EVERY STORM CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING

Taken hostage, Reirin (in Keigetsu's body) and Keikou must face the Untouchable Village's retribution by...toiling in the rice paddies? Why, it's just the type of challenge the earth-loving Kou siblings delight in! Their bamboozled captors are left in the dust whilst the dynamic duo launch a top-to-bottom agricultural revamp. But their bucolic days are cut short when a familiar face joins the captives. As hidden truths and machinations are tossed into sharp relief, everything Unran has scraped together for his people teeters on the brink. So far from home, how will Reirin face the Village's unprecedented malaise?

"Being open and vulnerable makes us scared to be hated. And what's more agonizing is having our feelings unrequited."

This has been such an incredible arc with me laughing SO much when reading this volume, but also feeling a lot of my heartstrings pulled too. However, that ending had me gasping in shock, fear, AND worry!

It honestly left me speechless because I sort of just thought/felt our girls were the only ones growing and having some wonderful character development, but this volume showed that characters from previous volumes have learned valuable lessons. They are not making the same mistakes they did, and because of that, there are interesting consequences(?) at hand and TBD if we will see those consequences and/or effects unfold in the next volume. (I am nervous about it, to say the least!)

I am worried and excited for what's to come because I LOVED all the sibling shenanigans between Reirin and her brother as well as seeing Keigetsu be such a worrywart because she really is not the villainess she used to be! There were so many wonderful moments that truly left me happy, but when Reirin opened up to her brother about a reoccurring dream, I confess I am very worried as to what that means concerning the future. I hope there is a solution, and feel bad saying that I hope it's not being able to swap bodies again, but that is deeply unfair to Keigetsu.

Speaking of unfairness, it wouldn't be right to say this volume had "romance," but goodness that scene with the Captain and Reirin made my jaw drop!! There is so much I want to say on this one moment, but it would be massive spoilers, so instead I will say I NEED to know what's going to come from this moment! Things just took a huge turn and I don't know how it's going to unfold!

Lastly, I agree with Reirin that Unran reminds me of Leelee and that all the moments she said were super cute! She really does care for him, even though that one moment they had in the forest was kind of scary. (More for Reirin or Unran is hard to say honestly…) I hope he takes her words to heart and grows as a young man!

This has been one of my favorite volumes and I am so sad and excited that I am caught up with the physical volumes because I am desperate for more!

Kindle edition

No kindle edition on Goodreads yet, which explains why it wouldn't sync on the app. The duo continue causing chaos. At this point I'm feeling a little sorry for Shu, but it is fun watching her being all motherly and the little extra at the end with the brother was sweet. Literally nothing was hidden this time around. Iffy incident with Unran, but nothing comes of it and he ends up swept up with the rest. Curious how this one will get resolved. Defo cheering on Shu and the brother.

Very into the idea of them staying in the other’s body permanently. Also, if the prince is endgame, tell me now so I stop reading. I love the antics, but he leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that it ruins the rest of the story. Give us the captain and Reirin or nothing. (And also Keigetsu with Reirin’s brother—they can all leave the imperial court and live quiet lives in the Kou territory)
