Mail-Order Deception

Rate this book
Mountain man Flint Logger has spent too many lonely nights in his cabin miles away from civilization. His solution? Pen an order for a bride and wait for the right woman to respond.

Violet Mitchell, impoverished and desperate to travel west, deceives Flint into thinking she will marry him. He mails her a ticket and she arrives in Oakton, Wyoming, ready to carry out a secret plan.

But there’s a problem. The man she deceived is no longer words on a page. He’s a giant hulk of a man whose guiding touch on her back sparks pleasure throughout her body.

Flint too is struck by Violet’s presence, but her fragile beauty doesn’t match how she described herself in her letter. He knows something isn’t adding up, but he never could have fathomed the depth of her deception.

It’s only when she’s bent over his knee getting the spanking of her life that some of her secrets spill out. And it’s only when all lies are uncovered and their hearts laid bare that they discover their plans are aligned.

Publisher’s Note: Mail-Order Deception is an all-new, never-before-published, standalone book in the Cowboys in Charge series. It contains spanking and sexual scenes. If that doesn’t appeal to you, please don’t buy it.

Short, steamy, disciplined-by-spanking romance in 1890
Ms. Smarts has done it again. Another short and to-the-point mail-order bride romance. This time the woman has no intentions of marrying Flint Logger but his kindness begins to sway her. Violet Mitchell came to Oakton, Wyoming to find her sister who was also a mail-order bride but her luck in partners was not good. She married the infamous Walter Mack. Flint has a connection to him which scares Violet from telling him the truth. Kudos to Ms. Smarts by making the miscommunication between her H and h be based on an obvious fear that Violet has after finding out Flint knew and had worked for Walter. Usually, the miscommunications are based on some trumped-up thought. This is a credible excuse. Loved this little book and you will too if you enjoy short historical romance with a delicious ending. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book.

SHE FOUND HER WAY HOME

The story is part of the Cowboys in Charge series but will read well as a stand-alone. These stories are historical Western-themed and revolve around dominant men who aren’t afraid to take a young lady in hand when the need arises. This story will be about Violet Mitchell, of Boston, Massachusetts, who has agreed to become the mail-order bride of Flint Logger, outside of Oakton, Wyoming. The story does include power exchange and scenes of intimacy.

Flint is ready to settle down, and being in the hills of eastern Wyoming, by himself, he is lonesome. It is time for a wife, someone who can share his life and home, and the beginnings of a family. He is trekking to Oakton where his mail-order bride, Violet Mitchell is due to arrive. They will marry, stock up on needed items, and head back into the hills to his homestead.

Violet’s younger sister, Trina, left home to become a mail-order bride to Walter Mack of Cheyenne, Wyoming, but her letters concern Violet. They aren’t happy, and if anything, are alarming and have Violet needing to get to her. A ruse to become a mail-order bride is the only way she can afford to do so—but she has no intentions of actually going through with the wedding.

Violet arrives and Flint is there to meet her, but things seem off. He hopes it is just from the long journey, but then Violet doesn’t want to go through with the marriage, claiming she needs time to get to know him, yet is willing to go with him to his home. But even that trip to his home will come with surprises.

“He was beginning to feel like the world’s biggest fool, and a small suspicion was growing in his mind. What if she hadn’t intended to marry him at all, but had used him to buy her ticket west?”

The story will include Flint spanking Violet for her deception and letting her know that he expects honesty from her. She finally admits her sister is in Cheyenne and she is worried about her, but doesn’t tell Flint who her husband is. The time together at his cabin will have them indulging in intimacies, but then, she needs to go back to Oakton, and he can’t leave. What will happen when she gets several alarming telegrams? Will Flint and her find a way back to each other? What will happen to Trina?

“I never knew I could feel so free and safe at the same time.”

