The Lord of Silver Stars is rising and his allies are rising with him!
Sam's strength as an Astral Titan is greater than anything seen on Aster Fall since the First War shattered the world. He commands three armies and the fortress of Silverguard stands firm in the Void, but enemies surround him on every side.
The Avatar of Blood stands inside the World Seal, an enemy whose strength is equal to the Titans of old. He holds Asenya in his grasp, the caretaker of Aster Fall.
To overcome him, Sam will have to finish his rise to power as an Astral Titan and take up the mantle they once held.
It's time to invade the World Seal and deal with the enemy inside, but other remnants of the First War also return to wreak havoc.
I've said this in my reviews for this series before but I'll reiterate: this is hands-down one of the best LitRPG/Cultivation/Progression Fantasy offerings I've yet to come across followed closely by L.M. Kerr's Reborn: Apocalypse series.
In terms of sheer enjoyment, they merit a hundred stars.
In this penultimate installment, we see the Lord of Silver Stars and his fledgling army of Silver Nagas storm the World Seal to rescue Asenya and deal with the remnants of the first war. Another worthy addition.
This is the latest Aster Fall book. Many series lose the plot or get stale in time. So far author David North has avoided that pitfall.
From a very humble beginning Sam has developed into a being of nearly unimaginable power. But, instead of getting dull and boring, the story stays exciting and continues to build higher and higher. At times I was actually bouncing in my seat from the sheer joy and excitement I had while reading.
And best of all, there is more to come it seems, book 9 it says is coming in 2025! Hooray!!
This is an epic series combining the coming of age with the hero's journey. And in my opinion, each book in the series as well as the series overall knocks it out of the park.
So if you like epic fantasy, especially of the gamelit/litrpg variety I strongly recommend the Aster Fall series. It is great series!
An Epic conclusion to a massive progression fantasy!!
Six books in and how to create interesting events around massive power scaling is handled admirably. Difficult to believe the protagonist started a journey struggling to survive a single beast encounter, now a Titan Lord that strides across the Galaxy and contemplates the Great Dark. All while focusing on crafting and enchanting, elements of personal interaction are seamlessly woven throughout. Obviously a setup for an exciting Academy Adventure (for the little sis!), it's been a wild ride that sweeps through the original setting, righting wrongs and fixing issues while growing into true power and curiosity.
An except capstone and feels like the end of Part 1
These 8 books have been such a ride and if I didn’t have book 9 waiting for me I’d think this was the end of the series. I continue to love how North-sensei uses “every part of the story Buffalo” and never lets a tucked away item in a storage bag or a character banished elsewhere go unused.
So many LitRPGs turn into item hoarders but I am always pleasantly surprised when, as a reader, I get rewarded with a callback or a plot point being resolved. There are enough neat things like that in Book 8 to make for an interesting next few series but I feel good that all of Aster Fall has basically been resolved in a way that feels earned.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and would have been content if this was the end of the series since so many of Sam’s goals were finally accomplished here. But I’m excited to see that there is more yet for Sam to do, and another installment to come!
This story was a perfect pacing, for me, to Sam’s development. He both gained in rank and essence, but also in the depth and breadth of his mastery and control. During the course of this book, Sam accomplished his two main driving goals of much of the series thus far, and I’m interested to see how the series will pivot now that those tasks are complete.
This book was mostly focused on tying up many of the interesting events from the earlier books. Sam continued to grow in power and character - at this point there's not much he can't do or come up with a way to handle the issues. I still remember being annoyed by his angst in the first book - he's almost a gentleman compared to those early days of progression. And he has the most fearsome army to back him up. Looking forward to the new experiences to come in the next book.
I've loved this series since the first book. I look forward to the rest. I appreciate the character growth and also the personal interaction between Sam and his family and friends. Sometimes as a series grows beyond the first few books they can become repetitive but these have not. I love the author's imagination and the worlds and their inhabitants he creates.
The story is good and continuous to be good. But the book itself is a difficult and tiring read. The chapters are quite long as are most of the Sätze and are heaving loaded with information. Sadly the information is also repeated over and over again, which makes it quite boring at some points. There where multiple instances were I could barely keep awake, even through the story was interesting. This sadly repeats for the last few books. It got better towards the end of this book
FINALLY! Someone remembered that good should win over evil again! Friends were saved, and all were rewarded. Problems were solved, threats vanquished, and egos were given necessary adjustments. I hope this is a start a trend with the good beating the bad once again. Let's hear it for the good guys!
Such a beautiful story and characters... One of my fav series.. David is a talented fellow and also very nice as a person... Characters etch and textured.. World building impressive.. Along the lines of he who fights with a crafting bent.. Highly recommend JD Glasscock Author of the Series Blood Brothers and Nocturne
At the end of the book, I wasn't sure if the author finished the series or not. It feels like it ended, but it also feels like a TV series that ended but was left just enough information to continue if some other station wanted to pick it up.
Two gripes. Firstly, Same as the last time, too much use of the word ‘Silver’. Thought I was going a little mad at times. Secondly I feel the character progression has been lost for every one but Sam for a few books now. This is a shame as there was a great deal of scope in many.
The characters and their dialog are what keep me coming back to these. Mr. North has an amazing ability to not only describe the situations that the characters face but their emotional impact as well. The writing is good, in a way that makes it easy to infer what is going on.
This series is unique and enjoyable, full of interesting world building, unique races, classes and challenges. This book has a good ending, enough so that the series could end here, but I'm hoping it won't. Sam's adventures are quite interesting, even and especially when he's just popping by to help out, rather than battling a big bad guy. Looking forward to more :)
This was arguably my favorite book of the entire series. I enjoy seeing the fruits of labor, and there were many parts to this that were satisfying to read for many reasons. The author did a great job explaining each aspect of the previous books, tying things together and giving rise to potential new questions.
I personally like all the details and environment setting. But it did drag at little with all the explanations of different aspects of powers or skills. It was still great and I loved all the plot twists and the follow up to the different characters. Very well done and complete storytelling.
This book had it all; adventure, battles, crafting, a love interest, and entertainment that draws in the imagination. I love everything about this series and can’t wait for the next one.
I have forgotten how much I enjoyed these books. I wish they would come out out more frequently but I understand they take time to write and get ready for everyone. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Not one of my favourites. Good book but it kind of lacks in the excitement category? I won’t spoil it to others who haven’t read it but to find out there’s another book in the series?? I’ve read all 8 so I’ll have to keep going I guess
I just binge read this series in a week. Very enjoyable. Great character development and an awesome framework for magic, levels and overall strength for the characters. Great heroes and powerful antagonists. Highly recommended.
Pretty good addition to the series. Thankfully it wasn't as heavily focused on mechanics and remembered it had a story to tell. Been a good story so far.
So… the maker of the seal gets rescued, the world eater gets defeated, and the MC gets more powerful. A great installment, not a standalone. Wonderful narrator. Please enjoy
