I think this story has a lot of potential!
I read the arc version so there are still some little details that need fixing but this book was full of adventure.
Soleil and Sky’s friendship is so wholesome!

If you like mythology, this is a great read for you! It’s packed with different myths and the author does a great job of connecting them all.
It’s a YA fantasy story set in the future that has themes of found family and quests.

It reminded me of Percy Jackson, def try this out if you like that series!

This is a really fun read for people who are fans of Greek and Norse mythology. I’m a little bit of a Greek Mythology-fantast myself, so I was really intrigued to get the chance to arc-read this book.

This is a great book for people in love with the Riordan-verse and the Percy Jackson series, and this book reminded me so much of that series that I kinda got nostalgic. Now, that might make it seem like this book was a copy, but it definitely was not! This was a whole concept of its own, with a similiar basic idea.

There were some parts of this book where it got a little too repetitive, but I feel like I could overlook that due to the fact that this only is the author's first published novel.

With that said, this was a great book and I’m looking forward to reading the sequels ☺️

Thank you to the author for reaching out to me about this book 🫶

I honestly really enjoyed this! It was my first book with Greek/norse mythology but I think it was a great introduction to the area 😁

Honestly I was captivated pretty early on as it’s quite fast paced and jumped straight into the adventure which I really loved.

I definitely think this has set up the series really well and I can see a lot of potential here! Honestly, I’m not fully invested in the characters yet but I definitely see them growing on me more and more 😇

Personally the futuristic vibe is something I don’t tend to read much of. I also found this was very YA which I can sometimes struggle with. But if u like either of those things I would definitely recommend this! Obviously this is more about my personal preference then the book itself 🙂

I liked this book. Different from my normal read but liked it nonetheless. Slow going at first but picks up. It’s kind of a fantasy meets sci-fi. I would definitely recommend.

I am so grateful to the author for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! You can tell there was a lot of time spent researching the various mythological lore. I felt like this book could be described as a futuristic Percy Jackson. I would suggest it for middle school to YA readers who enjoy adventure, strong mythological storyline and SciFi/Dystopian vibes.

The Lost Legend follows the story of Soleil, a young girl and her friends as they travel to Europe for a school trip. Along the way, the group is met with various challenges and face several mythological foes while Soleil is working to discover the "lost legend" and how her lineage fits into it. The protagonist, Selene, seems to also be connected but refuses to participate in the quests. Soleil leans on her friends and her growing abilities to help keep them all safe from a ancient being, who seems hell bent on killing Soleil within the next 5 years.

The story is set several hundreds of years in the future and the author pulls in elements like flying cars and hologram devices. I would have enjoyed more world building for the time period, to help me visualize this new world Soleil was living in. I did feel like the character's could have used stronger arcs as well. We get glimpses of development but overall it seems their growth will occur in future installments to the series.

While I enjoyed the idea of this book, I really struggled to work my way through it. I felt the dialogue was very unnatural - almost scripted - vs how a normal highschooler or young adult would speak to each other. It made it incredibly difficult for me to get engrossed into the story and I had to really push myself to complete it. I would have also preferred less descriptors for non-value add items and more descriptors for larger, world building/plot forming things.

Overall, I rated this book 2 stars. I really believe the author has a fantastic idea and basic storyline to build on. I hope to see the writing style mature as the series continues.

This YA mix of mythology and futuristic fantasy was reminiscent of Percy Jackson meets the Jetsons. It was slow to start. Give it a little bit of time and things will start picking up! The main character, high schooler Soleil (Sol) starts out with no memory. There is some pretty good banter and character development throughout. The end wasn’t a cliffhanger but the reader is definitely still left with questions that hopefully are answered in the second book. All in all, I give this 3.75 stars!

This review was given in exchange for an ARC.
Let me start off by stating that I had received the first ARC, started it, and was immediately drawn in. But due to timing and life issues had to stop. Which turned out to be a good thing because Franco changed a lot of stuff, and then released a new ARC.
I wanted to point this out because the second ARC was much better. Meaning the actual story should be great.
Now lets talk about the book. I found the writing to be written in a “Young Adult” fashion. Which worked perfectly with the magical, fantasy style the book seemed to go for. And for anyone looking for a more Y.A. feeling for a read.
I did really like the relationships that were built in the book. Though at some points I did feel like some of relationships and details were forced. Which is very easy to do when creating the first book in a series. Oops did you not know its was going to be a series? Well it is.
I thought the character development was interesting. The book as a whole started off slow, but as it continued the plot and characters gained a lot of build up. The world building also had a lot of design which draw the reader in.
All in all, I thought the book was pretty good and gave it a 5/10 rating. If your looking to branch out from your normal. Or have a young reader that is looking for something interesting. Then I suggest grabbing a copy of “The Lost Legend” once it is released.

