Bitten #2

Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Rate this book
I used to think that my life was boring. I resigned myself to the rut I was stuck in. Then my entire existence was turned upside down. In the last six months, I’ve learned things that would get me committed to an asylum if I repeated them. First, I was kidnapped by vampires. Yes, vampires. Sounds crazy, right? My best friend, Donna, became one of the fanged after that little adventure and hooked up with a hot, Scottish vampire named Conner. They’re even planning a wedding. Secondly, I learned not all vampires are evil. In fact, some of them are downright sexy. Alexander Dimitriades has it all. He’s tall, dark, and handsome and manages to give me tingles in all the right place and also make me laugh. Unfortunately, to be with him, I would have to give up my humanity and I like being human. Then, there’s the fact that the whole drinking blood thing gives me the heebie jeebies. To make matters worse, there are plans in motion to change the place vampires hold in the human world. And I’m caught in the middle, between the vampire I’m falling in love with and a group that wants to create a vampire dictatorship, with humans as slaves. Now, all I want is my calm, normal life back. As my friend, Ricki, likes to say, “Be careful what you wish for because it might come and bite you on the ass.” I hate it when she’s right. *This work contains BDSM elements/themes, spanking, bondage, anal play, and a bossy, persistent Greek vampire.

I hate the BDSM crapola. I saw the disclaimer for this book, so it's my own fault, but I didn't want to skip it because of the overall storyline that was advancing in the background. So I skipped all of the stupid sex scenes with stupid shit going on in a stupid dungeon red room of pain with stupid props like out of some medieval torture chamber that is supposedly sooo sexy. Yeah, right. You know, with all of the money spent on expensive paraphernalia and the huge space wasted on this stupid sex room, you could have had one hell of an indoor pool instead. And then, you know, had sex anywhere else in your house - maybe even the bedroom. Just an idea....

But, things don't always go the way I think they should for some reason..

Luckily, it looks like it's the only one in the series that has BDSM in it, so maybe I'll try the next one. I don't know. *sigh*

Okay, so we have Lex, the vampire dom or whatever, and the girl who's name I have already forgotten and I just finished reading the book minutes ago. Maybe this is because he calls her "little one" as a pet name. Ugh. Really? That's got to be the stupidest pet name I've ever heard. But, what can I expect? We've already established that this guy isn't the brightest bulb in the pack since he bought a stupid Saint Andrew's cross to have in his home. Really, dude? Couldn't you just be normal and buy a giant flat-screen TV? Even having a man-cave would make me have more respect for you than a dungeon, you blood-sucking poor-man's Christian Grey wannabe.

Yeah, I like this guy better. That's how stupid a sex dungeon is.

Luckily for him, Little One isn't exactly a member of the Mensa Society either. She shows her dumbassery quite often in the story. She constantly talks about how she's a strong, independent woman and then acts exactly in opposition to that and gets all hot when he orders her around. And, he's not just ordering her around in the bedroom. He's constantly pushing her, threatening her, grabbing her, restraining her, getting in her face and yelling at her, intimidating her, and telling her he will be beating her later for not obeying him while they aren't doing the whole BDSM thing. So, anytime she does anything he doesn't like, even on accident, he tells her he will be spanking her (with a belt) later for it. Is that really how that shit is supposed to go? It just seems like abuse to me. But, hey, what do I know about BDSM? Other than 50 Shades, I haven't read much of the genre because I think it's stupid.
Yeah, in case you didn't get that yet, I think BDSM is stupid.

Except in this case. Here, it is adorable.

Damn, I really wish I could have liked this one more. By no means is it an awful book, but it did not even begin to compare to Bite Me. Some parts of the book were enjoyable and well executed, but I also have quite a few criticisms to make.

description

Once Bitte, Twice Shy follows the story of Ivie and Alexander who were introduced in the previous book. Ivie is one of Donna's friends and has only just been rescued from her kidnapping by some evil vampires. She is mentally and emotionally scarred by her ordeal but has to learn to deal very quickly because she's living with Conner and Donna who are vampires themselves.

Alexander is also introduced in the previous book as a very old and very Greek fellow vampire. For the protection of Ivie and Donna, Alexander is hanging around Conner's house because the threats around them are only escalating. Lex is immediately drawn to Ivie, even though she is both attracted to and terrified of him. Lex has a strange and intense way of showing his affection for Ivie. This means there's a lot of staring, random and unnecessary touching and some very awkward moments between them. He wasn't completely charmless though, he had some sweet and thoughtful moments that I can't deny.

“When Lex was forceful and dominating, it turned me on. When he was sweet, I melted.”

Basically what she said, except change 'turned me on' to 'creeped me out'!

