Bourbon Canyon #3

Bourbon Promises

Rate this book
I left for a weekend in Las Vegas and came back with a husband.

Gideon James isn’t just any husband. He’s a wealthy CEO of a Vegas casino and hotel, but he’s also from my small hometown in Montana. And it’s his family land my brothers are in the middle of purchasing from his father. Our marriage isn’t just any union. I’m a school teacher, in my thirties, and I’m sick of getting let down by men. I couldn’t find a guy to settle down with, but I found one who’s willing to help me have a kid. The fact that he’s devasting in a suit is a nice perk. In exchange, we’ll pretend to be newlyweds and convince his father to stop the sale and make an offer to Gideon instead. You know, for that happy family we’re starting? Gideon will stay in Bourbon Canyon, we’ll live the dream, and his dad will cancel the sale. Then we’ll go our separate ways. Only the longer we’re under the same roof, the harder it is to remember our relationship is fake. The easier it is to forget there’s an end date on this contract. The more I know that I want this marriage to be more than bourbon promises.

“Tall, dark, and brooding? He looks pissed all the time. I like it.”

Could you imagine going to vegas and coming back home with a husband the day after. I am happy that she caught on to why he wanted to marry her. It was emotional in his past. He needed healing, and without noticing until he didn't have it, he found a home in her. She became his home. And she fell for him. It was lovely, and the character growth was everything with a happy ending to melt my heart.

I don’t know what Walker puts in her books but they are so addicting! Maybe it’s her sprinkle of brooding men? Her dash of strong and independent women? Or the pinch of a loving family to support the characters along the way? Whatever it is, I am always so happy with the outcome at the end of the book!

Gideon and Autumns story was everything! It was beautiful, loving, heartbreaking, sexy and so well written. Walker’s stories are so easy to read and the descriptions and storylines really just keep you enthralled! I didn’t want to put Bourbon Promises down.

Gideon was previously from Bourbon Canyon. Growing up in a broken home following tragedy Gideon had to find a way out. His path led him to becoming a CEO for a Las Vegas hotel. However he never forgot his families land and now his father is trying to sell it to a local family instead of him. Autumns family owns Copper Summit, the local distillery. She remembers Gideon from years ago. A chance meeting while visiting his hotel on a girls trip leads to a marriage of convenience between the two. He wants his land…she wants a baby. One month! That’s all the time they have to lie to their families about their plan…but to also try and not fall in love with each other.

I loved the dynamic between these two. The found family, the redemption of a parent, the love of a large and sometimes meddlesome family, support from sisters, a sexy man who realizes what he’s missing and about to lose, and a woman who’s willing to speak her mind and what she deserves in life and a partner. Also those “My Wife” moments made me swoon!

If you’re looking for that feel good, small town story I cannot recommend this series enough!!

I was ready for this book, and I was not disappointed at all! I love Bourbon Canyon and all its characters! I am a lover of small town romances and finding this author has been pure gold. I fall into every story written, her strong independent women are easy to support. Her broody men, are easily my latest book boyfriends. Autumn and Gideon have a story with a timetable, but will it remain a marriage of convenience?

I do not ever want this world to end; the Bailey family is one I will continue to read. I am looking forward to our next visit to Bourbon Canyon.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I don't know what make this series so hard to put down, it's addicting. Even though this book in particular has insta-attraction, not to mention there's a close proximity which feels rushed it's not making sense; all the things I don't like in my romance, they work here..love it. It's angsty and heart warming at the same time.

I have really enjoyed all the previous books in this series but this one was my favourite one by far.

Autumn is definitely my favourite of the Kerrigan sisters. She is smart and witty and although she lacks some self-confidence when she finally finds her voice and start standing up for what she knows she deserves, I was cheering her on all the way.

Gideon is the quintessential broody grumpy man but he also has so much past hurt that he carries around with him.

Autumn and Gideon’s marriage is a means to an end for both of them - her to have the baby she so desperately wants and for him the chance to stop the sale of his families farm to Autumns family.

But obviously feelings develops and especially Gideon needs to work very hard to deal with his past before he can be the man Autumn deserves.

Such a great read. I can’t wait for more from Walker!

vegas marriage of convenience
age gap, but he’s 44 and she’s in her 30’s
elementary teacher + ceo

i liked that the FMC was not 22 years old and straight out of college. i’m over age gap romances with infantilized women. the relationship was a bit stilted, because gideon was not a very good communicator, and i would have liked to see more from them either prior to or after the third act breakup. she took him back so easily, but did he really deserve it?

