How A Man Lived In Three Centuries - The Complete Guide to Natural Health

Rate this book
How A Man Lived in Three Centuries is based on the story of a foundation member of the Natural Health Society who achieved exceptional health and longevity after the shattering experience of a near-fatal heart attack early in life. It spells out the principles and practices of the Natural Health lifestyle as expounded by the Natural Health Society of Australia since its foundation in 1960 – half a century ago.
‘The Man’, Eric Storm, collapsed with a heart attack at 34 years of age, a doctor warning him, “If you don’t mend your ways with your smoking and drinking, you won’t live long enough to tell the tale!”
Eric did mend his ways – and lived until February 2000 at almost 104, having extended his life by 70 years of high-quality, healthy living.
The story of Eric’s early life reads like fiction. It was a life of indulgence that would make many people green with envy – except that it nearly killed Eric. Before long, he met the founder of Natural Health in Australia, Leslie Owen Bailey, and started the long process of becoming well, which culminated in his legendary achievement of health and longevity.
The book puts the lie to the belief that we are necessarily over the hill after 40 or 50 years of age. Not just because of Eric’s story, but because the greatest nutritional research this century found that many earlier populations hardly knew illness – that is, until they adopted the Western way of living. The comparison is graphically illustrated early in the book with photographs.
The evidence presented – in very plain language – shows the extraordinary potential for health and wellbeing that is built into all of us, and how we can achieve a fair share of that potential, with the aim of greater enjoyment of life.
Author, Roger French, when in his 20s was bothered by health problems. This led him to abandon civil engineering and take up a career in Natural Health, which included seven years as Manager of the Hopewood Health Retreat at Wallacia, NSW, and the past 27 years as Executive Director and Health Director of the closely affiliated Natural Health Society of Australia.
Based on Eric’s and the Society’s experiences, How A Man Lived in Three Centuries spells out a prescription for how to overcome minor ailments and serious illnesses and how to enjoy life free of pain and crippling, with tons of vitality and extended youthfulness – along with relative freedom from the fear of cancer, heart disease, stroke and other life-threatening conditions.
