So Not My Mr. Wright

Rate this book
Fake-dating my hunky professor was not supposed to be part of my story.

He’s older. A single dad. The last person in this town I should fall for…

How I wanted the start of my science doctorate program to

I’d finally study the brainI’d no longer be a puppet in my parents’ cosmetics company empireI’d date and get over my exThat was my vision. My plan. I journaled about it all summer. I vowed that for once, I’d become the heroine of my own fairytale. Those heartfelt scribblings didn’t get me far, though. Rather than steer my future into bold new territory, I actually drove my hot neighbor’s classic Cadillac into a cement barrier.

It was an accident, but Micah didn’t see it that way—and he made that clear to the cops.

To avoid jail, I agreed to help him out and play the part of his girlfriend while his family’s in town. That sounded harmless enough… until I arrived at my first neuroscience class and saw him standing at the front of the lecture wild, wavy brown hair, dreamy eyes, athletic body and all.

Now I’m stuck in a faux relationship with my professor. I spend my days getting butterflies during his office hours, swooning over his cooking abilities, and feeling protective of his adorable son.

Micah can’t be my prince charming. He’s over a decade older than me. He has major baggage. Plus, a relationship between us is strictly forbidden by school rules. I feel guilty riding in his car, let alone sipping merlot with him in his cozy home. When flirting leads to kisses, we both know the situation is dangerous.

I’m an A student, smart enough to hang with the other science geeks in my program. My head knows that this is wrong. My heart, however, hasn’t gotten the memo…

So Not My Mr. Wright is a sweet & clean age-gap romance that includes all the heart-glowy, feel-good moments of falling in love, without the steam. Expect rivalry-fueled banter, flirting that turns to forbidden love, and a happily-ever-after worthy of a princess and her horse-riding (or… vintage-car-driving) knight. Castle included!

I'm always up for a book featuring a single dad, but I have to admit, Micah didn't quite make it to my list of favorite single dads. He was okay, but not a standout character for me. Clare, on the other hand, was an absolute gem and quickly became a favorite. The chemistry between Micah and Clare was spot-on, and I really enjoyed their interactions.

Seb stole the show for me in every scene he was in; I adored his character.

While the story did get a bit over the top and stretched believability at times, it was still a cute and enjoyable read. It served as a perfect palette cleanser between more intense books.

This book is the epitome of a Hallmark-y book. And I’m not mad about it! It was a bit over the top and not exactly believable in certain parts (how the whole fake dating begins, pretty much everything involving the baby momma, and then letting a rando text your significant other? Yea idk about that) but it was super duper cute!

I thought Micah and Clare had great chemistry. 😉 I loved literally every scene with Seb! I absolutely loved his character. Honestly, this was just a really cute book that was easy to read and hard to put down!

If you’re looking for a book that gives you hallmark feels where it’s just happy and feel good vibes with no spice then this absolutely for you!

I received an arc for this book and all thoughts are my own.

A sweet & unexpected fake romance between two people who are more enemies than neighbors.

Clare has recently moved back to her hometown to finish school before going to work for the family business. Except she wants to change majors, doesn't want to work for the family cosmetic company, & doesn’t want to get back together with her ex-boyfriend whom her family loves.

Micah is a divorced single dad who serial-dates to fill the void in his life.
Sure, he’s got an amazing kid & a job as a professor at the university, but there's more to life, right?

After a miscommunication & an accident land both Clare & Micah at the local police station things start to get interesting. After Clare agrees to be Micah’s fake girlfriend for two weeks, things take a turn when they learn that Micah is a professor at the university. & Clare is in his class.

Clare & Micah have a great chemistry that is evident early on. While they might be faking this relationship, no one would know from looking at them.

Evie has a great writing style that constantly keeps me coming back for more. Her stories are easy to read, enjoyable & always include that happily ever after that I crave in a romance.

This was so freaking cute. I loved Clare and Micah and was so invested in their story from the very beginning. I flew through this book.

I loved seeing the growth in both of their characters so much and seeing how everything wrapped up was fantastic.

Seb was the cutest kid and I just want to wrap him in a bubble and protect him from everything.