I went into this book pretty blind after finishing (and loving) the first book in the series. I didn't really know what to expect, except I knew that Lex and Ivie would be the new main characters. Ivie and Donna were pretty similar heroines but they did have their differences, so I'll overlook their resemblances. On the other hand, Lex and Conner were quite different personality wise but ended up saying so many of the same things. I noticed so many of Lex's lines were almost identical to Conner's. Actually, whole conversations felt overly familiar and resembled very similar ones the last book.

Let me demonstrate:

Donna: “Does your bite feel like that every time?”
Ivie: “Is it like that every time you bite?”

And to theses questions, both males reply with something along the lines of "No, only with the right person". And this was only one, minor example! Situations like this occurred throughout the book, in fact I'm pretty sure I could dedicate a whole review in the conversational similarities.

The one main difference with this book is the moderate BDSM element. I neither liked nor disliked this part of the book, but was instead painfully indifferent. I did, however, question why it was included in the story since Ivie was so emotionally scarred from her kidnapping. She was afraid of the vampires even when she was with Lex, so it seems unlikely that she would be comfortable in that sort of situation. Also, what kind of man puts an emotionally damaged person (who has recently been kidnapped) into his "pleasure dungeon"? The answer to that question is: the same kind of man that calls someone who they just met "Little One" like he were talking to a five year old (I fucking hate that endearment, but I will get way too carried away if I start talking about how condescending, belittling and downright stupid I think it is). It would have been much more believable if Conner and Donna had entered a BDSM relationship. I just thought that it was out of place in this particular relationship.

description

On the other hand, I liked how there was a distinct difference between what is acceptable behaviour outside the bedroom and what's acceptable in the bedroom. I hate it when in BDSM relationships, the dominant and submissive behaviour is carried into public and everyday encounters. Outside of the bedroom, Lex and Ivie had established a relationship based on mutual respect, which I admired.

There were many enjoyable aspects about the book and it contained many of the witty and humorous elements that I enjoyed so much from the last book. I liked the dynamic between all the characters and I feel as if it's going to keep getting better as more couples are introduced. The ending of this book was the one thing that I would say was better than the previous book. I made a comment about how the ending of the last book was rather abrupt and unsatisfying. In this book, I found the ending to be satisfying as well as transitioning the book smoothly into the sequel by introducing the upcoming couple.

Even though I didn't enjoy his book as much as I would have liked to, I am still planning on reading the next book. I feel as if the next book is going to be quite different because it focuses witches, werewolves and other paranormal beings, not just vampires. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about the inclusion of all these new beings, but I'll see how it goes!

A Dom Vampire stopped in his tracks...

Once Bitten, Twice Shy is the second book in the series with our hero Lex meeting and falling for our heroine Ivie. We were introduced to our characters in the first story as Ivie is Donna's (the heroine in book 1) best friend. Ivie is still recovering from the trauma of being kidnapped by bad vampires and she has recurring nightmares. Lex knows of Ivie's trauma, but also know that she is his destiny.

The plot is a continuation from the first with rebel vampires, The Faction, still trying to kill Conner (hero from book 1) , Lex and other members of their brethren who oppose them. The Faction's mission is to make Lex and Conner vulnerable by hurting their loved ones. Lex has lived nearly 1000 years by himself and now that he has found Ivie wants to protect her. She is hesitant to put her trust in vampires after her experiences.

I dropped a star because I didn't particularly like Lex. He leaves Ivie for long periods of time without saying goodbye and does not keep in contact with her while he's gone. Lex's reactions to Ivie's rejection when he returns made me like him even less. He is a Dom, makes it clear that he is angry and his reaction is to punish her....stop the clock. Aren't Dominant's supposed to be in control of their emotions and not hit in anger? I just didn't like her automatic submission because she's kinky. I wanted him to suck up to her and work towards gaining her trust as her partner and Dom.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and the tease at the end did get me intrigued enough to go on.

Ok, where the first book in the series hit the spot, this one did just the opposite.

The story follows Donna's friend Ivie (who survived the vampire attack and now has a hard time dealing with all that!) and Lex aka Alexander Dimitriades, a greek vamp Adonis (well, duh!) who pursues her but is very awkward in his behavior while doing so.
(I mean, you are like God knows how many years old and you know shit about how to pursue a woman, c'mon!)

Anyway, she is totally afraid of him, well of the vamps (understandably cause of what she went through) but she is also fighting her attraction towards the greek vamp (which is understandable too) BUT what didn't work for me is the BDSM sex Lex just throws at her in a cavemanish style after he kinda ditched her twice without any explanation and then he suddenly appears, sees Ivie in a proximity of another gorgeous vamp hunk and he goes balistic, takes her to his dungeon and has his way with her.

