The Revenge Games #2

Pucking Revenge

Rate this book
A fake dating, friends to lovers, hockey romance
Good boys don’t lie, fight, or steal.

Up until the moment I learned that my uncle and coach, the man I’ve looked up to my entire life, was having an affair with my best friend–the only woman I’ve ever wanted–I was a good boy. The Saint of hockey.
Brooks Langfield–star goalie of the Boston Bolts and all around nice guy.

Apparently, being good is overrated because seeing Sara blindsided when she learns that the man she was dating is married makes me just angry enough to stop thinking and finally take what I want–a real shot with my best friend.

Fake dating Sara under the guise of revenge means I’m now lying to my family, fighting anyone who even looks at her the wrong way, and stealing kisses as if she’s truly mine to touch.

Now she’s the only person I want calling me a good boy and somehow I need to show her this is so much more than pucking revenge.

Author’s Note: Pucking Revenge is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy featuring text banter from the Billionaire Langfield Brothers, a singing Boston Bolts hockey team, a cinnamon roll goalie in a friends to lovers romance with fake dating, no miscommunication, one bed, a hot tub, and quite a few ducks.

I don't know, this just gives me the ick and makes me uneasy for some reason. I have this image in my head that Sara is a very smart woman, yet for the life of me, how did she not find out that the guy she's dating is freaking married? The cheating asshole is her best friend's uncle. She lives in the same building as him, yet she didn't find out he has a wife??? He's a coach and part of a wealthy family; why didn't she cyberstalk him? I'm sure his photos and those of the wife will pop up in internet results. So why in the ever-loving heck did she go dating the guy for months without knowing anything about him, yet apparently she fell in love with him? 🤧

Don't get me started with her relationship with Brooks; he's her best friend, yet she never once mentioned the guy she's been dating all along to him. She was so secretive about it, even though she knew her secrets would be safe with him. Brooks didn't know everything about her, or rather, those important things in her life. While he was a freaking open book to her and honest (except for his feelings), most of the time.

I just can't handle this. They started their fake dating the day she found out her lover was married. Granted, it was Brooks idea to date, but she still went along with it. And this just gave me an ick.

I skimmed the last part, and with all the careful stuff he says about protecting his aunt, he sure as crap in doing that by announcing the jerk's infidelity on national television. ,🤦‍♀️ Wish he told her ahead and in private.

So yeah, this isn't for me. But other readers might get interested in it

Yall I am REALLY liking all of the crossovers and this "universe" that has been built in Boston. We have the MomCom series which ties into this series because of hockey players and brothers. Then Jenni Bara is doing a Boston Revs series which will be about the baseball team that Beckett runs (from Mother Faker). I am overwhelmed in the best way by these possibilities!! The characters are all likeable. There are laugh out loud funny situations. The spice is top notch. The banter between FMC and MMC as well as there friends is on point. Overall, I am enjoying these! This one was no exception.

I liked Brooks back in Mother Faker on his rare occurrences. He has been pining for Sara, who is on the PR team for the Boston Bolts where Brooks is the goalie, for a minute. She has a boyfriend and very clearly put Brooks in the friend zone. He has just been waiting for the chance to show her how wrong she is about them and what they could be for each other.

Sara is secretly dating the hockey coach, Seb, who is also Brooks' uncle. What Sara doesn't know is that Seb is still married to Brooks' aunt. She finds out at a family dinner, and Brooks comes to the rescue for her by acting like they are the ones that have been dating for a while. Sara doesn't know what to think. She knows that Brooks doesn't really like her like that, and she thought she only thought of him as a friend until she finds herself in an awkward situation on her bed thinking about what things could be like between them. Could this fake relationship become something real? Is she ready for that?

While Brooks is enraged with his uncle for how he has treated Sara, he is now taking this opportunity to treat her the way she deserves to be treated. He puts her needs first in ALL ways. He wants to tell her the feelings he has are real but doesn't want to scare her. So he tries to show her. The problem he is having is more with his coach. He can't help how he flips a switch when he sees him. The hardest part is that NO ONE knows what the beef is. Things finally come to a head, as they tend to do, and now people know the situation. What Brooks knows is that he is not walking away from Sara even if that means leaving the team.

