read Linda Kage's Price of a Kiss (book one of Forbidden Men) and let me tell you that was my favorite book of hers ever. So to get that same feeling while reading this? It was amazing! I absolutely loved this book, I love all of the characters in the Seven and I can't wait to get book three! Thank you Linda for another incredible reading experience.
I loved it! I have read the other novel in the series and loved it, this novel did not disappoint. I love a novel that has twists and unexpected turns. From the first chapter this novel grabbed ahold of my attention and held on tight until the very last page. Even then I did not want it to end. I have read other novels by this author and always get lost in the pages. I loved this novel. I really enjoyed Faith and Hudson. I loved Hudson, he was so easy going and so much fun. I really enjoyed the dialogue and banter between all of the characters. I especially enjoyed their circle of friends. I love when a novel keeps me on the edge of my seat guessing what is coming and I can't stand to put the novel down. This novel did exactly that for me. Loved it!! I can't wait to see what is coming next from this author.
Let me just start by saying Linda Kage writes the best found family novels!! First with the Forbidden Men series and now The Seven. I always eat this trope up and I think that is one of the best parts of this book. I couldn't get enough of their witty banter and the amount of love the Seven have for each other. Hudson was such a playful and fun character, I enjoyed how much Hudson and Faith's personalities balanced each other out, they're perfect together! It was also nice to see little snippets of Oaklynn and Damien from the first book and how Faith was brought into the group. I cannot wait for the next book in the series and how Linda will incorporate paranormal elements into it!

Another great standalone installment in "The Seven" series by Linda Kage! Living up to the perfection that was "Vacancy" seemed like a tall task, and although Oaklynn and Damien still own my heart, Hudson and Faith managed to steal a tiny piece of it with their story. The playful banter and weird nicknames they gave each other were so endearing, and their intense chemistry was fantastic to witness, even if it was initially a little one-sided for Faith. As someone who really enjoys paranormal romances, I am so happy with the way this series is progressing, and I cannot wait to see what Linda Kage has in mind for the other members of "The Seven" (especially Alec and Parker, since I find both characters to be very intriguing).

My favorite part of this series is the deep, beautiful relationships between “the seven.” I loved how this book showcased the true meaning of friendship in a heartfelt yet humorous manner. While there were some very deep topics in this book, they were addressed in a way that didn’t feel too dark or depressing. In fact, the novel was quite lighthearted.
I really enjoyed the romance between Faith and Hudson. They had so much chemistry, and their banter was cute and entertaining. However, I thought Hudson was a little emotionally immature, and his declaration of his feelings for Faith was a tad lackluster. The supernatural element was very interesting and unique though, and the book’s conclusion wrapped everything up satisfactorily.
Overall, this novel was a lovely romance with lots of wit and depth. I highly recommend it.