Now, what is wrong with this picture?
EVERYTHING!
First of all I am very strict when concerning the BDSM issue, cause , for me, it's the matter of trust and here I don't see even a "T" from trust.
She's fuckin afraid of his kind and he just pulls all that comanding mambo jumbo at her...

like, seriously?! nah...

not this time, anyway...
so that's why it's 3 stars for me, but the other aspects of the story were very well presented.

Alexander "Lex" is my favorite vampire. He's hot, sexy, built (not just his chest and arm muscles either!) and into BDSM. Ivie is a wonderful heroine. We think she's weak because she's human and because she's afraid of vampires,

Once Bitten Twice Shy
Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Bitten 2) by C.C. Wood

Second in a series, can stand alone. Light Paranormal.
I could not wait for Once Bitten, Twice Shy" target="_blank">Once Bitten, Twice Shy. COULD. NOT. WAIT. The Bitten series by C.C. Wood is paranormal light. In other words, even if you don't think you like paranormal, this series may have just the right amount of  'different' without being 'too different'. I have to be honest here, this book is very hard for me to judge objectively. Why? Well, the characters are based on a group of us from last year's Wicked Book Weekend. I'm one of them, but since my real name is used, I won't tell you which ;)

I really loved Bite Me" target="_blank">Bite Me, the first in the series. It was great combination of funny, sexy and exciting. (See my review.) Once Bitten, Twice Shy" target="_blank">Once Bitten, Twice Shy steps it up on all fronts. It's WAY hotter, still funny, and has even more action. It's a quick read, and a nice change of pace from the same old story I feel like I've been reading a lot of lately.

Meet Ivie. Ivie was kidnapped and almost raped by a group of bad vampires in the first book, and understandably has a bit of an aversion now, despite her best friend being one. But she can't help the pull she feels toward the sexy, observant and worldly Alexander 'Lex'  Dimitriades.
"Please do not blame the rest of my people for the brutality of a few. Just as there is evil among humans, there is also evil among vampires"

While Lex makes it clear he wants Ivie, she can't really understand what this gorgeous guy would see in her, especially with her abundant curves.  In her eyes, vampires could only see humans as food. But Lex made it very clear he wanted Ivie. From his nickname for her, "Little One" (oh, I'd love to be called that! Ha! As if!) to him touching her every chance he gets, to some kinky flirty comments, Ivie finds it difficult to hide her attraction to him. Plus, his dominant ways hit Ivie just right.
"When Lex did things to control me, it made my blood heat and the place between my thighs tingle. I shifted slightly, putting a sliver of space between our bodies, and only because Lex allowed it."

But there is a sort of civil war beginning in the vampire society, and Donna and Ivie are both in grave danger. So what does Lex do? What does any good alpha (a la Kristen Ashley) do when the woman they want is in danger? They move her in to their home! Ivie fights this decision.
"Watch it, Ivie. Don't push me too far."
I shivered at the dark promise of his words. Somehow, I had the feeling that too far would be just far enough for me to skate the thin edge of pleasure and pain in the most delicious way possible.

Ivie was a reader, and she loved her BDSM themed books, but the idea of really trying it all, and the nearness of Lex had her libido working overtime. So much so, that even in sleep her body called out to Lex.

When she finally gives in to Lex...holy fuck. Hello hot, kinky, BDSM light sex. Damn, I'd like a trip down to Lex's dungeon.

Likes:

•I love the group of girlfriends, they are a riot, especially because all of the funny stuff was taken from real life!
•Ivie's weight issues were realistic and relatable, I wish there was more of that.
•A fast, easy read, when many paranormal books are difficult because the authors have a big new world to build.
•Holy hotness! (And it was a little kinky too!)
•Some good action and excitement right up until the end.
•I liked the easy introduction of werewolves and witches.
•Lots more about Conner and Donna.
•How C.C. worked in some of our most fun conversations!
•Great set-up for Kerry's book, I think that one will be amazing.

Dislikes:

•I wish there was more about Ivie's weight insecurities. It was mentioned at the beginning, and despite Ivie realizing that because Lex came from a different time, he had different expectations, having a mother that is constantly on you about it will cause more daily issues.
•It seemed very quick and light. It was a fun read, but I would have liked to see much more things expanded on, like the weight issue, Ivie having a bit of PTSD from the kidnapping, Lex maybe helping her stand up to her mom and helping her feel good about herself, more of the future of the couple.
•I read this while stressing over Wicked Book Weekend, so perhaps I missed it, but I felt there was never a good explanations for Lex just disappearing for weeks at a time.
•The whole thing with Kerry kind of came out of left field, though I like the direction.

