What a cute novella more catered to teens who also love fantasy !!! I appreciate that this had the idea of romantic interest without all the crazy sex scenes. It was fully action packed goodness !! I listened to this in audio and the female narrator did a great job at playing all the roles.
Wow, this was such a page turner! There was so much covered in such a short book, but it didn’t leave me feeling overwhelmed or unfulfilled. The magic was spectacular and creative! I definitely recommend this to any fantasy lovers!

I am cheesing so hard at writing this review. The same way I was when I read this story.
It’s short, but such a sweet palate cleanser. I liked the characters. I liked the world. I loved the braiding communication system. That was so creative. I loved all my Brown skinned fairies!!
What a gorgeous tale.
It had some grammatical errors though, Ms Cage, and the romance was not built up well. It was very sudden and rush, but you know what? I am not mad at you because it’s a 157 page read.
The way the magic was described felt so poetic and immersive for a short read. I could envision Kiora using her magic every time it was described. I really liked that.
Quick and enjoyable break before I delve back into the heavy stuff.
3.75⭐️ - OMG I NEED MORE. I have so many questions 😫this was a fun quick read and I finished in one sitting. I know it’s a novella but it definitely left me wanting more of this world. I think this would do well as a legit series.
This was a great short read, I would have read it much quicker but I was involved in a few other things. but once I sat down and focused I could not put it down until I finished it. Fairies, wolves, and the magic system made this book an attention grabber and kept me turning the pages.
Kiora and Raden are characters I look forward to reading about in further installments of this series because there is no way that there is not more to come with the way the book ended. And I just know in my feels that there is much more to Kiora's sister's story that needs to be told and Marius has a lot to do with that.

I really liked this story the only problem was that it was too short I wanted more. I wanted to know more about Kiora and Raden and the world they lived in and what they might get up to next. It was a very enjoyable story can this be the start of a series? I would definitely read more!.

I think it says a lot about an author's talent when you can make me me feel like I read a full length book and really it was just half that. I got a sense of Kiora's world and the fairy magic and I absolutely wanted more of it. The fairy and wolf combo is a new one for me and I really enjoyed that aspect of it. Two different species coming together. I'd absolutely love to me see more of Kiora and Raden and what seems like a major fight coming.

This was such a quick read. It was fast paced from the moment Kiora found Raden in the woods. I like the mixture of creatures Faeries, Werewolves, and Vampires. I liked that Kiora felt the need to help Raden find his brother after no one helped her find her sister. I really disliked the ex but we needed a villian. This was my first read from the author and I enjoyed it.
The characters of this world are fairies, werewolves & vampires. We see the world through the eyes of a fairy who is a member of her guard. She is reeling with anguish over the separation loss of her sister. Her sister has been held captive for some time by the vampires. There is a traitor amongst the fairies. Will the FMC find out who it is, or will the handsome werewolf find the traitor?
This book took me right out my reading slump. It was great. Good plot fast paced and my first vampires wear wolves and faires fantasy. 🧛♀️ Loved it will be checking out her catalogue!
"To Aide a Wolf" by Jessica Cage left a lasting impression on me. The fact that the author could create such a rich and immersive experience in a shorter format speaks volumes about their storytelling skills.
The idea of two different species coming together and the anticipation of a major fight adds a layer of excitement and intrigue, leaving you eager for more. My desire to see further development of characters like Kiora and Raden speaks to the depth and complexity of the story's universe.

