I cannot say enough good things about this book. I read it over and over in the early months after our son left us for Heaven and found it to be a great encouragement. Mrs. Fleece was a wise and gentle woman whose writing style is both comforting and instructional.
Not By Accident: What I Learned from My Son’s Untimely Death tells the story of the loss of the Fleece’s teenage son, Ned, in a car crash. Its sixty-one pages are arranged into very short chapters, the theme of each being: what “I Learned…”

“I learned…to rest in the full meaning of this Word from God: ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever’ (Hebrews 13:8). I learned to think upon the constancy of Christ – the eternal unchangeableness of our Lord Jesus – who is the same yesterday and today and forever.
In the late afternoon…of a happy family holiday, suddenly everything changed. Our hearts, our minds, our hopes, our home, our future, our plans, our present – all were changed. Excellent book for those searching for their Christian walk. Written from a grieving heart but one filled with love, faith and understanding. Highly recommend this small book.
