“A real man smiles in times of trouble, gathers strength from distress and grows brave by reflection. The silent breath of a wounded lion is more dangerous than its roar.”

This urban romance story was created to pull the emotions from deep within and make you fall in love with the content. Use your wildest imagination while reading and build a relationship with the characters who both are in desperate need of love.
Lion wakes up from a year long coma. While awake Lion realizes tragedy occurred while he was in a coma. Soule is dealing with her husband and her niece. Soule comes home to find her husband dead. This is where all the snakes come out. Soule realize her husband and family ain’t shit. Lion is trying to seek answers. London, trying to figure out who killed her father. I don’t blame Soule for folding like a lawn chair for Lion. Lion lived up to his name his presence was dominating. This book was good however you were able to tell the snakes right away. I didn’t understand how London wasn’t able to put two and two together. I would like a two so we see what happens to London
Man, if I could have jumped in this book and fought the Sister and her daughter, I would have! My favorite quote from this book, "The once prince charming Soulé thought her husband was, was a complete damn frog who needed to leap his ass to hell." I giggled at that point. - I devoured this book in 2 hours!
2.5 star. This is my first read by this author and I like the ideas behind this book. I felt that so much was going on in this book from Lion/Soule love story to Payne/London/Lauren situationship/work thing. I feel like Payne and London situation was not really clear at the end. I know London left however, did Lion ever give her best friend Soule and Payne the letters. Payne wanted to kill his friend Lion and Lauren however, he just stop and did not bring it up back. Overall I like the story and the cover is really nice. I really wanted some of the different ideas flushed out more.
Lion, full of danger and dripped in the handsome man energy he possessed. The depths of betrayal in this read is definitely a page turner. One click for a guaranteed banger.
First thing first……too many ERRORS. Sorry but the story wasn’t good enough for me to overlook that’s.
Also I’m not understanding why Soule was so angry at her 17 year NIECE because her grown man of a husband was fooling around with her. Let’s be clear the ma is a pedo. Their son was like one or two years old so that means that man had been messing around with her for YEARS. The niece was as much as a victim as Soule if NOT more. And what’s even more ANNOYING is that Soule seen all the signs BUT CHOSE to ignore them because her husband was a “good man” and he WOULD NEVER do anything that. *roll eyes*. I’m not understanding why this man taking advantage of her niece was ignored and she approached the girl as if she was a grown woman. Talking about she’s a home wrecker sorry but I felt no empathy for Soule. She came off very weak minded and it made sense why he held onto her. Because she was weak and very much a pick me. She gave if her niece came to her and told her what the husband was doing that she would have sided with the husband. Quite disgusting.
Also I’m trying to understand how the author decided to make Lion a hitman. Considering before his near death experience he was a drug dealer. Correct? Umm okayyy….
And my God I got tired of the Lion references.
Londyn and Payne yeahhhim pretty sure they got a story but I don’t think I care enough to look for it.
The story was an okay read and with all the grammatical errors I gave it 2 and half stars. I just feel like when you’re selling a product especially a book. All the errors aren’t a good look.
3.5⭐️ - this story had me on edge for the final 50% of the book. I felt bad for Lion because he was trying to mourn and avenge the death of his wife, but he was summoned to help the enemy, as well. Whew. 😥 Solei is also dealing with a loss but I say “good riddance” to her husband because he was trash and deserved what he got. I liked the way Solei and Lion came together, it was different. Solei was the prey and Lion was the predator. 🥹Zucco was so evil and twisted, as was the doctor. Whew, as I’m writing my review I’m just sitting here thinking how much happened throughout the book. It felt like a movie. lol. I am hoping we learn more about London after she moves. Very unorthodox story but very intriguing.
Soul of a Lion was a treasure to read showing casing Barbie’s diverse story telling and exquisite writing ✍🏾 style! There so many action pack moments and memorable lines!
