Fallin' for a Heavy

Rate this book
Heavy; most prominent in rank, importance, and position.

What happens when your best friend requests something unusual of you while lying on her deathbed? If you want to ease her heavy heart, the only thing you can do is agree. Life for thirty-two-year-old Rusha Wells went from carefree to full of the responsibility of caring for her three goddaughters when she lost her best friend. To keep up as a hair and makeup stylist for strippers, she's tasked with finding a balance between her work and becoming a mommy seemingly overnight. Fortunately, she has the help of her best friend’s husband in the process.

Heavy was the correct adjective to describe Bravo “Vo” Temples. He traded in his ex-sergeant in arms street title for important titles like husband, father, and firefighter. Never in a million years did the thirty-four-year-old think he’d have to raise his girls by himself, but after the passing of his wife, those were the cards he'd been dealt. The clutches of grief had a hold on Bravo until Rusha walked in and saved him.

She’s his saving grace, but grace has nothing to do with the feelings that begin to bloom between the two. The feelings seem so wrong, but Rusha can't deny how safe she feels in his arms. Will Rusha and Bravo honor what’s been asked of them, or is there an opposition hidden in plain sight, prepared to cause static in what could be a happily ever after?

What a different type of read from you Wynta, but I'm wit it! Miss Rusha was the ultimate friend supporting her bestie's Janelle's family while she was ill. When Janelle proposes the unthinkable, what will she do? Rusha knew Bravo was a handsome man, but never thought of him that way. She would co-parent like she agreed, and that would be that. Well, life always has other plans!

Bravo lost himself, when Janelle left them. Thank God he had Rusha there to hold down the fort for his girls and keep him on the straight and narrow. As he began to heal, and his grief lessened, he realized what a great woman Rusha is, and understood why Janelle made the request she did.

I loved watching these two co-parent these girls, while trying to navigate their growing feeling for each other. They battled with it for a long while, as they didn't want to tarnish Janelle's memory, but after so long it was impossible to fight it anymore. Rusha was intentional about making sure that the life and love they were building was theirs, and not a continuation of what Bravo was accustomed to. She wanted everything to be fresh and new for him, a new beginning for the both of them. Bravo also enjoyed that Rusha was more adventurous and freer with her life choices, that matched his. They were adorable together, and could get gritty, when necessary, too. 👀 Really enjoyed this one. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

4.5 ⭐️Omg!!

This book sent me on a rollercoaster. This was a good book! What I wish there was was more mess. Maybe a little crush between them before he was married or something that would spark their love. I believe Rush and Bravo are soulmates, I believe he shouldn’t have been with his wife but his it’s whatever. This story was cute and developed nicely. This romance had me up in the middle of the night cause I was invested!

Safe In Your Arms 2

Rusha & Bravo! Let me say, I CRIED!!!! I cried so much I put the book down to grieve. Janelle seemed like a pure soul who was placed to help two people grow as individuals before they grew together as one. Rush was already a second mother to the girls & discovering she couldn’t have children made that bond so much stronger. She was the glue. Bravo grieved his wife in more ways than one but to find the healthy balance was the key. Journey’s journey was so relatable I cried again! Poor baby. I love Destiny’s nonchalant attitude cause she is me some days lol! Angel is truly an angel! The Beasleys would’ve met the same fate in my world as well as book world! You definitely took me on a rollercoaster! I loved every part of it!

Great read🔥🔥

There are times when individuals faced with an illness and know that their time is limited will try their best to ensure that their legacy, family and other affairs are in order; that's exactly what Janelle did she watched the inner actions of her husband and best friend and knew that once she was gone they would need each other as well as being their for her children. Janelle was his first love whom somewhat reminded him of his mother by catering to him not allowing him to learn and do certain things, even though he truly loved her with all of his heart Bravo later discovered that he wasn't his true self with Janelle no matter how much he loved her, after she left and five years later Rush decided to give into her feelings allowing Bravo to love her like a real man should love her , at first it was hard for them but they had already gotten the most important blessing from Janelle so anyone else opinion didn't matter.
I enjoyed the way they loved on each other and even though Bravo realized that he had fallen in love with Rush he never pushed her he allowed her to take her time and finally realized what Janelle must have known all along.
Poor Journey, for that man to take advantage and threaten to take another mother away was devastating just because he hated Bravo and wanted a taste of Rush but she kept curving him and his advances, to say his family knew was just as sick and twisted as he was and they all deserved everything they got.