This book is full of great tropes: fake dating, age-gap, forbidden romance, and I was so here for it. I feel like the age-gap tends to be a hard one to write, but this was so well-done.

This book wasn’t spicy, but it was filled with sweet, tender moments that still had me swooning.

I can say with confidence that I would definitely read more of Evie Sterling’s books, because this was wonderful.

Holy cuteness, this book! I'll do a blanket statement and say that I've yet to be disappointed by Evie Sterling. Her stories are well developed, well written, and highly enjoyable.

Micah and Clare are great characters in their own right that only get better once you've put them together.

An age gap romance like this one is new for me. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it, but these two characters made it work where it was not weird and it did not feel forced.

We got to see how each character was able to grow and adjust throughout the story as well as address some traumatic issues from their past. I'm a big fan of when couples communicate in books and this was definitely a big selling point for me in this one!

If you are looking for a sweet romance with some cringe moments and cute banter, this is for you!

Overall: highly recommend!

So Not My Mr. Wright is the fourth Evie Sterling book I've read. Although I generally prefer a little more spice in my romance stories, I love Evie's writing so much that I don't even notice the books are closed-door romances. This story is a super sweet, heartwarming, age-gap, fake dating romance.

After a breakup, Clare moves back to her hometown to pursue her doctorate. She has always done what her parents expected of her, but now she is trying to live on her terms. Micah is a single father to his son Sebastian and is a professor. After his ex-wife left him and their son, he stopped believing in love. Things get interesting for Clare and Micah when an accident leads to a fake dating agreement.

I loved Clare and Micah together. They had such great chemistry and were so relatable. Clare and Micah made each other happy, and being together made them want to be better people. From the outside looking in, their relationship was questionable to some. Clare and Micah dealt with a lot of negativity from loved ones, and people had misconceptions about their relationship. They are able to navigate the complications, address past issues, grow as individuals, and ultimately live happily ever after.

So Not My Mr. Wright has well-developed characters, a wonderfully written plot with so much depth, some drama that keeps you guessing until the end, funny moments, and a sweet forbidden love story with a well-deserved happy ending.

Thanks to Evie Sterling and Hayling Book Storm Master ARC Team for the e-ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book had a lot of things happening. It started with angst between the MCs after she accidentally wrecks his car. In order to "fix" things between them, they enter into a fake dating scenario that is made a lot more complicated when they figure out that he is her professor. Clare is an heiress to a makeup company and is trying to start her life for herself but keeps getting sucked back in to what her family wants. Micah is super bitter after his ex-wife left him and his son many years ago. He typically dates around to fill his void things change the more time he spends with Clare. They get involved with fake dating at night while attending class during the day. Being close to each other and pretending to be a couple caused sparks to fly between the two and it became clear that they wanted to be together. Things get super tricky once other people get involved and people start to find out about their situation. It was sad to see things get in the way of their romance but their HEA in the end was so sweet. I definitely loved how they came together but also got to be the best versions of themselves in the end.

Once thing I didn't care for was the assumptions and negativity that the characters made, especially the MMC. He had such negative feelings toward younger people and women in general. I understood that he struggled with his ex-wife but it just came across very harsh.

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

Clare is a hot mess! Coming off a rough break up, while heading into the start of her doctorate journey, while hiding truths from her family, she accidentally steals a car and ends up wrecking it while trying to save a cat. Only to find out that the car she stole belongs to her new grumpy neighbour (Micah), who, in exchange for not pressing charges, asks her to be his fake girlfriend to trick his ex-sister-in-law, and then to find out he's also one of her professors!

A truly tricky situation for them both, especially when they end up really clicking and getting all the feels, but one which ends up in a perfectly sweet HEA.

I really enjoyed this story, and loved Evie Sterling's writing. Sebastian was super cute and added a whole other level of intensity to the story. I loved his character, and his interactions with Clare.

This was a really cute, quick read!

