***Literary Nasties Award Winner - Long Fiction*** Abella Jane has taken the adult industry by storm, garnering more downloads than any porn star before her. As the rabid obsessions of the hot new starlet grow and spread, bad things start happening. Marriages fall apart, wildfires destroy peoples' lives, crops suffer, and innocent people are being randomly and brutally murdered in the streets at increasingly alarming rates. Roy, a devoted family man with his own addiction to porn’s hottest starlet, experiences a life-changing tragedy and begins seeing visions which he believes are of the troubled individuals he must recruit to stop the devil who is using porn and its reach to build a demonic, sex-crazed armyfor the end of days.
With a cast of unlikely heroes and the hottest porn stars around, this supernatural story takes you on a rollercoaster ride full of sex, gore, massive appendages, while never losing sight of the unwavering hope of redemption.
“Holy Hell - this book is wrong! It's rare to find splatterpunk with something to say these days, but this one says a lot. When I heard this was a showdown between Good and Evil set within the porn world, I knew I just had to read it. Micheli seems to have made it his mission (divinely inspired or not) to write a splatterporn version of The Stand, and I'd say he did a hell of a job. The scope is much smaller, (even the Bible is smaller than The Stand), but the roster of depraved villains and heroes in all shades of gray definitely hit all the right spots. Read this book, and spread the gospel of Pornageddon far and wide!”—Duncan Ralston, author of Woom and Ghostland
“Animalistic sex, porn addiction and visceral gore mingle perfectly in this tale of baby batter-coated insanity. Micheli’s characters and blood-splattered set pieces are every bit as fully realized as the money shots, making Pornogeddon a book with as much heart as bodily fluids. I can’t recommend it enough.” —Jon Steffens, author of The God in the Hills series
"I'm not sure if this book wants me to pray to God or porn—maybe both? Nothing I’ve ever read has delivered two so polar opposite themes within the same text, yet Micheli does it masterfully. So grab a bible and some lube and… Jesus, we’re going to Hell!” —Patrick C. Harrison III, author of 100% Match and Grandpappy
Matt Micheli is an award-winning horror and dark-fiction author out of New Braunfels, TX. He has several fiction and non-fiction pieces featured in various magazines and anthologies and is a multi-contributor to This is Horror, Horror Sleaze Trash, and Horror Tree. A widower (he lost his wife to Cancer) and a loving father to a daughter and husky dogs, he spends his days dabbling in domestication and his nights in Tequila, always searching for the next great story.
First off, Matt Micheli’s dedication had my laughing my ass off. This is a very sexually explicit story. Lots of porn, deviant behaviors, 11-inch wangers, sexorcisms, and all sorts of carnal matters. Then again, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise if you read the title. Now the devil comes in many different forms, and the author really ran with that old saying with this premise (No spoilers). We have a porn-ravaged sort of society of the brink of a global disaster, with the hopes of survival all being placed on a ragtag group. A discouraged male pornstar, a porn-addicted priest, and a few others battle the odds to save the world. Like a Justice League sort of concept…but with lots of porn. Now there are plenty of funny moments and this is absolutely a splatterpunk type of book, as it brings the smuttiness, gore, and ugliness that we’ve all grown to adore. And the finale was really something unique. I did have a bit of a time digesting the huge number of characters, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the 25% mark when we were still getting introductions. However, the author did a good job giving everyone their time and balancing everything out. The flow, also, was good throughout, but felt very rushed towards the very end. So, not without some minor critiques, I had a really great experience here. And, on a side note, the threat of extinction would not stop me from my pornography habits.
I'm not sure and I'm not keeping tabs on who is the hottest porn star or starlet in the real world but in this story, the hottest porn starlet the world has ever seen, is luring men and gets them addicted to her - and uses it as motivation to kill and to sacrifice. Her mission is to get to 666 sacrifices. Come to think of it, it is actually not too far from reality.
