Detective Ivy Bishop, fresh from cracking a high-profile case, is haunted by a night she can't remember, with her family gone and her past a blur.
Oakhurst is barely back on its feet after dealing with a serial killer when a new crisis two children and their caretaker have disappeared without a trace or ransom note. Despite her superiors' warnings, Ivy is drawn to the case, convinced it's linked to the night from fifteen years ago that left her wandering the streets, her clothes stained with blood.
Her investigation into the kidnappings uncovers a complex web of lies, deceit, and greed, all pointing ominously back to her. And as she gets closer to understanding the kidnapper's motives, Ivy is faced with a shocking truth that could upend everything she believes about her past.
Caught in a deadly dilemma, Ivy must choose between saving the innocent and confronting a truth that might destroy her.
"The Girl Without A Clue," the second book in the Ivy Bishop Mystery series by Alex Sigmore, is a gripping thriller that explores the shadows of the past and the complexities of uncovering the truth. In a town where secrets run deep, Ivy Bishop's quest for answers will challenge everything she knows about herself and the place she calls home.
Ever watched a series and have an episode end on a huge cliffhanger AND have to wait months before "they" pick up and continue on?? Image my lack of happiness finding out the next book won't be out until November. Well written and left me in anticipation of the next book. Does Ivy find out about her parents and brother? Does her boss finally come clean about her family? I want to find out NOW!!
You never know what you'll get when one of your favorite authors decides to start a new series. Sometimes it's disappointing, other times it's brilliant. This new series is brilliant!! I love watching each character evolve. Alex Sigmore is an amazing author and I didn't have any reservations about the new Ivy Bishop series. Looking forward to Book 3.
When Mrs. Baker, Ivy’s former group home caretaker goes missing, along with the two girls under her care, Ivy can’t understand why her superiors are trying to keep her away from this case. But as she can’t help but dig into it on her own, Ivy starts unraveling more secrets and lies than she bargained for.
This second installment in the Ivy Bishop series reveals more about her mysterious past and the people who may or may not be involved in the disappearance of her family. I especially like the duplicitous roles of local reporter Alice Blair and Lieutenant Nat Buckley—are they friends or frenemies?
This series is available for free with #KindleUnlimited and was just released today!
Thank you, @AlexSigmore for my gifted copy. I can’t wait for Book 3!
This series has me scratching my head and at times wanting to tell Ivy to get it together. I’m so intrigued to know her past. And leaving us hanging , now I can’t wait for next book.
Detective Ivy Bishop is back and is even more outrageous than the first time. Alex Sigmore’s Girl Without a Clue, goes so rapidly, you'll feel like you're in Ivy Bishop’s Corvette doing 100 mph down a curvy, mountain highway in Oregon.
After bringing in Kieran Woodward, who turned serial killer; a young man Ivy knew from her foster home with Mrs. Baker, Ivy was sent home for “rest days”.
Ivy thought her partner, Jonathan White had been given the case when Mrs. Baker and her two foster children go missing. Detective White thinks Ivy is working the case and is patiently working every do nothing case on his desk.
When Ivy finds out that the team working on the case has no leads, all heck breaks loose. Before the end of the book, Ivy has been beaten, arrested, escaped, plotted with her partner, pissed off her boss, been fired, been un-fired, are you still with me?
In other words, Girl Without a Clue is one big rodeo without cowboy boots. It has all of the heart-pumping, action and adventure and wildly reversing directions you crave in a thriller. And, the answer to who done it, remains to be seen in the next book in the series.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review
This author is off onto another fantastic series. Sigmore plays a mean Three Card Monty, and his sleight of hand is impressive. As the reader, you have to keep your eyes open, or the author is going to catch you not paying attention.
The characters, as per the usual, are well presented, and the reader never knows who to really trust. And if you let your guard down or believe everything you read, you are going to be disappointed, but in a very good way.
I did not know what I thought of Ivy Bishop and her respective crew after the first installment, but like the people around Emily Slate in the other series, they are all part of what makes these books work and I'm intrigued to keep going.