Synopsis: Clare was all set to go to school so that she could be a chemist at her parents cosmetic company. She was even dating the perfect guy, according to her parents that is. But all of this changes when her boyfriend dumps her two weeks before they were supposed to move in together. Now, Clare has moved back to her hometown and changed graduate studies without telling her parents. With an already hectic start to her new life, Clare ends up crashing her neighbor's car. The only way to avoid charges for destroying his beautiful antique car, is to pretend to be his girlfriend for the next two weeks. Of course, she only agreed to this before she knew he was going to be her professor. But once they find out about how their paths are going to cross on campus it’s too late to go back.

These two characters had incredible chemistry right off the bat. I loved how even though they had chemistry from the beginning, that they didn’t get romantically involved (for real) right away. The slow burn was perfect because it gave them time to grow individually. Clare had a lot of growing up to do when it came to not letting her parents control her path in life. Even though she was making new decisions for herself, she was living a double life because for most of the book she hadn’t even told her parents about switching her studies and not wanting to work at their cosmetics company. She needed to learn to stand up for herself. Meanwhile Micah still had a lot to sort through when it came to his divorce and his son Seb, who I absolutely loved!

I enjoyed this book! I read it in one sitting! The romance moved very quickly timeline-wise but the pacing was super well done. I didn't mind it because it FELT like it had been months (when the romance takes place over 2 weeks). It was a clean romance but it doesn't lack tension! I thought it would get steamy there for a bit but appreciated that it didn't. I sometimes have problems with reading contemporary romance due to the problems often being trivial and just about communication. This book was not that AT ALL. There were so many things keeping them apart and I really felt the tension and anxiety as the characters did. Micah had so much more to lose as well! My only irk with this book was that the slimy no-good meddlesome sexual harasser and teacher got a happy ending as well. I wished she went to jail or I don't know, was lonely forever. I hated her. Anyway.....

What this book is about:

Clare is a rich pretty girl with a brain. Theoretically, she has it all: money, education, and parents who want to give her a plush job at their company. But Clare has been living for them and not herself. She's never been heard by her family. Her act of rebellion? Studying what she wants instead of going down the path her parents want for her?

Micah is a handsome, divorced, player, and professor who wants what's best for his child, Seb. Seb has high-functioning Autism and Micah and him have created an environment for Seb to thrive. Only when Micah's ex, Seb's mother, sends her sister to do recon and potentially send Seb away Micah must do everything he can to ensure Seb stays where he belongs.

When Micah is faced with losing his son, he must show Seb's aunt that he's moved on from his player ways and that Seb is happy where he is.
When Clare is faced with a felony or fake dating her neighbor? She chooses her neighbor. Only come Monday, she find out her hot neighbor is her professor.....

4,5 rounded to 5

This is the second book I’ve read by Evie Sterling and I have to say I really enjoy her writing. Her stories are well written and engaging, her characters very likable and easy to empathize with.

This book is an age gap, fake dating, enemies to lovers romance. The age gap doesn’t feel weird or the fake dating scheme forced, as I initially was a bit afraid of and the enemies part is very quickly resolved, so that Clare and Micah can appreciate one another and we literally see them fall in love.

Micah’s son Sebastian plays a major role in this development because I think after a very rocky start they visibly soften toward each other when they see the other one interact with Sebastian and I loved these scenes. I don’t always like children or young teens in books because sometimes they are used to make the story more funny or heartwarming while these kids don’t seem authentic at all and actually spoil the reading experience for me. Sebastian is gladly a very well written character with high functioning autism who definitely has his quirks, but is first and foremost a very sweet, observing, honest and very likable 12 year old boy for whom not only his father but also Clare cares deeply.

Which is fortunate because otherwise the two of them wouldn’t stand a chance since there are so many obstacles thrown their way adding a lot of drama to their already complicated (fake) relationship.

Even though the chemistry and connection between Micah and Clare was palpable, it felt a bit quick to think about major changes to explore their relationship considering they were only fake dating for about two weeks. But I guess since I’m also not a fan of insta love situations I might just not be romantic enough to appreciate such drastic actions for “the one”.
What I did appreciate were the redemption arcs of both characters. Clare finally learns to stand up for herself and even though her family kind of represents a stereotype, her parents reaction did actually surprise me and I really liked how this was resolved without being totally unrealistic.

