Clean slate
Without limitations, or disabilities
Without human failures of any kind-
And all it cost was your SOUL.
The question
Would you, do it?
Well......would you?

Book Two of Full Moon Series, CONGREGATION OF DARKNESS chronicles the continuing adventures of vampire Charley Rabbit, his mother Mitzi and their 'modern family' of V-net vamps. While dhampir Byron Chance recovers from near fatal wounds, Lord Earl Adrastos overcomes his paralysis and once again turns his attentions toward Mitzi. Several towns away, 18-year-old Carey Floyd barely survives an attack by a hybrid vampire swarm and, having been marked, runs for his life inadvertently endangering everyone he comes into contact with, including teenaged Kimbra and her little sister Channing.

Meanwhile, in the karstland caves of Indiana, the lone survivor of a slaughtered group of campers becomes queen to the last Fourth Bitten Vampire in existence.

Death, new life, betrayals, and, steamy romance highlight the latest installment in the Full Moon Saga.

Sexual quotient: No blushing on a commuter day with this one.
Soundtrack: Bela Lugusis Dead https://youtu.be/MPT-7YblCKY

This series has managed to stay delightfully refreshing pulling in new characters and additional themes which has continued in vein with its originality.

The essence of the story is not YA despite the lack of graphic sex scenes. The novel displays well developed characters, their diversity including insight to a number of main figures, maintained loosely around a central prime character which is skilfully crafted.

One of the downsides to this novel is its lack of editing which includes coloured tracking strikeouts, general word displacement and phonetic errors. These aren't effusive enough to seriously detract from the novel but are nevertheless irritating.

A fine story with a slow burning build-up.

A fantastic entry in the Full Moon Series. The characters are just as rich as the first installment, and I was hooked on all of their personal stories withing the broader story arcs in the novel. Then there is the addition of new characters to sink your teeth into as well as a new kind of vampire. While there is a lot going on, it's never overwhelming. It flows perfectly from one scene to the next. The world created in Full Moon is full and deep, and I couldn't help losing myself in it. An author creates something truly special when you feel the pain and joys of the characters and even a pure red rage at something truly despicable and heinous. This was an easy 5 Stars for me.

What a ride!

This book continues where the first left off, but then we start meeting new people. There are funny moments and there are moments that had tears streaming down my face. With each chapter, you are sucked ever deeper in to the lives of Charley Rabbit, his mother, Mitzi, and all their friends, of and new! I cannot wait to read what comes next! P. Matters truly knows how to draw you into the story!

Best Outstanding Sequel

The second book in the series is so outstanding! The intricate details P. Mattern gives with characters, background, foreground, landscape are incredible which puts her as one of the best writers I have ever read! The battles are amazing and the love stories so very well thought out and written! Excited to read the next to see what happens next! Recommended for everyone!!!

Title: Congregation Of Darkness
Author: P. Mattern
Genre: Adult, Paranormal
Format: Ebook
Pages: 388
Rating: 5
Heat: 2

Thoughts: Wow, that was quite the adventure with some shocking surprises and new additions to the “tribe”. There’s so much going on that I couldn’t put this down until I read the last word. I think it’s how realistic the story is, in the beginning of the series Charley is disabled and very childlike. Whereas now that he’s a vampire and “healed”, he is learning how to be an adult. It isn’t just poof he’s cured and perfect and the author does a great job of showing how difficult and frustrating that is for everyone involved. Mixed into all that there are hybrids, new loves, babies and hidden homes it’s no wonder I couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to reading the next book!

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

This is a paranormal romance. The second book in the Full Moon Series. This is not a stand alone, you must read the first book. Congregation of Darkness does pick up where the last book World of Azglen ended. I do recommend this for adults only due to the sexual content. This is one of my favorite series, I so love Charley Rabbit, even though this book doesn't revolve around Charley has much as the first book, it ties together perfectly. This read has everyone from the first book plus the author has given us more characters to fall in love with. I was constantly amazed at how P. Mattern threw in small surprises, just when I thought I had someone or something figured out she would change the story, which kept me entertained the whole time. I can not wait to read the next book!

