So this book had a different feel to it than most RH books I have read. It came off more like 2 separate relationships within the group, with the group bring secondary 🤷. Anyways … I liked it and it was a different spin. Perhaps it will evolve in the next two books.

The vigilante spin was also something unique. Can’t wait to see what happens in book 2.

I don’t think I can ever look at a toothbrush the same. I also couldn’t tell the characters apart. They were all basically the same. Also they were in the most toxic relationship ever all of them. None of this was healthy in any way. In fact they became even worse people together. Yes yes yes, this is a shitty KU book that read like a Wattpad story so I should know what I’m getting into, I just expected more. That’s my fault on this one.

I did like the unintentional demisexual rep? I don’t know if the author knew she did that. I do not however appreciate all the s/a and more that was going on that was NOT mentioned in the trigger warnings on why choose website.

Not really a reverse harem — more of a MMFM, and I’m slowly learning the difference. This involved more MM scenes than I would’ve cared for had I known that.

It was hard keeping the characters apart. Especially with Caspian being called King, also.

The whole Jackals thing was pretty cool, but just the idea that they all good off on it was a little weird and too much for me. It piqued my curiosity enough to finish, though.

Skylar’s dad knowing everything was a little weird to me.

I admit I like my romance dark, I like why choose and reverse harem, but this was . . . something else.

Not a reverse harem

I hate when authors lie. This is not a reverse harem unless you like for some basically don’t read this. It’s definitely MMFM, which is not my bag. I wouldn’t have bothered had I done that and the author should be honest.1 star for lack of integrity and clout chasing.

Be prepared to be wrecked!!

This is book one in the Twisted Torment series and ends on a heart wrenching cliffhanger. Thank goodness book two is already available for me to devour next. Skylar thought going home and shutting down part of herself was the answer to stopping the darkness inside her. The she met three guys, Sebastian, Caleb, and Caspian; they are trying to show her that there is a way for that darkness to exist inside her and do some good. Too bad it may wreck them all when she unleashes it!!

Should’ve DNF’d

This is a book that tried too hard. I was already exasperated at 11% and contemplated DNFing. The only reason I didn’t is because I looked at the second book thinking there was going to be a huge betrayal at the end of this, and maybe some good groveling in the second? No, that’s not what happened and even if it did, I wouldn’t have bought the second.
This book tried too hard to be hard. Sort of mafia-ish? Everyone has a red haze of anger and they’re psychos and proud about it 🙄 the girl is so cool/tough/strong because she’s different for having blue hair and talks back. She loves fist fights and whatnot it’s just one poorly done stereotype after another.
The guys love her for no reason. There’s no build-up or substance to the relationship. I think they’re going at it within the first few chapters, and the writing is less than nothing to write home about. It could’ve maybe been salvageable if it was fleshed out/edited more.
And higher power help me the dirty talk was asinine, I read the c word so many times that I felt it was ingrained in my eyes and it took away from every scene it was trying to emphasize.

So I really thought I'd enjoy this series as much as I did walking with monsters. But I felt like the characters weren't really a rh it was more of a swinging situation where 2 couples sometimes liked to switch it up. Idk it's hard to explain but the relationships seemed more one on one with a few switches with the fmc. I mean it was an OK series just not what I was expecting. By the end only relationships that had any part where they had a exclusivity talk was Caleb with Cas and then in the beginning Seb and Sky. Cas never even really showed intrest in sky imo she was just an after thought for him. Idk I just didn't really care for the relationships. The first 2 books was 3s the last one a 2. So I'd rate the whole series as a 2.5 rounded down to a 2.

****SPOILER ALERT BELOW****

Also fair warning I feel like we should of been told before that there's a kinda cheat situation in the third book that absolutely pissed me off Cas hooked up with ash and I felt like wtf he can just completely forsake his girl but can f*** someone he hates? Like cas was a shit character in the last book. It's what really ruined this series for me. Another thing I've noticed is this author doesn't allow the mmc with rough tendencies to ever unleash fully on the females bc "they can't handle it" it erks me so bad cuz they then use it as a buffer as to why they have a mm relationship because they can only unleash on men. It's giving misogynistic vibes.