I reckon you actually don't have to be into porn or adult movies at all to find this funny and entertaining. Good Vs. Evil with a nasty twist. Aside from the book cover art, what got me curious and intrigued was how it was described as a splatterporn version of Stephen King's The Stand. As a King fan, I knew I had to check it out. It is just the right blend of dark humour and gore. It is funny, filthy and ludicrous. I did not expect some turn of events and some of the character development. Each character here has different stages of porn addiction. They are written so well it is as if they are real. One character got into an accident and started getting visions. He and other random people are going to save the world. The visions only lead him to battle yet he doesn't have a clue how it ends. It is up to him to find the rest of the unlikely heroes to join him and convince them that he is not just losing his marbles. How it ended was surprisingly witty, clever, funny and ridiculous- I cannot 😂
Big thanks to the publisher, Booksirens for the arc. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Before I begin my review, you can probably tell by the name of the book that this one is not for everyone. It has some explicit and very graphic scenes. The Extreme Horror genre isn't for the faint of heart. You have been warned.
Matt Micheli opened my eyes to the world of Indie Horror with his excellent winter horror, The White. I've sought out every book he's written since to devour his great character writing. His characters are always well developed and feel real to me. This is a non-negotiable requirement for books that I read. Pornageddon is no exception to Micheli's character driven writing style. My heart grabbed hold of my favorite characters and I was with them for the duration of the story.
This is a classic good versus evil story, told in a world addicted to pornography. The good and bad are clearly defined and you might be surprised by which side some of the characters fall! True to his excellent character writing, Micheli shows us the characters' values and the good are clearly good, while the evil are evil to the core.
It was a great story with suspense and plenty of gore for the extreme horror fans out there. Now that I'm done, I'm anxiously awaiting my next Matt Micheli read! I give Pornageddon four out of five soul-stealing stars.
Ha!!! Some good old horror erotica! Good verses evil, but in the seedy world of porn who is good and who is evil? Get your holy water at the ready, you’re gonna need it after your porn marathon!
This one hits hard and fast, right from the first line… you’ll be hooked! The characters are written so perfectly that you can immediately decide who you’re rooting for and who you hope to see crumble. You will laugh, you will groan, maybe even moan a little. You’ll be horrified, you’ll be surprised… you won’t see it coming, any of it! The sexy horror themes in this book will leave you feeling… strangely excited and slightly disgusted! Horror has never been so sexy! … and you won’t see the climax coming! Micheli really upped his game on this one folks. Idk if I’m horrified or whorrorfied but it feeeeeels so goooood. Do not miss this one, I promise it’s worth the build-up; you like a bit of naught and nasty with your horror, this is the video—I mean book… for you ;)
Good heavens, who would have thought such a book would ever be written! From the first page to the last, 'Pornageddon' misses no chance to provoke, upset, enrage, and excite (no pun intended!). Its strength, however, lies by far in its characters and its emotional, character-driven storytelling: their humanity, their flaws, their aspirations, all their problems are exposed in all their nakedness, people in the novel shamelessly flaunting themselves in both good and bad ways, never hiding from their obsessions. And what an obsession this is: addiction to a female star of the adult industry, that, instead of diminishing the more you enjoy her videos, and getting desensitized to her feminine wiles, you need more, more, and MORE of her! Poor family men, obese men before their screens, even people of God, find themselves facing disaster as their life gets hit by a storm of desire and sexual hunger unlike any they've felt before. Amid this bizarre storm of bottomless (self-)stimulation, stands another star of the same industry, a black man equipped with what most men dream about downstairs (and then some!), trying to make do without fixing everything on his freakish endowment. Plus, there's a demonically possessed killer going around brutally sacrificing people of all ages to his sex-deity. And a businessman who has visions! It was really funny to see how these people would find themselves embroiled in a supernatural battle against evil. By the time I realized what was really going in the book, how the characters' stories would converge, I was already hooked and 'Pornageddon' had turned into a definite page-turner, tense, humorous, and fast-paced! Although the ending felt a bit too rushed, the fine writing exuded such self-confidence, always keeping the plot grounded, in spite of some totally outlandish situations! There's no doubt that, once you’ve reached the last page, you’ll be wondering how Matt Micheli's mind works... and what will he do next!
Matt Micheli doesn't hold back with this sharp, witty, sexy, and splattery twist on the apocalypse trope. (Acockalypse Now maybe?) In addition to really showing off his chops for introducing realistic, fleshed-out characters in an otherwise over-the-top plotline, Micheli also seems to have presented us with the ugly truths of human-consumerism and media addiction. While the book doesn't take itself too seriously at any point, it never lets you forget how smart it is underneath all of the blood and gore and (of course) porn. The action and entertainment are there from the very beginning and the climax never lets up. This was the most fun I've had with a book in a while.
