On Earth, 12 female college students board a starship for A Year of Interstellar Education. Crashing on a primitive planet inhabited by barbarian aliens was not on their itinerary…
Bonded by destiny. Divided by different worlds.
Jay-duh is a fierce and intelligent female who dreams of returning to her home in the stars, not of settling down in this primitive world. She does not want a mate, least of all me, even though my heart knows we belong together.
When her relentless search for answers sends Jay-duh on a dangerous quest, I will do everything in my power to keep her safe. Even if protecting my mate from the planet’s many predators leads to a discovery that might help her leave.
Now, I am on a quest of my own. To convince Jay-duh to follow her own heart…instead of her head. Because the undeniable bond between us is a gift from the gods—and I can give her the one thing she will never find among the the family she always wanted.
Jade and Zeleck’s story is the fourth alien barbarian romance in the Rakui Warriors series. This human-alien love story has danger, action, mystery, and steam. Each book is a complete romance, although there is a continuing story line that unfolds throughout the series.
“If you need more than food, shelter, and community to be happy,…”
Zeleck is taking advice from one of the humans, trying to learn their ways and not push Jade too hard… but everything he learns about her convinces him even more that they are meant to be together, on Rakui, if only he can get her to see that.
Jade has some hurdles to get over, not the least of which is how many things she hasn’t been allowed to choose for herself. Some people might be fine making lemonade, but she wants to go back where those lemons came from.
This done in one kindle unlimited quick read does a great job of re-introducing the world and characters from previous stories as it sets Zeleck and Jade up to goon a quest that is not just a physical search for a resource, but also prompts each to do some soul searching about what they believe and why.
Perhaps the best way I can sum up my feelings coming out of this book is, the tool is neither good nor bad, making character centric stories in which we get to know the ones wielding the tools even more powerful and important.
I read Zeleck in kindle unlimited and chose to share my thoughts.
'I am a seasoned warrior and a leader among my tribespeople. Yet nothing in my life has prepared me to win the heart of my Terran mate.'
I really enjoyed this book. Before I even say anything about it- I loved that the blurb was from Zeleck's point of view. How he pronounced her name and how her home was in the stars. Usually these blurbs are from the [abducted] woman's POV.
Good world building. I liked (well not 'liked' because it's a horrible thing to do, but was interested in) the plot of Earth's government to run a secret military experiment on these women on this alien planet with alien barbarians. I liked that it was less technologically advanced and a more simplier way of life. Not a life Jade wants. She's attracted to Zeleck, but wants to get off the planet more than anything else. I liked the way Zeleck and the younger warrior Lukka vie for her attention and butt heads. The story was a fun adventure and I liked the way the relationship between Jade and Zeleck developed. 4 stars.
Gleeful Goblin Review: Oh man, this book goes hard on feeling like an outsider, unwanted, and rejected over and over for poor Jade. She's seen 3 other couples pair up and buns in the oven already and has a lot of hesitation around joining their ranks. She's been rejected by family in her past and that creates a deep wound and sizable chip on one's shoulder about being worthy of love. There's also that whole having been betrayed by Earth Gov bit which doesn't help with feeling like settling down!
Zeleck on the other hand is VERY READY to settle down and knows Jade is the one for him. I love the advice he gets about taking things slow, being friends first with Jade and how utterly baffled he seems to be by that concept. He gives me such great Ice Planet Barbarian style to his personality in how almost innocent he is, but at the same time he's most certainly a grown up and knows what and who he wants. The journey these two go on to find their way to love and to each other is engrossing and full of witty repartee; kept me locked in the whole way through. 5/5 Stars
I received a copy from Booksprout The author's promise, at the beginning of the book, is: "This human-alien love story has danger, action, mystery, and steam". There is no danger and no real action in this story; they passed around the danger and the action is in the bedroom. Love story and steam, yes aplenty. We get more information on the rock and on what's going on on Earth. I always think Jillian is a bit rude and doesn't mind her own business; she wants TMI from others, and fortunately, they are not eager to share. I totally understand Zeleck's POV of being taken as second choice; I felt that too. I'm not too sure why the rock changed his mind but that part could have been done better and left me lukewarm about the whole story. I really liked the way the rocks chose one person to guard.
When twelve female college students from Earth crash-land on the primitive planet UD237, they find themselves part of a covert Earth Gov experiment to test human adaptability and reproductive potential with the native Rakui warriors. Unbeknownst to the students, they carry symbionts and microcomputers that enhance their survival but also manipulate their responses. Jade (h) struggles between her desire to return to Earth and the unexpected bond she forms with Zeleck (H), a golden-scaled Rakui warrior. As they embark on a quest to find Rakuium, a powerful element, their relationship deepens amidst growing tensions and dangers. Faced with ethical dilemmas and personal conflicts, Jade must decide where her true home lies, Earth or with Zeleck. Hot and steamy alien-human fated mates romance, exploring love, adaptation, trust, destiny, connection, and belonging.
Omg what an awesome book this was and I loved all the characters but I did love how independent Jade was and went after what she wanted and yes she thinks Zeleck is sexy and makes her piles race but to get involved with him she believes is a bad idea because she wants to go home and not settle down in a Rakui Village with not technology but when she is saved by the Rakuium Crystal that protected her in Jillians ring she wants to study it. Zeleck is a Rakuis warrior and wants to be with his fated mate Jay-duh but he needs to learn how too be with her but she wants to go back to Earth but with this old technology he is hoping that by working together he hopes she will want to stay. How does it all turn out in the end, get this book to find out.

An amazing story. Zeleck has known Jade is his mate the moment he saw her. But Jade is determined to return to Earth. When one of the girls Rakuium ring saves her from a stray rock, she is determined to find more, so they could use it to return to Earth. Zeleck volunteers to take her. During their journey, Jade starts to fall for Zeleck, but doesnot want to follow through as she is determined to return to Earth. But returning to the tribe and finding out that the Earth government has betrayed them, she decides she would stay and help the girls. Loved reading their story. Thanx.

This was such a great addition to the series! I loved how patient and steadfast Zeleck was with Jay-duh and how he gave her her own space and time to figure things out. Jade was an overall likeable character and I totally understood her reasoning for initially resisting the mate bond. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and love this series as a whole! The worldbuilding is honestly just unique and different from other alien romances I've read. While I did come across a few small typos, they weren't super noticeable and it didn't affect my thoughts on this book. I'm so pumped for the next book in the series and can't wait for Emily and Stromm's story!
This was a great addition to the series and I loved seeing Zeleck and Jade find their way together. She's not happy about having no choices so when she gets an opportunity to quest for a mineral that may help her get back to Earth, Zeleck joins her. He needs the time to show her what she is to him and what he could be for her. It's a fast paced read with emotions, chemistry and steam leading to an HEA. Good fun!
Zeleck and Jade, wow. Soulmates, do you believe? When you finally know, you know. This was a good combination of complex plot and characters with twists that kept the pages turning. Add in spice and it’s a keeper. I cannot wait for the next.