Charley Rabbit had a decision to make, and his choice has changed everything. Endless possibilities, but is he ready for them? His journey takes him to places he never expected and the challenges are more than most could handle. But he loves hard and will do anything for his loving mom and extended family. His mother Mitzi has a couple surprises up her sleeve and is anxious to share them with Charley. While some newly made friends made bring more than friendship to their close knit family. Never a dull moment in this small group.

favorite passages:
"There was a light, gently stirring breeze, causing the golden dapples of sunlight on the forest floor to shift and change shape."
"Gazing into his tourmaline eyes she bestowed a kiss from lips that were a perfect shade of rose."
"After an eternity the bus lumbered forward into the street gracelessly, like a huge mechanical land mammal with a small brain, and they were on their way to Milton."
"She looked so small, desperate and vulnerable standing there in the driving rain, like a landlocked mermaid, her hair hanging in wavy wet tendrils around her, a look of both shock and sadness visible on her beautiful face."
"Like a cupcake for vampires,' he thought. 'With lots of icing."
"Cass almost retorted, "Well he certainly has the same package as you do", but caught himself in time, instead saying "I can see the you're happy bro."
"It was underground fairyland."
"To have a love like that... a love that's stronger than any calamity or uncertainly or whatever else life decided to throw at you... now that would be worth anything, wouldn't it?"
"My universe rotates on your every breath. You are life to me-my entire life."
"Crazy with a cherry on top."
"In spite of the tangled vines and brush overgrowing some of the graves, there were spring flowers growing between the markers, and the sun shone down in golden slanting rays like a benediction."
"By the time she'd finished speaking, her thickly fringed golden eyelashes were rapidly beating back tears like frantic butterflies."

Wow! Congregation of Darkness was even better than the first book. More Sex than you can shake a stick at. New faces and new truned vamps. New stories besides the ones in Fort Hunt and surprsies. Oh Boy are there some surprises! There are a few jaw dropping suprises!
Charley Rabbit had a hard time learning how a adult should act, but with the help of Lux, he found a new love and grew up a little. Charley and Fress's breakup was hard on both of them, but was needed, for Charly's sake.
Mitzi and Cass find out that they are expecting. Very rare for a Vampire, but they are beyond happy. Twins! Yes Ferternal Twins! Like Cass and Lux are. Boy and Girl? Two boys? or Two Girls? Time will tell along with a secret Cass has to keep from Mitzi. Cass and Mitzi get Married and honeymoon in Paris . They had a elegant wedding with all their friend and family there.
Lux, he met a new love and falls head over heals in love. They can't stay away from each other in bed or outside the bedroom. He is happy for the first time in a very long time. But the truth comes out about who he is and he is thrown to the curb. Lux's heart is shattered into a million pieces. Can Lux go on??? Will he ever trust a human for love again?????
There a new creatures out there and Carey was bruttly attacked by a small group of them. He was bitten numerous times all over his body and survived, unheard of. He runs away to his Great Aunts and meets Kimbra and they become friends. Good Friends! As he is trying to fit in. he is run out of town. He takes is Aunt with him and Kimbra insistes she is going to. They leave her little sister Channing behind. They promise to return and get her.
There are Weddings, Births, new loves, new friends, new creatures, old obsessions, and new loality's. I was at the edge of my seat, turning pages as fast as I could read. I couldn't pit it down! It was very exciting and heart pounding! Love this book!

WOW! WHAT A GREAT SERIES!!
This is Book 2 in The Full Moon Series. If you haven’t read the first book stop now and read that first. This book contains all the original characters and adds more. The family life in this vampire series is like any family with a few extras thrown in. The new characters are well thought out and enter at just the right time. This story takes you deeper into the family history and expands on it. You will be surprised at all the twists and turns. I absolutely loved it. P Mattern is an awesome author. Don’t miss out on this great series. It’s not your regular vampire story.