🎶 I used to think that I was better alone (better alone). Why did I ever wanna let you go? (Let you go) 🎶

Luxington University was supposed to be her fresh start—a chance to escape the shadows of her past. But from the moment she steps onto campus, she makes a fatal mistake: catching the attention of three powerful, merciless men. Caspian King (H), the cold and calculating ruler of the city’s underground. Sebastian Thorn (H), the charming playboy whose spotlight hides fractured secrets. Caleb Rowland (H), the quiet manipulator with a taste for chaos—and pain.

“You don’t like to display anything that’s not an unaffected persona, completely unaffected by anything or anyone, a machine, really. Hate to break it to you, but you’re actually a human being.”

“As if you’re one to talk with that shutdown, robot thing you’ve got going on.”

“Exactly. So I can recognize it in you. And the difference is, you don’t want to be that way. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that you hate it. You don’t want to be trapped or shoved in a metaphorical box with constraints… you’re a free spirit. And all this that you’re doing here is clipping your wings. One of the reasons you lost control last night is from all that repression.”

I’ll be honest, I have no idea what was happening for the majority of this book. What I do know is that Skylar got to town and Sebastian instantly became obsessed with her. They connected, and for the first time, he showed some semblance of falling in love, even though everyone around him called him robotic. Then he started using drugs again. Then her ex-boyfriend showed up, kidnapped him, and forced more drugs into him. The plot? I honestly couldn’t tell you. I don’t know what I just read. I’m so confused right now. Caleb and Cass weren’t interesting enough for me. Their dynamic bored me. It was really only Sebastian who carried the entire book, and unfortunately, that’s not enough for me to want to finish the series. It’s dragging, and I don’t care about what happens next. I just hope Sebastian gets better and stops using, because he was the only part of this story I actually cared about.

I kid you not, she hadn’t even met Cas before, and the very first time they meet he “takes care of her”—and by that I mean he literally has sex with her. That immediately turns into a group scene. This book definitely leaned on separate dynamics: Cas with her, Caleb with her, Sebastian with her. It felt divided until they were brought together, but even then, it didn’t hit the way it should have. There just wasn’t enough emotional connection between them. The only relationship that really carried any weight was hers with Sebastian. Everything else felt surface-level. The MM relationships had more connection than she did with any of the guys (Bastian ILY). Honestly, it would have worked better as a standalone MM story, because she felt like an aftermath rather than a missing piece. They could have survived without her. While she intrigued them, I don’t think Cas needed her. It was never make-or-break for him. His interest felt more about curiosity—wondering why his guys were drawn to her—and then wanting in on the fun. It wasn’t about her being essential to their bond.

─── .¸✿¸.•❤•.❀• OVERALL¸•❀.•❤•.¸✿¸.⋆ ───

Sebastian was the make-or-break of this book because he had the most personality. He seemed genuinely fascinated by her, and while it was instant interest, he had the biggest shift in character. He actually opened up to her instead of staying closed off, and that made him compelling. Even though he was clearly having episodes, he still tried to psychoanalyze his own actions, which sometimes pulled me out of the moment. That part bothered me, but at the same time, it showed just how layered he was compared to the others.

Seeing as this was a new to me author that I stumbled across through searching for my next read, I was surprised as to the world that this author embarked upon us.

There was so many elements to this story and more importantly these characters.

Caleb, Sebastian, Caspian were a remarkable force and were three guys who each have a layer to them that when you add our heroine to the mix, it competes this harem perfectly.

I loved the brotherhood, the connection between two of the guys in particular, the secrets, the pasts coming up to catch up on them, the love that’s blossoming within all the struggling, the obsession, the addictions and so much more.

Skylar definitely added an element of surprise with her background and how she was able to ground the boys.

This book had all the spice and it was up there in the head, let me mention electric brushes and I’ll leave you with that.

Definitely recommend this book and I’ll definitely be reading the rest within this trilogy.

Books one and two are out now, with the third releasing the 3rd June 2024!

Holy Moly!

This was unexpected. At first I was not sure if I was going to like this. But then I was just getting more and more curious about how this was all panning out. With the plot and the relationships.

