Some of the more eccentric residents from the Tucson Valley Retirement Community are headed to The Pickleball Palace in Mesa, Arizona, for a huge pickleball tournament. Rosi begrudgingly accepts her mom’s request to be her partner, though the duo’s expectations for excelling on the court are low. The tournament opens with shocking news with the discovery that a very important person in the world of professional pickleball has died. Rosi can’t stop the questions that swirl in her mind about the nature of the “accidental death”. From the annoyed neighbors of The Pickleball Palace to the disgruntled tennis pro to the competing sides in the narratives for the future of professional pickleball, there are just too many dubious people whose behaviors create unanswered questions that deserve attention. But will Rosi’s suspicions be right, or will she manage to ruin her mom’s fun weekend? The books each contain a full, separate murder and can be read out of order, but the character arcs of the characters are more fully enjoyed if the books are read in order. learned all I know about pickle ball from this book
"Dying to Dink (Your Fault)(A Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery #6)" by Marcy Blesy has taught me everything I now know about Pickle Ball. Honestly, I really didn't know anything about it before though. I hope things in real world don't get as heated as things seemed to in this mystery. No one needs to end up dead over Pickle Ball sponsorship, or other reasons related to Pickle Ball.
When Rosi joins her mother and mother's friends as part of a big Pickle Ball competition there's a big vote about to happen in the way of making Pickle Ball a more pro-sport kind of sport. This, amongst other things, spurs up some heat and a little death. There were parts I felt really got into possible motives but then it wrapped up real quick. It was a little bit of wait what just happened.
Seriously people...how can you not be totally invested with all these zany characters and the "good trouble" they seem to get into!! You just never know what will happen next!!! I missed Barley and Rosi's Dad in this book but they're in Tucson Valley ready and waiting for us to start the next. I for one can't wait! I think you'll enjoy this series, I sure do 🙂
Cute story about the characters entering a pickleball tournament. I learned a lot about pickleball. I felt the book was a little too short. I was barely getting into the story and forming an opinion for a solution before the murder and motive were revealed. I was also disappointed there weren't more descriptions of Mesa, AZ used in the story because it's a great place to visit; especially around Usury Park and the Salt River area. (It's my hometown and I'm a little biased!)
This was book number 6 in this fun series!! The characters are very likeable and a little over the top. Rosi the main character, always seems to get involved with a murder everywhere she goes.
Pickleball is the sport for the retirees in Arizona. Organization into a professional sport turns deadly. Of course, Rosi can't stay out of it and yet again she solves the murder and much more with the help of her mom and her friends.
This book wonderfully encapsulates how confused a person who knows nothing about pickleball, plays with people who do! The humor is this book was probably my favorite part. The mystery was fun and a little different but my group of characters will always be the absolute best.