Good read, a lot goes on in the book but overall it’s good. Lion was a killer, point blank period. But he made an exception to love someone and lost them. Then he ended up in a coma for a year, woke up and resumed life, back to being an assassin. Met a woman and fought hard not to feel anything for her yet couldn’t help himself. MeMa was that lady. She loved Lion with everything in despite how he was conceived. Lion was her baby. She told him he couldn’t mourn a love lost forever and it was meant for him to love someone and give her a grand baby. Soulè was a beautiful soul who was in love and married to the dirtiest, nastiest, and sickest man. Denzel should have been tortured for shielding her from the man he truly was and I hated that he wasn’t because again he was filth. Shani, Symphony, and Denzel’s mom each deserved to be dragged through the pits of hell. When everything hits the fan, and she finds out, she’s devastated and in comes Lion. He makes her feel better and he makes her feel things she never felt before. London and Payne it just ain’t make sense to me. Zucco deserved everything he got and he should have gotten more. Captain that man was trash af. Buckle up y’all, the ride gets rocky during this process all the way to the end. Nonetheless I’m glad Soulè got her HEA. She deserved it!!!!
Okay, let’s talk about this one. First off—Lion wakes up from a YEAR-long coma like it’s nothing. Just opens his eyes and boom—back in the game. But while he was out, the whole world around him went sideways. Tragedy hit, lies piled up, and now he’s out here trying to figure out what the hell happened while he was laid up.
Meanwhile, Soule is trying to keep it together—dealing with her husband, her niece, and just trying to survive the mess life threw her into. And then? She comes home to find her husband dead. Like… dead dead. That’s when the snakes start slithering out. Real quick, Soule starts realizing her “family”? Yeah, they’re not it. They’re shady, selfish, and straight-up foul.
Lion’s back and trying to put the puzzle pieces together, London’s looking for her father’s killer, and Soule’s stuck in the middle of all this chaos. And listen—I don’t blame her for folding for Lion. Not even a little. The man came out of a coma and STILL had main character energy. His presence? Heavy. His vibe? Commanding. He was THAT guy.
Now, here’s the real: the book had potential, and parts of it delivered, but I wasn’t totally sold. You could see the snakes from a mile away, which killed the suspense a bit. And London? Babygirl… how were you not connecting the dots? Some of it was giving “everybody sees it but you,” and that pulled me out at times.
That said, it still kept me turning pages. I liked the drama, the secrets, the tension—but I wanted more bite. More twist. More “did that really just happen?!”
3.5 stars. Good read with bold characters, messy drama, and a strong start—just needed a little more surprise to hit harder.

This was such a good story,it was fleshed out so you got where it going and what was happening. The chemistry between the characters is effortlessly done that it comes off as natural. We get fairly good dialogue ,but I think a little more interaction between characters would have been really nice. There were a few things that could have been done, such as London and Payne. They needed their time,it was cut short.I wanted more cat and mouse between the hero and his antagonist. A second set of eyes would habe been nice to clear up.some of the typos. The ending was rushed and not that well executed. Overall this was a good story and I loved the Lion reference. Book club worthy.
This read brought out all the feels. This is also my first read by this author and you have a new fan. Lion had been through a lot and I couldn’t imagine waking up and your whole world changed. Soulé was so naive and oblivious to the situation with her husband, that I almost felt bad for her. Her niece was wrong asf but at the same time she was a child. But through everything Lion couldn’t let her go and I loved how the relationship blossomed! London was doing the most at times but she was a good friend. Payne was also a real one and I know he felt played and used, but who knows they may work it out. Great job
Ok I did not know what to expect with this one... it was like we almost came in on the middle of the of the story but as I continued to read things became more clearer. The way that Lion and Soule continued to meet was definitely unorthodox but they were drawn to each other. It was something that they couldn't help. I am glad we got some back story but you Mema surprised me but not really if that makes sense. She was not playing about her grandchild but also let him make his own decisions. I would definitely like an update on these characters because we have unanswered questions about Payne and London.