Gideon grew up in Bourbon Canyon. He was raised in a broken home and went through some trauma and tragedies. He needed to find a way out so the first chance he got, he left and he went on to build a life for himself, becoming a CEO for a Vegas Hotel. Even though he may have left Bourbon Canyon and his old life behind, the town and
His family and friends still hold a place in his heart and we hear that his father is selling their family farmland to a local family instead of him, he realises it’s time to pay the town and his family a visit.

Autumn was such an amazing character. She was relatable and I was immediately connected to her. She has so much strength and resilience. She was also one of the most supportive, kind-hearted and caring people. She would do anything in her power for those she loves… She also didn’t have a problem speaking her mind and standing up for herself and that seemed to come easy when it came to Gideon. Every interaction resulted in sarcastic and sassy comments. Their banter was top-tier. It was entertaining and fun and had me laughing so much!

When Gideon and Autumn cross paths in Vegas. It would appear that they know each other already. Gideon comes up with the perfect plan to keep his family's farmland which ultimately leads him to marry Autumn. The thing is, Autumn isn’t a clueless naive woman… If she agrees to this marriage of convenience, she has her plan and something to bargain with for too!
It’s not long until this marriage of convenience turns into so much more. The attraction between them is pure and to make things even more intense, they have an emotional connection and the more time they spend together, the more that intensifies and the stronger their feelings become. They both become such great support systems for each other after having gone through so much.

I loved these two together. They were both at different stages of their life yet they seem to be exactly what they both needed. Gideon wasn’t what you would call “grumpy”, I mean he was but I think that came down to the fact that he was lonely and he realised it was that when he began to let his guard down around Autumn and show her a completely different and vulnerable side of himself. I loved that Autumn went after what she wanted and believed in. I loved so much that Gideon helped her embrace her curvy body and to love it, he made her feel beautiful, inside and out. I’m obsessed with them both.

This book tackles a lot of different topics… healing, mental health, love, overcoming insecurities and so much more. It was not a light read. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried and I swooned. It was extremely well written. The characters and relationships developed between Gideon and Autumn at the perfect pace.

Overall, this was a sweet, spicy and emotionally charged read that grabbed hold of my heart and I was hooked from the very beginning right through to the very end.

High recommend!

Bourbon Promises by Walker Rose is my first foray into the author's world. Despite being the fourth instalment in the series, I never felt lost or alienated by the intricate family dynamics. The rich, character-driven portrayal pulled me right into the heart of Bourbon Canyon.

The story revolves around Gideon and Autumn, two complex characters who meet under unusual circumstances. Autumn, an elementary school teacher, is in Las Vegas with her colleagues, staying at the same hotel and casino where Gideon is the CEO. Their paths cross in an elevator, sparking a connection that leads Gideon to take her to a club that had previously rejected her. One thing leads to another, and they end up married in the hotel chapel. However, their marriage is far from a fairytale. Autumn is aware that Gideon's primary motive is to use their marriage to secure his family land, but she has her own condition: she wants children.

The entire story is intensely character-driven, with Gideon's trauma and hurt taking centre stage. While Gideon's initial motives and actions made him a complex character to like, his eventual growth and self-awareness redeemed him. His struggles and emotional scars, which many readers will find incredibly relatable, were heartbreaking and uplifting. Gideon's journey is marked by significant growth as he confronts his past, particularly his strained relationship with his alcoholic father.

Autumn, on the other hand, is a beacon of strength and compassion. Her handling of their "bourbon-infused marriage" is nothing short of admirable. Her sneaky yet heartwarming tactics to match Gideon's determination were both amusing and tear-jerking. Autumn's strength shines through as she stands up to her brothers and deals with the ups and downs of her unexpected marriage without succumbing to unnecessary drama. Her love and support for Gideon, which felt incredibly authentic, is a testament to the depth of her character.

This book beautifully captures the essence of family and roots. Autumn's close-knit relationship with her brothers and sisters adds warmth to the story. Gideon's gradual reconnection with his hometown helps him rediscover a part of himself he had long buried. Learning the actual reasons behind his father's actions and seeing their slow but steady reconciliation was a touching conclusion to the story.