Love After the Pain

The ONLY thing I disliked about this book is that it had to end!!!…
My heart was so full when Janelle asked her best friend to help her husband raise their children because she knew her time was coming to an end!!!…Her one last selfless act to make sure the family she was building was well taken care of!!!…
That was a deep love for the woman you grew up with since the days of the week panties was a thing!!!…The fear of not knowing who would be raising your children when you are no longer around and how they are treating them will definitely stress you out!!!…To know you are leaving your children and your husband in safe hands eased that fear for Janelle!!!…
This story unfolded like none I’ve read before and kept me wanting to know more and see what else would happen!!!…
The investment that Bravo and Rusha placed In each other was beautiful and the children didn’t feel bitter or slighted!!!…
To hear Bruno express the feelings he struggled with and how he grieved and allowed himself to heal and be open to love another woman, but not just any woman, but their bestie!!!…

This book was fire...... What do you do when your best friend as you to take care of her children and Husband too 😮 I can only imagine but it did happen, Bravo loved his wife cause they were high school lover's and married and had a family but never in their wildest dreams that they thought she would die but she asked her best friend to step in and take care of her family. Rusha could not believe she would ask her to do that she never looked at Bravo like that but she stepped in taking care of everyone and keeping her own place too, but what happens when feeling starts to happen. This book was fire and I loved how everything worked out but that Beasley family got everything they deserved.

Great Book!!!

When I read the synopsis for this book before it was released, I didn't know how it was going to play out but Ms. Wynta Tyme did her thing with this book. The whole situation with Janelle was so sad that I had to cry during several parts involving her. I totally understood why Janelle made her request to Bravo and Rusha since she knew that her family would be in good hands with Rusha. I loved how they ended up healing each other from losing a very important person in their lives and falling in love. The way the whole family showed love for each other was so heartwarming. Bravo didn't play about his family and he handled the business that he needed to and I wasn't mad that he did. Great book with a different plot that I enjoyed from beginning to end.

Had potential

Janelle clearly saw something that Bravo and Rusha didn’t see at first and tried to fight, which made for a good storyline. This book had so much potential, but fell short for me. For instance, you didn’t hear much about Rusha’s family especially her siblings. Dalia’s character seemed to come out of nowhere and added no value to the story at all. The plot twist with Darren and his entire family escalated so quickly it seemed to come from left field as well and Rusha storming in to save the day just didn’t connect for me.

Loved It

I would recommend this book! I enjoyed this story so much, grief is so hard, but when you're living with someone whom is ready to let go, you have to respect their wishes. This story had so many nuggets to take from this book. You have to put yourself first sometimes and not think about what someone is going to say about you. A family that sticks together will always be stronger together Relationships are hard, but there has to be love, respect and loyalty! People can be low down and dirty, regardless if their portray to be holier than thou.

OMG

When I tell you this book was all that I mean it was all that. I thought I would want the story to continue at the end but all that was done and said was enough for me. Yes, there were a few situations that were so unbelievable that I just laughed but it didn't take away from the storyline. The love story for Bravo and Rusha was fire once it got going and the family dynamic was beautiful. I would like to get to know more about the other couples.

great read

Bravo and Rusha was a treat, from grief to love. Janell saw something in her bf to know that she would be a wonderful mother for her girls and partner for her husband. Bravo was a man man, like how he didn’t give up on his RuRu. Love the bond the family has hope to hear from other couples

Love Is Better With Your Soulmate

That Bravo was the man…..loving, kind, protective, and now available. Losing his wife was difficult for him and his girls but her best friend Rusha also. Janelle had one dying wish but Bravo and Rusha but they paid that no mind. Years later…things changed. An excellent read that I couldn’t put down!

it took longer than expected for me to read the short book. It was like the whole book revolves around the point that Rusha was starting to love Bravo, who was her best friend who passed away husband. A lot of unnecessary stuff in the book especially the last part that talked about the assault ghat Journey went through, it was random and seemed to just make the book drag out.

What a Love

This was such a excellent and moving story.
As women we sometimes forget we want to fill safe and loved.
Grieve can tear are souls apart, but love can mend us.
Bravo and Rusha found that loved that they needed.

DNF @ 65%

This book had a lot of potential, I was super excited for the overall storyline, but I felt like I wasn't getting enough background on certain things/ characters. Kinda like it was being rushed a little.