The world's addicted to porn and the devil appears in the strangest of places!
This book was fun, it gorey its filthy, it's funny and it has a great story!
There are loads of characters introduced in the beginning quite quickly, and I was worried about being able to follow them al, but the author brings everyone together really easily it's not hard to follow!
Just as a side note, i also loved the cover for this book it caught my eye and made me want to find out more!
I got this book free from booksirens and I'm leaving this review voluntary
There are so many emotions I have with this book! It’s labeled as “splatterpunk” and it is to some extent but I have never read a book that combines horror, thriller, mystery, erotica, and a bit of comedy like this one. There is even an element of spirituality, inspiration, and mental health. Just a great story!
The antagonist was the devil that takes the form of rising porn starlet “Abella”, who you unconsciously will imagine as Abella Danger. The protagonists have all been affected by her and her naughty nasty ways. (Ok, I still love me some Abella Danger..what’s wrong with me, lol). The hidden meaning or layered meaning is about the dangers of porn addiction and I really applaud the author for being daring enough to weave that into the book. The crazy part was those close to “Abella” didn’t even realize she was Satan in disguise.

Abella Jane is taking the world by storm and my brain won't ever be the same!
Pornageddon follows a myriad of characters as they all experience the viral online passions of Abella Jane, an infamous adult film star who is the newest sensation. There are many reasons to love Matt Micheli's writing, but one of my favorite things about his writing is the characters. Matt knows how to make you LOVE (or hate) a character. His characters evoke some strong emotions in me and in Pornageddon, it is no different! A few characters are laugh-out-loud hysterical, some made me want to grind my teeth into dust, and others gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings I could want.
As for the plot of this story, I didn't see it coming. I mean yes, the name of this story is Pornageddon, but with an amazing title like that, there are so many different directions it could go. This took me by surprise and I had to sit down and devour the whole story. It is disturbing, gross, and juicy (yes pun intended), and just such a fun take on some splatterpunk.
You should stop what you're reading right now and pre-order Pornageddon (that's what Abella Jane wants you to do)! This cover alone is a reason to pick up this book, and the words inside of it are NEXT LEVEL HORROR!
While you're at it, check out Matt's other stories. Because if you loved this one, you'll love those too!
Clutch those pearls and clench your thighs, the end is nigh.
Ok, let me start this off by disclosing this was recommended to me through BookSirens, and you know you can’t flash a title like that in my face and not expect me to give it a second glance. I did. I gave it a second glance, and I have to admit this book has everything I associate with splatterpunk whorror. In excess. And I’m not mad about it.
A viscerally gripping tale drenched in blood and all other bodily fluids, Pornageddon starts off with a bang, bringing readers to their knees by giving us a glimpse behind the veil of the adult film industry. Slowly branching out, we see the effects of this prominent form of entertainment as it sinks its oily claws into all walks of life. However, when a new starlet makes her way onto screens and into homes, sh*t hits the fan and the streets run red.
Well…I don’t know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this. I’ll be honest, the first couple chapters had me questioning my life choices, but I soon found myself getting gloriously sucked into this BRUTAL story as I followed a quartet of questionable heroes as they attempted to stop impending doom, all while also battling their own inner demons. Each so different, yet all working together to save the world from evil. It was far too easy to loathe, then love each and every one of them.
A consuming blend of dark humor, explicit depravity, and gruesome gore, Pornageddon is the perfect treat for all of you horror fans looking for something disturbing and spicy in equal measure, and also portraying a profound message. This was my first read from Micheli, but it certainly won’t be the last. Thank you for the wild ride, Matt!
I don't really consider myself much of a book reviewer these days. But, I'll gladly dust off my reviewer hat for Matt Micheli.
I'm going to be honest, when he announced this book, I was a little bit hesitant. I wasn't really sure how he was going to pull a horror novel about the porn industry off. But, upon finishing it, he absolutely pulled it off. The majority of Micheli books I've read are very topical. They all are "about something." Much of this book explores the different ways that that industry affects different people. And I feel like this is handled in a very real and nuanced way. Never exploiting any real-world issues for the simple sake of shock.