Bourbon Promises is a heartfelt story of love, redemption, being rootbound, and the power of confronting one's past. Walker Rose has crafted an approachable and emotionally rich plot, making it a must-read for fans of character-driven romance set in a small town in Montana, with meddling siblings and an ever-wafting cinnamon smell.

I love me a Vegas wedding, so this book was immediately right up my alley 💍🎰
I read this book in less than a day; it hooked me right away. I was sent it as an ARC (thank you so much, Walker!) but decided to read the rest of the Bourbon Canyon books first. I wouldn’t say you have to read them to read Bourbon Promises, but I’ve definitely fallen for the entire Bailey family and can’t wait to read the books that are still to come.
Bourbon Promises unfolds the story of Autumn and Gideon, an unlikely pair who, on paper, seem like they would never match. However, there’s an undeniable spark right from the beginning. Despite the fake marriage, a real connection was there from the start, and I found myself rooting for them the entire time 💗
I almost never love both characters. Usually, there are a few traits that rub me the wrong way. But I LOVED both Autumn and Gideon! Their characters were well-developed and paced perfectly. They evened each other out so nicely that it was impossible not to love them.
As with most of the books I adore, I loved the characters’ growth throughout the story. Gideon’s influence helped Autumn break free from the shadows her siblings had cast, allowing her to emerge as a strong and independent individual. In turn, Autumn granted Gideon the permission he didn’t even realize he needed to feel, learn, heal, and grow into his own person, a person who had been stifled since childhood. The only thing I wish I saw more of was some grovelling towards the end, but otherwise, this book was absolutely perfect.
The book was steamy (yay), but it didn’t feel overdone or cheesy. I would have enjoyed the story just as much without the spicy scenes because the romance was written so well.
This is one of my top reads of the year so far. I highly recommend Bourbon Promises to anyone and everyone who enjoys a little romance, some cowboys, bourbon, and a lot of love. It’s a must-read for me! 💖💖

I love this family, and what I wouldn't give to spend a weekend with them! I loved everything about this book, and I love Autumn so so much! Gideon and Autumn both want something that they believe the other can offer and make it a reality. But what happens when they end up playing each other? It makes for comedy gold. The player got played, and I was here for it. Autumn took no prisoners, and she brought the heat.

Gideon wants his family's land and sees Autumn as a way to make that happen. Autumn wants a child and sees Gideon as a way to make that happen. Where does this leave them, other than with a marriage of convenience? The attraction between them is perfection. Not only did they have a physical attraction to one another but they had an emotional connection. Both are dealing with family issues and lean on each other for support.

Autumn is the middle child, and middle child syndrome is so real. Gideon is an only child and wants to take what he believes is his legacy. Summer makes him see that there is more to life I love that Gideon made Autumn feel important, heard, and seen. While there was not a lot of growth with Autumn, we got it from Gideon. In my opinion, Autumn didn't require any personal growth. Summer already knew what she wanted and deserved! Autumn knew exactly what Gideon wanted and who he was, so Autumn wasn't under any illusions about their relationship. Just for that, I loved her even more. However, we did get growth from Gideon, and that made me so happy. We saw Gideon's growth after Autumn put him in his place, and it showed when he came back into town and actually spoke with his dad and did not ignore him.

We have yet to see the end of this family, as we are still awaiting Junie's story! I am giddy with excitement to see what is in store for the elusive country singer🎤🤠

This is, hands down, one of the best books I’ve read this year. 🙌🏼

The storyline kept me hooked, and I love the pacing of it. It didn’t feel too rushed or too slow. It was perfect. I found myself so engrossed in story that I felt like I was part of it.

I absolutely adore both the hero and heroine. Even though the hero was a rich CEO, I loved that his character had depth. That beneath the icy facade he has put up, there was a strong man who had a lot of love to give. The heroine always wears her heart on her sleeve, and I found myself rooting for her from the beginning of the story. It’s hard not to love them both.

This book is definitely steamy, but even without any of the spice, the romance 100% stands on its own. The way the MCs complement each other was beautiful. Another strong point of this story is the way the author addresses grief. She did a great job at showing how different it looks for different people which I appreciate.

There’s nothing I’d like to change about this book. I was engaged throughout, I found myself emotional at times, and I just couldn’t help but get that 5-star feeling. It’s absolutely perfect and I would highly recommend it.

Thank you Walker Rose, and The Author Agency for the ARC 🫶🏼

It's not often that a book takes me by surprise.