Brooks was just SOOO adorable. He was a virgin before Sara, and everyone knew he had feelings for her but her. The vulnerability he shows when letting her know she would be his first everything was PERFECT! The way their friendship starts turning into more seemed so natural. I liked how fiercely her wanted to protect Sara but not to her detriment at all. talking about LOL

Favorite moments:
- Brooks meeting Sara's fam
- Brooks cutting his hair for Sara
- Sara dying her hair for Brooks
- When Sara realizes that what she feels is real and not fake

If you haven't picked up this series, I recommend you do! Oh and how could I forget about what is coming- Gavin and I am going to call MILLIE!! Gavin is Brooks older brother and now coach. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and how the relationships will all shake out. I also can't wait to hear everyone's story about the fateful night in NOLA and why they got their jewels!! If you have read this then you know what I am talking about LOL

I'm trying so hard to like this book, I love Mother Faker, and was so excited to read this. It's got a few cameos from the momcom series, and honestly their dinner together is easily the best part of this book.

I love the fact that Brook is inexperienced, virgin, and pierced. He's also very smitten with Sara, and has been pining for her since the first time he saw her. I like a few things about Sara, like how confident she is and knows what she wants (in bed at least). But that's about it.

I don't like the plot where family members are included as part of their love life, it's not a love triangle per se, but it still feels really icky to me. Basically Sara and Brook are best friends, but their friendship is the typical "it's platonic but not really", as they spend all the time together, cuddling like lovers etc. Sara is apparently dating someone in secret, that even Brook, her best friend doesn't know who the mysterious man is. Lo and behold, turns out the man she's been dating is Brook's uncle, the one that he always looked up to, and he's also his coach.

Seb (Brook's uncle) is a disgusting human being, he makes Sara his mistress, and fools everyone while playing the caring coach/uncle and a good husband. But from the little scene I saw at the start, he talks like a jerk (calling Sara slut) and punishes his nephew due to jealousy. So I don't even know what made Sara attracted to him in the first place, it ruined her image as the smart independent girl that she was shown as. And it's so weird that she didn't know he was married, they work together, they live in the same building and his nephew is his best friend. Also, she worked closely with the rest of the family members, and never once she found out about his marital status? Doesn't make sense. When Brook finds out, he blames everything on Seb, and decides to hate him immediately. Then he planned a revenge plot with Sara to get back at him.

Now this is where the issue lies, why he didn't tell his aunt? I'm sorry, if I know my husband is cheating I would like to know no matter how painful it is. Especially if the people who keep the secret are my family, it's the ultimate betrayal. He and Sara are busy plotting their revenge, which I don't think is gonna do anything to Seb. They just going to fake dating to make him jealous, for what? Seb still had his wife, his job as a coach, and his reputation as a good husband and coach. The only revenge that made sense was if they were trying to find proof of his infidelity and destroy his name and reputation, but they didn't do any of that. Brook said because he doesn't want to hurt his aunt, but in the end, he humiliates her by revealing everything in public. 🤯🤯🤯

I love some parts of this book, unfortunately, this kind of plot is not my cup of tea.

Sorry but I can’t stand Sara. she is annoying, insensitive and manipulative if you really look at her character. She calls Brooks her best friend but he knows nothing about her when she says this? She intentionally zeros him out while he keeps his doors open in hopes she’ll stop being so…herself????? Oblivious and self centered/attention seeking? (Pickmeeee)
Sara inserts herself in Brooks life fully, feeds off him & his family……. Tbh It comes off lecherous and predatory
As I read this book, the ick Sara gave me grew stronger as the chapters passed.

Brooks deserves better

Mixed feelings

I loved the first book in the series and Brooks was a unique main character I wanted to read about. We were teased about this story between him and Sara in book 1 and for a hockey romance, it was a good plot.