I really enjoyed this little novella. It was fun to read from a Fairy's pov for once, as so many books these days are all vamps and wolves and thats it. I loved the world it was set in and would just love to dive deeper into the world and the stories it no doubt holds.
I received an ARC copy of To Aide a Wolf through Booksprout, and was rather excited to have the opportunity to read one of Jessica Cage's stories.
While reading the novella, I was interested in Kiora because there are so very few stories with female main characters that are also BPOC. Immediately, I was taken into the world and wanted to learn more about the history of this place and the ongoing war between Kiora and Raden's people. However, the suspension of disbelief and immersion that I initially felt was hindered by long passages of exposition. I felt as if I was constantly being told what was going on rather than finding out bits and pieces whilst following Kiora. It felt as if I was being talked to by the characters rather than being an omniscient being watching their story as it played out, which made the information mildly difficult to follow.
The extensive bouts of dialogue took away my ability to imagine what Kiora's home looked like, let alone the cast of side characters we're introduced to, but ultimately are handwaved away or brought up sparingly throughout the first five chapters. A few of them were, to my reading, very stock-character-like and didn't quite exist outside of their immediate connection to Kiora. Whilst she is the protagonist, to have these characters exist only within her view made them feel like standees rather than actual people in this world. Now, that isn't to say Cage doesn't do a good job at character building - I have a very good idea of who Kiora is within the first few pages and what her struggles might be. There are things about her that I connected with that made her likable but also clued me in when her decisions would ultimately land her into hot water. Nevertheless, I would have rather been shown this rather than told.
As you can guess from the brevity of this review, I don't wish to reveal too much for anyone who wishes to pick up this book later. I want to give it another read-through when I have the time and bearing.
Regardless, I believe this novella will grow into something amazing and I cannot wait to see what it is once that time comes.
Kiora is feeling suffocated in the town of Rege where she grew up. She recently joined the city Guard to help keep her people (the Faerie) safe from outsiders like humans, werewolves and worst of all vampires. When she stumbles across an injured werewolf on her patrol shift probably from a fight with the vampires, her first thought is to eliminate the threat, but when she hears the injured wolf calling our for his lost brother something inside her shatters and she can’t help but feel pulled to help him. Help him because no one helped her when her sister went missing after going out on an exploratory expedition to learn about a deadly sickness plaguing the land. But when the wolf comes to and asks her to join him in a mission to rescue his brother, Kiora is conflicted between her duty to her people and keeping them safe and the pull in her heart from one sibling to another. Will Kiora be able to keep things professional or will she find more than just a missing werewolf brother?
Thoughts: Ok so Fairy who lost a sibling and feels tied down, hottie wolf that’s searching for his brother, their species are not supposed to cross territories because of the treaty, ugh! I loved everything about this novella. The characters were very entertaining and the story drew me in and held me there till the very last page. This action packed little novella was fast paced and thorough. I felt like I got a really good understanding of how the characters grew on each other. Also the magic of the fairies was unique and their connection was awesome. Kiora a historian at heart and still has some fight in her and is quite independent made this all the better for me. Love a strong black FMC! I hope to see more of Kiora and Raden to see where their next adventure takes them.
The cover was very pretty. There were a couple of typos but wasn't too bad. The plot is decent. Kiora, a fairy guard, comes across an injured werewolf, Raden, in her assigned territory. Werewolves are not allowed in fairy territory due to a treaty, but Kiora cannot find it in herself to report the wolf to the superiors. She hides him in a makeshift hideout that her and her late sister created so he can at least heal. She learns more about Raden's story and decides to go on a mission to help him recover his lost brother. This is the main plot. There are some decent side characters, and the magic system is pretty interesting. There are some unique elements, like sharing a braided lock with a companion to form a temporary internal speaking bond.
The reason for the rating is because the dialog did not feel very natural to me; it felt very scripted and sometimes repetitive. Also, it was a short story with a lot of sub plots, so I felt the ending was a bit rushed. When I had about 50 pages left, I was wondering if it was going to end on some cliff hangers, as there was a lot of unanswered questions at this point. However, the answers were mostly wrapped up by the end. It is possible that she plans to turn this into a series, which would allow for more elaboration on some of these developments. The fighting scene left a lot to the imagination; I think the book could have benefited from a more drawn-out, detailed fight or explanation on the aftermath.
3.5 Stars Before I even started to read the book, I loved the beautiful cover. What I liked about this book was the way the writer captured my attention in the first chapter. The writer was also able to describe the fairies' magical abilities in a fresh and new light. The story is told in an engaging way from the perspective of the FMC Kiora. However, I felt that Kiora's abilities could have been expanded on more to enrich the story. The book was just too short for me to really get absorbed into this world of wolves, vampires and fairies, since I wanted more details of the interactions. I'm guessing this may be the start of a series, so then we could see more of how Kiora is able to use her abilities. The action scenes had potential, but I couldn't quite picture some of the scenes from the descriptions. I'm guessing that I didn't get more details of scenes mainly because this was such a short book. But enough was compacted into the book to still make it an enjoyable read. This is a YA paranormal/fantasy novella, so don't expect all the spicy, but if you like unique world building in a quick and easy read, this is for you.