I thought I knew what I was expecting going into this book knowing a little bit from the tropes and blurb but wow. Small towns are were its at. Autumn is lovable from the start and very connectable in where she is in her life as a school teacher and her position in her large family. She may come off as someone who doesn't know what she is getting into when she decides to get married to the prodigal son of Bourbon Canyon in Vegas.

Enter Gideon James, that man! Thought he had the perfect plan in trying to get back his land but he didn't expect Autumn to have her own reasons to marrying him. When he returns home and all the memories that come to him after being away for over 20 years are not what he thought they were. His growth and forgiveness he gives to the one person he needed when he lost his mother. It was so good!

There is an instant attraction between Autumn and James yes but they slowly fall in love with their time together in Bourbon Canyon. I loved how it was equally both MC's stories being told not one more than the other.

Walker Rose is a new author to me and knowing now that there are 3 books before this one has me adding those to the list.

Gideon oh how I love Gideon. Through so much childhood trauma he never unpacked. He spent over 25 years in Vegas ignoring his father because he was hurting. Gideon is such a sweet man who felt like he couldn't have a happy life because he didn't want any more hurt in his life. He couldn't allow himself to love and be happy or even get close to anyone else. He will do what he can to make sure his mother's ranch stays in the family and does not get sold.

Autumn is such a strong woman. She has also had so much childhood trauma, but she shows the other side of it, unpacking your trauma and allowing others in to help you heal. She is a sweet caring woman who everyone loves, softer spoken and just moves with the flow. She dreams of a happy family like the one her Mama Mae raised her in. She wants children of her own, but she can't seem to find a man who lives up to her standards.

Can a marriage of convenance in Vegas between two rivals from the same town be just what these two need to get everything they want?

This has to be one of my favorite fictional worlds that I’ve read lately. Every time I get to go back I don’t want it to end! For some reason as I was reading this book I thought this was going to be the last in the series and I was DREADING it, then I found out there’s going to be another and I’m so excited!

Back to this book. Fake dating has been hitting the spot for me lately. Especially when the two people are in such different places in life, just like Gideon and Autumn. I also really liked their ages. As a single woman entering her mid thirties I could unfortunately relate very much to Autumn’s predicament, so it was fun getting to see her get her HEA. This one packed a punch emotionally too, there were definitely tears, especially with the parental loss topic, as that is yet another thing I can unfortunately relate to. As tough as that is, it makes the story much more impactful to me if it’s relatable. I was sad that this book was over, I want so much more of these two characters.

This is probably my favorite book in the series yet! I absolutely loved our FMC Autumn!

Autumn has a strength to her that I just love to see in an FMC she was kind and supportive but she also had wit to her and wasn't afraid to speak her mind especially when it came to Gideon, the banter and fun comments between these two was everything! I also love how Gideon seemed to bring that strength out of her (she already had it but just needed a slight nudge) especially when it came to standing and speaking up to her brothers. When Gideon and Autumn meet in Vegas she knows who he is and vice versa but Gideon comes up with a plan to keep his family land and that involves marrying Autumn..but he finds out quickly Autumn is not naive and she has something she wants as well.

Gideon is a successful CEO for a club in Vegas. When he sees Autumn at his club/hotel he thinks she is there for ulterior motives. When he comes across her unexpectedly in the elevator he can't help but want to talk to her. The more he gets to known Autumn he comes up with a plan to keep his land and that involves a trip to the chapel with the "enemy" (or so he thinks).

Let me tell you I loved Autumn and Gideon together. Autumn lived up to her nickname that Gideon gave her "Firecracker" and we all love the "my wife" moments! These two set a timeline for their marriage and I respected Autumn so much for sticking to her morals when the time came. I loved to see Gideon and his realization for what he really wanted and it took Autumn making the first move for him to have it all hit him like a train and turn his world upside down. While there wasn't much groveling needed I loved how Gideon showed up for Autumn to show that he was all in and that their future is what he wanted. This was the perfect example of communication, strength and growth with characters in the books we love.

Thank you Walker Rose for the Arc of this book.

Ugh, I just love when a marriage is convenience turns into a real love story! I loved the dynamic here between Gideon and Autumn! The stakes were high in this marriage! I loved seeing them slowly come together and realize how much they needed eachother!

