RYAN I’m in the best relationship of my life, which is ridiculous, because I'm absolutely miserable. My boyfriend of two years is a shark in the courtroom but more like a mythical creature at home, meaning he's never home. He doesn't exist here anymore. After months of him choosing to work late into the night, cancel our plans or simply not show up. I find my backbone and leave. I will not stay in another neglectful relationship or ignore the red flags any longer. I’m DONE, It's OVER.
DREW After years of hard work and months of little sleep, I finally became a partner at Novak & Smith Law. I reached my goal but what I had missed along the way, was how miserable I was making the love of my life. Now he's left me. I’ve won the big case, I’ve won my dream promotion, now I need to win back MY MAN. Tattooed Heart is and MM romance story of second chances. With hilarious family group chats. Friends that become a found family and one Master plan of Wooing. Follow Drew and Ryan as they fall back in love while remembering how they got there in the first place.
Tattooed Heart is book one in the Tattooed series by the writing duo, Elamy Pride. This is their debut book! This is the sweet, humorous story of an established couple hitting a rough spot. And finding their way back from it.
Drew Cliffer and Ryan met two years ago and fell in love. They moved in together one year later. Ryan had a previous relationship with a controlling man that left him mistrustful. But in Drew, he found everything he had always dreamed of. Until things fell apart.
Drew is a lawyer. His dream is to become partner and he is working night and day to prove to the other partners that he deserves the promotion. The problem is that in his focus to succeed at work, he forgot about what he had at home. A man who loved him. He often forgot when they had plans to meet for a meal, or other date plans. He just wouldn’t show up.
Ryan is a tattoo artist. Drew had encouraged him to put his art on canvas and it’s the big night of his show. Only Drew forgot to show up. It’s the end of the line for Ryan. He won’t live his life being a second thought to someone who barely seems to remember he exists. He’s done.
“I can’t live alone in a house that’s supposed to be a home, waiting for him to decide I’m worth coming home to.”
Drew now has the job of his dreams but not the man he loves. His one and only goal now is to win his man back. And he’ll do whatever it takes to do that. Because Ryan is it for him.
This was a cute story and a pretty quick read. I didn’t really like Drew’s term of endearment for Ryan, Pretty Boy. It got a little old for me but Ryan liked it! I enjoyed the fun interactions between Drew and his siblings. His younger brother, Pete is hilarious and is the main character in the next book, Tattooed Mind.
i didn’t really like the writing style and the author lost me when she had ryan serenade drew by singing blank space by taylor swift. yes, it’s a popular song but in my head i’m thinking, why that one in particular?? especially to serenade someone? it really wasn’t needed, and not to mention that taylor was still brought up a few times in the story. same goes for rihanna and how ryan also sang one of her songs to drew. stuff like that is really a hit or miss for me. idk why but i don’t enjoy seeing songs and other pop culture things that i recognize in books. it just ruins the mood, in my opinion.
i also just wasn’t feeling the buildup of the story. drew has to win ryan back after basically neglecting him for months, but i could tell that this wasn’t going to include the groveling that i like. i needed drew to be on his knees crying and begging for ryan to not leave him from the very jump. instead, he just stood in place thinking “what just happened?”🧍🏼♂️. like nah buddy, apparently that’s not your soulmate because you just let him walk out like it was nothing. once ryan took their damn rug, it was apparently a wake up call for drew to try and come up with a plan to win him back. unfortunately, i was beyond checked out at that point.
This book is about people who put their partners on hold while they go off to achieve their dreams outside the partnership and hope to find them right where they left them when they return.
Since I got this as an ARC of the audiobook, I have to say that I hated the narration. I've not listened to any by Sion Hardd before but something about the voice just didn't work for me. It sounded really mechanical.
Eventually I did get used to it, but I never loved it.
"Do you know, that night when I got home after the show and he wasn't there, I wondered if he was cheating on me.....and I didn't care?"