That being said, this book is in no short supply of shocking moments. The imagination of Matt Micheli knows no boounds. If I had to compare it to anything, I would say it feels a lot like Stephen King's the Stand (but instead of a killer flu, it's porn addiction) with a climax that feels like an X-rated version of Ghostbusters (the good one. So, yeah, Matt Micheli cranked out another banger, no surprises there.
It's a classic tale of good vs. evil but with porn being the main catalyst. It seems the devil is using porn to try and gain control of the world. I found this to be very clever since the porn industry is a billion dollar business. To be honest, this book is 'wrong', however it was wrong for all the right reasons.
It's a book that sends a message but does it without shoving it in your face. The cast of characters all come from different walks of life, which adds flavor to the already crazy story.
This wasn’t as tawdry as one would imagine. Yes there was what you would expect from the title but it was very much a battle of good versus evil. The gore was fantastic, the descriptions of what became of the bad guys was inventive and I finished the whole thing in under a day. The good characters weren’t too good which helped make the situation a little more realistic but there were some deaths in there I did not expect and now I’m sad! This was a great adventure and I will look out for more from this author.
HOLY.FUCK. Figuratively, literally, this one will have you sitting on the edge of your pew! God bless you Matt Micheli! For all that’s good and sacred; Read Pornageddon now.
After reading this book I need a good scrub with Holy Water!!! 🫣
What a spicy, juicy and disturbingly wonderful thrilling ride!!! Who would have thought Matt was a spicy devil! I am absolutely loving this side of Matt! I absolutely loved this book and all the devilish spicy scenes that came with it. Must get this on my bookshelf as soon as it comes out.
I loved how Matt took his time introducing us to each of the characters. The characters were very well developed in my opinion. The characters made me feel all kinds of emotions which is what I look for in a book. They made me mad, laugh, cry, feel disturbed and feel grossed out.
I highly recommend this book. It should be on your TBR and you should get it as soon as it comes out on April 3rd.
When I started reading this book, I didn't know anything about it other than the title. It is very sexually explicit and I worried that aspect of the story would overwhelm the horror. I shouldn't have worried though, this was a great good vs evil story with demons, blood, redemption, a touch of humor, and great well developed characters. I honestly have to say, Benny turned out to be my favorite character.
Welcome my fellow sinners ✝️ The porn epidemic has officially hit 💦 Abella Jane is the hottest female pornstar in the business drawing everyone in with her exceptional talents and killer bod but there’s something sinister lurking within. 😈 Get that holy water ready cuz lord knows you’re gonna need it after this lusty depraved ride into hell🔥🙏💧
Hats off to Matt Micheli for crafting such a sexy, well-written, extreme horror story! Is SplatterSmut a thing because if it isn’t..now it is! Pornageddon was one hell of a read and I enjoyed every filthy minute of it. Do yourself a favor and read this book. You know you want to 😉🥵🌶️👹
This author will never disappoint. I very much enjoyed reading this. I always love how he has a message in his novels. This one gave me mega Stephen King “The Stand” vibes which is a great comparison in my eyes because I grew up loving that movie (and the novel.) The concept of good vs evil has always been a topic I enjoy reading about. The writing was superb. The fact the author was able to write such different characters and being able to tell the difference between each one I feel is always an accomplishment. I’ve read books where I couldn’t tell who’s P.O.V I was on but this novel I could tell who each character was, never getting confused, and I enjoyed learning about each one. Also the way he showed good vs evil while also discussing an addiction some people struggle with I feel like as a very interesting concept and was executed very well. I recommend everyone give this novel a go! I know I enjoyed it.
You want sex and blood in your reading material? Well, Mr. Micheli has you covered on that and so much more.
What happens when the world’s hottest piece of ass (Abella) is actually the reason for Armageddon? Can four rag tag men who enjoy their hands down their pants a wee bit too much help save humanity? And what’s with all the random killings?! You gotta read to find out.
Micheli is no-holds bar in this depraved, Jesus-needs-to-save-you novel. From the sex scenes and bloody deaths, you know you are in for a ride as the four Horny-smen try to stop the Apocalypse.
This one! Man. I really enjoyed this story. All of the characters were believable and really had me rooting for them! I've read a lot of "end of days" books and this one is in the top. It's got just the right amount of smut (although I'm not sure that's what it should be called in this particular story) and gore. It made me think. The ending blew me away! You should definitely check this one out!
