This book included 3 novellas by 3 wonderful authors! They were all around the theme of a big storm covering a chunk of the US, but the 3 stories took place in different areas. I really enjoyed how they were separate stories by connected. The Maggie O'Dell story was my favorite because I am most familiar with her character. I have read all of the books in that series. I also loved the story with Taylor Jackson. It was very exciting and fast read. I am not as familiar with MC Riggio's character, but also loved the story and want to read more of her series. This is the second time these three authors have collaborated and I loved it. I hope they do it again, because I would definitely want to read it!
Spindler, Kava, and Ellison blend a combination of suspense, mystery, and intrigue in their novel Storm Season. One crazy storm brings out many forms of evil across the country: • A murder in Illinois (Spindler) • A missing US Senator's family off the coast of Florida (Kava) • A murder of retribution during a Freedom Conference in Washington DC whose clientele is made up of police officers and spies (Ellison)
These were fast-paced novellas, and I found myself wanting more, which is probably the point!
i was so excited when i heard Erica Spindlers Mc and Kitt were making an appearance in Storm Season. i downloaded it as soon as it came out on Boxing Day. Having read Copycat (several times now) i was looking forward to having a catchup with 2 of my fav characters.i wasn't disappointed. i felt simply spoilt as a reader. 3 of my favorite authors all writing one book was bliss. catching up with Maggie as well as Taylor was an added bonus. i shall definitely be looking out for the next collaboration between these 3 authors!!
This exciting thriller comprises three suspenseful novellas by three different authors, all set during a megastorm that batters the Midwest and East Coast. The standout is J.T. Ellison's "Whiteout," featuring Nashville homicide detective Taylor Jackson. Also excellent is Erica Spindler's "Deep Freeze," with Rockford homicide detective M.C. Riggio. Alex Kava's "Electric Blue," starring FBI agent Maggie O'Dell, is a good story, but it's obvious that no one bothered to copy edit or proofread it. Despite that one drawback, this book is a fast-paced page-turner that's well worth reading.
Another hit from 3 amazing authors! Some of the authors favorite characters enduring a huge storm... They did it again- Excellent read by all 3! If you liked Slices of Night you'll love Storm Season!!!
I enjoyed the work of each author. This was perfect for small amount of reading time I had available. The stories were somewhat predictable, but there was little time for plot twists and extensive character development. Well worth the time spent reading.
I have only read Electric Blue by Alex Kava but it is a good story. As expected with Maggie O’Dell things are not quite what we expect, but regardless of nerves , she jumps into the feet to help others out. Tully is also back and handling the political aspect of the case that once again AD sent them on. The play on drug routes and maritime passages was intriguing.
This story happens after Stranded, but I am not sure how much later as nothing is discussed about what Tully experienced in Stranded and we don’t see Gwen in this story. It was great to return to the aircrew and see Liz again. This is a quick and short read but still packs a punch of suspense and action!
I enjoyed this soooo much better than the last batch of novellas from this trio. One HUGE plus this time around? EDITING!!!!! actually happened!!!! Which made everything better in my opinion. I liked the stories more this time too (which could be somewhat due to the editing-having-happened thing...). More suspense. I was a little sad that the stories didn't really flow together like the last batch. All in all though, I was happy. I didn't return this to Amazon for my money back due to the quality (I did the previous effort). I actually want to read other things by Erica Spindler and Alex Kava. (I already knew I enjoyed Ms Ellison, which is why I read this in the first place.)
Happy Early birthday to me!!!! Loved the fast paced stories, the different directions each plot took and that Jim Cantore was mentioned in each short story. I love that man! I hope the next novella gets all three women in a conference call to discuss a case soon! Ladies you rock and I thank you for an awesome bday gift. I know I need a gritty book to read next and I'm short on J.T. Ellison's books so I think I will grab hers next and then one of Erica's and well I only have 2 stand alones titles to read by Alex.... It's going to be a great January! This was my first book for my 100 challenge this 2013 year in Goodreads. ;o)
This book was a hit with me! I like how the authors bring back some of their lead characters in these novellas and linked by a massive storm that hits in the Midwest, Florida and up the East Coast. Some of the murders are solved and others are left hanging a bit, but fans of these authors will enjoy the chance to revisit favorite characters.
I was not happy with the 3 stories. We not interesting to me. Boring. I have not miss one book by T.T. Ellison Taylor Jackson series. ThaEy we all great. But this one Thumbs Down.
Unless given these what is basically a short story I will not be purchasing them again. Waste of money. The reality is they should give these away to encourage new readers because they just annoy the hell out of loyal readers when they pay a ridiculous price for a short story.
Three books in one. I had read one of the short stories prior and enjoyed Erica Spindler as I just finished that series and enjoy the follow up from those books
It was... okay. I felt the least connection with the last story probably because I haven't read the series and I don't know the main character. I liked the Erica Spindler's story best.
I have had this poor novella collection sitting on my Kindle for months and kept bumping it for other books. Finally, I finished it tonight. Like the previous collection by these three authors, Storm Season gives us three more stories linked together. This time it's by a massive storm system sweeping across the United States. In the midst of it's fury, Rockford Illinois Homicide Detective M.C. Riggio, FBI profiler Maggie O’Dell, and Nashville Homicide Lieutenant Taylor Jackson are faced with three very different cases in Rockford, Pensacola FL and Chesapeake Bay respectively.
I regularly read J.T. Ellison's Taylor Jackson books and the spin-off Samantha Owens series and the Taylor Jackson story was my favorite. This is a quick read--I still find the novellas to be too short to be truly satisfying, but decent overall for fans of any of these three authors.
Storm Season is a collection of 3 short stories by JT Ellison, Alex Kava and Erica Spindler.
It is a great introduction to their individual prowess as writers. One storm, and three different writers putting their heroines smack dab in the middle of it.
JT Ellison has her Lieutenant Taylor Jackson ride out the storm in a conference for foreign intelligence agents when two of the group go missing. Alex Kava has FBI Agent Maggie O'Dell fighting the winds in a helicopter and on a houseboat trying to save the Senator's family. Erica Spindler throws MC Riggio and partner Kitt Lundgren into the storm to find out the truth about a young coed's death.