Faith is kinda obsessed with Hudson, but he doesn't know she exists. On top of that he is dating her arch-enemy Genesis. Their paths collides and Hudson is instantly taken with Faith. He is only dating Genesis to keep his job. On top of that a ghost.
I love this book. I love the nickname he has for Faith and that he got her a cat. I love how easily she slides in to the group and I really hate Genesis. I hate bullies and she is a top tier bully. Love that despite all the opportunities available and almost justifications there was no cheating. Hudson is a good man.
Love the background story for Hudson and why he was in grief support group, where they all met as kids. Love a good background story.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Reading this one was like coming back to old friends. Excited to see what is next.
Wow! Linda has done it again! I absolutely adored Hudson and Faith! These two were the absolute definition of slow burn and soul mates. I loved the fact that Hudson has his cinnamon roll moments, but he also brings out the spice in the best way! Faith was girl goals. She is so funny and witty and I loved the fact that she was black. Another interracial couple of the win! I also enjoyed how Faith was just like Oaklynn. I absolutely adore this series and the ghosts are a nice touch. Linda always manages to have my attention the whole way as well as keeping me on edge throughout the story. I can’t wait for the rest in the series.
I received an ARC copy and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I absolutely devoured this story. I loved Hudson and Faith so much. I also really really loved the supernatural themes running through this story (and this series so far). It’s unexpected, but enthralling and I find myself compulsively flipping pages to find out what happens next.
The chemistry between Hudson and Faith was so much fun to read. I adored Hudson’s playful side, and the banter between these two was top tier. I also loved how they stuck together when the storyline veered into more serious territory. Their love story was incredibly sweet, heartfelt, and rewarding.
I am loving this series so far, and cannot wait to see where Linda Kage takes us next. This book was basically unputdownable and an easy five stars! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars
My hearts just warms up every time I read another book by Linda Kage. It feels like co.ing home to a warm cup of chocolate on the couch with a cosy blanket around me. Minus the red eyes that I'm having tight now cause I'm finishing this book at 3 am in the morning cause I wanted to know what will happen! Hudson is a fun, witty character and I love how easy going he is and how Faith doesn't mind his tactics or his past! Faith is just as witty and has a comeback ready for him and his friends! I love the whole friend group and how close they are and take care of each other. I can't wait to read the next one and fall in love again!
I love new Seven series. it's different but enticing. By the end of the book in the last unexpected twist scene I got tears in my eyes as was very emotional and touching. if you ever lost anyone in your life I think you can find a lot in common with new series. and what I like the most is power of different types of love. it's beautiful what you can do.when you feel loved and you love others as well. Hudson is very funny, brings a lot of humour to the book. he made me smile on many occasions. Faith is an amazing strong women which doesn't realise how great she is. can't wait for another part to come out.
Faith and Hudson's story has alot of interesting turns and twists. Between her nemesis (Genesis) trying to always cause her problems in school since her freshman year..Faith has trust issues with people, Hudson has had his own set of problems and his friends has been helping with that… as Faith, Hudson and the gang works through Hudson's "issues with nose bleeds" things really takes a turn to a level of strange paranormal. I love how the chemistry is between Faith and Hudson, Hudson's personality is so charming and a prankster at what he does to her apartment!!

I enjoyed this book because it was not just a romance novel, it had jealousy, love, danger, ghosts and suspense. The MFC is a strong, independent, smart woman with a supernatural ability to see ghosts. The MMC has a ghost who has taken possession of him for over a decade. He inadvertently is hurting his girlfriend and his friends girlfriend because they have psychic abilities. They finally get their HEA. I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.

Linda Kage has a different take on contemporary paranormal and it works. Hudson and Faith were very cute together. Hudson seems to have an answer for just about everything and even outing Faith as his “stalker” in front of all his friends was endearing. Faith was a little sassy in return too, good on her. Now dancing in each others orbit Faith is the first to figure out that Hudson may not strictly be just Hudson. There the dilemma starts, for them, for Oaklynn and of course the seven. I am truly looking forward to where this series could go.
Another great couple and interesting story. I love how these two are exactly what they need at the moment. Although I was out off a bit by Hudson’s dating the daughter of his boss just because he feared repercussions. She was a bitch and he shouldn’t have let her treat him like a lap dog – or slave would be the better word for it. Anyhow, he does finally get out from under her and she gets her due – not in small thanks to Faith.

Linda brings us a new wonderful book. I'm so happy she exists and that she shares her thought with the world. I love that she writes resilient and strong heroines and she's not afraid to make the hero vulnerable. I love the chemistry between Faith and Hudson and as I was hoping, the Seven becomes the new Forbidden Men. Of course, the book follows the same paranormal air from the first book and is full of banter and crazy situations. Can't wait for the next one!!! 💗💗💗
It was good but not great. I didn't really like Faith, I don't think she was a good fit for Hudson, they seemed a little forced. I am glad I read the first book before reading this one. This book was underwhelming compared to the first, it felt boring until the last couple of chapters. I will give the third book a go and hope it invokes more feelings/interest from me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved Faith. Hudson was stupid, but I still loved him. I was hoping Thane would be next so I could finally figure out what is going on with him. I suppose Foster will do for now. I am really loving the ghost theme in these books so far as well. It's surprising because usually I don't care for ghosts. I did want to see Genesis suffer more. She was truly disgusting and the worst.
This series is a great read. It's very well written and the back story to the seven characters are relatable and well thought out. The romance between Hudson and Faith was refreshingly sweet and quite funny especially when the rest of the characters are added to the story. I like the paranormal twist added to it.
3.5 rounded up to 4. This book was fun and I love the supernatural element but it was missing the spark of the first book in the series. The seven are still a fun and interesting bunch.
This was a cute story. Hudson was as hot as Archer (bk 1) and I liked the addition of Faith to their group. The stories are their own but add to each other as well. Was okay for the second of the series.