Many thanks to BookSirens, Evil Cookie Publishing, and the author - Matt Micheli, for providing me with an ARC, and this review is voluntary.
Abella Jane has taken the adult content world by storm. Much like those spam ads we cannot click out of fast enough, so too, are the folks flocking to her content. This is a type of phenomena set in a world that hasn’t experienced it. The internet became a shell of what it was; a vehicle, instead, for Abella’s content. A cast of characters are littered throughout the story, and as the synopsis indicates, Roy is one of them. He does begin to see visions after a life-changing situation, which sets him on a new course to save the world from what he believes is a growth of evil through this adult content. Others are recruited along the way; a real end-of-times ragtag team of folks.
There are a lot of different characters within the story, so we’re exposed to more than just one point-of-view. It takes a moment to meet all of them, but most of the characters presented are important to the plot in some way. The depth of the character profiles was also noted. Whenever that new chapter/perspective occurred, we learned more about the thoughts in each character’s head, and how this environmental factor (adult film content) is affecting them, and their life. It’s most noted when there is a moment of self-realization for a character. We see their path towards obsession, guilt, or shame. When they acknowledge just how desperate their actions have become.
A couple of literary techniques were interwoven within the story. Some sections were written as though it were a screenplay; focusing more on the action, or as though we were seeing it through a camera lens. There is a healthy dosage of comedy present throughout, the humor of which I’d say is comparable to Scary Movie. At times the plot did feel a bit repetitive because of how focused it was on adult film content, and the obsession with Abella Jane in particular; however, without this build up present, it wouldn’t have led to an ending that wrapped up nicely, in a cinematic way. The heroes riding off into the sunset.
Overall, not bad. Something different, with some social commentary mixed in for effect.
Notes from a Decaying Millennial: I Read an ARC of this book via BookSirens in exchange for an honest review. This is not a Paid Review -
Pornageddon is a recently published work of Extreme Horror from author Matt Micheli. Most readers don't stumble into the Extreme Horror Genre on accident, but if perhaps this the case here, be warned that this book delivers on the hallmarks of the sub-genre (gore, violence, sex and gross-out). Micheli's story is definitely a fun addition to the genre. End of the world scenarios, sexorcisms, bukkake and crisis of faith are layered together with the struggles and secretions of a well rounded cast of characters. The events of Pornageddon take place around a near future Southern California, and a slightly satirized but very realistic Adult Film Industry. One element I always look for in a good extreme horror story, is when an author writes a gross scene that makes laugh while going eeew. The same goes for scenes of violence and gore. Micheli's book succeeded on both counts. Micheli is able t,o not only keep the story moving at a steady pace up until the end, he also continues to present plenty of gore, humor, and genuine character growth. Unfortunately I was not able to give this five stars. As I've said Micheli very effectively builds the story up to a throbbing climax ( see what I did there?). However, aside from a few explosive moments at stories end, the narrative quickly loses steam. We're left not with a story that ends with a bang, but a whimper, perhaps a slight moan, before rolling over and falling asleep...
In addition, there was a reoccurring issue with the Text in this kindle edition presenting in a modulating font size. Whether this was an issue in formatting, or something else on the publisher end is unclear.
Pornageddon has to be one of the most fantastically ridiculous books I've ever read 😂 Abella Jane has taken the world by storm with her perfect body and extreme sexual energy, men falling at her feet willing to do whatever she needs just so they can get the Big O (many times). And what does Abella need? Souls, of course! 666 to be precise, because Satan is here and she's very horny!
This was great, no ifs, ands, or buts about it! To think that the world could go to hell because of massive porn addiction...what a fun idea! Matt gave me something really unique with this one, and it was so much fun to read.
I liked that the "heroes" of the story were just regular, very flawed people. None of them were built up to be these uber righteous paragon of virtue (despite whose will they were carrying out), and that brought a good level of depth to the story. It was just a group of people who got together and decided this starlet had done enough damage and needed to be stopped. And they were tired of seeing the sky red, damn those large-scale smokeless wildfires!
And poor D (though maybe he's d now?). The poor guy was just trying to get out of the business and make a new life with a good, God-fearing woman, and look what happens! This brought home a very important lesson: no guy is ever packing a footlong, and if he says he is, it's half that at best!
Big thank you to Matt for the ARC copy! I had loads of fun, and Gina for the win!