"Do you have any idea how much I've missed you?" "You mean this week, right? How much you've missed me this WEEK. What about last week? Or the one before that?"
I feel like the major issue with this is that Ryan himself says the abandonment has been going on for 8 months.
I understand that 8 months is a long time but I think it's on the shorter end for someone trying to make partner at their law firm? I could be wrong but it sounds.....not as bad as it could be?
To be fair, probably any amount of abandonment within a relationship is a big deal. Drew not showing up to Ryan's show IS a big deal.
Still. I feel like maybe Ryan packing up his life and moving out immediately would have come across better(to me) if it had been year(s) of this🙈
Though, maybe factoring in Ryan's issues with abandonment from his prior relationship DOES explain it. I can understand seeing the start of a pattern you walked away from before and saying, yeah....this time, I'm not waiting around on this to become a full blown thing like last time.
And Drew KNEW of this specific issue. So.
I usually struggle with stories featuring established couples because it's hard to feel that connection when I wasn't there for their falling in love story.
It was the same case here. I could see their issues and their attempts to fix them but I didn't care one way or the other whether they succeeded.
Drew DID do a lot of stuff that Ryan rightfully figured would be unsustainable long term. Ryan DID end up forgiving too easily, only for one small hiccup to remind him that they hadn't fixed the cracks in the foundation of their trust.
Too little angst for a story with this premise. This, coupled with the narration meant that this one didn't quite hit the spot.
Tattooed Heart is the debut novel for author duet Elamy Pride! I was lucky enough to read this book as it was being written and it is fantastic for a debut!
This is a second-chance romance between Ryan and Drew. I don’t often read second-chance romances and the way this book was written it almost doesn’t feel like one. There are flashbacks throughout the book going back to when they originally met and I thought this was so well done and I loved being able to experience their relationship starting as well as it blooming again!
This story had just the perfect about of angst, sweetness, wooing, sexy times and fun! They have incredible sexual chemistry that I didn’t see coming at all but absolutely loved.
The story is shorter but it honestly doesn’t feel that way. Since the couple already had a connection and we got to see how their relationship started nothing felt too fast or unrealistic.
I absolutely can’t wait to read more books from these authors and this series! If you like support new authors absolutely give this book a chance!
I enjoyed this debut novel! I'm eager to read more in this series.
Although second chance is not my fave trope, this was a really lovely version of it. These boys needed to be together again - they are such a good match and I enjoyed getting to know them. I admit to some tears in the reading of this sweet book.
Audiobook update: Sion Hardd is a new-to-me narrator and it’s great having a fresh voice! This narrator did a nice job with both POV and I enjoyed his pleasant voice. The emotional moment were done well and the voices were fairly distinct.
4 stars Very good debut novel, I'm so glad I read it. Drew and Ryan love each other deeply, but, as often happens, life demands get in the middle and, before they know it, their relationship is ruined. Ryan feels neglected and, instead of talking to Drew, he decides to left him when he reaches his breaking point. Drew was so oblivious about Ryan's feelings that he doesn't even realise what he's done until Ryan is out of their home.
Drew took Ryan for granted, thinking he had all the time in the world to enjoy their relationship once getting his partnership at the law firm (I found particular sad Ryan's thought about Drew's needing a partneship but not a partner). The authors don't linger on the eight months of Drew's mad work, but from the dropped hints, we know that Drew didn't even answer to Ryan's texts nor had the time to make love to him anymore.
I loved how Drew was resolute to get Ryan back and how he did everything to show him he has changed. I also appreciated the structure of the book, with flashbacks of their past: it's very clear that they belonged to each other from the start.
What prevented me from giving an higher rate: I feel like the talk about disappointments, expectations and frustrations between Ryan and Drew was a little glossed over: I would have liked a more upfront conversation between them, especially because Ryan thought Drew's behaviour was similar to his abusive ex; it's obvious that Ryan's fears run deep and maybe that deserved to be faced in depht.
I believe these authors are worth keeping an eye on and I look forward to read the next book of the series (Gavin and Pete's story).
Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the authors and this is my honest review.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a superb debut novel, I really enjoyed it. I didn’t used to be a huge fan of second chance romances but I find when they’re done well I love them!
There is nothing quite like a fictional man holding himself accountable to his actions to make you swoon. At first I was worried I was going to hate Drew because I’m definitely more of a Ryan in that scenario but he basically does what we all wish our ex’s had done 😂
It’s not a long story but it didn’t feel rushed and the pacing was great. I LOVED the family group chats, reminded me of me and my own sisters.
Drew is an up and coming Lawyer working all hours hoping to be offered a Partnership in his company. He’s living with his boyfriend Ryan, who is an Artist and Tattooist.
Ryan is having a first exhibition of his work in a Gallery and everybody comes out to support and congratulate him. Everybody that is, except Drew.
This is the last straw for Ryan who has been feeling lonely and neglected for the past 6 months, due to Drew working late, starting early and sometimes even sleeping in his office. Ryan’s ex did a number on him a few years ago and he swore he wouldn’t tolerate such dismissive behaviour again.
It’s only the next morning when Drew comes home, he sees Ryan sitting there waiting looking very distant. Not too many words are exchanged before Drew notices the suitcases by the door. Then Ryan says Goodbye and leaves.
Elamy Pride is a new author to me and ‘Tattooed Heart’ is a first in Series book. It is short read, a few hours at most. Unbelievably it is also her debut novel, and accompanied with a great Playlist, which I’m also checking out.
Two, very much in love guys, caught up in their own stuff, forgetting the important stuff, and most importantly lack of communication about their wants and needs.
I loved the Tattoo Shop Artists that were so supportive of Ryan, and of course Drew has this great bunch of siblings, especially his brother Pete.
Yes so, a ‘calming’ read, with some laughs after a previous angsty, emotional rollercoaster of a book.
This book was a debut novel by the author duet Elamy Pride & I liked it so much. Their writing style was just how I like it & Ryan and Drew were such beautiful characters, I loved them so much.
I love the second-chance romance trope & this book was just so beautifully written. Ryan & Drew's relationship has been almost nonexistent for a few months because Drew has been busy with a big case for the law firm he works at while ignoring Ryan not on purpose but still. Ryan is very angry by his behaviour so he decides to leave their house after confronting Drew but also not giving him any chance to explain himself. After Ryan leaves, Drew is very heartbroken & he knows he is not going to give up on their relationship so he makes the Master Plan for Wooing Ryan with the help of his siblings.
I loved the flashbacks about how they met for the first time & now in present how Drew was wooing Ryan & letting him know that he remembers everything about him. Their dates were so amazingly written & the chemistry they had was so amazing. As amazing as their chemistry was their sexual chemistry was more terrific & I loved every second of this book. The side characters in this book were all so wonderful, I loved the guys from Savage Ink & Drew's siblings.
I am looking forward to reading more books from the authors & this series. Can't wait for Pete & Gavin's novel, I liked the few moments we got about them.
Ryan has been with Drew for 2 years, but he is getting to the point where he is not sure why. Drew is never home and doesn't show up for Ryan. Ryan starts to question if he should be with Drew.
Drew knows he has been absent from his relationship with Ryan for a while, but it was all to make partner at the law firm he works at. He wants to give Ryan the world. When Drew comes home to celebrate the news of making partner, he finds Ryans bags packed ready to leave.
Drew adores Ryan and will do anything to win him back. Do he goes back to basics and starts to woo him all over again. Will he be able to win back Ryan.
Elam Pride were new to me authors when I was asked to read the third book in this series. Which I loved, so I knew I wanted to read the first two. This book was gorgeous. It flows super easy and I love the way the characters are written. I hope Pete is the next book.
“I love you, and I will never stop showing you how much I appreciate and need you in my life ”.
