i love these they’re so fun i might even change my ratings to 5 stars with time. i’m finally caught up on webtoon and it’s getting good good (at least to me as someone who’s getting back into comics after not reading them since i was like 10 years old). there’s this completely new arc instead of individual short little stories and most importantly THERE’S GOOD PTSD REP WITH JASON🙏 and good parent bruce which i know i’m not gonna get a lot of in other comics😭

I enjoyed quite a few stories here.

I liked that Duke's arc about worrying about Bruce's response to him being a meta comes full circle here. It's the first arc I've seen be resolved over a length of time rather than in a 2 part story.

The Diana Prince story was adorable! I instantly wanted a thousand more stories about her bonding with Damian over animals. And Goliath! It's been so long since I've seen Goliath. I don't even know if he's still around in DC canon.

I liked seeing how much the younger kids have all bonded. Duke was present for both the story about the kids trying to start a fire in the manor (and Damian napping on Duke was adorable!). Everyone being team "help Duke through his first kidnapping" was so sweet! Even Damian went into brother mode and that was so nice to see. I really liked Steph being the proud big sister when she found out Damian made a friend. Their relationship was so sweet pre New 52 and it just fizzled after DC's many rebrands and universe changes.

I call BS on Bruce's wig game in the trivia night episode. My controversial comic book opinion is that I think Bruce Wayne would slay RuPaul's Drag Race. His sheer determination and past costuming and make up skills tell me he'd do a much better disguise than he did in this story.

There's (finally) another arc with Damian. Very reminiscent of his arc in Robin: Son of Batman, he worries about if he'll every truly be able to make up for the harm he caused prior to becoming Robin. It's a sweet story and Dick remains the best big brother!

We even got a Luke Fox story! I didn't think we were going to get any of those. This writing team (because it has expanded) continues to give more focus to these characters of color than the canon really has. We get a story with Lucious and Luke Fox and it was wonderful to see!

I thought the story where Harley inadvertently discourages Damian from going to school was hilarious. It's crazy how many people went to Gotham University and became a supervillain.

Pretty much the same as the previous volumes in terms of atmosphere, writing, characters, etc. I thought Alfred being sick would last more than one issue given it's the front cover. More appearances by Harley in this volume which was neat; as much as the title tells you it's the Wayne family adventures, having more villain appearances would have been cool.

Volume 5 is the final book in the Batman: Wayne Family Adventures series which follows the shenanigans and adventures of Bruce Wayne and his family. Can Jason Todd find a way to protect both the little guy and go after the big bad? Will the kids be able to to keep themselves warm without Alfred's help when the power goes out at Wayne Manor? How will Bruce, Diana and Clark do at trivia night? What happens when Duke gets kidnapped and he realises the crooks are using him to kill Batman? Will the fam manage to make soup for Alfred when he falls ill? Answers to these questions and plenty of other fun stuff awaits in this volume.

This series has been an utter joy to read. From the beginning to the very end, it has made me giggle and smile, feel all the feels and fall even more in love with characters I already cared so much about. The art in this volume was brilliant, as it has always been. This volume had some incredible stories, and I enjoyed getting in-depth explorations of characters who hadn't, in previous volumes, gotten that kind of deep dive -treatment. Over the course of this series, every main character got those kinds of two-part stories that really explore who they were before they joined the fam and what are the deepest wounds they carry. This volume also had some wonderful moments that explored the reality of superhero work. The argument between Lucius and Luke Fox, where Luke realises just how much his father fears for him every time he puts on the Batwing suit, was a great example of this, as was the two-part story about Jason Todd saving an angry child from a bad, forgotten part of Gotham, who forces him to grapple with what kind of hero he likes to be. I loved this quote from Jason, who grew up on those same streets: “Batman’s vision of Gotham has always been flawed. Probably because he’s spent so much time above the city rather than it it. I’ve tried not to be like that, to show these people I’m one of them. That I’m here for them." But is he too much a Bat-family member, too much like his adopted father? I liked the questions that story asked about heroism, and I liked that in the end he chooses to save the kid again, even if it means letting Roman Sionis get away this time; he won't prioritise capturing the big bad over saving an innocent life. Luke Fox's quote about why he keeps going, even when the work gets dangerous, was lovely: "This is Gotham. I could be hurt walking down the street, just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But when I put on the suit, maybe someone else gets to go home who wouldn’t have.”