I had a problem with the characters. First, we are dealing with a lot of characters from more than one series with the Langstons. With the brothers, their families, the hockey players, the staff, her family and friends, there are a lot of people involved in this story. It gets distracting to me. Second, I didn’t like Sara. I tried. I thought she was insensitive to the things Brooks valued including how he couldn’t tolerate anyone disrespecting her.

This one was pretty good we have Sara and Brooks who are best friends who sorta work together in hockey. And well Sara is shocked and in a pickle when she finds out the guy she was in a relationship with lied to her and has been married the whole time. Shes ashamed and angry because she trusted this man. Brooks is angry and shocked because the girl hes been wanting was with his uncle and he looked up to him. But he wasn't mad at Sara at all. He knew she was a victim in this whole thing and not wanting her to feel bad or get hate. so he made a plan and told everyone they were finally dating.

yes she broke up with the uncle. but honestly I was shocked she didnt ask questions to Brooks about the uncle. or why didnt brooks figure it out whenever the uncle made him do extra stuff when he was talking to Sara?

the other thing I hated was how brooks aunt was. blaming Sara when once again SHE DIDNT KNOW!
BUT OH WELL they got there hea. wish brooks hit him harder.

Okay, let’s say this book exceeded my expectations by a lot, and that’s an understatement. I had been eager to read Brooks since ‘Mother Faker’ because I loved it, and reading his story was an OMG moment of love for me.

Brooks is the goalie for the Boston Bolts hockey team, and Sara works for the team in public relations. Their relationship is ‘forbidden.’ He has feelings for her that are unrequited, while she is in a ‘secret’ relationship with someone else. She realizes he is married, and our guy helps her because it affects him too. Now, these two ‘pretend’ to be dating, and the chemistry they had? I’m grateful we had both of their points of view because I loved it. Every interaction, how sweet and beautiful Brooks was with Sara, but also how intense things got in the bedroom? Yes, he’s 30 years old and a virgin, but I love it when they make the FMC teach him what she likes, and Sara shines here.

I enjoyed the relationship between these two. The transition from friends to lovers was good, although I have to say that Sara didn’t completely win me over –well, almost. There were some things she did (mostly related to Brooks) that left me a bit puzzled. But overall, it was a story that you can read quickly, it’ll make you laugh, and we also get to see the Langfield Brothers, which, for me, is something to highlight because I adore them.

📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

I found the overall concept of the story to be very promising and full of potential. However, there were several aspects that didn't quite make sense to me. The female main character (FMC) lacked the depth and intelligence that I usually look for in a protagonist, and the male main character (MMC) appeared to be resisting his attraction to her without any clear reason, which made their dynamic feel forced. Additionally, the story was riddled with plot holes, which was quite frustrating as it detracted from the overall story. Overall, reading through this book felt like a bit of a struggle, and I must admit that it was filled with clichés and predictable moments, which left me feeling very disappointed.

I had such a great time reading this. A hot hockey romance where he pines for her hardcore?? Most sports romances depict a playboy MMC and I absolutely loved that Brooks knew who he wanted and was secure with his virginity, even when his friends teased him about it.

Their friendship was amazing and I loved watching it evolve and see the tension build between the two. The humor was amazing and I laughed out loud numerous times.

The story was also more emotional than I expected. The hair scene with brooks and the scenes with her little brother completely tore me up. He was so gone for her and freely showed it.

The spice was so memorable and I loved the teach me aspect coming from the FMC and the “good boy” action 🫣.

It did get a little slow at some points and ***SPOILER*** I felt like after all the waiting to finally go all the way, it could have been more emotional and exciting of a scene, but I absolutely loved everything else about Pucking Revenge!!

Edit: after my second read-through I’m bumping this up to 4.5 stars because I loooove Brooks & Sarah

And let's talk about how sweet, caring, loving, and just overall PERFECT Brooks is!!! He's been down so bad for Sara for AGES and their friendship is absolutely so cute! And when we do get some spice between them, holy smokes! I was living for the 'good boy' moments!

