Ripped from my mates. Taken by an evil who has it out for us all. And it’s all I can do to hold on, just hoping that they will find me before it’s too late. Because I’m in the clutches of someone who only wants one thing…power. Power that only I can give them. And I’m a second away from breaking.
But my captor is revealing secrets. Ones that have the potential to bring my world crumbling down. And not just mine but the entire dragon species’, too. Now, we’re racing against the clock to keep those secrets buried and me safe. But our enemies are circling. And sometimes the deadliest are the ones you least expect…
I debated writing this review directly after reading but here we are. Spoilers ahead. .
I hate writing reviews when I was so let down. This author worked hard and writing is not easy and I actually like her work, so keep that in mind if you read the rest of this.
I was extremely let down by this book and it may be better to do list format to consolidate the issues.
1) We rush through two mates bonding with little to no groveling from Maddox who was awful up until 70 percent of the book. We don't see a relationship build up with him and he never really says more than that he wants to have sex with her really bad. I was let down by his character.
2) I love smut as much as the next person, obviously I read only romance, but I will say it once and I'll say it again smut is not a replacement for lack of plot. I think this also took away from the characters. They only had scenes when they were in danger or having sex. We miss out on any of their relationship building that were obvious in the first books.
3) These books started so strong and then fell flat. We have two kidnappings in this book and the entire princess plot went absolutely nowhere. Everyone that found out in the last chapter just conveniently died. The bad guys were easy to take out because a magical police force was involved out of nowhere....and her bullies went to prison for a murder they didn't commit. And all of that action, plot movement and resolution all happened within 2 chapters of each other
If I'm being honest it felt like the author was done with this story which is fine, but make it a duet. Don't give three books if you are going to drag it along to end it on a too neat package. I think this even goes for the epilogue. I'm happy they had kids, that's awesome always love a happy ending but it felt like she added it just so no one complained about not knowing what happened and we get no extra anything really from it.
Overall I wish that the series would have ended differently and that the characters kept up the development we were seeing in the first two books. I know she is setting up a possible trilogy for Wren because the one person we talked the most about was her in this book. Who is she? Why is she running? How is she hiding her scent? Oh Brix had to mention her too.! I know she is setting up the next book but put effort into this one before asking us to fall into another series.
Tessa Hale delivers yet again with the spice, suspense, and addicting plot and romance. Book two ended on another cliffhanger (Tessa Hale's usual MO) and this one picks right up with the suspense and how Hayden is going to get out of the situation she found herself in at the end of the book. I really loved how each relationship developed in this one and how the plot was also full-force ahead in uncovering the secrets we've been teased with for the whole book. And the spice was spiccinnggggg in this one.
We had two mates who were pretty hesitant this whole series and we finally see them get on their knees for the heroine, which I always love. And Tessa teased the next series SO WELL!!! I know this just finished, but I need the first book in that series now!
Tessa is one of my favorite why choose authors and I couldn't recommend everything she writes enough!!
everything felt way too rushed - princess plot went nowhere - new bonds being formed out of nowhere - more smut than plot (although I enjoyed the smut) - undercover supernatural police force was introduced but nothing happened from that - the villains of the entire series were killed off within two pages - epilogue was 12 years later and we learn she had kids but nothing about what happened between the corbetts being killed and the start of the epilogue
I knew what to expect from this based on the first two books. I read these since they were entertaining, simple and short.. but I expected more

this girl is so accident prone 😵💫 every 5 minutes she’s injured, kidnapped or attempted assassination. these books were fun if you don’t take them too seriously, i didn’t read them for the serious plot line
✨ Series Review ✨ After finishing the trilogy I am rating the series 3.5 stars. There was so much potential for this series but by the end something felt missing. It felt incomplete and I was left wanting more world building. I also felt like the ending was super rushed and left a lot of thing open.
Don’t get me started on how some of the “tension” or conflict was resolved. It did not feel believable and was pretty frustrating to be honest.
That said, I still enjoyed the series overall. Plus the audiobook narration was truly amazing.
I get it we all love it when the MMC dotes and goes all crazy and possessive towards the FMC when she got hurt. But having to read the same thing over and over again gets old. Every 2 chapters something happens to get her hurt or near death and then they go feral she is whining and crying and then repeat and repeat and repeat. From book 1 to the last one and that is too much!!
The spice is not as good as I would have hoped with 5 males!!!!! It is more tame than the author intended it to be as it was hinted to be kinky in multiple occasions but it’s just…. Not
The whole romance? Not good but not bad either The best story is between Knox and her as they actually get to develop and grow.
The rest was more like tossed into it and “forced” to love her as she turned out to be their mate.