I really loved this book. My only issue with it is that I wanted more. It read a bit more like a novella. It almost felt like a Kristen Ashley meets Jeaniene Frost novella. Since those are two of my favorite authors, that is a huge compliment, but because I enjoyed it so much, I saw a lot of areas that I would have loved to have seen CC go a bit deeper (haha...there was plenty of deep *snort*). At around 200 pages, Once Bitten, Twice Shy is a very quick read. Had it been expanded to 250 or even 300 pages, it would be a 5+++ star read, because my only issue is that I wanted more.

Can you guess which character is me?

ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy is the second book in the Bitten series. I completely loved Bite Me. I thought no vampire can top sexy Scottish vampire, Connor - I was so wrong.

Ivie is living with Donna and Connor. She was kidnapped by vampires, her dreams from that night keep haunting her. She doesn't trust many vampires, she thinks they see her as food. Seeing Alexander Dimitriades aka Lex for the first time she's drawn to him, there is something in his eyes. Not wanting to get into anything with him including friendship, she tries to avoid him.

Lex is strong, smart, caring and so gorgeous. I wanted him for myself. He surprised me so many times, some of the things he said and did are so selfless. He felt something for Ivie, the need to protect and claim her was so strong.

You get more of Connor and Donna in this book which I loved, great story and writing. I didn't want it to end. So many twists and turns. It kept my attention throughout. C.C Wood set up the ending perfectly for the next book. Can't wait for more.

Just as fun and sexy as Bite Me.

I understand the fear and nightmares that Ivie was having after being kidnapped by bad vampires but as her best friend and Lex try to explain that there is good and bad in humans as well but fear is fear. So having someone as sexy as the Scottish Lex wants to do some nasty hot things to you, you kind of make you think twice about the vampire issues and of course about becoming one too but also the making humans slaves. Well I know I would and I think Scottish accents are hot too. So I'm all for it. There is definitely a lot going of things going on in this book but a really enjoyable story and great characters.

Holy Moly! The degree of intensity went up several notches with Ivie and Lex's story. There's turmoil in the vampire world and Ivie gets pulled in again.

With Lex's attraction to her and extreme desire to protect her, they end up spending more time together that feeds the flames of their growing desires. His sexy, Greek heritage and bedroom kink are definite pluses in my book.

Once Bitten Twice Shy is the second book in the Bitten series. At the end of Bite Me Ivie had been tortured by a vampire and then rescued by another vampire. Turns out being almost murdered by a vampire is harder to get over than she thought. But Donna, her best friend and newly turned vampire has been helping her return the land of the living or in their case land of the dead. Being holed up with your best friend and her sexy vampire has proven than not all vampires are like the ones that kidnapped her.

But being around Alexander Dimitriades proves that some vampires are just plain sexy. He has that strong, silent thing going on that drives Ivie wild. Lex is tall, dark, handsome and the stuff that dreams are made of. But the more her attraction to Lex grows so does her disbelief that he could ever want to be with her. Why would this centuries old, powerful vampire want to be with a human like herself?

To make matters worse a vampire sect is doing everything in it's power to take over and turn all humans into slaves. As she sees Lex and her all the vampires she know fighting to protect the human race she can't help but feel powerless. All Ivie can think of is life used to be a lot easier when vampires were just in book and movies.

CC Wood put a dirty and downright delicious spin on the vampire novel. She combines, laughs, thrills, and steam on every page. Who needs teenage girls as heroines when you can read a book with fun and amazing women? CC Wood writes characters that you wish were in your life and I don't mean just the sexy vamps! CC Wood has put the sexy back in vampire stories.

I loved this book! What a good follow up to Bite Me! For those who haven't read it, you will love it! Lex is HOT! Ivie is loveable and relatable. I love the fact that Donna and Connor from the first book were in this one because they were great characters too. The group of girls also made an appearance. They carried on just the way we left off and they were just as great in this one. In the acknowledgements C.C. said they were based on her real friends, well she is one lucky girl because what a fun and entertaining bunch of girls to go through life with.

SPOILER

If you have read the book, way to go C.C.! I loved the kinky stuff with Lex, and I don't normally enjoy that but you had just enough but not too much and with this couple it was believable which was important. The sex was hot! I loved Lex and Ivie's whole relationship and the way they were with each other. The only thing I felt somewhat left in the dark with was the fact that the wolves came to rescue her?? Wolves, I love that you added wolves and witches, it ads layers to the book but there was no mention of them before and that they were friends with the vampires. Ivie didn't seem to be surprised or react at all to seeing them which surprised me considering she never knew they existed. I love the fact that Kerry is a witch, very cool direction to go in with her and Finn in your next book. I can't wait to read it! Have your written it yet or is it in the making? I loved all of the characters and look forward to seeing what you do with them next. Thanks for the great read.