The audio for this book was fantastic! The narrators did such a great job and they honestly had me dying of laughter at the funny parts! Would 10/10 recommend this audio and will be listening to the next audiobook in the series too!

4.5 ⭐️ My second Brittanee Nicole book, and even more obsessed with her stories!

This book is unrealistic to the extreme, as most sports romance books are, but here I mean it in the sense that if Brooks was real, I would have a ring on my finger because the way I would wife this man up IMMEDIATELY is no joke.

This has a Virg¡n, Pro-athlete, Millionaire MMC (i mean, gag) and the FMC is his best friend and the only woman he has ever been able to imagine for himself. So, yes, I loved Brooks. Duh. Sara's story starts a bit rocky, in the sense that she's very much the victim in the situation, but still, we know how everyone likes to blame women for men's mistakes to the point where women actually end up feeling guiltier than they do for the lying and the cheating... but I digress. I will keep the details hidden but just know that cheating is a big part of this book (NOT between MCs).

Spoilers about the cheating plot:

Now, the way Brooks steps up every time... the way he sees Sara for who she is at every turn, even when it would be so easy to assume the worst... That really is some soulmate type sh¡t to me. And I eat it up every time!

I am so, so exited for Tyler's (War) book!

🌶🌶🌶 - Yeah, don't let the whole virg!n MMC thing fool you... this man knows his stuff, he just chose to wait for this one and only to get it, and holyyyyy does he get it and then some.

I’ve now read two books written by Brittanee & what I’ve gathered from reading those two books is that she is NOT to be messed with when it comes to LOL romcoms👏🏼 The amount of times I laughed during this book was ridiculous😭 the texts between the brothers, the chaotic moments between Sara & Brooks, & the hockey team scenes all had me chuckling so much! This book was such a fun & entertaining read, as well as being so shockingly spicy but also so wholesome🥹 If anyone is going to write the most perfect chaotically unhinged scenes, it’s going to be Brittanee🙈 I had a blast reading this book & I’m actually so freaking excited for the rest of the series💙

Sara was SUCH a fun character! She had so much personality & brought so much laughter & life into the story. She is ballsy, funny, bubbly, cheeky, bold, cheerful, & quite brazen but I loved it🙈 Brooks’ nickname is Saint & that’s exactly what he was🥹 He was sweet, supportive, caring, selfless, kind, had a great head on his shoulders, & also became quite brazen over time😆

Sara & Brooks has the sweetest friendship! They were so comfortable around one another & no matter what crazy situation they somehow found themselves in, they handled it with such ease & never let a moment of awkwardness come between them. The way they transitioned from bffs to lovers felt seamless & natural. There was spice, a physical & emotional connection, crazy chemistry, & lots of tension, pining, banter🙏🏼

I also LOVED the Beckett & Liv cameos🥹 Beckett is still unhinged, of course🤣

If you have been around the last few months you've heard me screaming about Brittanée and this book is no different! The perfect formula of LOL moments, swoon, sweet and spice. This one is no different!

Sara is working PR for Brooks Hockey team and living in the same building as the team. We start out with her dating someone else which is a messy and drama filled relationship. (Not spoiling anything here 🤐)

I absolutely LOVED the entire hockey team and can't wait to continue this series with them. The BEJEWELED PEENS 🤣I literally cackled and snorted trying not to laugh at the nail salon 🫣.
“𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚.” “𝙊𝙝, 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬.” 𝙄 𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙯𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙. “𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙯𝙯𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙨. 𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙪𝙥.”

Brooks, despite being pierced is a virgin and boyyy did he study well 🤣. Sara also makes a fantastic teacher 😉. The dirty talk 🫠.

“𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.” 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐱 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐱 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬."

* You can start with this book and be fine BUT highly recommend reading Mother Faker (or the whole Momcoms 😉) before this one.

This was the perfect pallet cleanser between a lot of heavy fantasy reading, and was just what I was hoping for. It was easy to get into from the start, had a smooth plot and kept me interested.

