Stockholm syndrome really did me one. And now I have to deal with the aftermath of my poor decisions.Alek Ivankov is a ruthless murderous monster. That’s what my husband says about the prisoner he has been torturing for a month now.
The Bratva and its violence are not new to me, but Nikolai's actions terrify me.
The prisoner’s screams keep me up at night, and I don’t mean in the sexy way. Although saying I never thought about him that way would be a lie…
I have to do something.
So, I begin sneaking into Alek’s cell to heal his wounds. This act of defiance reignites something in me. And every time we meet, I uncover more and more of my husband’s lies.
It hurts to learn Nikolai is ruining our marriage only to get back at his definitely-not-dead ex-wife.
However, confronting him about his past has not gotten me anywhere, if not locked up in the basement with Alek.
In or out of a cell, I finally realize I have always been my husband’s prisoner.
Running away is my only option now. And I’m taking Alek with me.
Because the truth is lethal, and he is the only one who can save me.
If my husband doesn’t kill me first.
My husband's prisoner has become my dirtiest little secret…

As a teenager, Faye used to read at night with a flashlight underneath her bed covers. She fantasized of bad boys who stopped at nothing to capture the hearts and bodies of their women, and of equally strong heroines. Make no mistake, there are no damsels in distress in her world.
Her addiction is the “enemies to lovers” trope, and maybe that’s why when she first met her husband, their chemistry was just as sizzling as their disapproval of each other. But as in her novels, passion won, and now they live through their happily ever after.
By day, she is taking care of her household. By night, her shadow self emerges to satisfy her undisclosed desires. Literary and not.
ARC review: This was a great book that was well paced, had an intriguing storyline with solid characters. Alek and Anya captivated my attention from the beginning of the book and held my attention throughout the entire book. I read this book quickly because I couldn't wait for the next chapter. The depravity in Nikolai's character was well defined and sourced out, but wasn't so dark that the entire book centered on it.
Anya's character was what I look for in a MFC. She was strong when she had to be and also calculating as she helped Alek. Alek's character was so much more than the reader initially was to believe. The author paced the levels in this book very well as the story was laid out. As the plot unfolded the reader was able to understand the different roles of the characters and how they all came together to make this story.
I loved all the sub-characters in this book including Henry. They too added to a really well written book. I love a story in this genre that has an original plot. This book delivered that and so much more.
Anya is married to Nikolai, a ruthless Bratva mobster. Anya and Nikolai's story can be found in Hunter's Prey. Nikolai has kept Alek Ivankov prisoner and is slowly torturing him. Anya sneaks into Alek's cell to help heal his wounds and while bonding with Alek, uncovers her husband's lies. Nikolai has begun to hurt and punish Anya as well as continuing to torture Alek. Anya decides she needs to help Alek escape as well as herself. This well-written, dark mafia story is filled with plenty of sexy steam in addition to many dangerous, suspenseful twists and turns that kept me turning the pages and wanting to know more. The Extended Epilogue seems to hint that there may be more to this story. Good read.
This book is bullshit. You spend the whole effing first book setting up a love interest and out of the clear blue skies in this book suddenly the guys an abuser? When his actions in the first book which were almost the same were considered romantic? I mean the main character loved him so much she married him yet she saw him beat up a guy and all of a sudden she doesn't anymore? It's like bitch you saw his psychopathic tendencies before yet now it's not cool? Urgh.
And I'm not going to bother marking this for spoilers because you would've have to have read the first book since this is number 3 in a series.
Dark but fantastic, I love Alek and Anya’s story, it's the kind of story in which you can feel that you are there with them, you can feel their pain and their love, the dark cold dungeon. The twists and turns in this book are so well written, it is storytelling at its best! You want to keep turning the page to read more, to find out what happens next, do they get out alive, will Nikolai get his revenge?
Once again Faye has delivered a brilliant story that you can't stop reading. Five stars are not enough for this book, if you like dark mafia romance this is the book for you.
This story is dark, with plot twists that will keep you questioning and guessing. The richly described characters and locations will keep you feeling like you are right there in the story. You will feel the damp chill, pain and loneliness of the cell or the loneliness and despair of a bedroom, the fear, cruelty, friendship, new connection and steam. Faye is an amazing storyteller and knows how to keep her readers wanting to keep turning the pages and wanting more.
Dark mafia story at its finest with Faye Pierce behind these written words. Alek and Anya are like star crossed lovers destined to meet but in this case the circumstances are dark and dangerous. Taking down the man who has brought so much pain won't be easy, but it did make this a suspenseful read that seems to have more to come as the epilogue felt more like an HFN type ending.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
So Anya from book one decides that her husband that she was so in loved, is actually a very bad man...
And decided to go around his back to help a prisoner and actually betrayed him...
I'm passing this one, because I've just read their story and actually enjoyed it, he was brutal, a hard man but he was very upfront with it, honest and treats her very well, he gave her a way out of the "mafia world" and she said never, to then get this story I'm out...
TW- sexual and physical abuse that I was not prepared or ready for because it wasn’t listed in the beginning nor was it prevalent in the first two books.

Alek is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and his trauma is similar to Christian Grey. My fav character of the 3 books.
Alek and Anya’s story is beautiful! This book is such a page turner I hardly put it down! Definitely keeps you invested in the story, wanting more and wondering how it will end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ alek and anya had my heart from the start. their story was so powerful, i absolutely loved faye’s writing and her banter style. they had matching hearts and matching bruises. nikolai put them through so much and they still made it out together. sometimes “villains” can be your hero.
Anya and Alek. I enjoyed reading the third book of the Brutal Hunters. I loved the characters, plot and storyline. I loved all the twists, drama, suspense and everything else. I loved the hot chemistry too. Read it
Ok book. She is married to a mob monster and meets another down in basement. They start talking and play to get away. The story goes from there. Need to read to see what happens.