The spice was delicious as always and I loved all of the relationships and seeing other characters from other books! Autumn was so strong and such a fire cracker! I loved her spunk and attitude! Gideon was so sweet and I loved his growth in this book and I felt for him with losing his mom. I am so glad he was able to try to repair his relationship with his dad and learn some things about his mom and grandfather! I love this world that Walker has built for us here! I can’t wait to finish out this series! I love this family so much and this small town is so cute!

This is my first Walker Rose read and I’m mad about it. Why, because where the hell has she been all my life. I loved this book! I will definitely be reading the rest of the Bourbon Canyon series. I love a marriage of convenience story line with the found family trope. Then throw in “my wife” sheesh! I thought this book would be a sweet small town romance, while it most certainly was that, Gideon brought the heat. The local boy who grew up into a dark-haired god in a suit would make any girl fall in love. Sweet school teacher Autumn knows she’s setting herself up for heartbreak, but damn if this girl isn’t strong enough to walk away when the time comes. Firecracker indeed. This was the perfect amount of everything! Bourbon Promises was very well written!

Thank you for this amazing ARC opportunity!

Arc review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I love a good fake marriage trope. Add to that a grumpy hero who is more of a cinnamon roll to his wife and I’m in every single time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the story, the writing, and most definitely the characters.

This story was sweet and fun mixed with some family tensions. The spice was spicy and their chemistry together was so hot. I loved how passionate they were when they were together. And how they brought out better qualities in each other.

They both held things back, but i loved how they progressed throughout the story. I loved how autumn voiced what she needed out of life and didn’t settle for anything less. I also enjoyed seeing how Gideon processed different memories and watching him work through his emotions.

I definitely recommend this one and i can’t wait to read more of this family and be back in Bourbon Canyon.

I love this story with Gideon and Autumn life. Gideon left an unhappy home life and moved to Las Vegas. He made it big and made lots of money. Enough money to buy his parents old farm from his father but his father won’t sell to him. Gideon runs into Autumn in his casino that he runs. They had a few drinks and they get married. Gideon has a plan and Autumn figured it out but she has her own agenda. They were so cute both agreeing to what each other wanted not realizing they were already half way in love with each other. Gideon just had to work through his personal problems. Their story was beautifully written and comes with a HEA.

I really didn’t know what this one was going to bring to the table, but my god did it deliver

The tropes were perfect, the characters were amazing and the storyline was so good.

I just loved how Gideon stood his ground towards the end and came back for her knowing everything he thought he wanted wasn’t anything compared to Autumn like the whole “you won’t leave your job”, “I just did” PERFECTION kicking your feet giddy territory. LOVED IT

There is nothing better when the man is just so obsessed with his woman

I really enjoyed Autumn and Gideon's story..on the outside this was a one month marriage of convenience for both Autumn and Gideon.Autumn wanted to be viewed as an adult and wanted to start a family. Gideon had been programmed that his family's land was his legacy but he had been fighting his father on that. Gideon finally learned a few truths and the place he called home was with Autumn and the rest of the Bailey's. This was a great story.

What it’s about:
She’s in Las Vegas with her colleagues, and they want to go to this nightclub but the bouncer doesn't let her in because, well, she's dressed like a school teacher. She decides to just ditch and go back to her room, but when the elevator opens and she charges in she collides with none-other than the renowned hotel CEO from her hometown. He looks at her and sees an opportunity, gain access to her family and get them to stop the purchase of his family land. Naturally, he takes this opportunity, gets her drunk and next thing you know, they’re hitched!

My Review:
This one wasn’t quite as good as the last one, simply because the characters held out on one another for so long and then there wasn’t even an epic ‘f#%k it’ moment. Otherwise it was perfectly fun and nice to read, but I had to look up the description to write the review and I only finished it two days ago.

It was an odd chemistry. It wasn’t all bad but with her being this teacher from a small town and wearing cozy cardigans and al and him being from Las Vegas with a suit and tie I don’t know it didn’t really match at the beginning. But I loved that he gave up his career to be close to her and to do what he actually wants to do.

Another great instalment to Bourbon Canyon

Its no secret that small town romance is one of my favourite genres and Walker Rose delivers it so well.

Marriage of convenience
Relationship End Date
Found Family
Small town

All things that tick a box for me when picking a book.

Autumn is defiantly a heroin that is so likable from the very beginning, Gideon on the other hand really had to win me over. This only added to slight angst of the story.

Now I'm waiting with baited breath for Junie's storey