I just found a new series that I absolutely love! Although when I first started this book I didn't realize it was #2 in a series! But I didn't feel lost or confused! Although I do want to read book 1 now and can't wait till book 3!

Ivie actually reminded me a lot of me! Were both stubborn sometimes too much for our own good! But I just loved her, and how she would stand up to Lex no matter what it may entail later! Their arguments were to funny cause she would just keep doing it! I think it was mainly cause she loved to argue personally!

Lex was very mysterious and all dark/kinky! At first it was hard to get a good read off of him, but as he came around more you could tell he was very loyal and protective of his friends especially where it concerned Ivie! Overall its a good read and kept my interest till the end! I ended up staying up till 2:30am just I could finish it! ;-)

**JOSIE'S REVIEW**

Wow! I love a good vampire book and C.C. Woods delivered just that, with a twist of BDSM. What more can a book whore as myself ask for, right?! Well how about a twist of danger too. Ivie and Lex’s story is book 2 in the series and can be read as a standalone.

Ivie was kidnapped by a really sick vampire, and even though she has nothing against them, she does not want to have a relationship, or be claimed by one. All she wants is a normal life. Well HELLO Ivie your best friend Donna and her mate Conner are vampires, so that is not going to work.

Lex is a old Vampire but he knows Ivie is his and I SWEAR TO GOD, HE IS ONE HOT AS SIN VAMPIRE. Lex is very patient with Ivie. He understands her aversions because of what happened to her but the one thing he knows is that Ivie is his…even if she does not know it yet.

Ivie really does not understand what is going on or what everyone is telling her. All she knows is there is a pull with Lex. You will love the relationship between Donna and Ivie, they are funny to read. Donna tries to get it through Ivie’s head that Lex is different and that he is interested in Ivie.

“He doesn’t scare me. I’m scared of the way he makes me feel.”

“How does he make you feel?”

“He makes me want things I know are bad for me.”

“I know he looks really scary and acts that way most of the time, but he’s a really good guy, he wants to protect you.”

“I think he is into kink. F**k me.”

“That’s kind of hot. I’ve seen your kindle, b**tch. You love it.”

Ladies you are going to fall in love with all things Lex the Greek Vampire. Well damn, even when he talks while trying not to scare Ivie off, it is hot, domineering and commanding.

“I have no idea what you mean.”

“Don’t ever lie to me, Ivie. I will never invade your mind without your permission, but I will always know when you are lying, I forbid it.”

“I don’t believe you have the right to demand anything for me, or forbid me to do anything.”

“I have EVERY RIGHT.”

Things are changing in the vampire world, and danger is lurking. Ivie, without knowing, is in danger and is a possible threat to the vampire. Lex, Donna and Conner will do anything to keep Ivie safe. While Lex is trying to be as patient as possible. Ivie has valid reasons for her apprehension regarding Lex and she tries to keep her distance. Lex gets to the point that he has to take matters into his own hands and make Ivie see that she is his.

“Ivie I’m going to offer you one chance to escape. If you really don’t want this, want me, tell me now. If you can tell me that sincerely, I’ll take you back to Conners and never bother you again. If you can’t then you’re mine to do with as I please. Even if I stop tonight, Ivie, I won’t let you leave. You chose to stay and you will stay until I am done with you.”

“I’ll stay. I knew you were into kink but I wasn’t expecting something this, um…..”

“Do you know why you are being punished Ivie?”

“No, sir.”

“You let another man touch you without my permission Ivie. That is unacceptable.”

“I will bit you Ivie. I don’t even need to read your mind to be able to tell that you want it. I can see it just by looking at you. Your pupils are larger, your nipples are hard. I can even smell it. You smell see and just a little spicy.” (MOTHER HELL that is HOT)

Lex is a total alpha male when it comes to Ivie but he knows he has met his match when she fights him at every turn, he even chains her to his Andrews Cross to do so.

Just when things are going well for the couple danger strikes. While Lex wants to keep Ivie away safe and sound, Ivie is not willing to stand by on the side lines. There are vampires that want to rule and change the life and current ways of the vampire world. To do that, they need to take out the three most powerful vampires out there…Conner, Donna and Lex.

I loved everything about this book, so much so that I had to one click book one in the series. I am excited to read book 3 in this series which is Finns and Kerry’s story.

Favorite Quote:

“I know you love me and want to be with me. I also want you to know that I love you and I will take you however I can get you. I knew, the first moment I saw you and spoke to you and heard the thoughts that you used to project so loudly, that you were MINE.”

“Yours?”

“Yes, you are mind, you belong to me. And I am yours, Everything that I am belongs to you.”

