Sluggish at times, hectic at others
Peaks and troughs of pace, with moments when you wonder how anyone could operate the way they do and have survived this long
It keeps you turning the pages, but it's not a great book. The main character has more flaws than a sky scraper, yet the bosses put up with him. His psychology profile alone should side line him and on this mission nearly gets a comrade killed and the mission blown
If you can get past all this, then the story hinges around Adam doing the right thing, whilst everyone else around him is just looking out for themselves
It works, it makes you want to know what's happening next, but it's not riveting
Hopefully book 2 brings more to the table. I hope so

This book really disappointed me. I follow this author and usually love his stuff.
This book however, was borderline silly with little in the way of character development and any level of believability.
I really didn’t find my self caring about any of it.
I believe the goal was for us to see Adam as a tortured soul but we were never really let into his history enough. His failure to follow the orders in the mission were childish and nothing like what you would expect a true operative would do.
The dialog between the characters seemed trivial and childish also.

Absolutely great!
First book I have read by either of these authors. Loved everything about this book. It was really about following your own moral compass and doing what feels right to you, instead of following orders blindly. Story was well told, and the characters, especially the protagonist, were well portrayed. It was easy to understand the characters and sympathize with them, especially the protagonist There was also plenty of action, and the book was very fast-paced, which I like. Will definitely read more by these authors.

Africa - deep, dark, and dangerous...
Men in the highest echelons of power - are they involved in the child trafficking and child armies being assembled from kidnapped children in Africa? Is the intelligence reaching the ears of both US and UK operatives credit me or corrupt? How far will Adam Burke push to uncover the truth with loss of his child fresh in his mind and heart? The book does not end on a cliff hanger but the questions are still out there....Very good read...

The Moving Target is straight on
This was and action packed book. One man versus the good, the bad, the establishment, and himself. Burke lays the plot and takes you on trip to save the little ones, get the bad guy, and lets you wonder about God and what may come next. Those who like the special forces genre will want to read the complete series after reading book one. I did! You should too!

a great beginning
This was a really gripping story. I read straight through. It’s filled to the brim with action packed twists and turns that keep you flipping. All is not as it seems as this story plays out with a great new hero in Burke. Can’t wait for next installment. These writers def make a great team!

I’m sorry…easy trading book but much like any other special forces guy…tough….uncaring…caring…good guys V the bad guys.

Look before you leap!
Very good story that you don’t want to put book down until the end of the action! Burke learned his lesson on this the hard way! From now on he needs to be sure of it all before he acts!

I'm going to give the second book a chance. I like the story, but so far, it seems that the author needs more experience writing and developing more believable and realistic characters and situations.

This is book one in the Adam Burke series. Bradley Wright and JD Dudycha together are great writers. This book has a huge plot turn about midway through. It is a very gripping story where the good guys come out on top and save 56 children who all had a very bleak future planned out for them.

This catches your interest on page one and goes from there. You won’t be able to put it down. You’ve got to know more. Is he really a good guy when’ll this time you thought he was bad? Or is he really bad. Great read and I can’t wait to read the next one.

This book is not worth finishing. It drags along and after a while you don’t care about the characters. The action scenes are not believable. I’ve rated this author highly on several previous novels, not this one. The coauthor approach doesn’t work.

Nice first book in a new series
Good plot, decent pace, character development and tad lacking, and, like the most recent Alexander King book… the dialogue seemed a tad contrived and cheesy in parts. Regardless, already bought the second book.

Explosive
Great action and explosive till the end. Fantastic story with many characters. Couldn't stop reading till the very last page and looking forward to more in this series.

What a thought provoking novel. Burke is understanding and has a good heart....no matter what the situation is for him or the team helping.