If you are a fan of mythology and enjoy reading action adventure YA novels, then please do yourself a favor and give this book a shot.

As weird as this might sound, it sort of reminded me of a Percy Jackson type feel in a Jetsons world.

Add a little bit of difficulty with the pacing especially in the first quarter of the book it felt a little bit slow for me but it definitely picked up the action sequences especially the fight scenes were extremely well executed and well written.

Soleil and Sky's friendship is probably my favorite part of the book. We all need a Sky in our life.

I personally am not a big fan of reviews that give away too much information about the story so I will leave it at yes I recommend did you read this book and be patient through the first hundred Pages it really is worth it in the end.

3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed reading this book. I love that it references Greek and Norse mythology. Especially since they are two of my favourites!

If you like movies or books that give you Percy Jackson vibes but set in the future then you will definitely like this book. It has some great characters, fun humour, powers, intense moments and lots of gods.

It was a fun read and I am definitely interested in reading more of this series.

3⭐️ overall I enjoyed the book and what the author Aseret was trying to do, however for me it was just to YA. I did enjoy the mythological story line as well as the underlying plot. I tried to go into the read opened minded even though I don’t normally read YA, but for me that’s where I struggled. Recommend reading for individuals who enjoy those type of books.

This book was great! It was packed with action from the very beginning. All the twists kept my jaw on the floor. The authors imagination is so intriguing. Especially learning about soleils world and the “future stuff.” The details she uses are amazing. The mythology stuff she uses are good, she knows how to explain and you not get lost with what youre reading i definitely recommend!

This was a fun YA read. Greek & Norse Mythology lovers gather here. Our girl Soleil needs to figure out who she is after an encounter at the museum leaves her with more questions than ever before. How is she connected to these artifacts and how can she suddenly read ancient Greek? Also, how will these fog that's been following her her whole life come into play?
Lots of action from the start. Similar to Percy Jackson but with a whole futuristic world they're living in with flying cars and holographics. It even seems their food comes from almost nothing. They order from a screen and poof there it is coming from some table or wall space lol.
There's plenty of drama between Sol and Selene. You want to smack Selene but she's redeemable and even sometimes likeable. Like some others, Sol herself can be a bit childish but hey, that's what she is. These kids are in highschool and it certainly reads that way with their banter and actions/reactions. And of course we can't forget about our boy Sky 😍Can't wait to see what comes from all these characters.
I can see where some phrases have a hard time translating to English but I got through them just fine. There were also some editing mistakes but it did not deter from the story. I do wish there was more world building but with this being the authors first book, I think we will certainly get it with the future books to come.
Although there is a second book to come and plenty of answers yet to uncover, I feel you can end this one happy and sigh that there wasn't some insane cliffhanger. In the next book they're off to college. Goodbye Highschool 😲
Now go get reading and judge for yourself 😁

Aseret Franco delivers a captivating fantasy full of ancient magic, buried truths, and a romance that simmers beneath the surface. The Lost Legend pulled me in with its lush worldbuilding and intriguing premise—a lost artifact, a dangerous mission, and two characters with secrets of their own.

The heroine is fierce, flawed, and easy to root for, and the love interest? Mysterious, brooding, and maddening in the best way. Their dynamic had me hooked. While the pacing slowed a bit in the middle, the ending made up for it with twists I didn’t see coming.

A solid start to what feels like an epic series—if you love fantasy with slow-burn romance, rich mythology, and a touch of danger, this one’s worth picking up.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I must be in the minority, but I did not enjoy this book. The book starts really slow, and when the action finally did pick up, there were so many times where I was just forcing myself to finish. While I did enjoy Soleil’s adventure and liked reading her uncover different aspects of her past, the writing was lacking and only added to my displeasure with this book. I could see how others might enjoy this book, but it just wasn’t for me.

I received an e-copy of this book when the author reached out to me on TikTok. Thank you for this opportunity!

I give this book a solid 3 🌟
It is ideal for young adults who love Greek and Norse mythology, fantasy (Percy Jackson vibe) and a bit of sci- fi.

-

This first book, The Lost Legend, is about how Soleil's destiny becomes intertwined with the enigmatic sun goddess, Frao Sunne. As she embarks on a quest to unravel the mysteries of Frao Sunne's past, Soleil discovers that the world's fate rests upon her understanding of this ancient deity.

-

The story is very adventurous and actually gave me dungeon and dragons campaign vibes; The friend group, going on quests to retrieve important information while battling creatures/gods in the process.
The entire concept of the book, its storyline, is really amazing.