I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to chat with the author and she gifted me this series. Like previous reviewers have stated, I am not crazy about the covers and probably would not have purchased them just judging the cover. But do not let them full you on the amazing journey that Charley Rabbit, his mother Mitzi and the rest of the gang will take you on. This is not your typical vampire series. The original characters have some great character growth and we are introduced to some new characters as well. I typically read most books in a day or so and it, this series has not been that way. The author had me thinking and contemplating what was occurring throughout the entire book. I can not wait to see what is in store in the next book. I have read a ton of great books, but many are so similar I don't end up recalling a lot of details about them a few months later, I can honestly say that this is not going to be the case for the Full Moon Series. The author has done a fantastic job of taking a creature who so many are fascinated with and putting a unique spin on things. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal books.

Disappointed

After such a wonderfully written book one I was more than eager to start book two.
These are my opinions and do not reflect how I feel about the Author.
Cons
1. our favorite twice bitten was thrown out like yesterday's trash. For some reason he needed to "grow up more" and was left in the dust while his ex soul mate was getting sexual with a person Charley despised. She went bed hopping. Sorry, is a HUGE NO GO FOR ME!
2
This book had too many characters and subplots. It became very hard to follow at times.
3. I am for same sex coupling/marriage, but it seemed like there was more of a political correctness about it.
4. I HATE Daniel and Fressa together. Maybe I'll change my mind in book 3, but I have a sinking feeling about this woman. (The bed hopper!)
Things I loved.
I loved Cary and Kimbra. What a cute couple.
I loved how Cass dotted on his poor pregnant wife.
I do like the Author's writing style and am looking for redemption in book 3.
All in all, I would recommend this book, but it's not the kind of book I would normally read.
Here's to the next book being more like the 1st book.

Almost finished, but definitely NOT a STANDALONE series . . . Book 1 is necessary reading!

I like the story line and writing but the EDITING is atrocious and very DISTRACTING as I read. Charlie Rabbit continues catching up his adolescent mind with his very attractive new vampire gifts. The cast of characters is delightful, each transforming emotionally crafted with unique personality traits and idiosyncrasies, good and bad. The book reads almost as Young Adult but crosses into more Adult reading at times. I love the clever use of mundane everyday life things taking on a 'new' persona such as the board game played, Vampire culture and governance. I am enjoying the multi-dimensional aspect of the story. I quickly jumped into the second book and so much more has been added; a new specie/phylum of Vampire has been introduced; prehistoric characters and brutal behaviors, SCARY pack creatures. I predict this writing team has a great future as they continue to deliver more to read, but for heavens sake, better EDITING! My rating is low ONLY because I can't let that poor editing slide; old teaching habits, marketing is hurt also by releasing copy like that too!

Oh my goodness! This saga keeps getting better and better! Patricia Mattern is a genius! I challenge anyone who says they are not a fan of vampire stories to read this series. It has a different take and her books are phenomenal!
We meet new characters in this book. And new species if you will. Carey gets attacked by something although he is not sure what. He runs away to his aunts and meets an amazing girl, Kimbra. Oh and finds a dog Loki who is a little bit "more".
In the meantime, Cass and Mitzi get good news. Well sortof. I mean it's a blessing but there is a twist. And they share a life event!
Fressenda and Charley decide to take a break. (Which yes makes me sad...Lol) They both date other people. Charley has alot of life lessons he needs to learn.
Lux finds a new love. But will his new love be so accepting when the fangs come out?
And of course the nasty Adrastos has to make everyone's lives miserable.
Again I say....if you haven't experienced Patricia Mattern's books, I have to ask, what is wrong with you????

I think the premise of this story has promise. I like the idea of a high needs human being turned into a vampire and cured instead of remaining "crazy". But I couldn't get through the first chapter of this book. The red font with the crossed out letters signifying a tracked change in Microsoft Office Word were left in the finished manuscript. Whoever edited the book decided that darkness should only have one 's', and that 'Charly Rabbit's mom' didn't need the possessive apostrophe s. These were the first of several edited in errors left in red in the first chapter alone.
Not all books hit the market with every typo fixed, but I can read a book with the occasional typo and not even miss a beat. This read more like a draft than a polished book. I know that a story can still be good even if there are errors but there were so many errors so close together that I couldn't get far enough into the book to enjoy whatever story there might have been.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Congregation of darkness, was full of surprises I couldn't wait to get back to reading in order to find out what would happen next. I am excited to read the next book in the series and see what happens but at the same time I don't want it to be over. The work that the author put into these books is perfect the detail is great, mixed with the twists and turns is amazing. These books really make me wish that the board game world of azglen truly existed as I love games second to reading. with that being said I do not like that Charley and Fress were split up and moved onto new partners, I don't care for Daniel, with that said I love all of the other pairings. I am excited to see what happens with the babies and Mitzi. I did find the red corrections annoying but they didn't overly hinder my reading enjoyment, I think the authors writing style is perfect otherwise.