I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and this is my voluntary review.
Wow! I can’t believe there was so much action in this little novella. Let me start off by saying the cover of this book is absolutely gorgeous. It’s beautiful and I love the character Kiora.
The magic system in this world is amazing. Kiora is a fairy and they each have different powers. I love Kiora’s power. It’s beautiful.
You have vampires and you have werewolves. In this story, the vampires and the werewolves are enemies. There is a treaty and where there’s borders for the fairies the vampires and the werewolves and no one can just come into each other’s borders so when Kiora finds an injured werewolf on her border and decides to hide him, that’s a big no no!
The story just gets much more interesting from there, but I also loved the dialogue within the characters very down to earth. It was such an easy read. It was easy for me to get into and I just truly enjoyed the journey Kiora went on. But I do feel like it’s not over and I hope she writes more adventures for Kiora Because I feel like it was just getting started.
I won’t be mad if they’re all novellas because I No, the author can make you feel like you read a full length book in a Novella.
This was a great palate cleanser. I only wish there was more. The ending makes you want an entire series about Kiora, Raden, and the other's adventure. Kiora, a fairy, was just coasting through life after the death of her entire family, until an injured enemy practically landed at her footsteps. Going against everything she was trained to do, she decided to help this man in spite of. The werewolves were a major threat to the fairies, but they had a mutual enemy, the vampires. Once finding out that a serious harm was threatening their entire species and others, she teamed up.with Raden on a quest that would be beneficial to them both. Over the course of that time, feelings started to develop even with a pesky ex inserting himself where he didn't belong. After everything was over, Kiora assumed her potential live was dead, and that left her feeling like she should just leave Rege behind until one day everything changed. I love this author's work, so this book was no different. Check this out and see what you think. It is a slow burn, so you have to really go through the motions and let things build, but it'll be worth it in the end.
I throughly enjoyed this book. Kiora finds an injured wolf (Raden) during her watch and felt called to aid him because he prayed for his brother's safety. Although she knows shes risking her career as a guard and possibly putting her fellow fairies in danger. She still does what she feels is right and hides the wolf sonhe can heal. This sets them on a path of a dangerous adventure to save his brother. But there are some other factors in play. Marius, Kiora's ex boyfriend keeps her under surveillance. And he prevented her from looking for her sister some time ago when was attacked during her mission. His overprotective nature gives red flags. It was a good read and I definitely want more of the adventures of Kiora and Raden. But I also wonder if Kiora's sister is really dead. Something tells me Marius knows more than he's saying. A fairy, Kiora, has lost her whole family. Kiora is feeling misplaced and lost. She just has her mom's bestfriend,Max,who helped raise her and her sister. Until her sister met her demise with the vamps. While patrolling she wonders upon a near dead ALPHA wolf, Radan. He was separated from his brother, Rodan during a fight with vamps. After saving his life she finds out Max has the deadly virus her parents succumb to. Well, Radan's brother has a cure if they can find and save him...and is Love in the air for Fairy and a wolf?!
Jessica, Jessi, Jess girlllllll you have done it once again! I read the last line thought I was going to turn the next page and it was the end. Now, if you say this is the only book and NO to a book 2... Well I'll see you👀 at the "LAUNCH PARTY," July 13th of I ACCIDENTALLY SUMMONED A DEMON BOYFRIEND ! 🥊😂😂
I was given a Free copy in exchange for my honest review. I found the author via TikTok when they were offering ARCs for a different book. Also I've been trying to read more books by Black Authors. I enjoyed To Aide A Wolf, like I didn't put it down until I finished reading it. The main characters were relatable even being part of the supernatural community. I wanted to punch Kiora's ex so many times. Which I think is when you know an author has done well when you want to fight a character lol. Not sure if this book was a standalone or part of a series, but either way I didn't get confused on the world building which is a plus. I would have rioted if the author didn't have the ending that they wrote, anything else would not have sufficed. So Thank you Jessica Cage for the copy and introduction into your writing.
This was a quick adventurous fantasy read that was heavy on the action and light on the romance. A fairy guard finds a badly beaten werewolf and instead of following protocol our girl hides him and nurses him back to health.
Once he's good to go she joins him on his search for his missing brother who happens to be a scientist with a possible cure to a deadly disease.
It seems straight forward however these two need to deal with both vampires and our girl's possessive crazy ex following them. This was my first book by this author, and I was very pleased.
While the two do catch feelings this is a slow burn, low spice level story. But the storyline, action, and comedy were all top tier. I'd love to see a continuance of these characters main and side and look forward to reading more of Jessica's catalog.
This sucked in my attention til the end! I was loving the characters stories, how they came to be and the journey they embarked on. It showed compassion and support for someone outside of their norm and a mutual respect that grew into a beautiful bond of trust. The connection that developed between the MCs really was beautiful and gave me hope for the two peoples to work together instead of a simple alliance. Reading through the drama of the FMCs ex had me suspicious from the start but once the plot developed I was proven right. Such a captivating experience the ended fairly well with a need for more. We want Kiora and Radens story.

