Shawn Doolish. Fallen shadow mage, mass-murder, slaver, master of soul torture, former Confederation bigwig, and recent Guild recruit.
Banshee. Tortured teenager, son of a Guild hero, on the run from the law after one last run-in with a bully.
What do they have in common other than a reason to hide? The Reagent Protocol; a Heroes' Guild program to rehabilitate supers who crossed the line and now seek redemption.
After all, the only difference between a monster and a man is the desire and willingness to change.
Shawn was a fun character to follow around. I liked the fact that half of the time I was wondering if Shawn was a good guy or not. I felt the characters were well developed. It's a fun read and I encourage you to try this one out!
Excellent book and I hope to see more from this author soon. The characters are depicted so vividly and the story crafted so well I felt like I was watching a movie. I especially liked Banshee, a short story at the end of the book.
This is a story about superheroes in a world that does not universally seem to like superheroes. The heroes either have powers we typically expect or can use magic to accomplish what they need to get done. I'm not a purist, mix em up and throw in a werewolf too, it all works for me.
If you're looking for some entertainment that pulls very few punches, this book is for you.