Once Bitten, Twice Shy is the second book in the Bitten Series by C.C. Wood. The first book in this series revolved around a 300 year old Scottish vampire who falls for Donna, a human. This book picks up in the story line where that book left off, but mainly centers on Donna’s best friend Ivie and Lex, one of the oldest (and sexiest) vampires around.
Now, Lets begin by stating that I am not a paranormal reader. I read the first few Twilight books and stopped, meaning to go back and never did. I wasn’t dying for it and there are always new books out that got my attention first.

That being said, I read Bite Me (the first in the Bitten Series) because I really loved C.C. Wood Girl Next Door Series and thought it was super sexy and fun! In my opinion, Once Bitten, Twice shy was even better than the first! These paranormal romances grabbed me and kept my attention the whole way through! I loved every second of them and cannot wait for the next in the series!

Meet Ivie

Ivie is young and independent and can be very strong willed! She is not super model skinny but absolutely beautiful (although she doesn’t always see this) Being single and always taking care of herself, Ivie sometimes has trouble letting go of control (but somewhere deep inside she has the urges to just sit back and submit) To me, Ivie was an amazing heroine. She is not perfect and makes plenty of mistakes, but she knows when it is important to let things go and when it is important to stand her ground!

When this book starts, Ivie is still in a state of shock over her kidnapping and what they wanted to do to her. She is staying with Donna and Conner and is very hesitant around other vampires. She knows they are not all evil but still cannot get over her first encounter with them and the fact that they wanted to torture and kill her.

Meet Lex

Alexander is a “Greek God”! He is sexy, smart, witty, and powerful. He is one of the oldest vampires and a member of the Council, an organization that governs the vampires. Although he is typically reserved when he meets Ivie he knows she is for him. He can feel the pull between them and just needs her to acknowledge she feels it too!

There is lots of drama brewing in the vampire world and Lex and Ivie have to find a way to be together when he is constantly being called away and she is unsure of how she feels about being with any vampire (especially one as domineering as Lex). Mix a little love triangle (HELLO Finn) and some BDSM and I am done, just done! LOVED IT!

This book was super sexy, just like the first. C.C Wood does an amazing job of blending sex, humor, and an intriguing story line! I was really into Bite Me and thought the sex in it was some of the steamiest I had read, but I was blown away with Once, Bitten Twice Shy. Lex as a dominate vampire is swoon worthy and Ivie’s desire to submit left my knees weak!

C.C. Wood’s writing has a way of grabbing you and make you not want to stop reading till you cannot keep your eyes open anymore! I just don’t know how I am supposed to wait for her to write Finn’s book now!

Wow! I was waiting for this release. C.C. Woods does an amazing job writing paranormal romance (along with her contemporary romance novels. She puts just the right amount of action and sexy romance throughout her paranormal romance books.

We get the set up for this book at the end of the first book. Alexander is completely enraptured by Ivie on their first meeting. He quietly watches her, biding his time. Yummy!

Ivie has to over come her fear of vampires. She was captured and tortured by vampires in book one. Now her best friend is one. For her safety she has to stay with the very vampires she fears.

From book one we learn that other vampires are afraid of Alexander. He is the person the council turns to get (torture) information out of other vampires. He is also a very old vampire. The author keeps the authenticity of the character by giving him some unusual bedroom tastes. A softer version of BDSM and some kink. I call it softer because it is much softer compared Gabriel's Inferno and Knight. However, if this is the first book that you have read of this nature you might be raising your eyebrows to your hairline. You can always skip over these parts if it is not your taste. It does not dominate the whole book. There are also plenty of sexy intimate scenes that do not have BDSM in them. So whatever your preference, there is plenty of both.

It was a great ride experiencing Alexander (Lex) winning over Ivie. He starts off slow luring us in. Then abruptly he just takes over. Ivie is slow to catch up. Ha, ha! She didn't realize she was in trouble of losing he heart the minute he saw her.

The plot revolves around the growing threat of the vampires trying to throw over the council. They increase their efforts making it difficult for our characters. They are slowly revealed in this book, but we still have a lot to learn about them. This feels intentional to keep the excitement for another book.

...and speaking about another book... Donna and Ivie's friends make an appearance at the end of the book. They are nicely pulled back into the plot. It didn't feel forced-whew! We find some new and exciting details about their friends. More of Conner's friends are also introduced throughout this book. C.C.Woods throws in some surprises about the characters. She ties up this book with a HEA. Then sets us up for the next book much like the first book. We find out new juicy details about 2 characters that just make us want to read their story ASAP!! Ha, ha! C.C.Woods - great job!! I'm ready for your next adventure!

“How does he make you feel?” she asked.

“He makes me want things I know are bad for me.”