Sigmore plays by the rules, gets the job done brilliantly, and makes it incredibly difficult for the reader to put one of his books down.
Picking up right where book 1 left off, Detective Ivy Bishop is racing to find her missing foster mother and two young girls while being thwarted at every turn by those she thought she could trust.
Ivy is a frustrating woman (in a good way). She makes choices that we, as readers, know aren’t the best or brightest, but they’re made from the heart. She has a single-minded determination that, while sometimes foolhardy, is admirable. Watching her start to face her phobia and press her limits was really rewarding.
Her relationships with the secondary characters continue to bloom. Johnathan & Oliver were still delightful, but the surprise of Ivy’s interactions with local reporter, Alice, was unexpected and promises more shenanigans in the future.
The over-arching mystery of Ivy’s past continues to draw me into its depths… and into book 3 apparently.
Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. For Detective Ivy Bishop, the harrowing revelations provided by the murderer Kieran Woodward regarding Ivy's time in the foster home of Jillian Baker left her caught up whirlwind of emotions that maybe, finally provide an opportunity to learn the truth of why her family vanished.
Only Ivy's bizarre past is about to become a destructive tsunami... and seriously complicates everything.
The sudden disappearance of Mrs. Baker and the two girls within her care has left Ivy chomping at the bit to take up the case and begin the search for the woman she knows has the answers Ivy has become so desperate for. Forced to stay away from such an essential case in her personal life, Ivy won't let her anger towards her boss Nat Buckley to stop her from finding Jillian Baker and the missing girls... whom Ivy fears won't be found alive if she's not allowed to join the hunt for their kidnapper. But what Ivy finds herself doing to break open the mysterious abduction means blurring the fragile lines of being on the right side of the law and going completely silent and rogue... along with dragging those she turns to trust in this fight to putting their own lives on the line- with no way of turning back once starting down this dangerous and darkest of roads.
A fiery, emotional and poignant sequel you don't want to miss.
To be brutally honest I read the first 2 books in this series and find the story preposterous. A person with her phobia of being touched or touching people could never have made it through the Police Academy. Then become a patrol officer and then a Detective! but has panic attacks if anyone touches her. As a rookie detective she listens to no one; disobeys all orders and does what ever she wants regardless of the consequences. The story line just too far fetched. Just too unrealistic.
I enjoyed this book as I did the first book. Love the partnership developing between Ivy and Jonathan. Great characters. And I enjoyed reading how Ivy is working through her “issues”. Good storyline, although some of the situations Ivy puts herself in are a bit far fetched. I’m anxious for the release of book three to see if Ivy finds the answers of her past life…and to see if anything becomes of her and Jonathan!
Ivy’s backstory becomes even more murky and dangerous
The foster mother, who first had custody of Ivy after the rest of her family disappeared, is kidnapped, along with her two charges.
Excluded from the kidnapping investigation, Ivy goes rogue, stirring up the expected dust storm, as she comes to realize her mysterious past is dangerously overtaking her present.
I’m a true and loyal fan of Emily Slate, yeah, I know Alex Sigmore wrote her too. I wasn’t sure after reading Ivy Bishop’s 1st book, even though I liked it. Now I can truthfully say, I REALLY like Ivy. She has guts and believes in herself. A wonderful reading experience.
Another cliffhanger, albeit an expected one. I have a mountain of work to do, but I couldn't think of anything else but this book, hoping I've would get the answers she's looking for. So prepare yourself for a page turner and plan to shut out the world while you're at it.
I understood some of underlying reasoning of this story but for some reason with everyone under mining an officer to the point they did was a little baffling. Hopefully book 3 will answer some of those unknown factors. This series needs redemption.
This was exciting and fact paced with good characters and helpful friend and for workers. I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out about the disappearing family.
Loved it, I'm really glad I found this author. This one just wants you to keep going to find out what happens. Love Ivy Bishop and her partner. On to number 3.