Barbie Amor and Barbie Scott, great read. I found Lion to be an easy man to love. Yes, he was a complex man, but he had many reasons. Soule was such a woman with a heart of gold. She found peace in a complex situation. That held so much mess and hatred one would never know. Secrets were told hearts were broken, hearts were healed, love was made and devils were given their karma. I loved this. I would like to see how London ends up though🤗🤗🤗🤗
This storyline and characters were all over the place and seemed rushed. I genuinely feel like this was written by two people or the author took a long break while writing because it seems disconnected with a lot of loose ends and unnecessary information. What's the grandmas story? Why would London leave knowing her friend was missing? What was the whole kidnapping about? What was the deal with the priest? Is the book a part of a bigger piece of work?
This book had me in a chokehold from beginning to ending. I think Lion may be the darkest book Bae that I've had the pleasure of meeting. His soul is so tortured.
Being shot, left for dead, and in a coma for a year sets him off like nobody's business. He is determined to find out who.
Lion becomes a contract killer and encounters Soule. He becomes intrigued by her and needs to know more. Soule feels the same way. He becomes her mystery desire.
Together, they uncover every bad deed and the person behind it all.
The eyes are the way to one's soul and when Lion woke up after a year putting things together only caused him to bring that beast out in more ways then one. Happy he listened to his mema and opened his heart back up to love. Hope there will be a spin off because what were in the letters that London left? I bet she was pregnant. What happened to Yancy, Lion's friend why did he suddenly want to kill Lion, so many unanswered questions.
Man it was weird ahh ppl in this book and I mean extremely weird 😒 This book was really good and there were several Ditch worthy ppl and let’s just say the proper justification was served to my liking ! Lion was everything and I really Liked him for soule! The tragedy Lion experienced really made hard for him to allow love to find him until Soule came into his life ❤️Mema was my favorite, she was so gangster and loving 🥰! A must read for sure ❤️
Meh...I started this book and then I put it back. then I went back to it and I read it. I couldn't get with it at first. I still don't understand why he kept breaking back in. You had already went and talked to the lady he could've just asked her out at that point. It was just a confusing ass story to me and I just didn't get the hype.
You never know who will become your soulmate. Soule and Lion were truly made for each other. I lo e his Mema she spoke words of affirmation like none other. I felt for Payne. He was truly I to London as she was j to him, maybe her heart can heal back home.
I just knew he was the cause of all of that trouble. All wives must die lol, his wife is the one who took him for all he had. That niece and sister was the worst, and needs to be put down. There has to be a spinoff, because I need to read about London and Payne. Lion had so much BDE!!!!!!!
This book, it took me all week to read it because I didn’t want to rush thru it. I didn’t want it to end. I loved this story, it gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. It’s the little life lessons in each chapter you got and I need to sit down with Mema so she can drop some knowledge on me like she did Lion. Oh and Sammy really was a B
So I know that this isn’t the end for this group, so I’m going to just check her catalog and see what’s up. This page turner was exciting, written well, flowed flawlessly and definitely kept my attention. I loved the relationship between Lion and Soule. Sani, her mother and Denzel were plain trash and Denzel got just what he deserved. Mema was straight up gangsta!
Wow! What a way to meet the love of your life! Soule and Lion were brought together by unusual circumstances, however love was found and the rest was history! Too bad things didn’t work out for Payne and London. I’m so glad Lion served Zucco his karma!! So say how Soule’s family treated her, especially her niece! She got the prize though, Her Lion!!
Loved every minute of this book. It hit the ground running and I love a book that doesn’t have a slow build up. Lion was every bit of his name. I would’ve loved more for Payne and London but what she did was the ultimate betrayal so I get it
I really enjoyed this book. I was able to read it in one day. I really loved all the characters except a few and it will be easy to know which one. I love this author and her books keeps on getting better.
Every book you write always amaze me!! Lion’s story was so sad yet so beautiful, I’m glad he got to look forward to love again. I hope to get more from these two, thanks for sharing your lifts. Forever a supporter love you girl 💕
Had some twist in it decent spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Overall, I enjoyed the book had moments of laughing. It was a different HEA for best friend I thought for sure she was going to get with Payne. I like how there were epilogues from different point of views.
This book was go good. This book lets you know that you can never keep your grass cut low enough bc there will always be snakes in your grass. This book hooked me in form page one. Where is the rest of the book bc there are so much left unturned.