Ivie Lang could not forget how she was captured by a bad vampire. She gets nightmares, could not eat properly and can't really work because her safety is endangered.

Alexander Dimitriades is a vampire who will stop at nothing to make Ivie his. But he has a…"dark" side that could make Ivie run for the hills.

But it is not because Lex has this "dark" side that makes Ivie not to pursue "something" with Lex. It's because she's human and still could not accept the fact that there are vampires and her best friend is a vampire!

And then things start to go wrong and Ivie discovers something that could change her views about vampires and her life.

Forever.

“But to have a romantic relationship with a vampire? No way. Where in the hell could that go? I mean, that was like me having a romantic relationship with a cow. You didn’t have relationships with your food. Well, maybe you did if it was chocolate. God knew I had an extreme fondness for it.”

Oh my. Oh my my my.

You bet I fanned myself while reading this. Just oh my juice.

Ms. Woods once again delivered one hot, steamy, laugh-out-loud moments in this book. I still do prefer the first book though. Like they say, the first one always last.

Yeah. I guess so.

I may have a liiiiitle bit disappointed on how it ended with Ivie and Lex. Maybe they might get married in the other series to come?

Yay.

Oh! I can't also wait for the next book. Ms. Woods has this uncanny ability to make you want to read the next book. Really. If she has the ability to write a book for Math with that ability of hers, I'll be surely reading that said Math book and freakin' ace that test.

Just sayin'.

Quote: I had gone to bed alone the night before, shared foreplay in a dream, and woken up to find a man in my bed. Screw all those romance novels on my Kindle, I had enough stuff happening in my own life to write one of my own.

Quote: It was the feeling of him holding me down that threw me over the edge. My back arched so hard only my head touched the mattress and I cried out. The peak was high and sharp enough to cut me in two. The pleasure was so intense it burned like fire throughout my body. Each time I thought it was ending and that I would come down, Lex pushed me higher and harder. It hurt. Ecstasy and inescapable agony centered on the point between my legs. I screamed, unable to endure it any longer.

Quote: Just as I reached out to him, inviting him into my mind, he struck. I felt his fangs sink into my skin, but it was a delicious pain. At the first pull of his mouth, the tsunami of my orgasm broke over me, breaking down every wall, every defense I erected around my heart and mind. I belonged to him. He owned me, body and soul. And he would for eternity.

In the second installment of the Bitten series, the plotline that began in book one is continued, with the evil vampires wanting to take over the world and kill one of the characters. Ivie is caught in the middle, especially as a human, but she shows how strong and resilient she can be when saving her vampire friends with her special power. We follow Ivie as she learns to overcome her traumatic experience at the hands of vampires from book one. Not only is she living with daily nightmares, she also has to fend off the advances of a several hundred year old vampire named Alexander, who won’t give up on having her. But, once she does give in to Lex, the encounters are scorching and lean towards BDSM. Also, we see the dynamic between her and Donna from the first book, who is her best friend and hell bent on matchmaking. I love the banter between Ivie and her friends, it reminds me of a certain Smuffin book club. You won’t go wrong with this series, both books are quick and sexy reads, with a barrel of funny dialogue. I can’t wait for book 3 about the next friend in the group, who was foreshadowed at the end.

Well done C.C. Thank you for the ARC for my honest review. This was a fun book to read. I just really enjoyed Ivie and Lex's story. There chemistry was off the charts HOT. Ivie was a good character who was still having issues recovering from her last encounter with vampires which did not go so well. Now that her best friend Donna was a new vampire she was able to see that not all vampires were bad. That and well there was Conner, Donna's vampire man. He is just juicy.

Ivie had this really strong attraction to Lex, but did her bet to control it. Mostly because he is a vampire and her being food and all that stuff. It did not matter that she wanted to roll in the sack with him several times. She still thought of herself as food.

Lex being the older vampire that he is sees Ivie and really wants to be with her. Just like his friend Connor he knows what he wants. If it were only that easy with Ivie. The tension that they both have when they are around one another is so thick that I thought I was the one with sexual frustration.

"I jumped as a sharp pain radiated from my ear. Holy shit, had he just bitten me. His lips closed around my earlobe and he sucked gently, removing the pain. I felt his mouth everywhere. I tried to lean away, but he wouldn't let me."

Ivie just doesn't get. Lex wants her, he will have her. Tall dark handsome and mysterious and very demanding in the bed. He hints around a lot and Ivie seems unsure of him and his intentions with the mixed signals that she is getting from him. She is also having nightmares from the time she was taken by the bad vampires. Lex tries to make his intentions known to Ivie but once he says something to her...Well I can't tell you that part.