The romance with the professor? Not there With Cillian? They only see each other every few chapters so no real development! Easton? Could use more groveling instead of only doing the puppy eyes and she forgives him for literally humiliating and hurting her every few seconds Cael? The romance is there but would have been good to see them actually get to know each other
The storyline itself was unnecessary and boring/ to be expected.
The ending? All this talk about those mates being strong and capable to protect her and also having a sanctuary for everyone who needs it (which we only heard about once or twice but never got to actually see?) only for someone else to rescue her and defeat the villains twice.

3.5 stars for me. I loved the first two books of this series (rated them 5 stars!!) but this one I have a lot of mixed thoughts on. I feel like I don't really understand how the calibre, tone, and pacing of the first two books led to how this final book went down.
Everything just felt so so rushed. Kidnapping, problems at school (and speaking of school, how on earth are any of these kids getting an education LOL), dragon issues, pack issues, police issues, like there is SO much going on. And then add an asshole of a mate who is a jerk to Hayden for literally 75% of the entire trilogy, to being fine at the end? I have a lot of thoughts about Maddox lol.
I feel like if this had been a 4 book series then we could have gotten some more character and relationship growth and time with them being a full group together. And if the major conflict and issues could have been dealt with one at a time and with care and precision, this would have been another 5 star book for me. I wish more time and attention was given to Hayden's past and family.
I love Hayden and I love her mates and all of their interactions as they worked towards becoming a full bonded group. I know that you have to have a bit of suspension of belief for this series but it's so much fun and overall I enjoyed this trilogy. I'm looking forward to the next series and will definitely continue reading this author!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own.
4.25⭐️ I devoured this ALC in one car ride. I freaking love Tessa’s MMCs, they are always the broodiest, sweetest, and hottest guys! She does such a great job of writing a why choose story that’s more than just great spice.
This last book in the 𝘿𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣’𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 series was everything I needed it to be! The audiobook was fantastic with a full cast of narrators for Hayden and all of her mates! ✨
The story picks up right where 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 ended, so we are thrown right into Hayden being in a bad situation. Hayden and her mates must continue to strengthen their bonds while defending themselves against a variety of enemies.
FINALLY, our two holdouts in the bond slowly work through their inner demons so that they can get closer to Hayden. I freaking love each one of Hayden’s men. They are so in love with her, it’s off the charts. If I had to choose a favorite it would be a tie between Easton and Cáel. Easton’s backstory broke my heart, and Cáel was so invested and in love with Hayden from the very beginning.
The climax of the story was surprisingly but everything reached a nice resolution!
This is probably the spiciest book in the series as Hayden finally bonds with all of her mates!
Tessa treated us to an epilogue 12 years later and it literally gave me allllll the warm & fuzzy feelings I needed.
I am super excited for the next series by Tessa! I love the character that will be the main lead and I have SO MANY questions about her backstory.
My book hangover is so real, now I’m just going to go back and reread 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 to cope! 🤣
If you love stories with fated mates that are ultra protective and down BAD for their fiercely strong mate, go add 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐞 to your TBR today! If you are a audiobook lover, I highly recommend this one!
Am I being punked? Please tell me I'm being punked, cause surely there's no other explanation for the circus that was this book 😫
Book 1 of this series started out great, but each book has gotten increasingly worse. This one was just awful. I have NEVER- I repeat N.E.V.E.R. read about more useless men than what I encountered in this book. I have also never ever ever read about a FMC who gets hurt so much, and so often, without being fazed in the slightest.
But let's circle back to the "men" (a.k.a. 🤡) real quick. They were so useless and incompetent, they had to hire out the rescue of what's-her-face (can't be bothered to remember her name). Yes, you read that right. 5 (or was it 4? I honestly can't remember) dragon shifting, supposedly "badass" men didn't have it in them to rescue their mate from certain evil and death and torture, so they had to hire a wolf pack to do it for them 🥴🤡 I canNOT make this stuff up, people.
Adding to the growing list of inadequacies of our clowns is their complete lack of ability to keep our FMC from running into injuries around every. single. corner. I kid you not, our FMC gets injured every chapter. Every. Chapter. Yet she bounces back with complete grace and lack of mental/emotional trauma, only to do it again the next page. It was exhausting.
Oh oh! Let's not forget- FMC makes one of the twins grovel for how he treated her before she'll forgive him and bond with him, but when it came down to that other dude- who treated her WAY worse than that twin guy- all he has to say are some pretty words or something, and it's all sunshine and rainbows, "Yes, of course I'll bond with you!" YIKERS. 🤢
Let's not forget about the magic, or lack thereof. These books make it seem like Tessa Hale's first encounter with writing magical worlds, but it's not 😭 It was just so, so bad. There is talk of "special" abilities, like speed and weather control, yet we don't even get a whisper of the characters using these aforementioned extra talents. Then the shifting into the actual dragons was a nightmare... it was just a mess of epic messes.