Micah’s character growth was even more satisfying, because I had a few issues with how he handled dating in the past, especially considering he had a preteen at home, and how he assumed the worst about his ex-sister-in-law and I loved reading about how he - for the first time, challenged by Clare and also his ex-wife - starts to doubt his past actions and decides to change how he handles things.

There is only one thing I really didn’t like and that is Clare’s friend Jess. She is married, expecting her second child and is repeatedly commenting on “Micah’s hotness”, even making fun about her own husband’s physique in comparison to professional athletes and people like that just give me the ick…
I don’t like it when people are objectified, no matter if male or female, but this almost always is the case in romances to a certain degree. Physical appearance is - sadly - seemingly a major selling point in romances and I just try to not focus on that if the emotional connection is done well. But what Jess does in this book is something most women would be furious about if coming from a married guy. - Ogling other women, making fun of the aging body of his wife, openly wishing his wife would look more like a certain other woman.. urgh. I know this is a fictional character, but I seriously hate this behavior being acceptable when coming from women, but despicable if coming from a man. It’s disgusting either way (you should see my disgusted face while typing her quotes…) and I hope Clare finds another friend.

“Georgeous…” Jess says with a sigh. “I wish Keegan looked like that in shorts.”
“[...] Plus, that man had the tush of a young stud. Like the pro football players in their tights. Mm-mm! Keegan thinks I watch the games because I’m a legit fan. Uh-uh! I’m a fan of those backsides…”

I don’t want to judge the book too harshly because of this extremely unlikable woman because one she has gladly only very few scenes in the book and second Clare (and Micah) actually seem to be aware of Jess’s statements being kind of misguided and inappropiate, at least to a certain extent…

“You’re a good listener. You didn’t tell me to run out and get a tattoo or stay out after curfew.” “Who is this friend of yours? She sounds like trouble.”

So except for Jess I really enjoyed the book and the sweet and genuine characters Sebastian, Micah, Clare and Nadine, the appearance of a sort of stray cat who actually set the whole scheme in motion. It has everything you could wish for in a sweet and clean romance - chemistry, connection, humor, a whole lot of drama, family bonds and lessons learned and of course a happy ending.

* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.

This book was a very solid and sweet romance with some taboo elements. It is completely clean and wholesome. Evie Sterling is a master at creating sweet clean romances and this book is no exception. It is funny, authentic, gratifying, and very easy to read. The shorter nature of this book made it fly by easily.

For the most part, their 16-year age gap shockingly didn't bother me that much. That said, when they were confronted with the consequences of their choices, the age gap and their professor-student relationship did feel a bit uncomfortable.

This book has amazing and adorable autistic representation through Micah's son. Sebastian is on the high-functioning end of the spectrum but never once does the book push away his autistic traits. Micah always wants to do his best for his son and make him as comfortable and accommodating as he can. It also portrays how people can have very different reactions to a child with autism and how that can lead to some very complicated and murky relationships. Having a brutally honest autistic character like Sebastian also propelled the story quite well. I loved this positive and realistic but not forceful example of autistic rep.

They hit their stride as a fake couple almost seamlessly. I loved seeing them play house together and just, fit. They naturally played well into each other's lives and stories. Especially with Sebastian in the mix, they got along quite well.

I feel like their story didn't hit quite the way I wanted it to because the repercussions were shockingly minimal in the long run. They didn't have to struggle with the taboo of their relationship for all that long at all. It was just boom, it's all okay, happily ever after. There was a lot of rising action and conflict with no crescendo.

Overall if you are looking for a cute and sweet age-gap romance book with a cute kid, this is the book for you. I would've loved a bit more from the conflict inherent in the story. Even so, the characters and funny moments easily make up for it

Sweet Romance

This is a Closed Door Clean Romance.

I just have to say I loved this sweet romance. Man, I did not know I was going to have so many emotions with this book and be in tears in some of it, but I did.

Clare is the FMC and she's moving into a small place after being dumped by her boyfriend right before they are supposed to move into a place together. While at her new place, she isn't paying attention and runs into a man and hits him. The man is Micah. Micah is the MMC and is not happy about being ran into and complains about people on the phone all the time and lectures her.

