This profusely illustrated book of practical tutorials and interactive exercises is an essential instruction guide and textbook for aspiring movie and television storyboard artists. It will also serve as a valuable reference source and general orientation for everybody involved in the production process, including directors, producers, actors, and scriptwriters. Students will learn
A classmate in film school gave me this for Christmas in 2013, but I only read this one a few months when I was tasked to do the storyboards for our film project. There are about 80% useful tidbits on introducing the self to this niche in the industry, even if one is starting out as a student. I had this previous notion that this one should be left to the Fine Arts majors but as long as you have the talent to draw, improving on it will prove beneficial down the road.
The author could be less repetitive and learn about subtle reiteration about this statements in some chapters, because it becomes a bit tiring having to go through the choices of colors, framing, etc. Overall, the book is a good one to have in your personal library.
Although this book is repetitive in places, and some of the advice (like on building a web site) is rubbish, there's enough nice industry knowledge in this book to make it a valuable purchase. Wish I'd had this three years ago, when I was looking to do more with my cartoonist abilities.
