CRC Payne is a freelance writer from Seattle, WA. Batman: Wayne Family Adventures is her first webcomic series. She spends most of her free time writing, reading, and drinking way too much tea.
i love these they’re so fun i might even change my ratings to 5 stars with time. i’m finally caught up on webtoon and it’s getting good good (at least to me as someone who’s getting back into comics after not reading them since i was like 10 years old). there’s this completely new arc instead of individual short little stories and most importantly THERE’S GOOD PTSD REP WITH JASON🙏 and good parent bruce which i know i’m not gonna get a lot of in other comics😭
Pretty much the same as the previous volumes in terms of atmosphere, writing, characters, etc. I thought Alfred being sick would last more than one issue given it's the front cover. More appearances by Harley in this volume which was neat; as much as the title tells you it's the Wayne family adventures, having more villain appearances would have been cool.
I liked that Duke's arc about worrying about Bruce's response to him being a meta comes full circle here. It's the first arc I've seen be resolved over a length of time rather than in a 2 part story.
The Diana Prince story was adorable! I instantly wanted a thousand more stories about her bonding with Damian over animals. And Goliath! It's been so long since I've seen Goliath. I don't even know if he's still around in DC canon.
I liked seeing how much the younger kids have all bonded. Duke was present for both the story about the kids trying to start a fire in the manor (and Damian napping on Duke was adorable!). Everyone being team "help Duke through his first kidnapping" was so sweet! Even Damian went into brother mode and that was so nice to see. I really liked Steph being the proud big sister when she found out Damian made a friend. Their relationship was so sweet pre New 52 and it just fizzled after DC's many rebrands and universe changes.
I call BS on Bruce's wig game in the trivia night episode. My controversial comic book opinion is that I think Bruce Wayne would slay RuPaul's Drag Race. His sheer determination and past costuming and make up skills tell me he'd do a much better disguise than he did in this story.
There's (finally) another arc with Damian. Very reminiscent of his arc in Robin: Son of Batman, he worries about if he'll every truly be able to make up for the harm he caused prior to becoming Robin. It's a sweet story and Dick remains the best big brother!
We even got a Luke Fox story! I didn't think we were going to get any of those. This writing team (because it has expanded) continues to give more focus to these characters of color than the canon really has. We get a story with Lucious and Luke Fox and it was wonderful to see!
I thought the story where Harley inadvertently discourages Damian from going to school was hilarious.
This series continues to be the fresh, wholesome, cozy goodness I'm happy to read any time. I love these characters, and I've always wanted to see what goes on behind the more serious adventures that make it to the regular comics. I want to see how they interact off the clock or in those in-between moments. This series gives us that and nails it perfectly. I need it in an omnibus.
La historia nunca terminó de despuntar para mí, así como sus personajes, que son bastante planos a pesar de contar con bastantes capítulos para poder desarrollarse aunque sea un poco. Para colmo, el final es totalmente anticlimático e infantil...
My favorite ones in this one were Damian calling Dick to make him feel better and everyone taking care of a sick Alfred while injured, they were just very full of feelings!!!
The Lian play date with Dick and Jason is one of the best. Negative note-I know why they advertised the Outlaws webtoon in the back of this volume but if you like WFA I do not recommend it tbh. It doesn’t mesh well with the Jason you see here
Damian calling his big brother for an advice.🥹 Also Selina is going to be and incredible stepmother, if shes able to deal with every single BatKid, Mr.Wayne is not a problem.

Another sick day, another day of reading through a mountain of pages. I'm doing the review for all of the published volumes of WFA in one instead of doing an individual review for each volume. I gave volume 1 a 4.5 star rating, I gave volume 2 a 4.25 star rating, and the rest got 4 star ratings. When I realized WFA had been published I added them all to my wishlist. I got volumes 1 and 2 for Christmas and borrowed the rest from the library so I could marathon my way through them. In Wayne Family Adventures, we follow Bruce and his family through their daily lives as Batman and his sidekicks. We also see the life in Wayne Manor including holidays, sick days, snow days, and the many pets of Damien Wayne.
There's just something about these comics that really makes me happy. I wish we had a whole movie series like this about Bruce Wayne and his way too many children. I feel like the Robert Pattison Batman could pull that off, but I digress. It turns out that I've already technically read all the comics that have been collected for the printed volumes, but it was still fun to read and there were a ton of things I had forgotten which added to the experience. If we have to know, I'll just say it here, Red Hood is my favorite Batman sidekick. I said what I said. Although, Damien is just blunt and hilarious too.
I apparently stopped after #116 which means I have two seasons to catch up on Webtoon, but since they aren't bound up in book format, I won't include them in my reading stats and reviews going forward. But this was a great way to spend a sick day on the couch.
(This is a mini review of the whole webcomic as a whole, not just this volume).
I've been binge reading this webcomic and it's SO GOOD!! The characters are written really well, as is the family dynamic. The plot is simple but fun and also gives great introspection to each character.
Also love the drawings, no whitewashed characters THANK YOU very refreshing to see (especially for Dick and Damian, I swear DC writers forget they're Romani and Arab respectively). Also all the characters look really pretty with no same face sindrome (I swear, in some other dc comics, I can't tell who's talking sometimes), that's also really nice.
Also loved the PTSD rep, especially how it was written for Jason! Jason is always victim of terrible writing, so it was great to finally see his trauma acknowledged and see his path towards healing. Same goes for the other characters, all their stories are written in such a beautiful way, I'm glad I read this.
I really appreciate how each character shows such organic growth in this series. Even with references and hints from other comics, their development is clearly reflected in their actions, whether as part of the group or on their individual journeys. Damian is still my favorite, but honestly, how can you not love Jason, Dick, Tim, Alfred, Barbara, Cass, Duke, Steph... and everyone else? I truly hope this series continues for a very long time. We need these heartwarming, joyful moments to balance out all the chaos and pain (even from other comic series. Why do we put ourselves through that?).
As always I continue to love the batfam. There is always a great balance of silly and fun times paired with some more serious conversations. This story really has something for everybody. I also love how many different elements are brought in from all the different comic versions of all of these characters. It's really fun to see all of the elements these authors like and therefore include in the story. Can't wait to keep reading this series as long as it continues.
Episode 95-97 are fine 98 + 99 were fun family ones 100-101 focuses on Stephanie's fears 102 - Alfred is sick and they make him soup 103 - Damian has a friend at school, and a side bit with Steph and Tim 104 - Jason rescues a little kid scared of his mask 109-Some arguments are made against higher learning in Gotham. Seems to breed supervillains. 113-Dick and Damian with Grayson reassuring him
After loving the last volume, I was a little disappointed in this one. I like that some of the Batfam members who hadn’t been in the spotlight as much got some focus here and I really loved the section where Harley tries to convince Damian that school is important, only to realize that all of her examples of well-educated people are the villains of Gotham. But overall this just felt a little flat.
Haha, well, so I have read everything already, just one I apparently skipped. But the rest was all read, thanks for forgetting WebToon.. This was a great volume with some very good episodes! Love seeing everyone, meeting new characters, laugh about Bruce's hair (didn't want to see that again, haha), and more!
I love this series SO MUCH. It fills me with such joy to see my fave family depicted by this team! They’re so well-written and well-treated and it’s always about being a family and being good to one another. It’s perfect. I don’t care about action or detective-ing! I just want love and familial fun!