Later, while talking to the Landlord, she notices a cat zoom by and the Landlord let's know that the previous tenant must have left the cat, whose name is Sophia, and that she'll take her to the shelter. Clare says she'll take her but doesn't have a car and the Landlord tells her to use hers. Sophia ends up taking off and Clare runs to get her but Sophia is fast. So she sees a car with keys in and takes off with it. Clare finds the cat but someone tells her the car has rolled down the hill and crashed. Next thing she knows, she's being taken to jail for theft. While at the police station, none other than Micah comes in angry. While there, Micah gets a message that his ex's sister is coming for a visit. She's been bugging him about settling down and also that boarding school would be good for Micah's son Sebastian. Sebastian has autism and Micah knows he thrives on structure and won't like boarding school. Micah comes up with an arrangement with Clare to fake date him. Clare agrees.

After they spend an evening faking it, they both seem to enjoy each others company and Seb takes really well to Clare which is unusual.

But when Clare goes back to school and sees that Micah is her teacher, Mr. Wright, she realizes this might not work. Micah still needs her to do this though because his ex's sister has met her. Will Micah and Clare find more together than faking it? You need to read to find out. Such an amazing book. Read it. Thank you Evie Sterling for this book.

This is such a sweet, heartwarming, clean romance that plays out like a fairytale! You’ve got the villain, tons of conflict, but also a happily ever after!

I think the son of the MC is cute.

I find the relationship between the characters gross. Micha reads like a predator. He coerces a young woman to be his “girlfriend” because she accidentally took his car and crashed it even though she was willing to pay for the damages. (If the car is so precious, why would you leave car keys in the unlocked car? — I’m sorry, but I cannot get over this point). Then it turns out that he is the young woman’s professor. The age between him in her is grater than the age between her and his son.

Clare is supposed to be smart, but she does not act smart. She is also too perfect: beautiful, intelligent, and yet somehow has absolutely no confidence in herself. I would get this if she was a late bloomer, but no. She comes from a super wealthy family, was a model, a cheerleader and a valedictorian, finished university and now is going for a doctorate. Yet, somehow, when her boyfriend cheats on her she crumbles like a cracker? Then she’s falling for Micha — why? Just because he’s attractive? He did not treat her well at all and acts more like a 20 year-old than a mature adult. Lots of gross grooming vibes in this book, too.

Of course there is a vampy age-appropriate woman who wants Micha. (I’m so tired of women putting down other successful women and making them seem like desperate vamps.) However, Micha cannot have a mature relationship with an age-appropriate woman. He lusts after his student who is, I think, 16 years younger than him.

There is nothing sweet about this romance. For this book to be sweet, Micha needs to be slightly older than Clare, act like an adult, and not be her professor. Clare also needs to have a realistic flaw.

The moment the relationship started to heat up, I got grossed out and could not finish this book.

'How can it be that we're in a busy lobby, and yet at this moment, I feel as though we're the only two people in the world?'

This swoon worthy story was heart warming and is the perfect cozy read for this rainy season! I laughed, cried, laughed a bit more and felt all the emotional rollercoasters of both the MC's, Micah and Clare. Evie's writing was so good, it even made my heart ache a little, the romance was on point and I melted reading this story.

Clare, a 27 year old tries to break free of the cage of a perfect path chosen by her wealthy parents.
She yearns to be heard and seen for the person she actually is behind the façade of a beautiful model set to join her parent's business.

She's dumped by her boyfriend, and gets a fresh start - Joins the PhD program for neuroscience, only to accidentally crash her hot neighbour/ professor's car. Micah doesn't see it as an accident but wouldn't press charges only if she agrees to fake date him while his family is in town.

She agrees to fake date Micah, the single dad with the sweetest kid-the hot professor-the football coach-the incredibly easy to love-the one who actually understands her! How is she supposed to concentrate sitting in his classroom, while she spends most evenings pretending to be his girlfriend!?

I've never been one for the age gap trope, but oh my gosh, I loved Micah! Being about the same age as Clare, I felt Micah was annoying in the beginning but soon got the puppy eyes for him just like Clare!

"We both know that we both feel it. The question is, what are we going to do about it?"