I had to stop reading on page 241 (only 30 pages or so left and I just couldn't do it). After our FMC shifts into a purple dragon, kills all bad guys on the spot, and once again proves her men to be utterly and completely useless, I had to stop. This whole book was an ick that I'll probably never recover from.
We got answers, more bonds, and a HEA with a hint of what’s to come in the next series. All in alll, a good and natural conclusion. Keep in mind the plot is all focused on the romance and trying to bond/stay together. The conflicts surround this and there’s even more spice in this book as more bonds form.
Read this if you’re in the mood for… - why choose - fight to get her back - dragon romantasy - HEA - SPICE
I was actually surprised by some of the reveals in this book! I felt some things coming but others that I didn’t expect made it fun and kept me interested in the mystery part of the plot.
There’s no surprise that my favorite part of the book was their fight to get her back. It wasn’t drawn out too much or didn’t go too fast. The pacing of the whole series has been great.
I was entertained and I would recommend to someone looking for a why choose!
Dawn of Flames is the last installment in the Dragons of Ember Hollow trilogy and this was such a fantastic end to this epic series! This is a fated mates, dragon shifters, why choose romance that delivers on the most delicious characters! If you want a bingeable series to obsess over, read this series right now!
“Just getting to be in your orbit makes my life better. Seeing the color you paint our world with. How you care for everyone. How you’ve healed all my brothers. Made them whole again. How could I not fall in love with you?”
This series needs to be read in order, the first 2 books end on cliffhangers that lead into the next book. So this 3rd book picks up directly after the accident at the end of book 2 and we jump right back into this fast-paced world! From the bond, Hayden learning about her family history, dragon shifts, friendships, dragon scales, broody heroes, a heat…so much to keep your attention in this book! I love how each hero in this series brings something different to the story and has their own backstory to work through. We get angst in this one and getting to see the final relationship click into place was everything! The epilogue was sooo perfect! 🥹 And then the setup of the next series and character 👀, I AM SCREAMING!! So very excited! 👏👏
I binged the audio ALC and highly recommend this whole series in audio, such a fantastic full cast of narrators. Thanks so much to the author for the ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
"I would love them even if they were never capable of returning it."
Dawn of Flames was a great conclusion to the Dragons of Ember Hollow trilogy. I started reading this series right after finishing Supernaturals of Castle Academy, which was what introduced me to Tessa Hale. That was a series that I really liked, but this one about this amazing dragon horde managed to exceed my expectations. I think it's incredible how Tessa writes so many reverse harem series but she can make her characters so distinct from each other and with well-defined personalities. Props to her!
In this book, we have Hayden making more interesting discoveries about her past and facing several enemies who want to use her for their own gains. I liked seeing Hayden's personality grow throughout the series. I already thought she was a tough character, but I think she became even stronger as this book progressed as she got to know who she really was. In regards to the men, I love them all, but I need to admit that I've had a bigger crush on Easton and Maddox since the first book. I love this push-pull dynamic and when the couple fights against their attraction, I feel that the reward when they finally give in to their feelings is even better than if they'd gotten together smoothly in the beginning. However, I must say that I was getting nervous about Maddox in this book. To the girls who are crazy about him like me, hang in there, keep reading!
Other side characters that really caught my attention were Wren and Brix. We found out a little more about Hayden's best friend and what was shown about her story made me thirsty to know more. Brix is a guy with a very interesting personality and something he said to Cillian made me crazy to see a romance between him and someone in the future. "Feelings. Fucking liabilities.", he said. Oh my God, I need to read about Brix falling in love!
I thought this book was very focused on the development of Hayden's relationship with the guys, especially with the two who were keeping her away. Something that left me a little disappointed was precisely the way the conflict with the enemies was resolved.
In conclusion, I really liked the Dragons of Ember Hollow series, even more than the Supernaturals of Castle Academy trilogy. This solidified Tessa Hale as an author that I definitely want to read more of whatever she writes. I'm really looking forward to The Wolves of Crescent Creek, the new series that was announced and that we got preview chapters at the end of this book. As I mentioned, I loved Wren and I was really intrigued by Brix. On top of that, after reading the chapter from the POV of a boy named Kingston, I died right there, I was already swooning for him. I'm really excited to read the rest! And while the new series isn't coming out, I'm going to take the opportunity to binge-read the books from Tessa's past series that I haven't read yet.

⚠️Trigger Warnings: dark romance, kidnapping.
Even if I never touched you, I'd still fucking love you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ “I’d love nothing more than to strip you bare and fuck you over my desk. To sink my teeth into that pretty little neck and bind you to me for all eternity.”
Did I just binge this book? You betcha! I was completely invested in Hayden’s HEA - Finally seeing Maddox and Easton giving in to their need for her. Watching Hayden become one with her heritage.