So let's see what else can I tell you......OK, let's leave it at this.....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was full of humor and hot sexiness. C.C has a way of making me feel like I am one of the characters while reading. I hope to read more of this series from C.C. If you ever get the chance to meet her, tell her I said hello, she really is nice, don't tell her I told you that part....she likes to come off a little wild.

I gave a 5 stars to this one, nit because this one was better than the first but for the fact that this serie is awesome.
not that the story is getting better because the stories are a continuation, different but the same and involving not forgetting intense.

so let's go back to Sexy Kinky Vampy Lexy and Ms Lang. As I said different story different circumstances but same pace and time with the others and involvement. I could see the bonding between the friends more in this one. how tight and how they new each others.
I found similarities in donna and Ivie so I thought I could see why they seemed more closer but in the end I figured all of them were that closed just because Ivie was involved and things were quite in a secret place.
I found hard to believe how long before they started to jump on each others. but when they started it was totally bsdm in another dimension.
furthermore it wasn't an easy road to their happy place. they both learned to be able to communicate. since they were different but connected.
as for the heroin it was harder.she had to believe and to act amd also overcome.
so that was one of the things I enjoyed in this book. it wasn't just funny or throwing some sexy vamp here and some spankings. no there was story, loving caring strust and so on. but also solving mystery and rescuing plus actions. yeap kidnapping again, I know it sound boring and hey book 1 remember but here it was lightly different and big consequences.
so I know there will be book 3 witch and magical man in fur vamp.
while I was reading this one I thought I will really enjoy the next 3 without knowing about kerry.
so ricky fine with vamp. shannon a bit confused and a werewolf into she wolf. what next and when???

Gewoon lekker leesvoer!

Why do I keep doing this to myself? If I read one more romance novel with a heroine who wants to “help” and basically is just going to get people killed, wounded, or kidnapped, I’m going to throw my kindle against a wall. *insert heavy sigh and eye roll*. I can forgive a lot of nonsense for a juicy romance novel, but I am 1000% over these bitches thinking their magic vaginas and quick trigger orgasms somehow make them miraculously capable and useful in a fight/battle/rescue. These idiot heroes not only go along with it, but they don’t give these dumbasses a huge guilt trip about possibly getting in the way or making themselves a target that in turn means the heroes have to divide their attention. It’s stupid and a really ridiculous plot device. Ivie is a huge pain in the ass and Lex is a selfish douche canoe. I still am not sure I like the author’s style, since I get almost nothing from the heroes. They just feel very two dimensional to me. So little actually happens in this book until the end that I was bored. I also don’t care for BDSM (faux or actual). If it’s not what the series deals with why add it in the second book? I just skipped right over that Sir business. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️ This book seemed to just drag on but with no real plot or character development. I didn’t hate the first book, so I had a few qualms about reading the second. I should have listened to my instincts. Right now I’m annoyed with this book so it is highly doubtful I will read book 3. If I decide to do so, it better be stellar.

CC Wood’s takes us into the story of Ivie, one of Donna’s best friends. Ivie survived the abduction by the vampires, but she still has terrible nightmares about that day. She’s been staying with Donna and Connor so that she’s safe. They believe that she may still be in danger.

Then there is Alexander (Lex). Lex has had his eye on her from the moment he met Ivie, but Ivie is terrified of him. Terrified of him because he is a vampire and terrified because of the feelings he inspires in her. She likes being human and wants to keep it that way. She doesn’t need a vampire coming in and ruining her life. She’s better off without him right?

But the more that Ivie learns about Lex the more she realizes how right he is for her. His desires seem to run along the same lines as hers, though she still tries to resist him. He’s still a vampire no matter what he be making her feel.

This book took me for a joy ride. It was crazy watching the war between Ivie and Lex, the war on love that is. It was also a dive into suspense when the danger presented itself. I couldn’t put this book down! If you’ve read the first book you’ll definitely want to get your hands on this second book in the series! I can’t wait to read more about these characters! Write more CC Wood!

I absolutely love this series!!!!

At first I was a little worried about starting this book, as I was so in love with the characters in the first book I was worried I would be able to connect with the new characters. Well let me tell you within seconds of meeting the sexy Lex, all my concerns went out the door!

From the very first page you are automatically sucked into this book! The characters will drive you absolutely crazy and make you want to scream at times because you just want all the conflict out of the way so you can jump straight to the happily ever after. However after your screaming fit you fall head over heals in love with both of them. The author has done a fabulous job with developing these characters and has totally made them one of a kind!

The plot line keeps you on your toes and second guessing what exactly will happen. There were even times that I wasn't completely sure regarding which male would take the lead, I found that this just made it that much more interesting.

All in all this was yet again another HUGE 5 STARS for the amazing CC Wood! I cannot wait for more of this series!!