This second chance novella was a nice read/listen. While I thought the narrator did a good job, I personally didn't overly enjoy his voice. Both MCs needed to communicate more before their relationship came to the point of falling apart, especially Ryan who expected Drew to know how upset he was with the way things were. I liked how determined Drew was to win Ryan back and how committed he was to making changes to ensure their relationship worked better for them both in the future. Once things were working they made a great couple.
Oh my gosh, what a sweet surprise! I've never read anything by Elamy Pride before, and Tattooed Heart turned out to be an absolute pleasure.
A second chance romance is my favorite kind of love story, and Pride does a great job with this one. There aren't a bunch of silly misunderstandings (like we too often get), rather these two men have some valid issues and they work through them in a realistic, true way.
I espescially enjoyed the many references to the Avengers characters (I'm a big fan as well), and this added so much to the charm of the relationship.
Elamy Pride also introduces some interesting side characters, and I'm looking forward to future installments of the Tattooed series.
The audiobook version of Tattooed Heart is beautifully performed by Sion Hardd. They have so many different voices for all of these characters and I'm glad to have discovered a new narrator whom I enjoy.
an audiobook copy of Tattooed Heart was provided for the purpose of my honest review, all opinions are my own
- Established Couple - Second Chance - Tattoo Artist/Lawyer - Master Plan of Wooing - Found Family - Superhero References
This was a sweet intro into the series about an established couple that lost their way and are finding their way back. These two were made for each other and needed to be back together but stubbornness and old hurts hinder their reunion. When Drew realized that he messed up and needed to win his man back, he commenced the wooing! His group chats with his siblings were silly and a great addition to the story.
I hadn't listened to anything from Sion before, but I felt they did a good job with the voices/personalities of the characters.
Content Warnings (may contain spoilers): - Graphic sexual content between consenting adults - Explicit language - Parental abandonment (past; off-page) - Mentions of emotional manipulation (past; off-page) - Mentions of self-esteem and trust issues

I actually love this one!, it is a new little fav and one of those that although it is not perfect, you just love. I read it in one sitting and not once struggled or get bored, I just had a fun time, plus second-chance is one of my ultimate favourite tropes.
I love the flashbacks to when Drew and Ryan met and seeing Drew wooing Ryan back. There were also times were the scenes pull my heartstrings and I absolutely love it. Taking into account the length of the book I understand we may not go super deep into feelings, situations, maybe address everything or feel rushed or easy, but I still think is very solid, and most importantly, I just had a great time.
*I received an ALC of this book, all opinions are my own*
I went into this with no expectations and it was really well written! Second chance isn’t usually my favorite theme, but this was presented in a different way to the majority of second chance romances and the grovel & effort put in by Drew (and then later by Ryan) to reconnect were lovely!
The narration by Sion Hardd was excellent and fit the characters very well. They are a new to me narrator but I will be keeping an eye out for more from them!
A touching tale as we watch the break up of a relationship as Ryan packs his stuff and leaves Drew totally heartbroken, knowing it was all his fault. But he won't give up, he's going to fight for what he loves and that gives us the sweetest re-romance with flash backs now and then to their first meeting and dates. It's at times angsty, then touching but a totally gorgeous tale.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I am seriously in love. A well written and executed storyline that kept my interest throughout. Adorable characters and fun supporting cast, I was hooked from the start and the romance steam and light angst kept me throughout, a fantastic read
tattooed heart is a quick low-angst second chance romance. ryan, a singer/tattoo artist gets fed up and leaves drew as it seems that drew became too busy with his career. i like how they worked on their relationship at the right pace and they communicated really well towards the end. while they already have an established relationship at the start of the book, there are snippets of flashbacks that will help you get to know the couple more.
add this in your bookshelf if you are looking for your next fluffy read!
This story was cute, not going to lie. I did need to adjust to the new narrator and the way the story was told, but I loved it. It was funny and a little angsty for a second there. But mostly lighthearted fun and all the fluffy feels one gets when listening to second chance romances. And while this story may not have been long it did not feel rushed and was able to tackle both MCs issues and bring them back together. Can’t wait to start the next book honestly because the little preview at the end captured my attention.
