The Lost Kings #3

A Shard of Ice

Rate this book
One snowflake changed everything.
Now, I can’t trust anyone or anything ever again, least of all myself.

I thought I was a great judge of character, turns out I’m not. Not even close!

I watch in awe as the delicate ice crystal dances through the air before landing on his face, where it melts in an instant. Snow in the desert. Who could have conceived such a thing?
Before the shimmering drop can even run down his jaw, he changes before my eyes, and everything I knew to be true changes with him.
Taylor became my best friend when I was captured three long years ago. Now, I find out that he isn’t my friend at all but rather my sworn enemy. A fae! He claims he didn’t know. That he was just as much in the dark as I was. That a spell had been cast over him to make him forget who he was.
I don’t believe him.
I don’t think I’ll trust anything he has to say again.
We escape the salt mines and if we are to stay out of the clutches of our captors, we will need to work together as a team.
Me, work with a fae? Laughable. And yet, here we are.
As soon as I am able, I will leave. I never want to see him again.
I hate him! Loathe might be too tame a word.
I am also suddenly drawn to him in a way that is just plain wrong. I’m attracted to my once-best friend, now very much my enemy. As hard as I try, I can’t resist the twisted pull.
I would leave right now if I could, but I can’t. My very life depends on it.

For lovers of paranormal & fantasy romance, this is a series filled with magic, adventure, and delicious tension. Each book will follow a new couple, but there will be major crossovers. Note that there are scenes meant for mature audiences only.

Kylie and her best friend Taylor are prisoners in the salt mines being forced by the fae. One day a freak snowstorm hits the desert and something strange happens. Taylor changes from looking human to looking like a fae. But them and a few more prisoners escape. But Kylie doesn’t want too with Taylor because she just doesn’t trust the fae. But he’s what has keep her safe for the last two years. And this is the start of their troubles. With the environment and the evil queen and other fae that are controlled by the Queen. This was another simply wonderful read, great characters and plot will keep you riveted
I loved the fact that yet again another king has been awoken and that they have also going to join the fight against snow which is still continuing to grow in its ferocity. Taylor has been my very best friend in the three years that we have been held prisoner in the salt mines and when we decide that we are going to escape together.
Will the trust that I had in the only person considered her best friend after discovering that in fact Taylor was in fact Fae and not what he appeared to be, then there is the fact that he could not recall who he actually was because a spell had been cast on him and it is only now, he remembers.
This is in all truth a very difficult situation because there also is the fact that their feelings for each other have become far more romantically minded and they have been with each other through which and thin and in truth you will see the feelings are real if they can only get over the initial bad feelings caused by a surmised lie which in fact was not the case.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

A fantastic addition to this series! The fight against Snow continues as another King is awakened! Damon and his best friend Kyrie have been through a lot but it looks like they might have gotten a leg up in this war. This book kept me engaged from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down! I loved the characters and the storyline is wonderful! I can’t wait for the next book! Such an enjoyable read that I very highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Of course this gets a 5!

A third king is found! Damon escapes the salt mine with his love, Kyrie. He reunites with childhood friend and fellow king, Xander, and his wife Thesher. They try to hide Kyrie in the Ice Court, but things do not go well. While Damon rescues her from Snow, they find a flaw in the Ice Queen’s magic. Will this be the key to defeating her?

Can’t wait for the next book. Four more lost kings to find. Orion and Maya have big parts to play, especially with Maya’s bond with her Polaris dragon. This series is epic!

It is a good book! I liked the storyline. I was frustrated in the beginning with the FMC Kyrie. I know your worlds if lipped upside down but you gotta go with the flow of things . If you don't you are literally going to die! I loved Damon but the only thing i didn't like was that he was going to give up his happiness for the better of everyone! Nobody loves a martyr! All in all, it is a book I recommend. The smut was also not very bad, I think there are 3 scenes and they aren't very long.

I couldnt wait to read this. I love this series!! This book is about Damon, the ice fae king. His best friend Kyrie knows him as Taylor. Damon was under a spell and thought he was a human for years. He was abused by the fae just like Kyrie and all the humans. Will Kyrie be able to get over her best friend being a fae? This book is full of danger, friendship and love. I loved Damon and Kyries story. Can't wait for the next book!!

Amazing Character Writing

A Shard of Ice is book 3 of Charlene Hartnady's The Lost Kings series. The character writing is amazing. Kyrie's character will have you feeling the full gambit of emotions. You'll like her to start with then you'll hate her judgmental ass then you'll love her. From beginning to end you'll love Taylor/Damon. Waiting for the next book to be released is going to be terrible.

I am so excited to continue this series and this one was fabulous, we get to learn more about Queen Snow and what happened to start this all off and Kyrie might be my favourite heroine from the series. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with her considering the shocking end of this one.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This is an EPIC series! Each book is better than the last one! It doesn't seem like that would be possible but somehow Charlene brings the FIRE every time! human and ice

Love this story line. It gets exciting from the start and the fae king is just so nice. Love the heroine and the other fae king who triggered to find the ice king. Plot twist at the end I did not see coming but definitely has me looking forward to the next fae king to awaken. Enjoy.

This dystopian fantasy is excellent. Hartnady has a knack for creating difficult situations to get out of and then finding ways to do just that. I read all three books and enjoyed the story premise very much. There are no swear words, and she doesn't go into minute detail for intimate scenes. I like it.

This is a truly wonderful series and another king awakes to join the fight against Snow.
I enjoy that the threads from each book interweave so you don’t lose contact with the previous couples & although each book is a story in itself the overall storyline continues.

Riveting

The Story build's then builds more - no way to guess accurately where it's leading.
Then, Wham! Where's the next book? Enjoy