Kiora is a fairy on guard duty when she encounters an injured wolf-shifter, Raden. Knowing she should turn him in, she instead decides to help him and let him heal. When he wakes he tells her that he was on an important mission that could save the lives of millions of people. Kiora knows helping him will put her at odds with her people, but she must decide if it is worth the risk.
I feel like this could have been easily expanded into a full story. While it did get wrapped up nicely in the novella I would have loved to have seen more, especially to see what happens after the end. The story was strong and the romance took a back seat. I feel like the budding relationship between Kiora and Raden was kinda forced. That being said I enjoyed the story and look forward to whatever Jessica has next for us.
Rating 3.5 stars *I received a review copy from Booksprout for my voluntary and honest review
When our heroine finds an injured wolf, she knows that the law says she should do. But she is not that cold blooded, which means she is going to have to stand up for what she feels is right. Never an easy thing to do.
This is a paranormal romance that leans a bit more towards the fantasy than most of this ilk. That is not by any means a bad thing. The story is well written and easy to read with a fun story that has a nice blend of action, humor and romance. The characters are nicely done and lots of fun as well. Overall, I quite enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended.

Jessica has a way of sucking you into her stories and if you’re like me, you may want to jump in and fight a few folks. This is a tale of how species may live separately but there may come a time where two different species may have to work together for the greater good. In this tale we have vampires, fairies and werewolves. Kiora a fairy guard is on patrol when she sees a werewolf who is hurt. Only the werewolves are not suppose to come near the fairy boarder. So why is this werewolf so close and injured. Kiora thinks with her heart and decides to take a chance and help this werewolf. In doing so she will help to solve multiple threats to her people and the werewolves.
I loved this Novella. it's based on werewolves, vampires, and fairies. Kiora is a fairy who is a part of the guard who protect their kind. But on her shift, she finds an injured person who turns out to be Raden.
The story follows them seeking who injured Raden to find someone who is very dear to his heart.
I was gripped to this story. It was funny, fast-paced, and an excellent beginning for me into the fantasy genre.
I enjoyed the writing style of the author and even found language relatable to myself and my being.
I received an ARC copy of To Aide a Wolf through Booksprout, and I was excited to read my first Jessica Cage book after finding her through TikTok.
The book has to do with a fairy, Kiora, who is a fairy guard, who finds an injured wolf-shifter, Raden. She knows that she should turn him in, but Kiora decides to help him instead. Raden, tells Kiora that he is on mission that will help save lots of people. So will she help him or turn him in?
I really enjoyed this story, but I do wish it was longer. I want to know what is going to happen beyond the events in the Novella. I normally don't like slow burns but this was just the right amount of slow burn between Kiora and Raden. The elements of the fairy's powers were cool, especially Kiora's. I like how she connected with the Earth. All the fairies powers was unique to them. I want to read more of Kiora and Raden's story and see how it would play out.