You'll love this book if you like -
-Swoon worthy MCs
-Fake Dating
-Age Gap Romance
-Professor - Student
-A bit of Enemies to Lovers
-Single Dad
-Smart FMC
-Sporty MMC

I enjoyed this romance. It might be a little problematic for some readers because it is an age-gap, professor/college student story. I thought that the book dealt with it pretty well. It’s a relationship that began outside of the class with neither knowing of the school relationship. Clare and Micah were new neighbours and a misunderstanding left her owing him and agreeing to pretend to be his girlfriend to protect his autistic son from an attempt by family to send him to boarding school. Needless to say, it got pretty complicated once Clare and Micah discovered that she was a student in his class. This compounded as they developed feelings for each other. “My inner sense of right and wrong has been a pendulum ever since he first kissed me. Some moments, I feel so wrong about what’s happening between us. Other moments, it feels like the most right thing in the world.” The romance had significant stakes attached to it. Definitely some angst and drama. “‘It sounds like you both tried to put the brakes on, but there was too much momentum, and you couldn’t. You two are like a runaway train…’” The actual romance was swoony and the relationship that Clare developed with Micah’s son was so lovely. “I can actually feel myself getting attached. It’s not even slow motion, either. It’s a sudden whoosh of desire to nurture and protect this kid.” The characters were engaging. There was additional story around family on both sides, particularly Clare’s parents and their expectations for her. I did find it strange that everyone called Micah ‘Mr. Wright’ when he had a PhD. Generally people with a PhD are addressed as ‘Dr’. This is a closed door romance with mild innuendo and no harsh language.

Evie’s writing style is just so easy to catch up, so flowly and doesn’t feel forced at all. Her books are always so comforting and fun to read, literally stress-free. And the best part is that her books don’t really much spice- which makes it suitable to readers of all age groups!

This story was about Clare and Micah. It had enemies to lovers, age gap, professor-student and much more to it. Although, I’m not a huge fan of fake dating, this book has converted me. The fake dating part was actually so much fun to read! It also has myster

So basically, Micah and Clare meet each other in unfortunate circumstances. Micah doesn’t have the greatest impression of Clare when they first meet but as they spend time together, he learns more about her and his impression of her changes over time. Their relationship starts from being enemies which later changes to lovers. I really adored Sebastian ( Micah’s son ) and Clare’s friendship! Sebastian has ASD ( Autism Spectrum Disorder ), Evie did an amazing job writing his character so well and giving us more awareness on ASD.

Clare and Micah’s chemistry was top notch! I loved watching their relationship development throughout the story. Their moments together was just so cute and fun and had me rooting for them!

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I would recommend this book to basically anyone!

Clare has always followed what her family expect of her, but she wants to follow dreams. However her parents have other plans wanting her to work for the family cosmetic company. Now back in her hometown to finish her doctorate, can she finally tell her parents or will she give in and do as they say. Micah loves being a professor and his son Sebastian and that's the only important things on his life. His ex walked away from them both, although it was the right thing she still likes to try and interfering with her sister on how to help Sebastian who has autism. But he definitely doesn't need either of their help. When a stranger hits him in the throat while on his run and then his car is stolen and smashed into a wall. His life is just more and more complicated. Clare can't believe how complicated her life is and now she might face a police record for a simple misunderstanding. This is a funny story but at the same time it explains how coping with autism impacts daily lifes. The main characters each have their own issues which have caused them both to be weary of relationships. Can they overcome their unusual meetings and overcome the differences they have. I loved this story and how Sebeastian gelled so easily with Clare.

I received a digital ARC of this book. Evie Sterling is great at writing romance and this one did not disappoint. Clare comes from a family with a beauty company empire and she is expected to work there. But she doesn’t want to, she’s interested in neuroscience. So she changes her doctorate program focus without telling them. She’s moving into her own place, even if it is a little run down and not the mansion she grew up in. Clare has a small run in with a guy running and he’s super rude. Her landlord tells her to steer clear because he’s a heartbreaker. When Clare takes what she thinks is her landlord’s car later that day and it rolls down the hill and crashes, she soon finds out it belongs to the guy she ran into earlier. When she offers to pay for the damages, he makes a different deal instead, to be his fake girlfriend while his ex sister-in-law is in town. Fine. But when she shows up to her first class on Monday and he’s the professor….she decides there’s no way she can go through with it. This book takes you on quite the roller coaster as Clare and Professor Wright become attracted to each other. Throw in a suspicious jealous woman professor and you’ve got quite the drama. Will they make it the 2 weeks being convincing enough? Can they ignore the real feelings? You’ll have to read to find out!