I want to mention, just like the author told me before reading, that this english version is not perfect. The book was originally written in Spanish and the author did her best to translate it to english and maintain the same writing style. So, the book does contain a few grammatical errors and repetitive text but it's not too bothersome.

I really love the action in this book, almost never a dull moment. I love how Soleil is such a strong character who tries to do her best in protecting everything around her, even her hateful sister Selene. I love the educational scenes about the myths, the gods. I love the descriptive parts of the locations/surroundings. I really liked chapter 28 where we finally get to know the bigger part of Soleil's story.

I did have some struggles with reading this story (spoilers);
Eventho it had a catchy start, it became kinda monotonous and long-winded. I am referring to how Soleil is trying to find more information about her past but each time she gets closer to something, she barely gets any information. This was a bit frustrating to witness.
The creatures she meets on the way always say the same things like "do you not remember it", etc... It felt too repetitive with Skoll and just in general, finding and battling an enemy each time they follow a clue. So that kinda made it hard at times to keep the focus to read. The information only really develops starting from chapter 22 with the biggest part on chapter 28 (and this out of 30 chapters).

Overall I still think it is a good read. I enjoyed the story as a 26 yo but I would mainly recommend it to younger kids. I am curious on what is to follow next in this Soleil McCarthy series.

Thankyou Aseret Franco for this book!

Wow! That opening was quite the teaser, had me on the edge of my seat.

The story and writing is giving me late 90’s early 2000’s Disney film vibes. Smart House, Zenon - it’s like what they thought the future would be like back then. I’ve been reminiscing about that time period lately so I’m definitely enjoying this. The story feels a little corny, but that is actually something I really need and am enjoying right now. It feels like a light, cozy, comfy fantasy. I like it.

Being honest, the writing is a little hard to follow sometimes due to sentence structure. Though a tad inconvenient, I’m get the gist of what’s going on during those confusing times.

The names that the teacher chaperoning the trip keeps calling the students are strange. The banter is a tad corny which checks for the late 90’s / early 2000’s vibes.

I feel like this book could use one more edit. It lacks flow and clean transition. I sometimes feel like we’re hopping from one scene to another, Selene is constantly yelling and angry for seemingly no reason, and I think the reason for this is the author is trying to create some suspense and mystery but I don’t think it was properly executed.

Some of the dialogue feels unnecessary, as well as, some extreme emotions that appear out of nowhere. Also, fights seem to happen between characters almost randomly without cause. The overall idea behind the story is very intriguing, however, the plot itself feels rushed and pieced together with confusing, unimportant dialogue.

I am finding myself invested in the story, partially because it’s interesting but mostly because it’s confusing, some things don’t add up or make much sense. I hope we get some answers before the book ends, but currently I’m just trying to keep up. So many unanswered questions! I kinda want to know what happens, so I’ll most likely read book 2, eventually.

I do feel like this book needed to actually be broken up into 2 books and given more details. Often times, we jumped from one scene to another without transition. It felt like I was dropped in the middle of a story with missing context.

I do really love the idea behind the story and really appreciate and enjoyed the mythology; but it left me feeling unsatisfied, like there are too many unfinished subplots. But man there was a ton of adventure and this book has really good potential!

Thank you, Aseret Franco, for the complimentary e-copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

"The Lost Legend" by Aseret Franco is a contemporary YA book set in the future world. The journey is filled with Greek, Roman, and Norse mythologies. The seamless integration of these mythological elements adds interest and intrigue to the story. It is an alternative retelling of history and mythology. This book follows the journey of Soleil McCarthy and her friends as they embark on a journey of self-discovery and ancient mysteries.

Soleil, discovers that she is adopted and nothing about her life is what she thought. She embarks on a quest to uncover her true identity and the secrets surrounding her two sisters. When she and her senior class travel to Greece on a field trip, she discovers her true identity and her destiny. While in Greece, Soleil and her friends encounter several dangers and challenges while seeking answers about her origin, identity, and future. The urgency intensifies as Soleil realizes she must find both her sisters and uncover their Lost Legend and save the world from an ancient evil.

This book was a thrilling, roaring good time. I found myself smiling and rooting for Soleil and her friends several times throughout the book. I look forward to reading more about these characters in subsequent books.

Franco's vivid descriptions and fast paced plot will keep you engaged and reading well past your bedtime. The writing style is interesting and easy to follow, making it difficult to put the book down once you start reading. I throughly enjoyed this book and recommend it if you are looking for a fantasy adventure with a twist of mythology and a dash of science fiction.

