Pseudonym: Ivy James (slightly sexier stories) and Kay Stockham

Kay Lyons always wanted to be a writer, ever since the age of seven or eight when she copied the pictures out of a Charlie Brown book and rewrote the story because she didn’t like the plot.

Through the years her stories have changed but one characteristic stayed true— they were all romances. Each and every one of her manuscripts included a love story. Published in 2005 with Harlequin Enterprises, Kay’s first release was a #7 bestseller. Kay has also been a HOLT Medallion, Book Buyers Best and RITA Award nominee.

Kay's books are known for their heartfelt and emotional storytelling, focusing on themes of love, redemption, and personal growth. Her novels feature well-developed characters who navigate through life's challenges, finding love and new beginnings along the way. Set in charming small-town environments from mountains to beaches, her stories are filled with warmth, friendships, family dynamics, and a strong sense of community. Kay's writing is appreciated for its depth, relatable characters, and the emotional journeys her protagonists undergo. Her books are a blend of sweet and swoony romance that resonate with readers.

If you like slightly sexier books, check out Kay's alter-ego Ivy James. Kay currently focuses on sweet, small town contemporary romance while Ivy James' titles contain love scenes and mild language. Several of Kay's series have alternative versions by Ivy James, and you can find the list below. Just remember Kay Lyons' books are sweet/clean and wholesome, and Ivy James' are sexy.
Stone Gap Mountain Series (Ivy James) = Stone River Series (Kay Lyons)

The Getaway Guy was everything I hoped for and more.

Runaway bride Quinley hilariously escapes her wedding, leaps blindly into Elias’ limo, and our bewildering meeting between our leads begin.

What follows is a heartfelt burgeoning connection between two souls on a path of self-discovery. Quinley wants to find herself, to forge her own path and person; and Elias wants to find his voice, revealing a dream he hopes to build upon one day. Quinley and Elias knock each others’ walls down and peel each other layers’ back, and I so very much adored seeing their bond take root.

I loved how Quinley got Elias to open up, and when he did-- how she listened. Something his own family, who he greatly loves, fell short in doing.
Quinley may be figuring herself out, but she had no problem is figuring Elias out. In listening to his story, his dreams, and encouraging him every step of the way. Elias may have reservations to Quinley’s actions on her wedding day, but he slowly but surely comes to understand why she chose to run as she did. And he believes in her as much as she does in him.

They go from strangers to friends to lovers, and, for the most part, it's perfectly paced. I loved how the story didn't just rely on physical connection and attraction, in fact I'd say the emotional attachment was its main story. That said, I would have loved to see them spend more time together once the line was crossed into that something more. To see more on-page romancing.
Nevertheless, my enjoyment was never once deterred. I rooted so hard for Quinley and Elias!

I had a very lovely time reading this one. If you’re in the mood for runaway bride shenanigans, grumpy, gorgeous men, and making one’s own dreams come true, be sure to pick up The Getaway Guy!

They were cute but I wish they spent more time together. The time in the cabin was fun and I liked how they bonded. The fact that she got him into Gilmore Girls was fun.

I received an arc from grey's promotion.

This is the third book in the Blackwell Brothers Series, and it’s my first time checking out this author. The story and characters were enjoyable.

It’s about two strangers who slowly become friends and eventually fall in love. The book was sweet and funny in parts, focusing on Quinley, a runaway bride, and Elias. Their dynamic was cute, though I felt they didn’t have enough scenes together. I really enjoyed their time at the cabin, especially how they bonded. That said, both characters frustrated me at times, and I just wanted to shake some sense into them.

All in all, it was a decent read!

Thank you Grey's Promotions and Kay Lyons for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

5 stars!
This book was a complete rollercoaster and I loved it! The comedy, the angst, the flirting 🤭 Elias and Quinley were absolutely adorable 😎 These two were extremely strong, both as individuals and as a couple.

Elias is tall, handsome, protective, possesive, strong, succesful and has a great sense of humour 😂 He made me laugh so much with his sarcasm but also want to scream at him because of how he acted at times, by being closed off. Elias has been through a childhood filled with pain and difficulty. He had severe allergies since a young age and the person who helped him the most was his mom, but his parents were tragically kiĺled in an accident.

Quinley has lived a life controlled by her parents and the people around her. When she realises her marriage will be nothing different, she decides to run away from her wedding. She jumps into Elias's car, and her life takes the direction she always needed. Freedom was finally in her hands. She's brave, bold, intelligent, beautiful, strong, a flirt 😏 and loves with all her heart. She had to make difficult decisions and was put in situations she never should've been in but ultimately they made her stronger to follow on the path she needed to be on.

Rhys was a secondary character, I didn't know I would like. Even though Quinley broke his heart when she left him at the altar, he still cared for her. He helped her and was overbearing at times, but I understand it came from a good place. I could definitely see why he and Quinley weren't a match. They're extremely different people. I hope he finds the woman for him and gets his HEA.

