This book kickstarted my interest in biology, and I still use it as a drawing reference. I've read it so many times now that I've lost the sleeve and the spine is held together by years-old masking tape. The illustrations are nice and detailed, and there are a few photographs too.
I do have a few problems, though. First of all, it uses the mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates ordering I've come to hate, but at least it acknowledges that "fish" and "invertebrate" aren't scientific terms. It also bothers me how the bird orders aren't named in the infobox thing at the start of each chapter, besides passerines. Or how they put rays and sharks in the book, but not chimaeras. These aren't enough to ruin the book for me, though.
Also, this book was written in 2008, so some of the information is outdated, such as the order Insectivora existing.