The Lost Legend was given to me as an ARC read. Thank you so much Aseret Franco for this opportunity to read your book.

This book is an exhilarating adventure that skillfully blends contemporary life with ancient mythologies, resulting in a narrative that is enthralling. The novel introduces readers to Soleil McCarthy, a seemingly ordinary teenager focused on her academic future, who is suddenly thrust into a world where myths and legends are far more real and dangerous than she ever imagined.

Soleil is a compelling protagonist, her character development is well-paced and relatable. Her transformation from a typical high school student to a brave adventurer facing a terrible future is inspiring. The author effectively portrays her internal struggles and external challenges, making her journey one that readers can deeply invest in.

Soleil’s discovery of lost secrets of gods and mythological creatures propels her into a series of adventures that reveal not only the power and complexity of ancient deities but also the dangerous realities that come with such knowledge. The inclusion Greek gods adds a rich layer of cultural mythology, offering readers a diverse and immersive experience.

This book is a creative fusion of modern-day concerns and ancient mythologies, brought to life through the eyes of a relatable and courageous young heroine. It is a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure, promising a journey that is as enlightening as it is thrilling.

Characters:
Soleil is the main character. She seriously puts in all the effort to recall her lost memories and she puts all the puzzle pieces back together.
Selene; she annoyed me a lot of the time with her snarkiness but then I forgave her at the end of the book.
Sky; he definitely is the perfect best friend. He’s always there for Sol no matter what, literally. He endures a lot along side Soleil.
And Leo; I was confused about Leo and why he was involved or around sometimes but as time forward it made more and more sense.

Plot Highlights:
There were so many good action scenes! The fight scenes were well written and every time Soleil turned around she was right into the next adventurous moment!

Writing Style:
This is a YA series but as an adult I very much loved Aseret’s writing style. It was so easy to get sucked in to stay for what happened next, again and again. I hated having to put it down.

Overall Impressions:
If you like Norse/Greek mythology then this one is for you! This is an action packed adventure with flying cars, past lives and plenty of action the entire time! I loved how all the loose ends always came together as I read. All the loose ends were what kept me wanting more and why I couldn’t put it down!

Also, love that this series is available in both English and Spanish.

I was chosen by the author as an ARC reader for this book.

I consider it the perfect book for those who, like me, have loved the Percy Jackson saga; or mythology in general.

Set in the future and links various mythologies, including: Greek, Nordic and Egyptian.

I found this book very engaging, the protagonist, Solieil, has character, determination and the right amount of sarcasm!

During her adventures she is accompanied and supported by her best friend Sky, in my opinion a beautiful character, who would do anything to protect her... even face unknown and unimaginable creatures! Their bond is one of the things I loved most about the book, because the affection they feel for each other, is perceived from the first pages of the book.

Soleil, of course, is not only accompanied by Sky, they are very often joined by Selene and Leo, even if not by their will.

The characterisation of the characters is well done, they manage to get into your heart and you can't help but get attached to them.

The action scenes are engaging and the plot twists are great. I can't wait to read the second book!!!

The lost legend is a fun fast paced futuristic meets Percy Jackson! The author has a lot of knowledge about Greek and Norse mythology that aids the story forward. There is never a dull moment as the characters Soleil and Selene learn their history or battle monsters. The book and its characters have a lot of potential! With that being said though I do have some constructive criticism for the author. There were two big things I noticed while reading that made it difficult for me to stay interested. The first one being that there was a lot of repetition to the author’s wording. More than once I needed to double back on a sentence to make sure I didn’t just reread it over and over due to how often a word was repeated. The second being that the author had many paragraphs with fragmented sentences. These details or sentences were unnecessary for story progression. Other than that like I stated earlier the book has a lot of potential that could make it a really great story and the author definitely poured a lot of love into her book. I hope to see the author grow with her writing for the next books to come!

I really enjoyed this book. There was so much knowledge of mythology put into it and having kids named Atlas and Rhea I could truly appreciate that. Soleil was such a strong character and her character arc was so good. I did feel it was a little slow to start, there was a lot of build for something I still feel like never happened. I definitely can’t wait to read the rest of the series to see how this all plays out. I have so many questions I can’t wait to have answers to. I feel like even the background character like Sky and Leo have stories to tell and I want to know them. I’m not sure how I feel about Selene and her character yet she was very back and forth on how she felt about Soleil which made me feel the same way about her and I want to know more on her character build. Is Nova the other sister? I feel like Soleil mom and grandma know more than what they are saying. What’s with the pen? What’s in the box? Very enjoyable first book in a series building a world to get us started on a true adventure and I’m so excited to take part in the rest. Way to get things going. Thank you.