This book is even better in audio with a Multi-cast, dual-style narration throughout.
Dawn of Flames concludes the Dragons of Ember Hollow series. It is easily Tessa Hale’s best series. I highly recommend it to those who love dragon shifters, rejected/reluctant mates, and happily ever afters.
I thought there was no chance of these books getting worse, but I was wrong.
SPOILERS AHEAD
First of all, I started these books because I didn't know what to read (I usually have clear what my next reading is going to be) but I knew what trope I wanted and it was RH/Why Choose so I decided to do some research on another social media and see people's recommendations, and I saw that many people recommended this saga by Tessa Hale. I already wanted to read this author so I decided to start this trilogy because the books were short and looked really good, but how wrong I was.
Let's take a look at the characters, I was really looking forward to how the love interest between the five MMCs and our female protagonist was going to develop, well, it's was a disaster. Knox and Hayden fall in love as soon as they meet on the first day of college, typical. Also I had a lot of faith in how the relationship between Maddox and Hayden would develop, teacher/student, forbidden love but what a disappointment, they literally go from 0 to 100 in less than a chapter and it makes no sense. The other three love interests I'm not even going to comment on because they've gone very unnoticed for me and I don't even remember half the interactions they've had.
The plot of the story, there was nowhere to take it, it just didn't make sense and it was the most typical plot ever. Hayden, a different’ girl who has never fit in anywhere, who doesn't like shopping and isn't like other girls because she likes to study and wears vans, please, the Wattpad era was in 2014, 10 years ago, let's stop making this kind of protagonists for the love of god. Delaney or whatever her name is, Hayden's ‘enemy’, who hates her the first moment she walks through the door of the room they share, of course. Who obsesses over her because she has ‘taken’ the boy she likes (Knox). Then, Hayden gets kidnapped 50 times and you don't understand why until the very last book that, gosh darn it, she's the last real living royal bloodline of dragons and her mere existence could change everything or make a lot of people rich. Anyway.
In short, I felt like I was back in my Wattpad days reading books that lack a solid plot, that the spicy scenes seem to have been written by a child and that our main character ‘is not like the other girls’, a disaster really. I had hopes that I was going to like this author but I'm not going to read anything else by her because it looks like all her books are going to be like this.
If you liked it, I'm glad, but this kind of books are not for me, I left this kind of books behind many years ago and I don't want to go back to them.
I cannot believe that release day for the FINAL book in the Dragons of Ember Hollow series is already here! You have been such troopers with each of the cliffhangers, and I cannot wait for you to read the conclusion to Hayden’s story with her mates! I have loved living in this world for the past year and I am going to miss these characters so much!
I hope you love the conclusion to the series! Will Hayden finally be able to shift into her dragon? How will Hayden and her mates survive??
Meh? Like it's alright, I wouldn't be confused about people enjoying it, but there was so much that was too ridiculous for me. Super fast-paced too. I have... complaints and wishes for more depth, yet at the same time, I'm really curious about Wren's story soooooo I guess this wasn't too then right otherwise I wouldn't want to jump into the next series.
3.5⭐️ I started this back in october, read 70% of it, got a bit annoyed at the fmc, had a break and finished the rest on the 26th of december... I don't remember enough to write an actual review 😅
3.25 stars. Short, like the other books, and - just like the previous series - I feel it would’ve been better as a duet instead of divided into three instalments. The pacing was a bit off, with a fair bit of repetition, then suddenly near the end, reconciliation of two MMCs with the FMC… with little explanation. Similarly, I found a few key plot points were wrapped up with disappointing anticlimactic resolutions, including the special quality that was introduced from the prologue in book one - it basically fizzled. On the other hand, there was a decent amount of action. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it satisfying? No. For how I felt invested in these characters, it was all just wrapped up too simplistically and suddenly.
Soooo much repetition by the time we got to this final book!
The first book was very addicting and had so much potential. The second was still good but we started to see some repetition. The third book was so slow and by the time I was at the 70% mark, I was just rage finishing this book. The first half was sooo slow, and then it was rushed for the rest of the book, a race to the finish line. It wrapped up in the last 15% with some random thing we’ve never even heard of, all of a sudden existing and cleaning up the whole mess.
The plot in this book basically just disappeared. This series can’t even be considered smut, because the spicy scenes were so ridiculously short, and rushed, and were basically all just the same scenario with a different guy. Again with the repetition. Also why are you even going to have a shifter heat scene in a book if it’s going to be 3 pages long.
And don’t even get me started on Maddox. WTF dude!
Book 1 was good, but it just goes down hill from there.
I’m outting myself for what sort of nonsense I read in my free time but- what the hell does it mean to describe the “cadence” of someone’s footsteps as “whimsical”?