It’s a classic friends to lovers hockey romance with some fake dating mixed in and no third act breakup.

Brooks is such a sweet character and his love for Sara from the beginning was so swoon worthy.

All of the other teammate characters were written in a way that makes you want to read their stories ASAP, and Brooks’ brothers too.

While this was my first read by Brittanee, it certainly won’t be my last.

tried to be fluffy hockey smut but failed…

Spoilers ahead…

Before I give my review I just want to say that I didn’t read the first book so maybe some of my issues with it are addressed in book 1.

The book follows the story of Sara and Brooks, two best friends turned lovers after a stint between Sara and Brooks’ Uncle Seb (who also happens to be Brooks’ hockey coach).

First, I don’t think there was enough development on Sara and Seb's relationship. How did their relationship start? Did Seb manipulate Sara into dating him? I think Nicole mentions it somewhere but it's never addressed again. Also, if Sara was over Seb's behavior, why did she keep dating him? Moreover, if Brooks and Sara were best friends how did she not know Seb was married to Aunt Zoe considering Brooks was so close to his Aunt (and to Seb)? Furthermore, if Aunt Zoe was so close to Brooks (she was basically his second mother), and went to all his pee wee games wouldn't she have gone to his NHL games? And if she did go, wouldn't Sara know her since she does PR for the hockey team? So you can see there are a lot of loopholes.

Also, most romance books have a third act break up scene--it's a pillar of the romance genre. It allows for tension and drives the plot. While we do get one in this book, it really didn’t have the build up I had hoped for. Brooks doesn't grovel anywhere near as much as as he should have for the stunt he pulled, and Sara should have revealed her past about her family and Seb to him then. When Sara does finally reveal her family story to Brooks, it’s minimal and glossed over pretty quickly.

Thirdly, the book wasn’t smut heavy (and it doesn’t have to be) but I thought the spicy scenes were kind of just added in there so it can be called a spicy book, rather than the intimate scenes serving a purpose. The sex scenes didn’t feel realistic and just felt like the author used the words penis and vagina throughout just to show that they could.

after Sara finds out her boyfriend has been lying to her and is actually... MARRIED Brooks steps in and fake dates her to help her... and him get revenge on her ex.. but little does Sara know Brooks really is doing this to get the girl at the end of the day.

Sara and Brooks together. OMG. MY HEART. Brooks is TOP TIER. Like the way he was so gone for Sara was just ugh. perfection. It took her a min to see it but once she did they truly were so perfect together. I loved the twist of who Sara was with before Brooks it added drama without it being drama between Brooks and Sara (if that makes sense haha)

For brooks to be a Virgin man was he....✨experienced✨ in the art of dirty talk✨ I wasn't expecting it. I did loveeee how Sara was so confident + comfortable with herself and leading him. also all the interconnectedness of Brit's books are bringing me SO MUCH JOY.

I don’t know if I read a different book than all these 5 stars or what but this book is all over the place and I struggled each page to get through. So much extra nonsense, over the top etc. I think brooks could have been a great book boyfriend with some great spicy scenes but the story itself was just bleh. I have read other books by this author and not enjoyed them but when I liked the first book in this series I thought maybe it was just the other series I didn’t like. It was hard miss for me.

So the FMC is PR for team but doesn’t know the uncle she is banging is married. Lolz. He told her he was divorced. But surely there are events, she is BF with the MMC and it’s HIS AUNT who the uncle is married to. That alone was obnoxious bc that just isn’t believable at all. The uncle who the beginning of book is a great guy is now a giant creeper?? I love fake dating I love a good dirty talk but so much other stuff ruins the good here

It had so much I love! Fake dating, hockey romance and even a virgin hero!

Unfortunately I just got so bored and just didn’t have the motivation to try and finish it.

Maybe one day I’ll try and give it another go…

Yeah honestly a low 2 stars. What is with these main characters hooking up with people who have already hooked up with ppl in the fam… super weird and not a fan
