Alex Robinson was born in the Bronx on 8 August. He grew up in Yorktown Heights, New York where he graduated high school in 1987. His first job upon graduation was washing dishes in a gourmet deli and it was while working there he decided that maybe college was a pretty good idea afterall.

He spent one year at SUNY Brockport and then transferred to an art school in New York City, where he majored in cartooning. Among his teachers were Will Eisner, Andre LeBlanc, Sal Amendola and Gahan Wilson. In his sophomore year he got a job at a bookstore, where he continued to work for seven long years.

After graduating from art school, Alex began doing mini comics (small print run comics xeroxed and stapled by himself). He soon started working on the story that would become his first graphic novel, Box Office Poison.

In 1996, Antarctic Press started publishing the serialized version of Box Office Poison. The series ran for twenty-one issues, and once the story was complete, Top Shelf Productions published the entire thing in one 608 page book. Shortly after the book was published, Alex won the Eisner Award for Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition.

Although Box Office Poison was nominated for several awards (a Harvey, an Eisner, an Ignatz and the Firecracker book award) it failed to take home a single prize. Pathetic. Alex bitterly got to work on a second book.

2005 got off to a great start when the French translation of Box Office Poison won the prestigious Prix du Premier Album award in Angouleme, France. August finally saw the release of Tricked, which Top Shelf announced was going to a second printing in November.

In 2006, Tricked lost the Eisner Award for Best Graphic Novel, but managed to win a Harvey and Ignatz Award. This year also so Astiberri in Spain release both of his graphic novels in handsome, one volume editions.

Alex has expanded his storytelling to include fantasy, with the release of Alex Robinson's LOWER REGIONS (2007) and time travel/high school in TOO COOL TO BE FORGOTTEN (2008).

He currently lives in New York City with his wife Kristen and their pets, Krimpet and Wrigley.

Granted it's not long but doesn't mean I didn't snicker my way through its wordless pages as our badass dungeon crawler slaughters her way through beasties of all description.
Good title. And yes, in case you were wondering there are lower regions depicted in the lower regions. So if you think the sight of a goblin penis may trouble you - best skip this one.

Loved this so much - pure D&D smack down! A friend gave this book to me in a 'trade pile' - we trade off books to each other after we have read them. I did not get around to this book for some time (so many books to read) but was really glad that I finished it. If you are into D&D (or know someone who is) be sure to check this book out!

Short, goofy little adventure story with lots of blood, guts, and gore. Fun read. Kudos to Alex for creating a heroine who has a "normal" figure. You don't see that in graphic novels/comics often, especially when the artist is a man.

A silent comic with a dark, gritty mood.

Think Dungeons & Dragons. Think brutal action scenes. Think B&W. Think raw fights. There you go.

That's what you get. Also, nice artwork too!

A woman goes into some dungeons to slay monsters and whatnot, and to save her loved one. She goes through one dungeon to another, and then the next and then the next and so on.
Lots of blood, dismembering and whatnot.

Think of it like a video game going to the next level. The artwork helps a lot and the scenes are really well put together so you can understand exactly what's happening, against the bazillion other comics that can't achieve that simple thing without dialogue.

The downside is that it was short and well, very quick. No b/g on anything or pretty much anything else going on.

So brief it can hardly be called a book, this is only a hair bigger than your average Chick tract, and it could easily have been anthologized. I suppose it's a weird choice for my first Alex Robinson, as it's entirely visually told. There are some fine jokes, and he certainly draws his demon-hacking heroine with bloody glee, but there are also bits where the narrative is unclear and, ultimately, it doesn't add up to much--just a toss-off.

It's a well-thought and well-drawn take on the dungeon-crawling adventure. I only wish it were longer.

Lower Regions is a great piece of storytelling: a dungeon-crawl tale told almost exclusively pictorially, with only two or three word balloons, those containg some eldritch non-English spellcasting utterance. The artwork is delicious, the monster designs are inventive, evocative of some old Monster Manual or Fiend Folio. Lower Regions is funny and gory (and sexy if you're not beyond enjoying an occasional naked monster) and filled with action and adventure. The barbarian protagonist is utterly kickass. This is wonderful stuff.

Short, fun read for Alex Robinson completists (and presumably Dungeons and Dragons fans too).

Komik tanpa balon dialog. Eh, ada ding, di bagian akhir, tapi karena mantra entah apa jadi ga tahu artinya. Jagoannya cewek yang kudu melawan para monster untuk menyelamatkan... huh, aku tertipu. Twist di bagian akhir.

This is a small, short and wordless little black and white book that has the feel of an old underground comic mixed with a Red Sonja story. Lots of gore and mayhem here, but I enjoyed it, even it only took five minutes to read. Fun but very forgettable.

Lower Regions was a cute little comic book. A little on the short side. It was also a silent story, which can be fun sometimes. The cover price is just under $7. I got mine in the September 2014 Comic Bento. I probably wouldn't have picked it up normally, but I'm glad I was able to read it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Loved this one!!! This lady is short on talk (in fact the whole story is told without any dialogue) but big on hacking up the bad guys who stand in her way.