I forget just how depraved and dirty some of these books can get. And then I pick up something like this and I’m like I haven’t even reached the tip of the iceberg 🧊. Because I was speechless 😶 and sweating 🥵 the spice was on another planet.

The emotions these characters were feeling were so chaotic and messy and overwhelming. But I think that was the point.

Feelings are complicated as heck. And trying to rein them in is hard. Dealing with feelings can be overwhelming. Mix that with being in a relationship(s) with all those emotions and it is hell of a ride.

Reading how all these characters try to feel and connect and be balanced is really genuine and it really had me enjoying this book the more I read.

A disappointing read - this is not a why choose it’s MMFM and there’s quite a difference so I wish it wasn’t marketed that way.

I read the follow on series to this first and god this is just recycled material and vice versa, same personality people in a different town with a slightly different issue. The sex scenes are pretty much the same, where’s the originality? It’s boring.

Why do authors have to make strong(ish) FMC’s only for them to NEED the MMC to save her, or fix her? It totally ruins the badass vibe. And again with the darkness?? Get these people in therapy, they sound like bloody DC villains - this is literally the same as her other series but with a small twist, SO SO BORING!!

Can we also not say there’s some M/M scenes, the majority is m/m which is not my preference, I don’t mind a little, but this is over the top, why bother having an FMC at all??

Reading the reviews, I hesitated to start this book. Yes, there was quite some action between the guys without the heroine involved, so it is not a classical RH. And yes, I kept confusing Cas an Cal, so the names could’ve been chosen a bit better. The book itself wasn‘t that bad though. If a badass heroine that has three guys absolutely obsessed with her is your thing, go for it (that is: if you don‘t mind them also being obsessed with each other).

I dnf‘ed because I like my heroines a little more vulnerable at times, and because I want a little more friction between the characters before they get together. This was pretty much love at first sight, which I usually don‘t like reading. So I guess this is just not my cuppa tea.

DNF at 53%

I was on board with the set up of the story, I like the Onyx character too. Not a fan of two of the three main guys with names so similar - Cas and Cal, also that only two of the three men in this dynamic have actually met the girl. He’s so in control that he’s never around… and it feels like a story about a MMF relationship and a MM one where only one M crosses over. There is a lot of overthinking of what when two characters meet and after half a book of that, I sadly lost interest.

I enjoyed the story but there were times where I had to question what I the plot was. I am still slightly confused on the direction it’s going once it ended on the cliffhanger. I’m going to start the second book but if it follows the same pattern I doubt I’ll be able to finish it. It had so much promise but just felt drawn out and wordy. Not to mention clear editing errors sprinkled throughout - a solid 2.75/5⭐️

Caspian and Caleb and Sebastian and Skylar

Three guys and One young female. This begins with Skylar, then the guys trying to get Sky involved with them.this is marvelous story if your comfortable with mostly mm situations. Just stating a fact in the pages, and also group sexist sexualized situations. Mostly describe the relationship between the men as a Brotherhood , family, and lovers then how Sky enters. I enjoyed the characters of each person.

Beyond dark

If you have any concerns about your ability to get through the dark, read the trigger warnings carefully, and maybe skip this one.
On the other hand, if you’re ever been a fan of psycho thrillers and can handle the triggers, this is excellently written and I care about most of the characters. I’m diving directly into the next book.

Holy Hell!
I have to say i am quite intrigued by this series. This was my first read from this author, and I am not disappointed.
I love a good RH book, love the sword crossing and Christ on a cracker were the spicy scenes hot. The storyline is quite good as well, and there are a bunch of twists and turns.
Can’t wait for the next book!

Good read

This first book stops on a cliffhanger but, so far, has a tremendous plot-to-spice ratio. And let me tell you, the spice is the chef's kiss. It's a little on the darker side, but it's still great.

Wreck Me

Wow! What a wild ride of a story. I could not put it down. I loved Skylar from the moment she arrived on her Harley. Bastian, Cal, & Cas, all beautifully damaged heros. Can not wait to read the next book in the series.

What a ride..

This book started at full throttle, and just kept its foot on the pedal!
It's way over the top, and very dark.
But I enjoyed it immensely.
Highly recommend!