I will once again start my ramblings about the characters with the ladies. This volume had perhaps the best Stephanie Brown story of the whole series. The two-part tale of her encountering a boy whose father is a criminal, a boy in a situation very similar to the one she grew up in, was one of my favourites and made me genuinely emotional. Her remembering her own horrible father, the Cluemaster, the way she became a hero to stop him and the way she was desperate for him to love and choose her, all of this got to me. The conversation she had with the boy, about her dad, was wonderfully vulnerable: “I think there was a part of me that thought… Maybe, just maybe, if he could see what he’d done to me, he’d give it all up. That in the end, he’d realize loving me was enough.” – “Did he?” – “No. And it broke my heart.” I loved that she inspired the boy to choose another kind of life and I loved her simple answer when he asked why she cares so much about his life: “Because everyone deserves someone who cares.” Such a good story. Wonder Woman visiting the manor and being enamoured by Damian's collection of animals was cute, as was the way Babs covers for her sisters when they accidentally wreck a priceless new drone. She is unimpressed by their mistakes, but promises to come up with some cover story when Bruce inevitably asks what happened. That was a peak big sister moment from Babs. Cass was unfortunately not present a lot in this volume, which was a bit sad, considering this was the final book in this series. Harley and Damian teaming up was something I never knew I needed to see, and neither was Harley lecturing Damian about the values of education. Also, Harley calling Ivy "my best girl, Pammy" was so cute.

Now, the gentlemen. I already mentioned the incredible conversation between the Fox men, but I wanna highlight this incredibly raw quote from Lucius which captured, I think, perfectly what it would be like to love someone who is a superhero: "Do you want me to pretend to be happy that I’m going to have to bury you before your time? Because that’s what happens to Batman’s sidekicks, Luke. They die. You wanted to know how I feel? Well, that’s how I feel.” That shit hurt. But I also love that, despite his fear, Lucius is proud of Luke. Duke gets to really shine in the last two-part story – it was cool seeing how far he has come and how he is now a competent young hero whose plans and brains the Batman himself trusts implicitly. Jason had a bunch of great stories in this volume. I've already spoken of one, but another that I really liked was this story of him rescuing a young hostage and taking off his mask when he realised the girl was afraid of him. Masks are important to heroes, but that moment also showed how, for some, they might be scary as hell (Jason's red mask especially would be, I imagine, quite alarming for a kiddo). Also, seeing him spend a night at the fun fair battling with Dick Grayson over who is Roy Harper's daughter's favorite "uncle" was peak fun brotherly silliness. Dick having a puppy called Haley aka Bitewing was everything, as was Bruce demanding he and the kids take care of Alfred and make him soup when he gets ill. They love Alfred so much and I am here for it. Alfred deserves all the flowers and all the love. Just like Cass, Tim was also a bit absent in this volume – another shame. Damian however had some great moments. I loved seeing him interact with his friend, Skylar, whom he met in the earlier volumes (I think it was volume 1), and I adored his two-part story focusing on his regret and guilt over the things he did as a young assassin before he became Robin. Him calling, when Bruce tells him to talk to someone, Dick, his oldest brother, made me emotional. Dick might be an annoying asshole (affectionate) sometimes, but he is also someone all the Bat-kids rely on. Damian asking Dick whether he can balance the scales, make up for what he did, made me feel so bad for this little child. This quote was so sad: “I have put pain and fear into this world. I have hurt others with no thought of remorse. I only ask if I can ever make up for it. If what I do now will ever be enough.” I loved Dick's response; that all of them have made mistakes, that many of them have hurt people and that the only thing that matters is what Damian chooses from now on. Also, Dick saying he trusts Damian with his life and them remembering their time as Batman and Robin, was super cute. Damian is always so grumpy, detached and aloof which makes these types of stories, where he is able to be vulnerable, hit really hard.

I will miss this series terribly. I have grown so fond of these iterations of these character and it feels so strange to not have another volume full of their silly adventures waiting for me. I love this family so much, and I have loved these stories with my whole heart. I would recommend this series happily to anyone looking for a cute, fun Bat-family series full of stories that make you laugh but also, every now and then, make you just a little bit misty-eyed.

This series continues to be the fresh, wholesome, cozy goodness I'm happy to read any time. I love these characters, and I've always wanted to see what goes on behind the more serious adventures that make it to the regular comics. I want to see how they interact off the clock or in those in-between moments. This series gives us that and nails it perfectly. I need it in an omnibus.

Overall, this was a cute run. While it feels counter to the point of WebToons for something like DC to use it, I really enjoyed the playful aspect of a series like this.