When neuroscience student Clare accidentally steals and crashes her intense neighbor's vintage Cadillac, she agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend to avoid jail time. Micah needs to prove to his ex's meddling sister that he's stable enough to parent his autistic son, Seb. Clare doesn't realize until the ruse has started that Micah is her professor - and with their chemistry off the charts, it's too late to back out now.

I'll admit it - this was the first Evie Sterling book I've read where I wasn't immediately convinced the main characters were right for each other. But I got there in the end!

Maybe it's because I do think that fake dating ... and real dating ... your professor is not a good idea, IRL. So I was a bit skeptical on the basic premise. But I got on board as soon as Clare met Micah's son, Seb. These two were absolutely so sweet together.

Micah comes across very judgey at first, but just like me he softened when he saw Clare and Seb bond. I appreciated his love for his son and the lengths he'd go to protect him. I also enjoyed Clare's growth arc as she eventually figured out how to declare her independence for the life her parents laid out for her. Her parents drove me CRAZY!

As always, Sterling involves an adorable animal that plays a significant role in the inciting incident. Who doesn't love a cuddly cat?

The stakes of this book felt quite high due to the potential fallout of a professor/student relationship, and the low made the HEA even more earned. Things worked out with the minor characters in an emotionally satisfying way, although I don't really believe all these folks would be so reasonable in the real world.

Perfect for anyone who likes
💫Clean romance
💫Fake relationship
💫Age gap
💫Single dad
💫Enemies to loves

Thank you so much to Evie Sterling and haylingbookstorm for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review💖

This was a cute fake-dating, closed door romance told from dual pov.

Clare just moved into a new neighborhood after getting dumped. She is about to start a doctorate program after going against the career her parent’s had planned for her. After a big miscommunication between her and her landlord, she ends up crashing her *hot* neighbors classic car. In order to avoid going to jail, she agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend while his naggy ex-sister-in-law is in town.

Micah, the neighbor, is a single dad and a science professor at the university. He’s also more than a decade older than Clare. However, he’ll do just about anything to get his annoying ex-sister-in-law off his back.

On the first day of school, though, they realize they may have made a mistake. Clare walks into one of her classes and realizes that Professor Wright’s first name is Micah👀

This book was a fun read and I enjoyed it :) the author does such a good job of always making her characters relatable and lovable! Clare and Jess’s friendship is my favorite, it is so genuine and fun, I loved reading about them!

If you like fake-dating, single dad, age-gap, professor-student, closed door romance then definitely add this one to your tbr 💖💖

So Not Mr. Wright by Evie Sterling is an exciting fake dating novel that grips you from the start to the end.

** I would like to express my thanks to ☆ Evie Sterling ☆ & ☆ haylingbookstorm ☆ for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review **

This book had a lot. It had drama, it had adventure, it had cute moments and not so cute moments. I loved every bit of it! The author really made the characters with extensive depth, really laying on thick that first impressions aren’t everything. I lived for the interactions between the characters, and I loved the relationship between Clare and Micah’s son. I think the author also really showed well the courage it takes for you to get out of a situation that isn’t for you.

I read a previous novel by Evie Sterling, so I was expecting similar writing, but let me tell you, I think the author really did a great job at writing, the writing was more deep and fleshed out. I felt that every detail had a point, and it was such a cute read. I legit read it in a day. I also think that the author wrapped up the dating the Professor and student situation quite nicely, that I didn’t really feel it lacking at all.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a nice fake dating, age-gap novel.

