I think the problem with this book is that the author tries to do too much. I like the outline of this book, but what fills in the outline is too superficial and fannish to be of real value. Perhaps the subject is too big for a one volume history. The book reads pleasantly and it is well illustrated. The result is a book that is more fun than useful.

Excellent reference book on Comic Book history. Nice year by year layout from the early beginnings of comics at the turn of the 20th century through the late 1980s. Very well written and researched. Very recommended

Une histoire du comic book en trois entrées, par dates (année par année de 1933 à 1989 !), par éditeurs et par genres... Le tout en moins de 200 pages très denses en information. Et surtout des centaines d'illustrations de couvertures merveilleusement kitsch... Indispensable !
