Hi, I’m Claudia Aria — the heart and the mind behind Inner Growth Press.

I write and publish self-help books for those navigating deep emotions, invisible wounds, and the quiet desire to grow. As an empath, I know what it’s like to feel everything — and still wonder if you’re doing enough. That’s why my books offer both soul and structure: the emotional support and the mindset shift.

At Inner Growth Press, healing isn’t just an idea — it’s a daily practice. A blend of inner child work, shadow integration, gentle nervous system awareness, and grounded manifestation. I’m here to turn “self-help” into self-connection.

While I write and guide the vision of this work, I don’t do it alone. I’m supported by a small, thoughtful team who helps with research and clarity — so every book you hold is crafted with care and integrity.

Thank you for being here.

Shadow Work Journal Workbook for Beginners 2 in 1
This was … extremely repetitive! Basically, this journal and workbook teaches three main things to dealing with shadows. Shadows are things such as anger, fear, insecurity, envy, etc. They’re essentially the “ugly” parts we try to hide in ourselves. It says to first acknowledge your shadows. Then validate them by telling them their justified. Then show compassion and kindness to them. There was a really good illustration of this of imagining a person wearing a mask, one that represents the roles and expectations imposed on you by society, family, or even your own critical inner voice. Over time, the masks starts to attach to your skin and you can’t tell whose who. This reminded me of “The Haunted Mask” (a Goosebumps book). It says shadow work is the process of removing the mask layer by layer.

It says many times the point isn’t to erase them, but embrace them. The (main) ways it suggests are through mindful breathing, journaling, art therapy, and movement. When I first read this, I didn’t take any notes because nothing really stuck out. So, I read through it a second time. On the second read, I *did* note some things the book said. There were shadows I saw in myself. (There have been times I’ve felt unheard when I’ve tried to explain something. There are times when I’ve felt like I’ve had to suppress what I’ve felt because I’d just be asked why are you worried about that or told that other people are going through much worse. There have been times I’ve had to suppress what I really believe in and just not say anything. A long (long) time ago, it even bothered me to go on social media and see other people’s status’s and then think of my single status.

There were shadows I saw in other people I knew. Such as the desire to stay in a relationship that’s long since lost its spark because of a fear of being alone. Also, the pressures of being married and having children by a certain age. OR the deep rooted shadow that because of up bringing and times make it seem like you always have to be busy or productive. I’ve also seen examples of the masks themselves. Such as the professional mask. I’ll just say that I heard this one can make you take on a whole nother race (complete with the other race’s laugh).

But then I realized why nothing really made an impression on me the first time. While this book does give you some solutions, it just felt like passive tactics for my shadows.

Let me give you an example. Let’s take the shadow anger. I realize that what I’m about to say is going to be unpopular. Many a person has been ripped to shreds on Reddit for expressing this BUT I have extreme anger (and anxiety) from having misophonia (which is a condition where people find certain sounds intolerable) over people’s repeatedly loud noise activity in my neighborhood DAILY! So, I’ve identified the source.

It says observe when and why. When does the anger happen? When I hear the sounds. Why does the anger happen? Because of the condition I have. What lights the fuse? A situation. Then it talks about noticing body signs (fatigue, headache, faster heart beat). It then goes into what you can do to deal with the anger like (mindful breathing, expressive writing, physical release, communication skills). Now, I just don’t think that once the noise starts up mindful breathing, is going to do anything because unless I drown the noise out, that’s all my brain is going to hear. Expressive writing won’t work because the noise tends to stop me from doing whatever I’m doing as quick as it starts and often to try to find a quieter room just to sit in until it stops.

I SERIOULSY doubt that communication would work either. Tho, I’ve thought about writing letters and sticking them in mailboxes. I have reached out with communication CONSTANTLY to my city council to enforce some better noise restrictions but so far, that’s done nothing. I’m not really sure I expect it to but I keep trying. These might “deal with the anger” but I think I need something that’s not going to just “put a band-aide” on the anger. I need something that’s going to actually GET RID of the anger. This book says SO MANY times it’s not about erasing it and that’s what I need. Not just to accept and know I have these shadows. I’m not saying my past *didn’t* have shadows but for me it’s about well what can I do about them to live a more productive and happy life.

Some suggestions were interesting tho. There was one that I first heard about when I took the physical therapy class some years ago about The Five Senses. It suggest that you pause and take a moment to notice five things you can see. Four you can touch. Three you can hear. Two you can smell. Then one you can taste. Its said to pull you away from the chaos and bring you back to the here and now.

There was also one about writing a letter to your inner child to acknowledge, validate, and just hear out any hurts, dreams, or insecurities that might have gotten ignored or neglected. I did something similar once and dedicated not to my inner child but the child I never had. It was pretty much the same theory tho. Over all tho, I just don’t feel like I got what I was supposed to get from this. Maybe I just didn’t dig deep enough. But I feel like with how this kind of work is portrayed I should have walked away with some deep truths and revelations.
