One of the most frustrating aspects of prayer is finding the right vocabulary to express what is in your heart. Praying the Scriptures inspires, illuminates, gives imagery, intelligence, adds intensity, and helps provide intimacy in prayer.
So simple. when I communicate with any one around me, I am most effective when I take the time to understand them. Serious prayer is no different. We direct our gratefulness to Him, ask our questions, mull over our problems, ask for action, ask for wisdom, ask for forgiveness, etc. But how do we know we are asking the best questions? Being grateful for as much as we could be? Asking for the most effective actions? And what realms of wisdom can be accessed?
Praying the Scriptures is a concept that accomplishes two things: we learn what is good, better and best, and we learn about Him and what He thinks. The obvious concept of praying the Scriptures is teaching me how God thinks, how to talk to Him, and how to listen to Him.
What an exciting, motivating, thought provoking book! The first 1/3 was amazing, the second 1/3 was really good, and the last 1/3 was challenging. I am so glad I was able to do this book as part of a Bible study because I am not sure I could have tackled it on my own. I can’t wait to put what I learned into practice!
I Loved this book I knew Judson Cornwall many years ago, He Came to Wilmington, Delaware,It taught me to pray God Word,it Ministered to me deeply, I put it into my prayer Life I gave it a high rating because I need what it teaches
An abundance of good preaching material on the subject of prayer. Potentially life transforming in the process of reading and in the practice of prayer. Especially insightful toward the end of the book (chpts 18-20).