This review is for the audiobook. I was consistently entertained listening to this second-chance-lite story. I didn’t always love the narrator; he fell into sounding suggestive in a smarmy/cheesy way sometimes, which grated on my ear. But mostly he was enjoyable. I liked his voice otherwise.
The story features artist/tattoo artist and neglected boyfriend Ryan, whose live-in boyfriend, lawyer Drew, has been working so hard to become a partner in his law firm, he’s forgotten Ryan exists. Very little interaction, ships passing in the night, no sex, and Drew forgets to show up at all to Ryan’s important art show. He’s even left Ryan on Read. For days.
Ryan has trauma in his past, over being gaslit and abandoned/emotionally abused by both his father and an ex, and he can’t stay in a relationship where it’s happening again. By the time Drew’s finally gotten good news that he’s ready to celebrate with Ryan...Ryan’s packed and out the door.
The remainder of the book is one big grovel of Drew realizing he’s been an ass and showing Ryan how much Ryan means to him, that despite his emotional disappearance for a while, he’s always been paying attention, loves Ryan, listens to Ryan, wants Ryan back. And Ryan, who still loves Drew very much, is...susceptible to being wooed.
And gets all the wooing.
Ryan himself isn’t perfect; he was not good at putting his foot down and expressing his needs, didn’t call out Drew on his neglect, or ask for what he wanted. Communication became near nonexistent, and yes, he comes to realize/understand his part in the breakdown. Maybe he caves kinda early, but, it’s clear these two just needed to talk and stop for a breath to appreciate their connection. It made sense to me.
With a strong friend group on Ryan’s side at his tattoo parlor, and a strong family to support Drew, these two find their way back to each other, including a few flashback chapters interspersed throughout that show how they met and fell in love in the first place. And there are plenty of sexytimes to show physical connection along with the resurging emotions. I believed in them.
Some of the pop culture refs were weird...kinda generic and odd choices? I don’t know, the refs threw me out of the book a time or two. Especially the Rhianna song choice. There’s also a rather cliché antagonist whose part in it all could have been used more effectively, but, I was kinda glad he didn’t create even more tension than he did.
HEA, lovers reunited/reminded why they love each other, sort of second chance. I wouldn’t call it long separation because Drew gets right to work wooing Ryan back, so, they’re constantly on page with each other. Absolutely no others or info on others; their initial meeting was a pickup in a bar where Ryan moonlights as a singer/guitar player, but, no evidence of other lovers. Totally safe for me! Recommended.
My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the audiobook; this is my free and impartial opinion.
4.5 stars Tattooed Heart is the debut by Elamy Pride and starts with a relationship in crisis. Ryan’s boyfriend Drew has failed to show up at the art show he’s part of. The fact that Drew has once again put work over Ryan is the last straw. The next morning when Drew arrives home full of good news, intending to propose, Ryan tells him he’s leaving. How did they get to this place? What follows is a series of flashbacks detailing the start of their relationship and Drew’s efforts to woo Ryan back. I loved Drew. I get him. The drive to succeed, the focused intensity on achieving his goals. To be fair, he was honest about what he wanted when they met, and in his mind Ryan was just as driven and busy as he was. He really was blindsided by Ryan’s unhappiness. I loved Drew’s boisterous siblings with their ideas to win Ryan back. And Ryan’s calm, wise mother reminding him the both have flaws - Drew loved him no matter what, didn’t he deserved the same? I liked Ryan but felt he could have done a better job communicating his loneliness. And then ghosting Drew even after his friends tell him to at least talk to him? I was on Team Drew for sure. Ryan leaving was a wake-up call to Drew. And his hyper focus on Operation-Win-Ryan-Back was kind of awesome. He showed he was paying attention- recreating their first date, winning over his work colleagues with coffee and game night. And puppies! Drew as a dog dad to Loki and Thor was adorable. There’s a problematic pot-stirring work colleague of Drew’s who has Ryan thinking the worst. At this point I was a bit annoyed with Ryan and liked Drew tapping the brakes and telling Ryan he needed to figure out if Drew was what he really wanted. Spoiler Alert: he was. And Ryan starts to realize all the ways Drew had been there for him, the little things he did to show he knew and loved him - not just remembering missed dates. Now it was time for Ryan to prove he was just as committed as Drew… This was a sweet story with a lovely HEA, great cast of characters, and the promise of more to come. And bonus points for having Drew look like Chris Evans.