The Lian play date with Dick and Jason is one of the best. Negative note-I know why they advertised the Outlaws webtoon in the back of this volume but if you like WFA I do not recommend it tbh. It doesn’t mesh well with the Jason you see here

Another sick day, another day of reading through a mountain of pages. I'm doing the review for all of the published volumes of WFA in one instead of doing an individual review for each volume. I gave volume 1 a 4.5 star rating, I gave volume 2 a 4.25 star rating, and the rest got 4 star ratings. When I realized WFA had been published I added them all to my wishlist. I got volumes 1 and 2 for Christmas and borrowed the rest from the library so I could marathon my way through them. In Wayne Family Adventures, we follow Bruce and his family through their daily lives as Batman and his sidekicks. We also see the life in Wayne Manor including holidays, sick days, snow days, and the many pets of Damien Wayne.

There's just something about these comics that really makes me happy. I wish we had a whole movie series like this about Bruce Wayne and his way too many children. I feel like the Robert Pattison Batman could pull that off, but I digress. It turns out that I've already technically read all the comics that have been collected for the printed volumes, but it was still fun to read and there were a ton of things I had forgotten which added to the experience. If we have to know, I'll just say it here, Red Hood is my favorite Batman sidekick. I said what I said. Although, Damien is just blunt and hilarious too.

I apparently stopped after #116 which means I have two seasons to catch up on Webtoon, but since they aren't bound up in book format, I won't include them in my reading stats and reviews going forward. But this was a great way to spend a sick day on the couch.

One of my favorite tropes has always been Found Family, so this gave me everything my heart needed and more. The whole series is amazing in so many ways that I don't even know where to begin.

Every character has an opportunity to be on the spotlight and shine. I also feel like I've gotten to know each member of the Bat Family individually and as part of a collective much better with this webtoon that in any movie or show I've watched featuring these characters. Some of them I had no idea they even existed as they've never been featured in any big DC project. I'm a very casual fan and I've never read any DC comics, but I can tell the writer knows their DC history and tried to be as faithful as possible to accepted, comic book origins. I feel like I have a much better understanding of the world and of many of its characters, both Batman Familyrelated and Batman adjacent. I'm actually now interested to consume more DC media because of WFA.

This Webtoon is mainly a slice-of-life, wholesome take on the Bat Family, but I wouldn't describe it as childish or completely unserious. Though it is a much tamer and lighter take on the Batman mythos (which is usually portrayed as dark and extremely angsty), there are some episodes that lean a little bit on heavier topics. Violence is not explicit but also not sugar coated, and trauma and how some characters deal with it is an important topic discussed in multi-episode arcs. The overall upbeat tone doesn't make the story feel like it's not Batman-y; the writer found the perfect balance between fun shenanigans and the psychological complexity so distinctive of the Batman lore. It can be a little corny at times, but I didn’t actually mind it surprisingly.

Also, seeing Bryce Wayne/Batman as a GOOD dad? I didn't know I needed this, but I'm so glad I found it. Now I need to see this side of him on the big screen.

*sighs* me gustó mucho este webtoon desde que empezó a salir por ahí del 2021, andaba desactualizada y lo retomé, incluso me compré este volumen en físico porque la batfam domestic me hace feliz PERO PEROOOO hace unos días decidieron hacer algo en la historia que yo veía como una posibilidad pero rezaba porque no sucediera y… si hicieron a barbara y dick canon hiu,,, todavía me tengo que aguantar que en los cómics de nightwing actuales estén juntos y ahora en mi comfort webtoon?! ME REHÚSO A SEGUIR. sobre todo porque genuinamente yo no leía este webtoon por romance ni esperando a que idk kory apareciera de la nada y dickory se hiciera canon, NO! yo lo leía por la familia pero soy muy fiel al dickory y no me importaría y seguiría la historia por mi amor a la batfam si no fuera porque DC HAS MADE DICKORY SO DIRTY desde que empezaron los 2000’s y pues nop nop, me niego a apoyarlos así…I will always love this version of the batfam y duró lo que tenía que dura, tristísimo todo.

This last (printed/hard copy) volume of WFA seemed to have a lot more serious stories and less goofy ones, which is fine but because they’re so short the serious matters get dealt with almost too quickly (like Lucius and Luke’s tiff over Luke being Bat-Wing).

I think this series is best when it does goofy with some little moments of heart. Trying to get deep and serious doesn’t work as well, it makes the stories feel clipped suddenly.

I appreciates the series as a whole though and do hope they print more because I prefer reading them as a graphic novel than online. But if not I’ll probably check in with it online on the WebToon app at some point.
