As a general rule, every species on Earth is afraid of death - in one way or another.
But what about those who aren't afraid? Those who lean over the edge of the cliff just to get a better view. Those who think about the blood spilling from their veins and instead of being frozen from fear, they smile in relief.
I'm not afraid of death. Instead, I welcome it. As I jump from this bridge into freezing cold, deep, black water - I am not afraid. I smile. I welcome the release that death will bring me. Release from all the pain and suffering that comes with a beating heart.
I'm no stranger to death, and I know he will welcome me with open arms.
"Because that's what you are. The moment I felt your soul, the first moment you thought of death all those months ago, I knew I would have you. I knew you were meant to be mine."
"Just so you know, if I had a heart, you would own it. I do have a soul, though, and it's already all yours. Every dark, black shard of it. It takes strength, though, to own a Reaper's soul. Find your strength, siren, and I'll be there to collect what is owed to me.
"Would you believe me if I told you the Grim Reaper saved me?"
Blood makes me happy. Causing pain makes me happy. What most people don't realize is that pain only heightens pleasure. When the two are combined, wonderous things happen.
My head snaps to the side, and my hand shoots up to rub my jaw in surprise. The fucker actually hit me. I laugh again. Perfect. He just made this fun.
"Going to kill me over a girl you just fucking met?" He screams. "Well, sorry for your luck, but she's mine." His words make me laugh, blood spurting out of my mouth and dripping down my chin.
"You do deserve love. You deserve to be loved and feel loved. We'll make sure you do, all of us."
He reaches out and runs his fingers over the scars on my wrist. "If you ever, ever do something to harm yourself ever again, you'll have me to answer to."
"Do you want me to kill your father for you?"
"What does matter, little siren, is that you one day say those same words to me - and mean them. That even if he doesn't agree to be our mate, you realize you have three others who would rip their own hearts out, who would burn the world to the ground just to hear those three little words you spoke to a man who is rejecting you. So, hear this, little siren, you do not bow to the whims of man, when you have gods worshipping at your feet.
I lift my hand up with the knife in it and look down at Amri. Her eyes are wide as she watches me, but the hint of a smile graces her lips. That's my girl.
"This right here is what makes it so hard to love humanity. They're willingness to bypass what's right for greed."
"A closer look reveals what she used to take her life. A pen. A fucking pen. I can't help but chuckle. Of course, my wild, untamable mate, would use a fucking pen.