A story about the power of forgiveness, regret and love
Tags: Emotional, profound, witty, eloquent writing, immersive, second chances, opposite attracts, dual timeline, no cliffhangers, heartwarming, passionate. "A relationship isn't always fifty-fifty Ryan. Sometimes it's forty-sixty or eighty-twenty." This quote encompasses the message and the essence of this book. Emotional, heartwarming, and scorchingly hot, it tells a story about mistakes we all make: taking people for granted and deeply mourning them when they are gone. It is a page-turner and compelling combination of hurt and comfort, passion and deep emotions, a testament to the power of forgiveness, regret, and love. Ryan is an artistic musician and tattoo artist who is sensitive, with a past of being abandoned by his father and hurt by his ex. Drew is a driven and ambitious lawyer pursuing a career at the expense of the relationship. They are in love and living together for two years when things reach a boiling point. Everything collapses because Drew neglects Ryan for his ambition and work, and Ryan is not ready to compromise or face his fears and issues. Eloquent and vivid writing and witty and humorous descriptions of MC's emotions, thoughts, and reaction gives insight and context to the characters, adding to their charm and making their choices relatable. The dual timeline gives enough context to the present to keep the reader engaged and emotionally involved. Along with a funny, banter, dynamic, and captivating narrative and a topic anybody can relate to, this book is an uplifting page-turner that will leave you swooned and satisfied.
Drew He’s worked hard all his life and it was finally coming to fruition, his dreams coming true, he made partner at his law firm all the sacrifices had been worth it, well all but one, Ryan. How did he miss how lonely and abandoned Ryan felt, he didn’t see it coming until it was too late. Determined to make it up to Ryan, show him that they are meant to be. Drew realises that work isn’t everything if you don’t have the man you love to come too. He has to rebuild the trust, change what once was, show his man that he is it for him and he’s not going down without swinging. When it comes to the matters of the heart Drew isn’t an expert but that won’t stop him from showing Ryan that what they have built is worth it.
Ryan His past relationship hurt him and changed him to the core, now Ryan sees red flags everywhere. 2 years into a relationship with the love of his life and he’s hit a stalemate, feeling desperate and alone Ryan does the one thing he doesn’t want to do and walks away. Missing his man and reflecting on what could have been devastates his heart, did he give up when the going got tough is Ryan’s constant internal battle, before he can stop himself from drowning Drew dives in carrying a life jacket and brings his man back to the place he’s always belonged. He chose right this time but Ryan has to fight too, Drew cannot do it alone
I was conflicted on how to rate this because their whole problem was not communicating which would have prevented everything and that drives me absolutely crazy. I thought they were both being dumb not just the one MCs that is painted as the wrong one. Also, there are constant Taylor Swift references. I'm a Swifty and even I thought it was excessive. I get it the one MC does singing events and he loves her but it just came up in every conversation and it was a bit overkill. To me it gave it a YA feel but there was some steamy scenes so not YA. It was a strange dynamic. I think because it was a short read I was more inclined to rate it higher than I would have had it been longer.
I did like the characters. I was glad that they didn't do anything too drastic that would make me hate them, so I was rooting for them to make up. I also liked that there wasn't alot of time in between. That urgency made their love more real for me. I do like how Ryan wooed Drew back. It was real and sweet without being over the top fake.
Normally I don't like back and forth timelines but in this case it really helped to show each scene from past and then present.
Overall it was a good quick story but hopefully the series will improve.