This is a simply captivating read, the characters and the storyline was simply a wonderful read
I have to say that this was a simply wonderful read from start to finish, Violet and her sister have had a hard life working every hour sent as laundress until the day her older sister decides to accept a Mail Order Bride opening to Walter Mack who lives in Cheyanne.

When her older sister Trina leaves to meet her new husband, she hopes that the life that she will be starting with her Mail order Husband will be the dream she has been hoping for. Unfortunately, when she meets Walter Mack, she soon realises that he is a brutal bully that keeps her locked up like a prisoner and is rough and unkind and she realises she is trapped.

Violet realises that her husband is in trouble and that she has to reach Trina as soon as she can but the only way she can raise the funds is by going as a Mail Order Bride, when she meets Flint a trapper that lives out on the mountains, she knows that her future husband is a good man and that her dreams are attainable.

Flint knows the Man Walter Mack from past experience and he wants nothing more than to keep his Violet safe, he wants them to have a great life together working side by side and he also knows that there is something his little spitfire is not going to tell him and he believes she may put herself in danger.

I guarantee that you will love this story it is so well written and I guarantee that you will enjoy every moment of this book a simply wonderful read,

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Flint is tired of living alone. He wants a wife to combat the loneliness. He places an ad for a mail-order bride and waits for the right one. Violet is tired of her life in Boston as a washer-woman. It is back-breaking work. Her sister Trina worked with her until she answered an ad looking for a bride and accepted. But now there is a problem. The man Trina went west for is not what he seemed, and Trina needs help. Violet answers Flint's ad and accepts a ticket to come west. She plans to deceive him and go to rescue her sister. But, the best-laid plans... Violet likes Flint and wants to be his wife, but she needs to rescue Trina. There is a HEA, and the rest of the story is good. I highly recommend it. This author writes wonderful books that are set in the past with women who get disciplined by their husbands. Great stories!

Warning: This story contains scenes of spanking and talks about attacks against women. She offered herself as a mail order bride in hopes that she could go West and rescue her sister. He is finally tired of being alone and is looking for companionship for his remote cabin. She sends him on a merry adventure, and he shows her that her actions have consequences. Read to see if she can rescue her sister in time and to see if she can accept his love and a happy ending.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Flint lives alone and it's getting to him. He would love a wife to love and take care of so he "orders" one. Violet wants to get away from a man who is keeping her prisoner and the only way to do that is to become a mail order bride. This story totally kept me engaged as I needed to find out how these two were going to make things work between them. Flint knows she is hiding something but when he finds out what it is, will he still want her? And Violet had a plan but that is getting put on the back burner as she slowly falls for Flint! Wonderful story!

Steamy goodness with a great plot too!

Violet may have deceived Flint for her ticket west! But, Ms. Smarts might just find a way to have Violet and Flint follow the trail to a happily ever after!

Ms. Smarts' books always bring a smile to my face! Thankfully it's Violet's cheeks that get red! Mine only pinkened up! And my cheeks were on my face! LOL

enjoyed

This is Flint and Violets story, I read it as a standalone. There was a couple of twists in the tale and I would have maybe liked for it to be just slightly longer. The description was good, the characters full and round, the reason it was four instead of five stars was more to do with me wanting a slightly longer epilogue

I enjoyed this story about Flint and Violet. Flint is a sweet, patient man who was looking for a companion. He didn't expect to be deceived by his new mail order bride. Violet found it much easier to lie to someone she hadn't met in real life. It takes her a bit to realise that he was just what she needed all alongside. This story is easy to read and the characters are likable.

I loved both the characters in this story. They were the perfect pair; even though I wasn't sure at first. Enjoyed reading their story.

I loved reading this story. It is very character based. Flint is strong and dependable with a huge sense of right and wrong. Violet is a poor sweet girl full of secrets. Their chemistry is hot and sexy. I loved their interactions. This story is well researched and I felt that I was living in that time with them, because of the vivid descriptions. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. This is a fast paced, entertaining and wonderful read.