Kay Lyons is a brilliant writer who pulls you in with her storytelling and writing. I loved the epilogue which gave us a glimpse into the next brothers book. Finn, I love that man and I cannot wait to read his book 🤭Thank you so much Kay for the ARC opportunity

Quinley hasn't felt right about her upcoming wedding for a while, but it's not until the day arrives that she realises she can't go through with it - and runs, complete with full wedding outfit, out the door (or window). Right into a limo that turns out to be driven by her best friend's brother-in-law-to-be. Elias has no time for any woman who could leave their groom at the altar, but something about the panic in this woman's eyes is irresistible. He even wants to help her smile again. But nothing more. His controlled life has no room for the disaster this woman brings with her. But as they spend time together hiding from reporters, it becomes clear that they might each be just what the other needs - if they can only put aside their baggage and take a chance...

A great read, with a good mix of humour and feeling. It starts with a bang and keeps going in a way that made it hard to put down. I sympathised with Elias' initial opinions of Quinley's actions, but loved watching them each start to see why the other acted as they did. His willingness to do what was best for her despite the potential cost to himself was inspiring. I also appreciated the way that the jilted groom was also able to forgive and move on. The result is an enjoyable read with interesting, relatable characters and a satisfying ending. Looking forward to more by the author.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Kay Lyons is a relatively new author to me but after reading The Getaway Guy I’m wondering why I haven’t read more by this talented author. This is runaway bride Quinley and Elias’s story and boy do they have a tale to tell.
When Quinley decides to run she jumps into Elias’s limo not realising it was occupied and from the moment they meet sparks fly. This couple both have walls built around their hearts and it’s going to take some soul searching to beak those walls down so can Quinley and Elias work through the layers and get the HEA they both deserve. One click this breath of fresh air to find out.
This is a journey about strangers going to friends and eventually to lovers, it’s a heartwarming and at times hilarious read and I highly recommend it. The writing is strong and the characters adorable and I found myself cheering this couple on. Looking forward to reading more by the talented Ms Lyons.

This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Ellias and Quinley story.
Quiney has lived with her life being controlled by her parents, and on her wedding day she feels her future is going to be the same, so she hightails it out and gets into a limo which is already occupied. Ellias just want to finish his shift and escape to the mountains for a much needed vacation, but the sparks fly between them, and he decides to help her getaway.
This is a well written story which has family, friendships, emotions, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, drama, angst, humor, witty banter, making decisions, strangers / friends / lovers, and love, which leads to an entertaining, sweet, and heartwarming small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

This is considered a clean romance, but is still a very good book!!

The Getaway Guy was a Rollercoaster of a book. It immediately starts out with Quinley, the soon to be bride, making a mad dash to an empty limo and asking said limo driver to get her out of there. This Limo driver turned out to be Elias, best friends future brother in law. Elias was only planning to drop off some guests and head on a peaceful solo trip for a little bit. Quigley derailed that plan and is now tagging along.

I loved the emotions in this book. There was so many ups and downs between Quinley and Elias. They both had a lot to work through, but are now working through them together.

Kay Lyons did an excellent job of creating this little world of Quinley and Elias!!

Quinley decides to not get married on her actual wedding day. She gets away via a limo, which happens to be driven by Elias Blackwell. As they escape and hide together, they spend lots of time in close proximity and eventually become friends with complicated feelings for each other.

The family’s naming convention of A to I reminds me of a popular historical romance made into a TV series. It does make it much easier to know who is who within the large Blackwell family. 😊

Overall, Elias was an interesting character borne out of the difficulties he faced as a kid and his way of taking control of (almost) everything in life to keep going. Quinley though fell short and her whining makes it difficult for me to see her as worthy of Elias who has been through so much more.

The 3rd book in The Blackwell Brothers series is about Ellias Blackwell. His current shift is driving a limo, which would be relatively tame, until runaway bride Quinley hops in and hijacks it.

Despite not wanting to be involved at all with the mess left behind from Quinley running away before saying 'I do', his protective instincts doesn't allow for this. Instead he can only hope that his decision to help her doesn't harm his family or his heart.

Their relationship develops from strangers to friends to lovers. Not a spice oriented book, but is a cute sweet contemporary read. A good book if you are wanting a clean light palette cleanser.

A runaway bride and the unsuspecting limo driver who becomes her getaway man.

Lovable characters in a strangers-turned-friends-turned-lovers romance as Quinley and Elias get to know each other. An easy and entertaining read with chemistry, drama, steam, twists and romance.

Elias Blackwell and Quinlan Anders

Nice idea for a story. The situation seemed to go on too long for me. I also had trouble seeing the H ever becoming attracted to the h. Parts of story were really good, though.

This is Book 3 in the Blackwell Brothers Series and my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It is a heartfelt strangers to friends to lovers romance between Quinley and Elias. These likeable souls and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. It is a love story with some drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A emotional read.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Grey's Promotions and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