The narrator had an ok sounding voice and kept a good pace on 1.2x. I could feel alot of the emotions emoted but the reading parts were slightly monotone. They did really make an effort to give the characters their own distinct voice especially the side characters so I enjoyed listening to it even though it was a 5 star performance.
I’m always game to try an audio from a new-to-me author by a new-to-me narrator. Tattooed Heart hit both of those and I grabbed it
At first, I wasn’t convinced – I hated Drew. Ryan had a super important night and his boyfriend wasn’t there. And sure, there are always reasons why someone can’t show up, but Drew doesn’t appear to have a good reason. This has been coming for a long time, but Ryan’s heart is broken and it’s over.
This is where the book begins. Now, the narrative shifts back and forth between the beginning of the relationship – showing how the men met and fell in love – while layering in Drew’s mission to win Ryan back.
I wasn’t convinced Drew could do it, but I sat back with my popcorn and prepared to watch the show as he did his best. Roping in his family as well as Ryan’s amazing coworkers/friends, Drew had secret weapons. (Two in particular – no spoilers)
I found myself smiling by the end of this audio and I really enjoyed myself. I also got a preview of the next story and I’m waiting with anticipation for the next book. I’m so glad I took a chance on this story. Sion Harrd was a great narrator and I’d happily listen to more audios from them.
This audio was just a treat and I hope for much more.
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was interesting and kept me hooked. I really liked both Ryan and Drew and could actually relate to both of them; I see where both are coming from. Ryan feels abandoned and unimportant in his workaholic boyfriend's life, who encourages him but is never there. Drew is running ragged and killing himself to make partner at the law firm where he works. As soon as he does it, he can finally take things easy and devote himself to his and Ryan's future. But Ryan has been in a bad relationship before, and one disappointment too many finally breaks him. Drew finally achieves his goal, but has lost the love of his life in the process. Can he win Ryan back or is it too late? Can Ryan risk his heart to give Drew another chance, or should he just walk away, heal, and move on with his life?
Sion Hardd did a good job bringing this story and these characters to life. Well paced and I could tell the characters apart. This was both my first book by this author and my first time listening to this narrator. I would definitely check out more of their work. 4 stars.
Both the author and the narrator were new to me, so I was very excited. Drew and Ryan's relationship is at an end, at least from Ryan's point of view. Drew has feelings, but he has a lot of work to do if he wants to achieve his professional goals. But his private life falls by the wayside. I could understand both sides very well. I immediately liked Ryan, but I had some problems with Drew because he didn't show up on an important day for Ryan. The story is written alternately from Drew's and Ryan's point of view and it jumps back and forth between the present and the past from time to time. That basically worked, I got used to it at some point, but you always had to pay attention. What I thought was great was how Drew fought for her relationship. Look forward to a happy ending and I loved the cute puppies!
Sion Hardd is a new narrator for me and I thought he did a great job narrating this book. I was able to distinguish the two characters well and he also conveyed the emotions very well. I could feel Ryan's excitement directly.
This was really sweet and I wish I had read it sooner. Both men are goal oriented and it unfortunately was their biggest issue in their relationship. I love how Drew went above and beyond to get his man back. I’m looking forward to Gavin & Pete’s book. 🖤🔥🎨🔥🖤
My favorite quotes:
• Ryan: A meal here would have been wonderful on its own but it's like he understands that I need him to put more than just money into this. I need his time and his attention and tonight was all of that.
• “You should really let me put some ink on you, Cap,” he comments while biting down on his lower lip as his hands roam my body.
“I don’t need you to brand my skin, Ryan. You're already embedded in my veins, like your name has been tattooed on my damn heart.”
• Ryan: You’re a great man, Andrew. I was a fool, but I'm not willing to be a fool any longer. I want this life with you. This life where we talk openly. The good and the bad. Where we have dates in the dog park, even if I have to come down to your office and drag you home sometimes. I want that life because you’re it for me. We’re a team, and teams have team meetings and Avengers assemble.”