This was an exciting and entertaining love story. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes EVER!!! Micah and Clare’s love story was also a grumpy/ sunshine slow burn as well which I also am a sucker for. I read this is one sitting as it immediately sucks you in and doesn’t let you go. I was rooting for them thru everything they faced. Their love was sweet and genuine. They were so likable as characters. The depth they had was amazing. Also, the character building the secondary characters had made this very wholesome in the end. I loved the way everything turned out when it could’ve not been wrapped up so neatly. The author did a wonderful job of not leaving any loose ends and no questions unanswered and I just love when that happens!!! Also, wanted to add, as a parent with a level 1-high functioning autistic child, seeing Micah stand up for his son, even to the child’s own mother and the way everything was represented in such an endearing way, warmed my heart. @eviesterling.cleanromance & @haylingbookstorm thank you so much for the opportunity to read this! I definitely recommend to every romance reader that’s a fan of these tropes #slowburn #fakedating #forcedproximity #agegap #singledad #teacher/student #grumpysunshine

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Sterling has a way of endearing readers to her characters. This book was no different. Clare Hartwell captured my heart. Ya'll, we have a kid in this one. If you have read any of my reviews, you know I am a sucker for a good kid. Sebastian did it for me. Sebastian and his dad Micah Wright gave me all of the unexpected feels.

Clare had a lot going on. Though Clare was young, she was very mature and knew what she wanted. Was she scared? Yes, but she was ready and willing to do what she needed to do for her life. For Clare that meant changing her course of study. Clare moved back into town to attend New Hampshire University. Micah needs someone to pose as his long-term girlfriend while his sister-in-law is visiting. Clare owes Micah. I am not going to spoil the why, but readers will not believe it until you read it. Clare agrees to stay out of trouble until she finds out the Micah is her professor.

I loved how the relationship developed between all of the characters. This book was a slam dunk for me. Readers will love this sweet romance that will capture your heart from the beginning. I just really enjoy this author. I hope this review helps other readers to read a book from this author. Readers never know what to expect. Just sit back and enjoy.

💕ARC REVIEW💕

Sometimes the unexpected love, is the one that matters the most.

Clare has moved back to her hometown, and change college majors. Her family is so excited to have her back closer to them, for her to be working on her degree to get back to the family business and to get her back with her ex. But Clare wants none of that.

Micah is a divorced single dad, who is a serial dater.

As Clare is moving into her new rental, she accidentally bumps into ‘Hotty McRed-shirt’ (Micah). After a miscommunication about her landlords car, Clare borrows the wrong one, and it ends up rolling down the hill, landing her in jail. When Micah is the one to come in to press charges, he gives her the option, he presses charges, or she pretends to be his girlfriend for two weeks while his ex-sister-in-law is in town. But little does Clare know, Micah is ALSO her professor.

After fake dating for a bit, true feelings start happening. But things really take a turn when one of the other professors finds out.

Clare & Micah have amazing chemistry from the start. The writing style was perfect and made for such a quick read.

Tropes:
* Enemies to lovers/rivals
* Meddling friend/family
* Professor-student
* Age gap
* Fake relationship
* MMC sporty/coach
* FMC smart, perfectionist

So Not My Mr. Wright, by Evie Sterling, is ridiculously cute! It is a sweet, closed door romance and is easily a 5 Star read.

The relationship between Micah and Clare starts off with two different collisions of sorts, and they “hate” each other. After coming to an understanding and entering into an unexpected fake dating arrangement, they start spending time together and sparks fly.

The sexual tension and chemistry were so steamy and absolutely perfect. There were so many tender moments between Micah and Clare, as they talked about everything big and small, which really confirms age is nothing but a number! Together and individually, they grow and tackle struggles from their pasts that are impacting their present.

There is autism representation, as we meet Micah's son, Sebastien. Seb is a Dungeons and Dragons and Connect 4 playing, geocaching, dinosaur loving, sweet kid. He doesn't make connections easily, and it was so sweet to see how Clare and him bonded so easily.

I devoured this book and read it in one sitting. Evie's writing style is so flowy and effortless. Nothing felt forced or rushed. I would easily recommend this book to pretty much anyone.

Tropes
Fake Relationship (sort of)
Age Gap (16yrs)
Single Dad
Professor/Student
Autism Representation