Amazing! Simply great story telling !

This book has everything great story line. Well defined characters, and twists like you wouldn't believe.
Hallie, the main character, doesn't know where she's at from minute to minute. You get really immersed in her story.
Is she in a mental asylum with Josh seeing awful things in
her Mind?
Did she somehow time travel or jump to another place and live a very interesting life with very handsome , but not quite so nice in the beginning Zander? Resulting in Kalli?
Or is she in the hospital having a bad reaction to the mental hospitals electric shock treatments?
Which thing is real?
Did she wake up to Josh and now getting better going to escape with him?
Or is he the very evil she has worried about this whole time?
This is a roller coaster! Twists and turns!
Highly recommended! Can't wait for more!

I know that this book is in the process of getting re-edited, and as soon as it is it will be a 5 star read. It is very well written and has great character growth and development. This is the second story in the series. We learn more about the other characters adn also get to meet a few more, along with a couple more different types of vampires. We learn about Mitzi's new powers, since becoming a tri-bite. If you are burnt out on the main stream vampire stories and are looking for something different, this is the series for you. It's not your normal, run of the mill vampire book. It did take a bit to get use to the differences, but I did and I did enjoy reading about all the characters.

Congregation of Darkness is the continuation of Charley’s life as a vampire. Starting over has a whole new set of challenges for both him and his new family unit. In this read you follow along while he grows into his powers. New adventures await Charley, his mother, and the rest of the gang.

After reading book two of this series, you won’t be able to wait to see where the story takes you next. I am enjoying following along as the characters develop and change. There seemed to be a lot going on in this read. Between that and a relationship change my head was spinning a bit.

The growth and development in this story alone, makes book two worth the read. If you are looking for a unique read, this is definitely up your alley.

First let me say I'm not a real fan of the book covers of this series but please don't let that deter you from giving it a try. I'm truly loving the Full Moon series and can't wait to start on #3

This is for sure a world that is unlike any other vampire series. If your tired of the norm give this series a chance. It is different but you'll get used to the differences to where it will suck you in. The characters get more defined in this story like Mitzi's and you meet some new ones along the way.

I highly recommend and the writing is done very nicely as well.

Okay. So it was great to pick up where the last book left off with all my favourite characters in tow.
There was a slight improvement on the grammatical errors that plagued me in book 1 however, with book 2 some of the character names were wrong which bugged me to no end. At one point when talking about Fress it was actually fresh. Seriously?
It is a good thing the storyline is gripping as this differs from your standard paranormal books. It comes with a new perspective.
Let's see what book 3 has to offer

Not Your Average Family

HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER! In this book you meet new people affected by the Dark Arts and how they are pulled to join together. Betrayal, surprise and forgiveness abound in this next segment of the series.

This book demonstrates how not everything is precisely as it seems and that communication is key for continued existence in a thriving family.
Be prepared for oooo's and aaaah's as knowledge is revealed and shared~

Amazing story and awesome second installment to the series. I love that this jumps around to the different characters and picks up close to the ending of the first book. I love the new challenges and changes everyone goes through. I was a little sad at some relationship changes, but it wouldn't be the same without them. There is so much to say about this story and all its goodness, but... That would be giving away too much and I am not one to do that.

The amazing epic story continues, readers will find favorites and of course the ones you have to hate are hear too. If I wouldn't have been gifted this series of books I would still be reading them anyway because I love this series and the more modern vies of the supernatural and the beings that go with it. already started on the third book and looking forward to all. Great job on this collection

This series keeps on getting better. It picks up right after the first one left off. Now I won't be a spoil sport and give our details but I will say that's it's kinda crazy. Kinda sexy. And a lot like a rollercoaster. But you'll have to read it first your self.
